UN appoints Alien Ambassador, astronomers forge ET contact rules

No longer is the topic of UFOs relegated to the fringe, nutjob, and the fruitcake. It is a subject that is taken seriously, discussed formally, and even remarked upon by luminaries such as Stephen Hawking, who recently and matter-of-factly said that it’s likely alien life exists but we should not attempt to make contact.

Even with that, however, there has been an uptick lately in the level of serious discussion- and action has even been taken. In July and again in September, a UFO appeared over On July 7, more than 20 flights were postponed at Xiaoshan International Airport in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, because of a sighting. It is quite startling for an entire airport to cease flights because of an unidentified flying object, one that is seen by trained eyewitnesses (air traffic controllers) and also appear on radar. This is what I mean by an uptick: trained people in authority are seeing them, and the UFOs that are appearing are appearing more boldly and for longer periods of time, even hovering over population centers like Moscow, for hours. On Sept. 11 Baotou airport in Inner Mongolia was also closed because of sightings.

Aside from the change in length of time seen and being seen by more people in authority, the UFO issue is taken quite seriously by scientists now, too. Stephen Hawking weighed in on the issue, and now also Wang Sichao, a research fellow at the Purple Mountain Observatory (PMO) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. Mr Wang has been studying for 40 years. Recently he stated in an interview in the Beijing Review that he “expects ‘great events’ concerning UFOs were going to come out in China in the next two years.”

He said, “Since 1971, I have been engaged in conducting in-depth investigations and quantitative and semi-quantitative scientific analysis to at least 20 spiral, fan and light-like UFO events. I found many strange flying objects appeared at a speed much lower than first cosmic velocity in the space between 130 km to 1,500 km from the Earth’s surface. Some even flew at a speed as low as 0.29 km a second, 4 percent of the first cosmic velocity at the flying height, and flew at the height of around 1,460 km for 25 minutes. The facts show those UFOs may possess anti-gravity ability, or they would have fallen to the Earth.” We’ll come back to that interesting scientific fact in a minute.

When aliens land and say “Take me to your leader,” there is now someone to take them to. The United Nations has recently delegated someone to be that person. According to the Australian News, “The United Nations was set today to appoint an obscure Malaysian astrophysicist to act as Earth’s first contact for any aliens that may come visiting. Mazlan Othman, the head of the UN’s little-known Office for Outer Space Affairs (Unoosa), is to describe her potential new role next week at a scientific conference at the Royal Society’s Kavli conference centre in Buckinghamshire.” The Telegraph UK also covered it, saying that the UN was to appoint a space ambassador to greet aliens.

Is the absurdity of any of this hitting you yet? It’s hitting me. But wait, there’s more. This week on AOL News we read, “Astronomers Worldwide Forge New Rules for ET Engagement.” The article stated, “Is alien disclosure just around the corner? I can’t say for sure, but lately there’s been a lot of news that, if looked at collectively, could be interpreted as pointing in that direction. It seems as if everyone from the Vatican to the military to scientists conducting the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, or SETI, are getting on the ET bandwagon. Just last week, in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, the International Academy of Astronautics’ SETI Permanent Study group created new guidelines for how earthlings should best handle official contact with extraterrestrials.”

There is a reason for all this substantive and credible activity. Aliens are coming.

After the rapture, the Holy Spirit’s restraining ministry will cease, and the world that is already in satan’s hands (2 Cor 4:4) (though not his control) will be given to him but this time, with all power, lying signs and wonders. (2 Thess 2:9). What do you think any of those lying signs and wonders will be, which according to the definition, are miracles? The lying sign and wonder may well be that the fallen angels, who really ARE extra-terrestrials, are here to help us. That it is easy to appear as a superior race, and pretend to have solutions and aid for the poor humans who are in such disarray.

Who else can appear and disappear in our dimension at will? Gravity-defying extra-terrestrial objects have been seen, reported, videotaped, and documented. It is a fact, and Dr Wang among others have the data. UFOs can’t be denied any longer. Who else has such powers such as defying gravity, except the angels? Fallen angels are our enemy, they have been for a long time. They are at war with us. They work for satan, and it is no small thing for them to appear to us as a superior race with all the answers. “For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world…” (Revelation 16:14)

Jesus said that as it was in the Days of Noe so shall it be at the coming of the Son of Man. Genesis 6 tells us that thanks to the fallen angels which includes satan, (Gen 6:4) they had already dwelled on earth and had been busy corrupting humanity so badly that only one righteous person was left, Noah (Gen 6:9). God was grieved at the evil that men thought continually and resolved to wipe out all humans except for the one righteous man that had not been corrupted (Gen 6:7).

So shall it be at the end of days during the Tribulation, Jesus said. I believe there will be a great irruption of fallen angels soon (irruption means bursting in, as opposed to eruption, which means exploding out). We already know that satan and his demonic angels will run rampant with evil all over the world at that time, unrestrained. It is my opinion that the surge in credible UFO sightings is a precursor to the moment when they come bursting in, and say “Take me to your leader. We’re he-re.”

