Palestinian statehood vote set, one European bank, Iran nukes and more

I flabbergasted at the number of news articles that have direct prophetic implications. I really am. Look at these:

ECB lawyers say yes to single banking system
“European Central Bank lawyers have today said that a single bank supervisory system can be set up without changes to European Union treaties. Some countries, notably Germany and Sweden, have questioned whether EU law allows the ECB to take up supervisory tasks and whether there would be a conflict with its monetary policy role. European Central Bank lawyers have today said that a single bank supervisory system can be set up without changes to European Union treaties.-The leaders of EU member states agreed at their summit on 28-29 June that the ECB should supervise all of the eurozone’s 6,000 banks and urged the European Parliament and Council of Ministers to fast-track the necessary legislation so that the new system could start being implemented on 1 January.”

So they laid the infrastructure for a one-Europe banking system to begin in a few weeks. Now all they need is someone to oversee it. Oops, that is the next story!

ECB Lays Out Timetable for Single Euro-Area Bank Supervision
“European Central Bank (ECB) President Mario Draghi told a banking conference on Friday the creation of a single supervisor was essential to creating a fiscal union and breaking the negative relationship between government indebtedness and wobbly banks that has been dragging down the European economy. “The single supervisory mechanism should also strengthen the European market,” Draghi said, adding that all EU member states, even those outside the euro zone should be able to participate.”

We know by the time Revelation 13 comes into fulfillment that the antichrist will have solidified his hold on the world to the point where his proposal to institute a mark on each person’s forehead or hand in order to participate in the economy will take place.

The Tribulation is only 7 years long (Daniel 9:27). A lot happens in that time period. The Tribulation will not be a time to set things up, but a time for immediate fulfillment. The setting up is taking place now. When the rapture happens then the other plans the Lord has for all those left behind will be ready to come to fulfillment quickly. It is like the electrician laying the wires and making the connections and all it needs to the Master electrician to flip the switch the get the electricity running.

So this news of a one-banking system in the very area the antichrist is prophesied to emerge from is very, very interesting. And the plans for a one-banking supervisor to oversee it all is even more interesting.

Iran: Nuclear enrichment advances with “intensity”
Iran will step up its uranium enrichment program by sharply increasing the number of centrifuges used to make nuclear fuel, a senior official said Wednesday, in direct defiance of Western demands. The statement by Iran’s nuclear chief, Fereidoun Abbasi, is likely to escalate tensions. The West suspects Iran’s nuclear program could be headed toward weapons production and has imposed punishing sanctions to try to persuade Tehran to stop enrichment.”

Iran’s entire leadership, from Ayatollah Khameini and other ayatollahs, to the Revolutionary Guard, to Ahmadinejad, intend with every fiber of their being to wipe Israel from the face of the earth. This is their highest religious duty. The want to erase the Jew from the world and in so doing cause a religious jihad that will bring chaos. This allegedly proves to Muhammad that they are serious about their faith, and it prepares the way for him to ‘return’ to earth and conclude the job of ridding the world of Jews and Christians and any other non-Muslim. The peace process and economic sanctions fail with them because they do not want peace.

Jesus said immediately prior to His coming there will be wars and rumors of wars. (Matthew 24:6). Revelation 6:3-4 shows the second seal being opened and when it is peace is taken from the earth. War is coming.

I don’t want to be alarmist. But the bible says what it says. I want to bring two verses to your attention and let you study and pray and see what they may mean. The first is Zechariah 14:12–

“And this shall be the plague with which the LORD will strike all the peoples that wage war against Jerusalem: their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.”

This is something that happens when people stand at ground zero under a thermonuclear bomb.

Second verse is Ezekiel 39:14-16,

“They will set apart men to travel through the land regularly and bury those travelers remaining on the face of the land, so as to cleanse it. At the end of seven months they will make their search. 15And when these travel through the land and anyone sees a human bone, then he shall set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the Valley of Hamon-gog. 16(Hamonah is also the name of the city.) Thus shall they cleanse the land.”

Hamonah means multitude. This is the process people use in biohazard cleanup situations. The verse is referring to the conclusion of the Gog Magog war, in which Iran participates, a war that occurs when Israel is unsuspecting and at peace. God uses this war to bring Israel back to Him.

Iran will continue on their path of destruction via nuclear war.

Politics is active in Israel. With the call by Netanyahu for early elections, the pre-election primaries are running. Hardliners and conservatives are winning spots on the Knesset, particularly one guy who is hot for the Third Temple.

