Hot hot hot! How Japan’s quake affects the French heat wave

If you live in the US, or France for that matter, you are all-too-familiar with the heat. It’s hot! The weathermen said last night that here in Georgia we have experienced our 11th straight day of 90-plus degree temperatures. Make that 12. Philly closed schools twice last week due to the heat and several school districts in the northern part of the US are also doing the same today. Delaware schools, Baltimore schools, New Jersey schools, closing due to excessive heat.

The heat is an issue but I wanted to embed it in a larger context to show how one ‘natural disaster’ impacts another and how, like a rolling blackout, the heat issues are rolling one into other issues, affecting outcomes in completely different parts of the world and in different ways. The results of globalization made manifest…

First, the US news,
Wichita experiences rare ‘heat burst’ overnight
“Last night Wichita experienced a very rare weather phenomenon known as a “Heat Burst.” At 12:22 a.m. the temperature at Wichita’s Mid-Continent Airport was 85 degrees. At 12:44 the temperature spiked to 102 degrees. This was a 17 degree increase in only 20 minutes. Winds also gusted between 50 and 60 MPH. The heat burst winds and temperatures rapidly dissipated as they spread across Sedgwick and Southern Butler Counties.”

NOAA wrote: “An unusual heat burst occurred shortly after midnight on June 9, 2011, across the Wichita area. The temperature jumped some 15 to 20 degrees in a matter of 15 to 20 minutes, rising from the low to mid 80s to around 102 degrees. The sudden rise in the thermometer was accompanied by a downburst of winds that gusted to near 60 mph in some locations.”

Very rare, and unusual weather phenomena are happening on a regular basis. At some point, when these phenomena happen enough, they will no longer be ‘rare’. Anyway, heat overall is plaguing much of America:

Heat gripping half of US expected to last for days
“The six-to-10-day outlook from the federal Climate Prediction Center calls for continued above-average readings centered on the mid-South, including Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, and extending as far as the Great Lakes and New York and New Jersey. Authorities say hot weather was so intense in southwestern Michigan that it buckled pavement on an interstate, forcing the roadway to close for a few hours Wednesday, according to the Battle Creek Enquirer.”

“France on drought alert after hottest spring since 1900”
France is now on heatwave alert after the hottest spring since 1900 has left water tables down and farmers struggling to feed their livestock. The Health Ministry has put into effect level one of an anti-drought plan that was drawn up after 15,000 people died in the long-hot summer of 2003. … Spring this year has been the hottest since at last 1900 and the driest for 50 years. Temperatures have been 2.6°C higher than the average between 1971 and 2000.”

We know that the heat wave has implications. In the US, those negative effects become apparent easily with the cost of energy. When you get your bill, you just holler. People who are not working, or working for less than they need to live, are going to struggle to pay higher cooling bills. It is a terrible choice to have to make when you have a dilemma between cooling your family or feeding them.

For Kansas farmers, when the land becomes so dry, it costs them more to harvest the field than it does to let it go. In rural areas, when water runs out, chickens die. Drought-hit Texas is on the brink of losing all the cotton. “Reeling from the worst drought in a century, cotton farmers in Texas are on the brink of writing off their withered plants this year and collecting the insurance.”

Those are the obvious, and local impacts to one example of a disaster. But as this article from STRATFOR shows, the effects of the wild weather in the world is affecting part of the word far from where the events occur. The Japan tsunami and nuclear meltdown is affecting France…

Political implications of a French heat wave
“France is expecting to have an epic heat wave this summer, which, due to a combination of political and environmental factors, will have some serious repercussions for the political scene in Paris. Spring 2011 has been exceptionally hot in France. In fact, has been the hottest in 100 years. Furthermore, it has been the driest spring in the last 50 years and therefore this summer is expected to be one of the hottest on record and that includes the 2005 and 2003 heat waves which were quite serious for France. In 2003 heat wave in France was exceptionally severe, with the French minister of health issuing a report that said that about 15,000 people may have died as result of increased temperatures. The 2003 heat wave also had political repercussions. Then-French President Jacques Chirac reshuffled his Cabinet the following year and in 2005, France voted against the EU constitutional treaty in a public referendum. In many ways, the referendum was not really a “no” against Europe as much as a vote of no-confidence to Chirac’s government for a slew of issues, one of which was how the government handled the heat wave in both 2003 and the summer of 2005.”

“This time around the effects of the heat wave could even be greater. This is primarily because neighboring Germany has taken eight nuclear reactors off-line — seven immediately after the Fukushima nuclear disaster. This was a political decision for Berlin, with Chancellor Angela Merkel hoping to score political points before important regional elections by catering to environmentalists’ demands. However, this takes off-line about 40 percent of Germany’s nuclear capacity and Germany is one of the two countries along Great Britain from which France imports electricity during the high-usage months in the summer. The reason importing electricity from Germany and the U.K. will be particularly important for France during a drought is because 24 of its 58 nuclear reactors do not have cooling towers and purely depend on the flow of river water to cool the reactor cores. What this means is that if the level of water in rivers drops, it means that some of the reactors may have to be shut down especially those on the Rhone River in southwest France, where temperatures are expected to be particularly high due to its geographical location.”

