Paris terror attack, Japan earthquake

At this time Japan is recovering from a 7.0 earthquake at its southern end and Paris is aswarm with sirens and police as multiple apparent ISIS attacks are being carried out. Many are dead and the city is in chaos and lockdown. Days like these, especially coming at the end of a long, draining workweek when emotional levels are at low reserve, make for a trying evening of tears and prayer to the Lord. It’s always hard when many go home not to meet their maker but to be separated from their maker as chaff and goats. Nevertheless, God’s word refuels and restores equilibrium. Peace will reign again in a heart heavy with grief for the world.

Japan earthquake; small tsunami triggered

I read about the terrorist attack and the earthquake and I’m trying to process so much sin in the world. It is very upsetting. I prayed a while then decided to do what comes naturally- take a nap and become unconscious to the world for a bit.

Afterwards, I decided to do my bible reading and opened to the next chapter in Genesis which I’m going through, chapter 24 was next. I prayed and asked the Lord to comfort me in His word. Privately I wondered how a chapter in ancient Genesis would be able to be applied to my mind in comfort to the Paris attacks. But I trusted the Lord to do it.

It was about Abraham’s servant Eliezer being charged by Abraham to go to his homeland to get a bride for Isaac. And Eliezer met Rebekah at the well and Eliezer worshiped the LORD and Rebekah agreed to become Isaac’s bride. It was really beautiful how the providential ordination of events played out. It was a comfort to read how God is SOOO in control, since time immemorial to now, even with the seeming chaos of the current attacks and natural disasters.

The great thing about God’s word is that no matter what you read, the Holy Spirit has a way of energizing our mind with it and comforting our heart. The Word IS living and active and it’s a miracle how He can use God’s word in any situation to instruct, comfort, rebuke, or convict, even using Rebekah’s meeting of Eliezer at the well with camels to comfort this ole lady in Comer GA about a Paris in chaos and Japan under tsunami threat!

Landon Chapman at Entreating Favor wrote the following and it’s good. Please be comforted by it. For the ultimate comfort and re-fueling, pray and read your Bible. It really does help.

When the darkness of the world surrounds us, we need to be the light (Matt 5:14, Eph 5:8). Consider the stars which, during the day, remain in the sky but since there is so much light you cannot see them. However, at night, the stars shine brightly able only to be seen because of the blackness around them. Brethren, be the light for the dark, unbelieving world at all times, and especially in times of great tragedy and crisis.

Terrorism continues to grow throughout the world. We will be faced with times of tragedy and crisis. When your unbelieving friends and family come to you seeking answers, don’t be me 14 years ago. Rather, be prepared to comfort, warn, and share the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ with them.

But the wicked are like the tossing sea, For it cannot be quiet, And its waters toss up refuse and mud. (Isaiah 57:20 NASB)

The Hindu smashed the microscope!

In his wonderful sermon, “Pride the Destroyer”, Charles Spurgeon preached,

A prideful person “does not seek the Light of God. You can often notice that if a man has a high opinion of himself, he is extremely good and excellent and does not need to be saved by Grace. He does not want to be told too much about himself. He likes to go to a place of worship where they prophesy very smooth things and if he ever strays in where there is very plain talk, he says that the preacher is too personal. The Hindu thinks it is wicked to kill an insect, or to take life of any kind—and that he will surely not enter into his happy paradise if he does. When the missionary showed a Hindu, by means of a microscope, how many living creatures there were in a single drop of the water which was in a glass on the table, in order to convince him of the impossibility of avoiding the destruction of life if he drank the water, what did the Hindu do? Why, he smashed up the microscope! That was his way of answering it! And so, sometimes, if the Truth of God is put very plainly so that men cannot escape from the force of it, not wishing to know the uncomfortable Truth, they turn upon their heels and find fault with the preacher and refuse to hear any more from him!”

We are the microscope. We show the truth of the hidden manna. We point the eye toward the hidden kingdom. Some will not even look through the lens! Others who dare to peer, will react as the Hindu did, and smash the Christian. Why is this?

For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. (John 3:20)

In 1845, American Preacher Daniel A. Clark said,

Wicked men hate the light, because it exposes his vileness. When the cellar has been shut up for years is first laid open, by the opening of knows and doors, it presents a disgusting sight. We wonder how so much filth could have accumulated there. So the dark and wicked heart of man seems unutterably vile and loathsome when God’s Word and Spirit enters into it.