Building the third temple
This is just the beginning,’ says Feiglin. ‘Eventually, we will build the temple and fulfill our purpose in this land’; veteran Begin could lose his seat, Meridor almost certainly will
“Members of the governing Likud party on Monday selected a strongly right-wing slate of candidates for the January 22 Knesset elections, elevating hardliners and relegating moderates.”

Any temple talk, and I mean any, riles the Muslims. The Jews are not allowed to stop walking, to rock, to bow, to carry religious items, to sing, or to chant, if they are even allowed on the Temple Mount. Violations of these rules are immediately and harshly dealt with. So the elevation of a hardliner to the Knesset who is talking of reclaiming the Temple Mount – Al Aqsa to the Muslims – has gotten the Muslims’ attention, big time. Rhe following is their response to Feiglin’s promise for a Third Temple-

Muslims Claim Netanyahu Plans to Build ‘False’ Holy Temple
Netanyahu’s latest building plan for Jerusalem is none other than for the Third Temple, claims Al Aqsa Foundation.
“Al Aqsa officials warn that the “new Likud” is planning to build a “false” Third Holy Temple and divide the Muslim compound. Muslim paranoia of Jews on the Temple Mount had reached panic stages even before this week’s Likud primaries that placed Jewish Leadership faction leader Moshe Feiglin in a ranking that assures his election to the Knesset in January. Arab world media constantly report of Jewish “invasions” of the Temple Mount every time Jews try to ascend the holy site. Israeli authorities enforce the Muslim Waqf policy that forbids Jews to pray there or carry prayer books or other holy articles with them. Worst of all, the Foundation claims that the election results show that Prime Minister Netanyahu soon will announce plans for building the Third Temple, which it describes as “false,” in line with increasingly popular Muslim ideology that the First and Second Temples never existed.”

At the mid point of the Tribulation, the sacrifices at the Temple will be stopped by the antichrist. Stopping them means they must have started at some point. When God is successful in bringing the Jews back to Himself at the conclusion of the Gog Magog war, (Ez 38-39) it is assumed that the peace treaty which comes after that war (

or another war, anyway) will include a provision for the Jews to re-build their temple. Daniel 9:27 says so. (also Matthew 24:15).

The talk of conservative Jews, Third Temples, skirmishes at the Mount….all feed into Daniel 9’s prophecy.

Palestinians Predict Historic UN Vote on Statehood
“The Palestinians predicted a historic U.N. vote recognizing their statehood this week, praising important new support from France on Tuesday and likely backing from other European nations seen as critical to enhancing their international standing. … The General Assembly vote to raise the Palestinians’ status from a U.N. observer to a nonmember observer state is scheduled for Thursday … Unlike the Security Council, there are no vetoes in the General Assembly and the resolution is virtually certain of approval. The 193-member world body is dominated by countries sympathetic to the Palestinian cause and the resolution only requires a majority vote for approval. The U.N. recognition of their statehood would elevate the Palestinians to the same status as the Vatican, another nonmember observer state. … The U.N. recognition, however, would add weight Palestinian claims for a state in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem…”

I wonder how the US will vote. Whether it will be an abstention or a no…or a yes. Joel 3:2 has bearing here–

For behold, in those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, 2 I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. And I will enter into judgment with them there, on behalf of my people and my heritage Israel, because they have scattered them among the nations and have divided up my land.”

Joel Rosenberg said of this prophecy,

“International pressure on Israel to carve up the Holy Land like a Thanksgiving turkey continues to build … Nearly every world leader — and certainly every American president since the Six Day War — has demanded Israel give up significant amounts of territory within Judea, Samaria, and the Golan Heights in order to create a sovereign Palestinian state and make peace with Syria, but never this much territory [as the] Obama plan would… “Historically, we know that the nations have repeated divided the Land of Israel. Prophetically, we know they will continue to do so until the Day of the Lord comes.”

Woe be unto them. Rosenberg said of the Palestinian State vote:

“On Thursday, the Palestinian leadership will ask the United Nations General Assembly to vote on a resolution that will give them enhanced international legal status, not quite a full sovereign state, but very close. The resolution is expected to pass decisively. France, Russia, China and most nations of the world have indicated they will vote “yes” on the resolution. That’s right, the world is poised to say yes to a sovereign Palestinian state despite the fact that Palestinians in Gaza just committed more than 3,000 war crimes last week.”