“Nonetheless, the heat wave could result in two repercussions. First, it could seal the fate of French President Nicolas Sarkozy, since presidential elections would be seven to eight months after the end of August. And second, it could cause a debate within France on nuclear power in general, even though one of the lessons that France could learn from the crisis is that it doesn’t need to switch away from nuclear power but rather build more, both to sustain its electricity demand during the summer months and also to potentially export it at lucrative prices to neighboring Germany, which has already decided to shut down its nuclear power plants by 2022.”

Many nations are staggering under the economic weight of rebuilding after a natural disaster. The floods in the US and the tornado outbreak has set the United States back hundreds of millions, at a time when we learn that we are paying our military on four open war fronts. Spain, Europe’s largest farm market, is reeling from the ban on fresh vegetable imports even as they are ordered to dump millions of pounds of food in the German e coli scare. Haiti never recovered from the 2010 earthquake and Japan may never recover from the massive quake in March 2011, tsunami, and 3 nuclear meltdowns. The financial and economic impacts are obvious. What is not so obvious are the political and societal ramifications of successive and relentless disasters. Those ramifications will continue to increase, as birth pangs do, until in the Tribulation, everyone on the face of the globe is eventually affected.

The Nephilim and the Fallen Angels, part 2

I wrote Part One of the Nephilim and laid the scriptural groundwork for the fact that before the Flood, fallen angels took women, all that they chose, and mated with them. (Genesis 6:1-2). The result was a hybrid race called The Nephilim, or Mighty Men of Old, of Men of Renown. There have been two ‘irruptions’ (opposite of eruption. Irruption is bursting in, rather than exploding out.) One irruption was before the flood, when Genesis 6 speaks of it, and the other was after the flood, which Genesis 6 also confirms. In addition, the race of giants were spoken by their tribal names (Anakim, Raphaim, Emim) throughout the Old Testament until David was sent to stamp out the last of these tribes. Finally there seemed to be relief from the ungodly mating of angels and human women. No weird races have been spotted since then.

But in the Olivet Discourse, Jesus spoke of the Days of Noah, warning that the same conditions plaguing the earth then would be repeated at the end of days. One of those conditions was the infestation of Fallen Angels taking women and producing ungodly progeny as just mentioned. Then, the thoughts of men were of only evil continually (Gen 6:5) and the implication as that it was due to the Nephilim. Noah was found to be perfect in his generations, or bloodlines, untainted by the hybridization of the plan of the fallen angels.

The unusual amount of Unidentified Flying Objects in my opinion are fallen angels, hovering at the edge of our dimension, waiting for the day when the Holy Spirit will be removed from the earth (an act that also preceded judgment as in Gen 6:3) to have their way with sin upon the world. I also believe the current  fascination with vampires in all levels of the culture is also due to the Fallen Angels. I wrote about that, here. Last, I mentioned that the myths from pagan religions also spoke of celestial beings, gods, that came down and mated with women in a variety of ways, in some cases transfiguring themselves into animals, other men, or even showers of coins in order to seduce the women. In some cases, the ‘gods’ simply enchanted them. In most cases, the myths spoke of the women falling into a drugged state, whether through the enchantments of the gods or because of wine drunk at festivals or orgies that they had attended. Remember the enchantment and the transfiguration.

Let’s examine some of the New Testament scriptures that may allude to the infestation of fallen angels mating with women in the end of the end time and certainly the Tribulation.

Paul told us in no uncertain terms that false apostles will roam the earth from his day to the end of days. We should not be surprised at this, “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.” (2 Corinthians 11:14).

It is good to look at the original Greek words. Most of the English translations say satan “masquerades” or “disguises” himself into an angel of Light. King James uses “transforms.” The Greek word is “metaschématizó” and it means “change the outward appearance of something, to transfigure.” Satan AND his fallen angels can change their outward appearance to something else as it suits them. It is important to note that the word as it is used, ‘transfigure’ is a different one that used for when Jesus transfigured on Mount Tabor, (Mt 17:1-2). That word is metamorphoó, meaning to change from the inside out. Satan cannot change his spots as a leopard can’t change his spots. (Jer 13:23). But he can change enough on the outside to fool the unwary.

Those unwary are prophesied to be silly women. (2 Tim 3:1-6). Let’s unpack the following verses a bit.

Gen 6:5, Titian, “Profane Love (Vanity)” I wonder who that man is, creeping in, & whom the mirror is turned towards?