Wicked men hate the light, because it shows the necessity of a better character. The soul in love with sin is agonized with an apprehension of the necessity of reformation. Sinful habits let go their hold with a wonderful reluctance. They cry out, “let us alone,” and they are expelled, just like the demons who were driven out by our Savior. The contrast which exists between good and bad men is painful to the wicked just as it is perceived.

(source, The American National Preacher, Volumes 19-22, 1845)

But there is good news too. John 3 continues from verse 20 to verse 21,

“But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.”

Obama parties right on through the writing on the wall

I read last night that the Obama family hosted yet another party at the White House. It was the 10th in the “In Performance at the White House” series since Obama took office, according to the article in The Blaze. Opponents have criticized the White House’s lavish parties as the administration continues to warn about the disastrous effects of the sequester. Fox News’ “Hannity” mockingly referred to the party as a “sequestration celebration.” The excessive partying and vacationing by Obama and his entourage reminds me of another king in former times. More on that in a minute. As far as the cost of these parties and vacations tot he American public, one website toted up the cost of Obama’s Hawaii vacations as exceeding 20M. Michelle Obama’s ski weekend in Aspen alone cost $83,182.99 according to Judicial Watch.

As Obama and his family and entourage party in high, lordly style, on the backs of his minions (us), he is also promoting a devastatingly Godless agenda that contains homosexuality, sodomy in the military, same sex marriage, abortion and live post-birth abortion, financial malfeasance, easier access to drugs, more difficult access to medical help for the ill, oppression of the poor and much much more. God does not like this agenda. He never has, and He never will.

That is why Hannity blew up, because while the money is supposed to be sequestered, plenty of it paid for this lavish party.

This comes on the heels last year of Obama celebrating his 50th birthday in lavish style in Chicago, renting an ornate ballroom costing $40,000 per night and hosting celebrities who paid up to $38,000 to attend. That was done despite a Chinese credit rating agency downgrading the US, reported the UK Daily Mail.

While this is going on, the ailing budget process as demonstrated by sequester, is not the only thing that is ailing. The economy is terrible and many millions of folks in America are suffering along with it. There are soup lines, food stamps, joblessness, scavenging to survive, and desperation- people are actually living underground now, the real underground- in Kansas City

Kansas City Star

Amid this stress and poverty, Obama and his family think nothing of charging massive bills to the American taxpayer for their endless vacations, dinners, jaunts, and parties. The latest party was Tuesday night (April 9, 2013).

Reactions to the parties the lords and ladies are having on the backs of the people caused a harsh reaction in newscaster Sean Hannity. The headline reads, “Hannity Explodes at Former Obama Adviser After He Tries to Defend Obama’s Music Party: ‘You’re on Drugs! You Can’t Be Serious!’

Oh, but Obama is.

I mentioned above that Obama reminds of of another king. Belshazzar. Remember him from Daniel 5? The one where the finger of God appeared and write the handwriting on the wall while the king was partying? Here is the passage:

Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand. Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein.

Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them. They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. Then the king’s countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another. (Daniel 5:1-6)

Daniel told the king, “The Lord in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified.” (Daniel 5:23). The writing turned out to be translated “you have been weighed in the scales and found wanting” and that very night the King was killed.

The chapter is very interesting. Daniel tells King Belshazzar that his father Nebuchadnezzar was made to eat grass like the oxen and for 7 years lived as a beast and afterward humbled himself before the Holy God of heaven. But though Belshazzar knew all this, he still opposed God and refused to humble himself. He lifted up a toast to profane things and idols, and for that, God slew him.

God raises up kings and he takes them down, all in His timing. The bottom line is that we have a king of the united States that seems to be wanting, in the Godliness department. Worse, this state of godlessness seems not to bother him, despite the fact that Obama knows all this.

God weeps when men refuse grace (Luke 19:41) but He is still angry over sin and idol worship.

“God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.” (Psalm 7:11)

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; (Romans 1:18).

For the people who despair over having such a king in our White House, or any king who sets himself up in any part of the world, despair not! Our Lord and our God is not waiting to send wrath, He already IS sending wrath. He sends grace to us but He is wrathful over idolatry, godlessness, and the wicked living in profane ways.

Our own king Belshazzar will stand before a holy God one day. Nothing we can say on this earth in anger or heated political discussions, or even around the table at family dinners, can come near what God Himself will say to him on the Day. Keep praying for our leaders and take heart that grace is here and justice will come.