“–The Bible doesn’t speak precisely to the issue of whether a sovereign Palestinian state will be created or not.
“–That said, I tend to believe the geopolitical and prophetic evidence suggests there will probably be a Palestinian state in the not-too-distant future.
“–International pressure on Israel to cut a deal, divide the Land, and create a Palestinian state is overwhelming, relentless, and intensifying.
“–However, the Bible strongly warns the nations not to divide the Land of Israel and states that all nations who do so will face God’s judgment.”
“–Let us continue to pray for the Prince of Peace — Jesus the Messiah — to draw more and more people in the epicenter to Himself. This is the only true and lasting hope for peace.”

What’s on people’s minds?

What are people thinking about these days? Here are a few short blurbs for you.

One thing people increasingly have on their mind is UFOs. Unidentified Flying Objects have fascinated people for a long time, ever since the late 1940s when the Roswell NM newspaper reported that the Air Force had captured a flying saucer with extra-terrestrial occupants. The mystique of off-planet life visiting us has been in the forefront of science fiction, movies, books, and television (and radio) for decades since. Yet until recently (the last three years) the genre has been marginalized, a notion discussed by the fringe element and not proper living room conversation. At least, if you didn’t want to be considered crazy.

Yet over the last three years UFO sightings have increased 67%, according to an article in Huffington Post. These sightings have occurred in broad daylight, or have wowed thousands at the scene, or have been captured live by cell phone video and photography and uploaded quickly to flickr, youtube, facebook, and other social media. People want to know, what ARE these things?

The HuffPo reports (on their Weird News section) that the White House has opened up a section on their website called ‘We the People’ in which people can pose a question on a petition and the petitions that receive the most signatures will be looked into by White House officials. The article is titled, “Will White House Come Clean on Extraterrestrial Visitation?

“Political activist Stephen Bassett of the Paradigm Research Group posted the petition on September 22, and five days later breached the 5000 signature mark. His petition reads: We, the undersigned, strongly urge the President of the United States to formally acknowledge an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race and immediately release into the public domain all files from all agencies and military services relevant to this phenomenon.”

“Retired Air Force captain Robert Salas has offered up a more subtle petition, asking the Obama administration to “reveal the reality of the UFO phenomenon to the public and disclose information held by government agencies.” He is adamant about the reality of UFOs because he says that in 1967, while in an underground nuclear launch facility at Malmstrom Air Force base in 1967, UFOs approached the facility at the same time the missiles malfunctioned and went offline. He says the malfunction has yet to be explained.”

India came out in all out support for a Palestinian bid for membership of the United Nations as a Security Council committee met behind closed doors to begin considering its application. UN panel held its first meeting on Palestinian statehood bid Friday. After the closed-door meeting of the council’s standing committee on admitting new members, which comprises all 15 council members, Lebanese UN Ambassador Nawaf Salam said the committee unanimously agreed to continue meeting at the expert level next week. That means the US agreed to meet again next week, kicking the Palestinian Authority request to the next level on the  track.

Britain is having the warmest September on record. This follows their coldest summer record. It’s actually been hotter than Hawaii in the UK right now. Yet tornadoes are predicted to batter Britain, and one actually did set off over Brighton this week. “Weather forecasters are warning that things aren’t about to get any better following the coldest summer for 20 years, with torrential rain, winds of up to 65mph and even tornadoes set to batter Britain in September.” Topsy turvy weather for sure.

Volcano experts are globetrotting with increasing frenzy these days. Volcanic action is heating up across the planet. For historical data and trends, you can check here, “USGS/Smithsonian GVP Weekly Volcanic Activity“. Erik Klemetti’s Eruptions blog at Big Think is moving to Wired Science. Be sure to follow Erik over there to keep up with volcano news.

The reports from the Canary Islands are interesting. Dr. Klemetti writes, “We’ve been closely watching the earthquake swarm at the Canary Island’s El Hierro since the middle of the summer and it looks like there has been a dramatic increase in the number and intensity of the seismicity at the volcano. Since mid-July, the small island, which is the top of a shield volcano built by the Canary Hotspot, has registered over 8,000 earthquakes – check out the excellent video of the changing depth and location of seismicity put together by Eruptions reader Lurking…” Islanders are on standby to evacuate the island. “Expert Juan Carlos Carrecedo said: “There is a ball of magma rising to the surface, producing ruptures, we don’t know if it will break through.”