In those days: “men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5, KJV)

Men will have a form of godliness, a “morphósis” or an outward appearance only. Of these kind, they creep into houses, and lead silly captive women away who are laden with diverse lusts.” Strange. These men who have an outward appearance of godliness, men who are mentioned in the middle of a passage where every unsavory kind of behavior is described, these men appear godly and will worm their way into homes where silly women are ensnared and captivated. Duped and enchanted, these women are drenched in lust, and will respond to these men and be “aichmalótizó-” captivated and ensnared. Hmmm.

Then the verse continues immediately by mentioning Jannes and Jambres withstanding Moses. These were the two magicians who were Pharaoh’s sorcerers. Of all the men who rebelled against God in the bible, these two are mentioned here in connection with carrying lustful women away. Not Saul, not Achan, not Herod or Esau or Cain. The two divinely inspired examples purposely written here are two sorcerers who have an appearance of godliness and take women by enchantment. It is reminiscent of the fallen angels who took women, all that they chose, and mated with them.

The verse goes further in verse 13, saying “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse __ deceiving and being deceived”. Note the difference between ‘evil men’ and ‘seducers’. Other translations say imposters. Why the distinction between the two? Is not an evil man a seducer and vice versa? And imposter? Well, not when he is an enchanter, as the Greek word for seducer shows. The Greek word seducer/imposter  means, “This person uses their verbal spells and incantations to give the (false) impression they can do miracles, a wailer, enchanter, a sorcerer, a swindler.” Like Jannes and Jambres, enchanters doing false miracles. The verse above says that satan “masquerades” as an angel of light, which is an imposter, and we are also told that he can perform false miracles to fool people.

I am just posing some thoughts on these words in the verses and their deeper meaning within the context. When you really begin looking at the language, and learning the original meanings of the Greek words, it begins to perk me up to the possibilities this is what Jesus and Paul were alluding to about perilous times and the Days of Noah.

Here is my summary of the verses from Jesus and Paul: in the last days, seducers, magicians, enchanters and imposters will come, masquerading as godly, that have light but are dark, that pretend godliness but are the opposite, captivate and then lead away lustful women just as they did in the Days of Noah when every inclination was evil.

I didn’t realize this was getting long, so next time in Part 3, I’ll go into the mighty men who are prophesied to be behind the economy in the Tribulation, also vampirism and drug-induced states where silly women fall captive to these men- i.,e. the vampire’s erotic gaze.

Sun Unleashes ‘Spectacular’& Powerful Eruption
“The sun unleashed a massive solar storm today (June 7) in a dazzling eruption that kicked up a vast cloud of magnetic plasma that appeared to rain back down over half of the sun’s entire surface, NASA scientists say. The solar storm hit its peak at about 2:41 a.m. EDT (0641 GMT), but the actual flare extended over a three-hour period, said C. Alex Young, a solar astrophysicist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center who runs a website called The Sun Today, in a video describing the event.”

“The sun produced a quite spectacular prominence eruption that had a solar flare and high-energy particles associated with it, but I’ve just never seen material released like this before,” Young said. “It looks like somebody just kicked a giant clod of dirt into the air and then it fell back down.” [Video: See the sun’s June 7 solar flare and eruption] … An alert by the NOAA-operated Space Weather Prediction Center stated that the solar flare could create a strong geomagnetic storm on Wednesday (June 9) from the event’s coronal mass ejection (CME), an explosion of charged particles triggered by the flare. … “It’s nothing we really have to worry about,” Young said in his video. “It’s just really, really beautiful.” … It is somewhat unique because at many places in the eruption there seems to be even cooler material —at temperatures less than 80,000 Kelvin,” SDO scientists explained.” That last reference was in relation to the fact that the flare wasn’t even the temperature it should be. It was clocked at 80,000 Kelvin (143,540 degrees Fahrenheit ) when ejections of this kind are usually 900,000F at the corona to tens of millions of degrees F in an ejection. And he understatingly calls this “somewhat unique”?? Fear God, man, fear God!

In the UK Daily Mail, they report “Hotting up: Sun wakes up from sleep for busiest sunspot cycle in years and threatens to disrupt Earth communications and power“
“Of the flare, scientists say, “This one was rather dramatic,’ said Bill Murtagh, programme co-ordinator at the NWS’s Space Weather Prediction Centre, describing the M-2 (medium-sized) solar flare that peaked at 1:41 am Eastern time in the United States, or 0541 GMT on Monday. ‘We saw the initial flare occurring and it wasn’t that big but then the eruption associated with it — we got energy particle radiation flowing in and we got a big coronal mass ejection,’ he said. ‘You can see all the materials blasting up from the sun so it is quite fantastic to look at.’ ‘Generally it is not going to cause any big problems, it will just have to be managed,’ he said.”

I’ve been watching the sun over the last few years, slowly becoming familiar with space weather and all its associated terms and meanings. The sun is an amazing solar object and the delicate balance we enjoy with is as earthlings is even more astounding. If you look at Creation Day 4, God put the sun and the moon and the stars in their positions for definite purposes, and those purposes were designed to directly benefit us. The sun is not just an object to admire or an object for scientists to study, the sun has a purpose for us.

“Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night.” (Genesis 1:14-16). The first purpose was to create day and night. The night allows us rest. Nightly rest maintains our biorhythms. If you know how fearfully and wonderfully we are made, you know that the engine that is the human body is a wonder. For one example, if you were to take all the DNA in our bodies that is contained in each of our trillions of cells, and connect it together, and stretch it out, it would reach the moon and back 500,000 times. That’s right. And that is just one miracle that is our body. We need sleep, and because the earth rotates around the sun, we can rest in the cool dark night. The sun provides relief from the searing heat, depending on where you live. The US and France are both enduring a heat wave now and we know how much excessive heat interrupts the body, the daily routines on earth, and electrical power. Night allows certain animals to hunt and that maintains the balance of the ecosystem. It refreshes with dew that collects overnight. Those are just a few of the signs that the sun gives us through night and day.

“Jesus replied, “There are twelve hours of daylight every day. During the day people can walk safely. They can see because they have the light of this world. It is when he walks by night that he stumbles, for he has no light.” (John 11:9-10)

The moon, which reflects the sun, serves as a marker for a 24 hour day for those cultures who use the moon to set lengths of days, like the Israelites do. The sun and moon and stars offer aid to navigation, serving as signs in the day and the night that until recently with the advent of GPS, allowed sailors and travelers of every culture to find their way.

The LORD said that the sun will also be a sign for seasons. Because the earth rotates around the sun over the course of a year, we have different seasons. Only very recently have we as a planetary population become non-agrarian. For most of the 6000 years humans have been on earth, we have planted by the sun and by the seasons. The very first curse God gave Adam at the Fall was that the ground would be cursed, and planting and harvesting would be hard. (Genesis 3:17-19).

So the sun has been our friend for days and years and seasons. It gives light and it gives rest from light. It sets the day and the seasons according to God’s decree (Daniel 2:21). However, in the Tribulation period of judgment, the sun will not be our friend. It will become our enemy. The LORD put the sun and the moon and the stars in place to help us and in the Judgment period, they will not be of help. In Revelation 8:12 a third of the sun was struck with darkness. By Rev 16:8-9 the angel pours out a bowl and scorching heat sears all who are unlucky enough to wander outside. In Revelation 16:10 the sun goes out completely and there is darkness. The Lord sets the sun and the Lord strikes the sun. Worse, the antichrist messes with the times and the seasons. (Daniel 7:25). How can he do that, you wonder? Well, we didn’t always have a Leap Year. The seasons have been changed several times before by adjusting the length of a month or even a week. The sun and moon and stars will fail us, and interfere with those on planet earth in a big way. Perhaps we are seeing His power now as the precursors increase in advance of the Tribulation. You notice the language the scientists used in the two articles about the most recent Coronal Mass Ejection. “astonishing”, “Somewhat unique”, ‘never before seen’, “fantastic”, “dramatic”… And the last line about having to manage the results of the CME is really pitiful. The sun is acting up and its behavior is becoming more astonishing each month. At some point, its ejections will NOT be “manageable.” The interruptions to earth’s people in terms of failed electronics, failed grids, failed navigation systems, failed satellites and communications will be completely unmanageable. If God judged Adam for his sin by cursing the ground he walked on, toiled in, and labored to grow sustenance, are we any different? People should expect labor, pain, toil, inconvenience, and curse in this upcoming judgment period related to the sun. It was set there at His pleasure and He takes it away at His pleasure.

I am glad that during that period, I will be standing in His light! Citizens of New Jerusalem have no need of the sun because as Isaiah prophesied in chapter 60:20 — “Your sun will no longer set, Nor will your moon wane; For you will have the LORD for an everlasting light, And the days of your mourning will be over.” Any person who recognizes their sins are preventing them from having a relationship with Him who set the objects in the heavens and asks Jesus forgiveness of those, will be in His Light forever, too. Do it soon, the “spectacular and powerful eruptions” of the sun are warnings that only increase in power and menace, showing us the time is short.

The Nephilim and the Fallen Angels: Part 1

There is a strange doctrine spoken of in the bible, in Genesis 6, and alluded to in several other places in the Old and the New Testaments. The doctrine is also prophesied to occur again in the last days. Strange as this one is, it behooves us to pursue doctrines in good faith, to learn what the Word may be saying to us. It involves the Fallen angels, women, and the Nephilim, their ungodly offspring.

That the fallen angels came to earth and mated with women, is a certainty in my interpretation, though others try to make it into what the scriptures say it’s not but by so doing twist the scriptures to adhere to their pre-suppositions. I always take the plain meaning when it is presented. Here is what the verse says, you decide-
“And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.” (Genesis 6:1-2)

In the next verses God determined to destroy all living matter on the earth, except for Noah, who had found grace with the LORD.