This level of quake activity at a known seismically and volcanically active region is not only of interest in and of itself, but because volcano El Hierro is an island adjacent to the Canary Island of La Palma, home of the predicted ‘island splitting in half and creating a mega tsunami to wipe out US Eastern seaboard’ legend. Though the geology suggests that the prediction is not really legend, it has a basis in reality. Cumbre Vieja is the most active volcano in the Canary Islands. The mountain is actually splitting in half, with movement dividing one flank from another as much as 6 inches per hear. Scientists “fear that the mega-wave — know as a tsunami — could be generated by part of a mountain twice the size of Britain’s Isle of Man crashing into the sea following an eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on La Palma, in the Canary Islands — part of the Spanish island chain off West Africa.”

The “Occupy Wall Street” movement has swept the nation. it is still going strong and getting stronger. Clint Reilly writes, “Are the barons of high finance ever called to account for their avarice, or for the billions squandered by their schemes? I own a San Francisco real estate firm with more than two hundred million in assets. But had I made dumb choices that destroyed my equity in my properties, I would have lost them or gone bankrupt. The financial elite, it seems, plays by a different set of rules. And that’s what has people shaking their heads today. Three years after Wall Street collapsed in a greed fueled conflagration, people from all classes, all ethnicities, and all generations are camped out at Liberty Square in New York City to protest the continued fleecing of America by big banks and corporate chieftains. Other demonstrations built on the same highly-organized model have sprung up in 70 other American cities, including San Francisco, Portland, Memphis, Louisville, Miami, Sacramento and Boston.”

Discontent in the form of protests and riots are sweeping other nations too. This report from Madrid, “Hundreds of thousands of disillusioned Indians cheer a rural activist on a hunger strike. Israel reels before the largest street demonstrations in its history. Enraged young people in Spain and Greece take over public squares across their countries.Their complaints range from corruption to lack of affordable housing and joblessness, common grievances the world over. But from South Asia to the heartland of Europe and now even to Wall Street, these protesters share something else: wariness, even contempt, toward traditional politicians and the democratic political process they preside over.”

————–

As satan increases his grip on the world and as the Lord lifts His hand, that discontent from the human heart to the earth’s core will only grow. I know that people want to hear of the peace of Jesus and the love of Jesus, and those things are unparalleled, to be sure. But my focus is the human sinner. The reason Jesus came to us is to make a way to reconcile ourselves with Him through Him. We sin. He doesn’t. The twain would never meet unless He provided for us through His grace, His shed blood, and His love. Pastor Steve Lawson of Christ Fellowship Baptist Church Mobile, AL preached a stirring and convicting message recently. You can find the video here. Below is one excerpt.

“He is not coming to play games. He is not coming to be docile. He is coming to dominate. He is coming to slaughter. He is the King of kings and He is the Lord of lords. And at the end of this age, He will bolt out of heaven on a white steed and His garments are dripped in blood. The blood of His own enemies and He is coming back to conquer and to damn. You need to make terms of peace with this coming King or you will be subjected in damnation forever and Jesus Christ has made terms of peace. You need to settle out of court with Him. You do not want to go into that final day of conflict with Christ…”

Please settle your account with Jesus today. Pray to Him and acknowledge your sins as crimes against Him, and ask Him to pardon you. He, the Judge, will do so. You don’t need to petition, lobby, beg, or bribe. Just ask, penitently. After your account is settled, THEN you will know His love, His peace, and His joy. But first, take care of the sin.

UN Security Council to take up Palestinian bid on Monday

Haaretz is reporting that in “an unusually fast” move, the UN Security Council will take up the Palestinian proposal to become a full member as a sovereign nation on Monday. It was only on Friday that Palestinian Authority representative Abbas submitted his proposal. All proposals must first go to the Security Council and attain a majority vote, without any vetoes from the 5 permanent members, in order to go forward to the General Assembly. The US is one of the five permanent members having that coveted veto, proposal killing power. The US has said they will veto the proposal. Personally, what the US says and what the US does are two different things. I will believe it only after I see it happen.

Haaretz reports, “The UN Security Council will take up the Palestinian bid for full statehood and UN membership on Monday. This is an unusually fast development compared to the normal tempo of the United Nations. Council president Nawaf Salam of Lebanon told reporters on Friday that the 15-member council would begin discussions at 1900 GMT Monday to take up the application submitted earlier Friday by Abbas to the UN Secretary General. Ban passed the document hours later to the council, whose approval is needed for UN membership and full recognition of statehood.” I believe that 1900 Greenwich Mean Time is 2pm Eastern Standard Time. Although the Russian representative said it will be at 3:00.

The interesting thing about the proposal, aside from the global seizure we are currently having regarding the intractable Palestinian push to destroy Israel, is that the world’s attention is now on that routine and arcane administrative body that until now, no one really seemed to care about.

But at the moment, all eyes are on not only the body, but are questioning its function. Security Council reform is on the UN’s agenda this session. Everyone is saying things like, ‘with the majority of the world wanting the Palestinians to get their state, why should the US be the only one to hold up progress?’ I am not making that up. Time Magazine’s queries are representative:

U.N. Security Council: Is It Time to Veto the Veto?
The U.S. veto, wielded in opposition to a generally-held international consensus, is then perhaps the most unilateral gesture one can make at the world’s most multilateral institution. Why in the 21st century should anybody still have the right to do this? the Security Council with its five veto-wielding permanent members — is a reflection of a long-lapsed status quo. It’s possibly the most glaring anachronism in international affairs.”

Really, Time? You’re just starting to ask these questions now, at the moment the world is teetering on the edge of the most prophetic and dastardly actions ever? The article continues-

“Do the U.K. and France—shorn of their empires, great armies and mired in debt-ridden Europe—really both deserve vetoes? If Russia is a permanent member now, why isn’t India, with its far larger population and more dynamic economy? And what about Japan and Germany, two of the world’s most important economies, still kept at arm’s length in this forum because of their being on the losing side of a war fought some seven decades ago. There’s no shortage of nits to pick.”

Russia says they plan to vote yes on Monday. Of course. In the not-too-distant future, they will attack Israel and try to obliterate her (Ez 38:2-3). The other four permanent, veto-wielding members are China, France, the United Kingdom and the United States. China is being cagey as to their vote, but they said in August, “Wu announced in Cairo that China would “support” the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital – while cannily omitting the detail as to whether China would actually vote for the statehood measure in the Security Council.” The UK is hesitant. “Britain continued to hesitate yesterday in the face of increasingly frantic scenes at the UN, where delegates are preparing for the climax of the Palestinian statehood bid.” But the same article says that “The US is reluctant to veto the motion, fearing a violent reaction in the Arab world.”

The Sri Lanka Sunday Times says ominously that “World peace is at stake“.
“The European nations, especially France and Britain are divided between their alliance with the US and the justification for Palestine’s recognition.” A rock and a hard place, for sure.

The upshot is put succinctly by this AP story carried in the Kansas City Star:
“The Palestinians would need nine of the 15 Security Council votes to accept their bid, and forecasts are difficult because member states have little to gain from making their intentions clear this early.” So we don’t know. But we won’t have long to wait to find out.

The scenarios stemming from actions this week are endless. I can’t even fathom how things might turn out. Maybe the US does not veto and the Palestinians attain their goal. Maybe the US does, and the Palestinians use that action as a justification of our being a tyrant standing in the way of their legitimacy as a people, and bomb us. The Security Council’s reform is on the session’s agenda, maybe the US veto gives them the impetus to change things and the Palestinians get their state after a while. Maybe Israel decides she has had enough and begins a military action that fulfills the Psalm 83 battle. Maybe nothing will happen. But at some point, something will, and soon I believe. Like before the year is out.

According to one Palestinian-based poll, 70.5% of Palestinians expect a third intifada (uprising) to begin this autumn if the deadlock in negotiations is not broken.”

So now we have another date to look toward in the Lord’s progressing plan to ultimately bring an end to sinful humanity: Monday afternoon. These dates are getting shorter and shorter as we hurtle toward each of our individual ultimate fates.

UN General Assembly opens today. Is Palestinian State in our near future? Plus, Obama’s un-diplomatic photo

“U.S. President Barack Obama waves while standing with other leaders during the Open Government Partnership event at the United Nations September 20 in New York City. The United Nations General Assembly kicks off September 21, with leaders from around the world attending.” (Source)

Obama’s quite a guy, isn’t he? I wonder what the guy behind the hand thinks… (PS: it is not a hoax nor photoshopped)

Here are some recent headlines and news excerpts regarding the situation with the Palestinian Authority’s proposal to enact a Palestinian State by UN vote instead of by negotiation:

From Jordan Times: Remember, Jordan has a peace treaty with Israel, one of only two Middle East  nations (along with Egypt) to be peaceful neighbors with Israel, at least on paper.
King blames Israel for derailing peace hopes
AMMAN (JT) – His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday warned that the Israeli stance on peace talks and the turbulence in Syria pose new risks to the security and stability of the Middle East, according to a Royal Court statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra. The King, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal’s Jay Solomon on Monday in New York, expressed concern about the future of the peace process if no efforts succeed in bringing the Palestinians and Israelis back to the negotiating table in the coming couple of days, the statement said. The Monarch, who is currently in New York heading the Jordanian delegation to the 66th session of the UN General Assembly, added that if no progress in the peace process is achieved soon, this will have a negative impact on all. “If we can’t get the Israelis and Palestinians together in the next couple of days then what signal is that for the future process?”