Could it be? Fallen angels mated with women, took them, actually, and offspring were born? But angels can’t have sex, you say. They cite Mark 12:25, or Matthew 22:30: “For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.” The verse says they do not marry, not that they cannot. Angels are eternal, and eternal beings have no need to make more of themselves. They’re eternal. Unless they have an evil goal in mind, that is.

The Genesis verse continues, “There were giants [Nephilim] in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.” (Genesis 6:4-5, NKJV)

The NIV and King James use Nephilim instead of “giants”. Who were these “mighty men”? One was Goliath, a giant for sure, along with his brothers. (1 Samuel 14:4;2 Samuel 21:18-22 KJV). Og, King of Bashan was another. “For only Og king of Bashan was left of the remnant of the Rephaim. Behold, his bedstead was an iron bedstead; it is in Rabbah of the sons of Ammon. Its length was nine cubits and its width four cubits by ordinary cubit.” That means his bed was 18′ X 8′. (Deuteronomy 3:11). Raphaim, from which their tribe was named, means giant, from the Hebrew Rapha.

The giants were on earth in the Land shown by God to Joshua. He and the 12 spies saw that the grape clusters were so large they had to be carried by two men (Numbers 13:13) and that the Anakites were there. Anak means long necked giant and in Deut 1:26-28 & 2:10-11 we learn that they were descended from the Rapha.

There are many other examples, but it seems that the fallen angels of the earliest days of humanity on earth, took women, and the women bore children who were hybrids, half human and half celestial. The women were killed in the flood and the angels who did this were rounded up and jailed in chains in the lowest abyss (Tartarus) until judgment (Jude 1:6) If you know your pagan religions, and later the Greek and Roman mythology, this factual event that the bible describes is represented in mythology of the ‘gods’ who came to earth and took women, producing half-celestial, half human hybrids, such as Hercules.

Some examples from Greek mythology are Antiope, the daughter of the Boeotian river god Asopus. Her beauty attracted Zeus, who, assuming the form of a satyr, took her by force. Zeus was busy, he also took Leda while disguised as a swan, and he took Semele as a smooth seducer. Zeus took Alcmene by transfiguring himself into the image of her husband. Zeus resorted to deception to get at Callisto. Callisto had taken a vow of chastity as one of the women who served Artemis, but He came to her disguised as Artemis, and when she let down her guard Zeus raped her. Zeus came to Danae as a shower of golden coins. Neptune took Aethra by force. The satyrs chased everyone.

In ancient mythology, the ‘gods’ who came down from the heavens could enchant, seduce, transfigure, and take all the women that they chose, who later bore hybrid children endowed with supernatural powers and who were giants. In mythology Hercules and Perseus are two examples. In the bible, these were Og, Goliath, Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, who were the children of Anak; and many others individuals and tribes of giants who were mighty men of renown. You see the parallels.

The Fallen angels under the direction of Satan attempted to corrupt the bloodline of the people whom Jesus said would spring forth the savior. They were successful enough so that by the time of the Flood, the intents of people’s hearts was only evil, continually. Noah was perfect in his generations, meaning, his bloodline was untainted by the genetic corruption the fallen angels were wreaking. God judged all humans and all of the fallen angels who had done this, but spared Noah and the other 7 because they had found grace. The fallen angels didn’t stop, though. After the Flood, there was a second infestation of the Nephilim, resulting progeny of the fallen angels and women whom they chose (“…and also after that” Gen 6:4). These tribes, several of which I mentioned above, were active in the Land until David. After David wiped out the last of them, this particular kind of assault on humanity seems to have sunk into the recesses of myth and cultural memory. Until, perhaps, the Tribulation.

There have been many books written on the subject. It seems to fascinate, and I admit it fascinates me too. I’ll write part two next, in which I discuss the current vampire obsession, and examine whether it is related to the Nephilim after all. There are some scriptures in the New Testament that the Spirit gave me interesting and deeper insight into, and have investigated and which may well be alluding to the third irruption of these fallen angels and their progeny, the mighty men of old, men of renown. I’ll share those with you next time for your consideration.

The Word is like diatomaceous earth

Diatomaceous earth is a naturally occurring, soft, silicon based sedimentary rock. It can be easily crumbled into a fine white to off-white powder. Used often in pest control, it is sprinkled around the outdoors of a home or inside on a carpet, and it has few side-effects that poisonous powders or chemicals do.

The powder feels abrasive, similar to pumice powder. That’s because diatomaceous earth is made of of fossilized remains of diatoms, a type of hard-shelled algae.

 Matthew 13:15 – “For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes–so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.'” Jesus was speaking of the fulfillment of the prophecy of Isaiah, in answer to the disciples’ question as to why He spoke in parables. He said that the disciples were listening, and their hearts were open to the truth, but others had hard hearts and could not hear.