The Jordan Times opinion peace lays out that in the Arab worlds opinion, the moe by the PA is legal.

Legal Move
All the fuss shown by Israel or on its behalf about the imminent Palestinian demand for UN recognition of an independent Palestinian state is neither necessary nor legal.
Given the fact that Israel’s Declaration of Independence, on May 14,1948, was based on the November 29, 1947, UN General Assembly Resolution 181, which recommended the partition of mandate Palestine into two states, it follows that, on the strength of that very same resolution, the Palestinians have the equal right to declare their independence. No matter which party was at fault for the non-implementation of that historic resolution, the fact remains that Resolution 181 is still valid and offers a basis for the recognition of an Arab state in former Palestine, even so late in the hour. There is no statute of limitation on any UN resolution, including 181, nor is there any other resolution that invalidated the initial decision on the matter. This means only one thing: Resolution 181 is still valid and operative. It also means that the Palestinians can go to the UN this month and seek admission on the basis of that decree. The Israeli argument that the Arab side rejected Resolution 181 does neither compromise nor jeopardise the validity of the resolution.”

IRANIAN AMBASSADOR: U.N. VOTE ON PALESTINIAN STATEHOOD IS A ‘STEP TOWARDS WIPING OUT ISRAEL’
The U.S. and other allies are scrambling for a path to push Palestinians back into direct peace negotiations with Israel, but prospects appear to be grim. Diplomatic efforts by Western member states aimed to head off a UN resolution on Palestinian statehood have achieved little or no progress thus far. … In a weekend interview, an Iranian official described the effort as merely another step in a much broader plan. Mojtaba Amani, Iran’s ambassador to Egypt, openly conceded in an interview with Al-Watan al-Arabi, that the PA’s push for full membership as a UN member state “is a step towards wiping out Israel,“ and that ”the Palestinians must follow a correct example and complete all the measures to prevent the Zionist Entity from depriving them their rights.”

From Germany’s Der Spiegel interview with Palestinian Prime Minister Fayyad:
‘An Independent Palestine Will Be Inevitable’

Well, maybe because it was already reported as long as two years ago that Obama has made a secret deal with Fayyad, and that as soon ago as last April Fayyad claimed that by “next year Jerusalem will be our capital‘.

Joel 3:1-2
[a]“In those days and at that time,
when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem,
2 I will gather all nations
and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat.[b]
There I will put them on trial
for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel,
because they scattered my people among the nations
and divided up my land.

It is a big week, prophetically speaking. Please pray!!

‘Palestinians set date for statehood showdown at UN’ (UPDATED)

News we need to know:

Palestinians set date for statehood showdown at UN
September 20 marked for Palestinian UN statehood bid, AFP reports; PA foreign minister says Abbas “will insist on this historic initiative and Ban Ki-moon will present the request to the Security Council.”

“NEW YORK – The Palestinians set September 20th as the date for the much-anticipated vote over Palestinian statehood at the United Nations, according to AFP. Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki informed UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas will ask the international community to recognize Palestine as a sovereign state on the first day of the annual opening gathering at UN headquarters in New York. “Abbas will personally present the request to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon… at the opening of the sixty-sixth session,” he was quoted as saying by the French news wire. “[Abbas] will insist on this historic initiative and Ban Ki-moon will present the request to the Security Council.” The announcement cast aside speculation that the Palestinians might quietly step back from their bid for statehood in response to mounting international pressure against it.”

Haaretz reports, “Next month, Arab members will be at helm of UN bodies with Lebanon holding the rotating presidency of the Security Council and Qatar as chairman of the General Assembly.”

The Jordan Times reports, ““Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will personally present the request to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon… at the opening of the sixty-sixth session,” on September 20, Malki said. Abbas will “insist on this historic initiative and Ban Ki-moon will present the request to the Security Council,” he said. Malki added that the Palestinian Authority chose September because Lebanon, holding the rotating presidency of the Security Council, would be in a strong position to push the bid forward. “Lebanon will hold the presidency of the Security Council in September and this will help us because the president of the council has special prerogatives, which is crucial,” he said.”