“Isaiah describes a spiritual state that existed in the time of Christ, and is often met still, when, on account of hardness of heart and love of the world, men cannot understand the gospel and be converted. It is caused by their own fault. If they would fall out with sin, and come to Christ with a broken and contrite spirit, they would be healed.” Commentary

Diatomaceous earth works as a pest control agent because it pierces the exoskeleton of the pest. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” The Word pierces the hardened exoskeleton of sin that encases us, exposing our soft soul to the living Word. Its seed will be planted in us, and by the Spirit, may grow.

Do not be afraid to proclaim the Word at every occasion. Visualize yourself as you do so, as sprinkling diatomaceous earth. The powder lays there, ready to pierce those with whom it comes into contact, even after you are long gone. Sprinkle it liberally! It often is not welcomed because it does pierce. But the piercing is necessary to get through the exoskeleton so the seed can settle on the good ground.

“Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow: And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up. And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth: But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred. And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.” ~Mark 4:3-9

Pray for hearts to be pierced by the Word, for the heart to be prepared as good ground, and for seeds to bear fruit. Therefore may His kingdom be expanded in His glory, Amen.

Our days are numbered

I heard an Adrian Rogers sermon several years ago that stayed with me. He talked about how people delay their decision for or against Jesus, thinking they have lots of time to go into that. Rogers shared three deaths that were unexpected, sudden, and odd that shows we don’t have the time we think we do. One was when a man was lawnmowing and ran over a nail, which the mower threw up and it went into his heart. The other was a woman walking by a building at the same time a person sitting on the edge of the sill nudged a plant pot and it fell out the window onto her head. His point was, decide now, today, what you will believe.

There have beem some equally odd deaths this week that brought his sermon to mind again.

Woman Split in Half by Subway
“A New York City woman died when she fell on the subway tracks. According to reports, a 21-year-old was killed after she passed out and fell in front of a New York subway train. Witnesses stated that she was was standing on the platform of the Upper East side station when she fainted. The unconscious woman tumbled onto the tracks as the oncoming train was pulling into the station when she was cut in half. Police said was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman has been identified as Fatoumata Binta Amina originally from Ghana, who had been studying at Borough of Manhattan Community College.”

Rock Thrown From Mower Kills Passing Woman
“A freak highway accident left one woman dead and the Georgia Department of Transportation trying to answer questions. A Georgia DOT crew was mowing the grass on the side of a sparsely-traveled rural highway. At the exact same time, a car with five passengers passed by.”(The mower) ran over a rock. The rock was a pretty good-sized rock. But it was launched from the side of the bush hog,” said Sgt. Chad Mann, of the Troup County Sheriff’s Office. Annie Lee, 58, was sitting in the back seat with her family when the volleyball-sized rock smashed through the windshield, grazed the driver and killed her instantly. Police said it was a shocking incident, but not one that could have easily been prevented or one that would happen again.”This was an isolated freak incident,” said Mann.”

The woman was sitting in the back. The rock went through the windshield, missing the driver and the passenger, and hurtled toward Ms Lee, and she was killed.

On June 3, 13-year-old dies after getting hit by pitch“
“13-year-old Little Leaguer Hayden Walton, from Winslow, AZ, was killed Tuesday when a baseball hit him in the chest as he was attempting to bunt. “He took an inside pitch right in the chest,” Winslow Little League official Jamey Jones said. “After that he took two steps to first base and collapsed.” He died Wednesday morning at a local hospital. Paramedics said the cause was commotio cordis. His heart stopped after he was hit by the pitch.”

Just like that. Tragic.

Think about it, one moment you are standing on the train platform and the next second you are in hell. Or heaven. One moment you are laughing with your family in the back seat of the car and the next second you are in heaven. Or hell. It happens that fast. Paul didn’t leave any time for there to be limbo, or to hang around and wait for the Ghost Whisperer to show up. He said if you are absent from the body you are with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8) The rapture takes place in the blink of an eye, where your bodies are transformed from flesh to eternal in 1/150th of a second. The same happens with many people in the way they die. It happens instantly, just like it did this week for Ms Lee and Ms. Amina.

The bible says our days are numbered. “Man’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed.” (Job 14:5). David cried out, “Show me, O LORD, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting is my life.” (Psalm 39:4). As Matthew Henry explains, He prays to God to make him sensible of the shortness and uncertainty of life and the near approach of death (v. 4): Lord, make me to know my end and the measure of my days. He does not mean, “Lord, let me know how long I shall live and when I shall die.” We could not, in faith, pray such a prayer; for God has nowhere promised to let us know, but has, in wisdom, locked up that knowledge among the secret things which belong not to us, nor would it be good for us to know it. But, Lord, make me to know my end, means, “Lord, give me wisdom and grace to consider it (Deu. 32:29) and to improve what I know concerning it.”

Do you have the wisdom and grace to consider your end, and the courage to improve what you know concerning it? It could happen any time. Repenting after death is too late. Now is the acceptable time. Now.

Astronomy news: 6 eclipses in 2011, NASA notes it’s "a rarity"

There’s lots of reasons for sky watchers to keep looking up, the most important is because we are commanded to keep watching for Him, but another one is as NASA notes, “Four partial solar and two total lunar eclipses take place in 2011. This 4:2 combination of solar and lunar eclipses in a single year is rather rare with only six cases during the 21st Century (2011, 2029, 2047, 2065, 2076 and 2094). The first and last eclipses always occur in January and December. The dates and types of eclipses during 2011 are as follows:”
2011 Jan 04: Partial Solar Eclipse
2011 Jun 01: Partial Solar Eclipse
2011 Jun 15: Total Lunar Eclipse
2011 Jul 01: Partial Solar Eclipse
2011 Nov 25: Partial Solar Eclipse

Six times in a year out of 100 years is a rarity indeed.

MSNBC reports and uses the word rare as well, “Rare treat coming: Three eclipses in June and July“. Sorry, the partial solar midnight sun eclipse is already gone by.

‘Midnight’ solar eclipse of June 2 “The eclipse begins on Thursday, June 2, at dawn in northern China and Siberia, then moves across the Arctic, crossing the International Date Line and ending in the early evening of Wednesday, June 1, in northeastern Canada. That’s right: The eclipse begins on Thursday and ends on Wednesday because of the International Date Line. Because observers in northern Russia and Scandinavia will be observing it over the North Pole, they will actually see it in what is, for them, the middle of the night of June 1 and 2.”
Solar eclipse no one will see on July 1 “Exactly a month later, on Friday, July 1, an equally bizarre eclipse will occur in the Antarctic. Because this is the southern winter, the sun will be below the horizon for almost all of Antarctica, except for a small uninhabited stretch of coast due south of Madagascar. The only place the eclipse will clear the horizon will be in a small area of the Southern Ocean, far to the south of South Africa. Chances are that this eclipse will be witnessed only by penguins and sea birds.”
Lunar eclipse of June 15 “Exactly halfway in between these two partial solar eclipses, there will be a total eclipse of the moon on Wednesday, June 15. The eclipse will be visible for millions of people in Africa, the Middle East and southwestern Asia. It will be visible as the moon rises in the early evening in South America and Europe, and as the moon sets before dawn in eastern Asia and Australia.”

If you have telescope or binoculars, keep looking to the skies. Although, some things are happening for which image enlargement is not necessary–

Columnist advises forcibly tattooing climate change deniers. Or, just kill them

Sidney Glover, a Sydney Morning Herald columnist, wrote a piece today that is shocking in its incivility and intolerance. What have we come to when an influential writer has a piece published that advocates mutilation or death to those who disagree with him? He wrote in “The dangers of bone-headed beliefs“–

“Surely it’s time for climate-change deniers to have their opinions forcibly tattooed on their bodies. Not necessarily on the forehead; I’m a reasonable man. Just something along their arm or across their chest so their grandchildren could say, ”Really? You were one of the ones who tried to stop the world doing something? And why exactly was that, granddad?”

A reasonable man? Forcing tattoos on people who deny that man causes change to climate? He recants a bit though in the next sentence, claiming that forcing tattoos on people is “a bit Nazi-creepy.” So instead, he visualizes their death.

“So how about they are forced to buy property on low-lying islands, the sort of property that will become worthless with a few more centimetres of ocean rise, so they are bankrupted by their own bloody-mindedness? Or what about their signed agreement to stand, in the year 2040, lashed to a pole at a certain point in the shallows off Manly? If they are right and the world is cooling – ”climate change stopped in the year 1998” is one of their more boneheaded beliefs – their mouths will be above water. If not … OK, maybe the desire to see the painful, thrashing death of one’s opponents is not ideal.”

YA THINK?

The first point to recognize is that it is never, ever appropriate to call for the death of people with whom one disagrees. Mr Glover’s credibility was immediately bankrupted the moment his frustration with people who share an opinion differing from his overtook his good sense, propriety, and manners. How “intolerant.”

Secondly, I would have thought that the scam science behind climate change that was uncovered at Climate-gate would have punctured at least the animosity, if not the entire proposal. Apparently the animosity against climate change deniers still exists, though now, of course, the reason for it is even more laughable because it doesn’t have a scientific leg to stand on.

Third, the opinion piece proposed the death or mutilation of people who do not share the writer’s view. But such an opinion is not born of a moment and written in a second. The writer must first feel the rising frustration for a period of time, which actually tipped over into rage, given the level of action he demands. He used the word ‘frustrating’ but when you’re frustrated with someone you shrug and throw up your hands, not call for their execution in such a lengthy fashion as staking out at low tide. That’s blind rage. It must have been visualized, written, edited. Then published. Mr Glover has spent a lot of time with his anger, and he selected this topic from among many others from which he could have chosen. 