How’s that for timing? It will be a tense, nail-biting time as we watch to see what the US will do. Of the five Security Council Permanent members (United States, United Kingdom, France, Russia, China; the P-5) if just one vetoes the proposal, the proposal dies right then, at least, according tot he rules- IF they choose to follow the rules. The US is one of the P5 members. Will we veto? Or will we not veto? Showdown in more ways than one.

In late September Comet Elenin also starts its final month before its closest appearance to earth, which is now projected at .0004AU at its closest appearance (only 37,000 miles!) September could prove very interesting. I really fear for the UN vote on the Palestinian State. God has been very clear about not messing with His people or His land. (Genesis 12:3; Joel 3) Read more here about the effects on the world of dividing God’s land at Joel Rosenberg’s blog and his study of Joel 3.

UN upgrades Palestinian Authority’s Abbas to "Head of State"

From Montreal Gazette:

“The United Nations has assigned head-of-state status to the leader of the Palestinian Authority ahead of an anticipated vote by the world body on whether to recognize Palestinian statehood, a speakers list for the world body’s annual debate shows. An “HS” designation means that Mahmoud Abbas, as the Palestinian Authority president, can speak towards the beginning of the Sept. 21-27 summit alongside other heads of state — and ahead of most heads of government, such as Prime Minister Stephen Harper. In previous years, Abbas has been listed as an “HL” — or “high level” delegate — for the entity of Palestine, which holds UN Observer status.”

When the Montreal Gazette editor inquired about it, he was told it was “a typo.” Sure. Sure it is. Anne Bayefsky of the New York-based monitoring group Eye on the UN caught it. She told the editor of the Gazette, “The UN has pre-judged any vote that might take place on Palestinian statehood…”.

It seems that the boulder is truly rolling pell-mell down the hill toward the inevitable splitting of Jerusalem. The LORD takes this very seriously. He will judge all for their treatment of His people and His land. Read Joel 3! And this from Jeremiah 25:31

“The tumult will resound to the ends of the earth, for the LORD will bring charges against the nations; he will bring judgment on all mankind and put the wicked to the sword,'” declares the LORD.”

The LORD’S sweet promises never fail. Neither do His judgment promises. Make sure you are on the right side of the line, and repent! He is coming soon.

Is a Palestinian State in the near future?

Over the last year, I’ve written twice about a troubling turn in philosophy in terms of Middle East Peace. Up until last November, the notion of peace in the Middle East hinged on Israel and the “Palestinians” coming to a jointly agreed upon treaty. It was assumed that the treaty, or agreement, would contain mutually acceptable and previously negotiated criteria for a permanent cease-fire and cessation in hostilities. That’s how peace treaties are usually negotiated.

However, I wrote in November that the then-EU top diplomat Javier Solana essentially has said a few months prior, let’s cut through the red tape, quit the talk, and walk the walk. How about creating a Palestinian State! “The United Nations Security Council should “proclaim the adoption of the two-state solution.” Obama took the idea to heart at that time. Though not much was reported for five months, I considered it a ground-breaking, ominous and terrible development. But five months after the news that Solana was initiating an idea to force a Palestinian State, in April 2010 the following news report surfaced: The Asia Times reported  “Obama imposing a Palestinian state”.

The idea that the Palestinians can get a state by enforced imposition is not a new one: that is how Israel was formed. Now the idea is, why not cut through the red tape, and just DO this thing? Hey, we did ti before with Israel! Since last November the brilliance of this seemingly simple idea has grown in the back rooms until now when it is quietly being touted as THE solution. Even by the ‘Christian” Science Monitor:

Obama can let Palestinians seek state recognition at the UN
“President Obama may soon have an unusual chance to serve the cause of Middle East peace by remaining silent. He could quietly acquiesce to a move being considered by Palestinian leaders to ask the United Nations to recognize a state of Palestine…. Mr. Obama has good reason to give a quiet wink to such a Palestinian request. He is deeply frustrated that Israel renewed its settlement construction last month. That move forced Palestinians to quit bilateral peace talks. It also caused them to contemplate the prospect that the US is no longer a reliable mediator or able to press Israel to make concessions.”

Apparently, the notion of just creating a Palestinian State and be done with it is serious enough that 115 US Representatives are urging Obama not to go down that road.