Fourth, as a Christian, I agree that global warming (now called “climate change”) is happening. It has always happened, since the Flood. The climate changes. The term ‘global warming’ was actually coined inadvertently by a scientist named Dr. Wallace Broeckner, who was responding to the twenty-year decline in temperatures in a paper and wondered if a global warming was about to occur. That was 1975. Even as recently as 1992, Mr Glover forgets that there was little consensus on the facts of global warming among scientists. In a paper written by Richard S. Lindzen titled, “Global Warming: The Origin and Nature of the Alleged Scientific Consensus” he says, “Most of the literate world today regards “global warming” as both real and dangerous. Indeed, the diplomatic activity concerning warming might lead one to believe that it is the major crisis confronting mankind. The June 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, focused on international agreements to deal with that threat, and the heads of state from dozens of countries attended. I must state at the outset, that, as a scientist, I can find no substantive basis for the warming scenarios being popularly described.”

Then Climategate occurred in 2009. The UK Telegraph reported, “The conspiracy behind the Anthropogenic Global Warming myth has been suddenly, brutally and quite deliciously exposed after a hacker broke into the computers at the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit (aka  CRU) and released 61 megabytes of confidential files onto the internet. When you read some of those files – including 1079 emails and 72 documents – you realise just why the boffins at CRU might have preferred to keep them confidential. As Andrew Bolt puts it, this scandal could well be “the greatest in modern science”. These alleged emails – supposedly exchanged by some of the most prominent scientists pushing AGW theory – suggest: ‘Conspiracy, collusion in exaggerating warming data, possibly illegal destruction of embarrassing information, organised resistance to disclosure, manipulation of data, private admissions of flaws in their public claims and much more.’ “

So with all the scientific error, muddiness, myth, and hollowness of the climate change theories, Mr Glover is still so sure of his position that he calls for death and mutilation of those who dare to disagree. Perilous times indeed, when intolerance and blind rage outpaces debate and reason.

Though I agree the climate is changing, the difference I have with Mr Glover is that I disagree that it is man-caused. It is not. It is God-caused. There is nothing that mere man could or would to to disrupt the cycles set forth by God and cause an extinction. God is fully in control of creation, at all times. And there we have the root of the antipathy toward ‘climate change deniers.’ They are in reality angry because we do not agree with their atheism, instead we put the Lord over ourselves and not ourselves over ourselves. Antipathy toward God will always rouse ire disproportional to the situation.

Nebuchadnezzar was in a rage and a fury, calling for the deaths of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. (Daniel 3:12-14) because they refused to worship the image he had set up. In Luke 4 and Luke 6, listeners of Jesus were driven into a blind rage, in Luke 4, they determined to throw Jesus off a cliff. In Acts 7:54, they who heard Stephen’s admission of the truth became so incensed they gnashed their teeth and stoned him to death. The truth rouses ire.

I am one who refuses to bow down to the idol of man-made climate change. Instead I bow down to the Lord’s divine power and control over creation. The irony is, Mr Glover, unless he repents and understands man’s proper place in creation, is the one who will wind up with a tattoo. THAT is the real danger of bone-headed beliefs.

Weather channel data on record-smashing tornado season

Re-Post in part from The Weather Channel: “If it seems like this year’s tornado season has been unusually severe, that’s because it has. The Weather Channel and weather.com’s Tornado Expert Dr. Greg Forbes says the 2011 tornado numbers are a mind-boggling 106% above average. And the year is not over yet. “It took until December in 2010 to have as many tornadoes as we’ve already had this year,” says Dr. Forbes. Needless to say, by virtue of an inconceivable April, we’re on a record pace. While we’ve had tornadoes in every month this year, the extreme tornado outbreaks began in April and continued through May. Dr. Forbes keeps a meticulous list of every tornado report throughout the year. He’s crunched the numbers to compare 2011 to every other year in the past decade:

“Only 8 years in history have had more tornadoes for a full year than we’ve already had this year, the most being 1819 in 2004,” Dr. Forbes points out. “We’ve had almost twice as many tornadoes thus far this year as happened to date in that record year (2004)! As to what to expect in the rest of the year, Dr. Forbes points out the year is only halfway done.”

As many always say, in vainly attempting to show that all is well, weather always has happened and always will happen, they are half right. Weather has always happened, but we see from the data on earthquakes, volcanoes, and tornadoes that MUCH MORE weather is happening than ever before. Notice the data shows that while number of tornadoes overall this year is up 106%, tornadoes for April are up +367%. In another blog entry I’d shown that weather men with a straight face said that it seemed like there were more tornadoes because there were more people experiencing and reporting them. I don’t think a plus 367 percent increase over average is commensurate with a proportional rise in population since last year. That’s my kind way of saying, get real. It was a lame excuse then and it is a lame excuse now in the face of data from a credible source. It’s God, people. The end times are here.