Reps urge Obama to oppose Palestinian state declaration
The chairman of a major Republican congressional caucus is urging US President Barack Obama to oppose any UN effort to recognize a unilaterally declared Palestinian state. Rep. Tom Price of Georgia wrote Obama on behalf of the 115-member Republican Study Committee on Thursday, asking the president to push back against reports suggesting that Palestinians are considering appealing to the UN rather than negotiating with Israel.”

Leaving the nation of Israel to fend for itself among the wolves of the UN and the wolves of the world is a losing proposition and Netanyahu is no dummy. Here is another recent shift in conception, this time in what constitutes a treaty:

The notion that an agreement in principle can be reached but the nuts and bolts can be ironed out at a later date. The Jerusalem Post reported an hour ago, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is making efforts to convince the Obama administration to accept a plan by which a Palestinian State would be established within temporary borders for a period of ten years, leaving difficult issues such as refugees and Jerusalem to be decided in future negotiations, London-based Arabic language daily Al-Hayat reported on Saturday.”

God takes His Land very seriously. He gave it to the Nation, and He intends for it to remain so. He was so specific, He even outlined the borders:

“On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said, “To your descendants I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates— the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites, Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites, Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites …,”

At some point, the Land is divided

“I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.” (Joel 3:2)

There, the LORD promises, He will judge.

New philosophy on Middle East Peace: "Just Force It!"

Last November, I reported on a troubling new thought inserted into the Middle East peace negotiation process put forth by then- EU High Diplomat Javier Solana; “just force it.” I wrote, “Solana essentially said, let’s cut through the red tape, quit the talk, and walk the walk. How about creating a Palestinian State!”The United Nations Security Council should “proclaim the adoption of the two-state solution.” (image source and explanation here)

Obama has taken that thought and has been running with it ever since. In the background, massive pressure has been brought to bear on Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to divide Jerusalem and give the Palestinians their own state. Lately, that ‘background’ pressure erupted in a very public fight between Israel and the US, reported here, and here. Now the Asia Times reported yesterday that “Obama imposing a Palestinian state”

“Last December, American officials spoke of a timeframe of two years until the creation of a Palestinian state. At that point, it seemed like an unrealistic hope, but so did the healthcare overhaul until recently. A bilateral compromise among Israelis and Palestinians appears now less likely than ever; however, Obama’s head-on collision with the Israeli government, coupled with his open support of a new, moderate and more efficient Palestinian leadership (that of the technocrat Prime Minister Salam Fayyad), has increased the likelihood of another scenario. The Obama administration might try to use Israel’s dependence on the US (especially in the UN Security Council) to force the Israelis to agree on a version of the Arab Peace Initiative, and lead a chorus of condemnation against whoever drops the towel. Such a public relations sleight of hand is characteristic of Obama and has been extremely effective on the domestic front.”

Obama’s relationship with Palestinian Fayyad was remarked on here, in Haaretz: PM heads to U.S. under threat of Palestinian statehood declaration. The private diplomatic skirmishes have not only become very public battles but it is now becoming obvious to all that alliances are shifting. Even the Liberal, Obama-worshiping Huffington Post is noticing. “Israeli government actions since Vice President Biden’s visit have thrust Jerusalem into the forefront of the Obama administration’s efforts to revive the peace process. They have brought US-Israel relations to their lowest point since the first Bush presidency. How did we get there? How can we get out?”

We don’t get out, that’s what. God is handling things, not us. As mournful as it is to see us abandon Israel, it is a praise to the LORD to see these things are coming to pass exactly as prophesied in the bible. Israel will have no friends and Jerusalem will be attacked by all nations in the last days. Zechariah 12:3 and 14:2 tells us that.

Perhaps God is forcing Israel’s friends away from her so that in the end she will have nowhere else to turn except to Himself. Perhaps He is preparing Israel for her judgment. Perhaps He is preparing us for our judgment. We may not know why all these things happen at any given moment, but we do know He knows why, and we know they will happen.

God promised to bless those that bless Israel and curse those that curse Israel, and we as a nation may be under imminent judgment because we are forcing her to divide God’s land, (Joel 3:2), but we as individual people can and should still show unconditional love and support for the Jewish people. We can pray for them as a people and as a nation. We are told in Psalm 122 that we should pray for the peace of Jerusalem, because we know that doing so is in effect a prayer for the Millennial Reign when God’s promise to His people of the Kingdom Age is fulfilled. (Ezekiel 40-48)

Will you join me in prayer for the nation of Israel, the people of Israel, the Jews still in Diaspora, and the Leaders of Israel? May YHWH bless them and hear our prayers.