Jews to protest Obama pressure on Netanyahu by throwing shoes

This is pretty interesting:

From Israel’s Arutz Sheva:
Shoes to be Thrown at Obama Shoe Photo
“A protest will be held this at 7 PM evening outside the United States Embassy in Tel Aviv against the undue pressure being exerted by the Obama Administration upon Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. Among the attention-arousing gimmicks scheduled for the protest will be the throwing of shoes – a common Moslem protest act – at a cardboard likeness of President Obama.  The specific target will be a large photo of Obama with his feet up on the table, speaking firmly to Netanyahu. “Obama shows us his shoes, we’ll show him our shoes,” the organizers say.” Caption:  Obama during phone call to Netanyahu in 2009  Israel news photo: White House

Who would have thought we would see the day when Israelites protest American actions? We are not her ally any longer. Woe to those who abuse His land and His people!

Sudden rise in harmonic tremors around Katla and Eyjafjallajökull

Where Eyjafjallajokull goes, so goeth Katla. This means that when Eyja gets active, Katla always erupts soon after. If you remember, Eyja was the Icelandic volcano that erupted last spring and caused worldwide airline traffic disruptions because of the amount of ash spewed at all altitudes. People have been watching Katla ever since. I don’t want to be an alarmist, but there is a very serious scientific discussion going on over at Jon Frimann, Icelandic blogger’s blog on volcanism. Jon Frimann wrote yesterday:

“There is a sudden and sharp rise in harmonic tremors around Katla and Eyjafjallajökull volcano. I currently do not know what volcano is responsible for the spike in harmonic tremor. But this does not look like is a noise from the weather. SIL stations where the harmonic tremor rise can be seen. Mið-Mörk, , Eystri-Skógar, Lágur Hvolar (Currently most rise here for some reason), Snæbýli, Saurbær, Ásmúli.” In his comments section, Frimann replied to a query: “Most stations at south of Iceland are showing this spike. But that is the interesting part. Currently I have not recorded a single earthquake, and there is not a bad weather in sight far as I can tell. So I don’t think this is the weather. But I wonder if this is something that is happening at great depth under Katla or Eyjafjallajökull. Because the source seems to be there, but it is quite hard to confirm at the moment as there are no earthquakes at all that can tell me what is going on.”

Ever since Eyja erupted in April and May of 2010,  a close watch has been kept on the larger sister volcano Katla, which has always erupted after Eyja.

Last May, Victoria Gill wrote for the BBC, “Could another Icelandic volcano erupt soon?
As scientists and air travellers alike keep a close eye on Iceland’s ongoing volcanic eruption, some reports suggest that another, much bigger, volcano could stir in the near future. Katla is Eyjafjallajokull’s more active neighbour, and scientists believe that there may be a link between the two volcanoes. This link has not been physically proven, explains Magnus Tumi Gudmundsson a geophysicist from the University of Iceland. A circumstantial, historical connection “is putting people’s eyes on Katla,” he says. “We know of four Eyjafjallajokull eruptions in the past [dating back to AD 500] and in three out of these four cases, there has been a Katla eruption either at the same time or shortly after. “By shortly, I mean timescales of months to a year. “We consider that the probability of Katla erupting in the near future has increased since Eyjafjallajokull went.” Kathryn Goodenough from the British Geological Survey points out that, as yet, there is no physical explanation for this apparent link.” It seems that when Eyjafjallajokull goes off, Katla tends to follow. “Scientists don’t yet know what the connection is,” she says.

William Cormier wrote for OpEd News two days ago,

International Concern Over Iceland’s Katla Volcano Erupting Soon Is Justified
“It is obvious that many people, especially Europeans, are extremely interested in the status of Iceland’s Katla Volcano and are attempting to find whatever information they can in regard this extremely dangerous volcano. (I’ve noted that Britain is responsible for approximately 50% of these searches using internal site statistics.) Unfortunately, as dangerous as this volcano is and its history of erupting within months of the Eyjafjallajökull Volcano is disturbing. I find it deplorable that the EU’s respective governments are not attempting to prepare their citizens for what I believe is an eventuality, not a probability. Speaking in terms of probability, history would seem to indicate that the Katla Volcano could erupt relatively soon, perhaps before the end of 2010. Again, attempting to find reputable information in regard the Katla Volcano isn’t easy, however some of it is out there, and to be frank, the future in regard Katla doesn’t look promising at all…” Geophysicists at Iceland’s Institute of Earth Sciences say Katla would be locally and globally damaging. Icelandic President Lafur Grímsson has warned Governments around Europe that a significant eruption at the volcano is “coming close”. He said: “We [Iceland] have prepared ” it is high time for European governments and airline authorities all over Europe and the world to start planning for the eventual Katla eruption.”

Time will tell. In the period after the rapture when the Tribulation begins, there will be terrible signs and fearful instances of powerful things happening in the world. A climate-disrupting volcanic eruption is not out of  the realm of possibility. It’s not even out of the realm of possibility of happening before the rapture. It is definitely a time of abnormal events. We are to the point now where any moment we can see something tremendous occur. A volcano, an earthquake, who could forget 2 pound hail falling through roofs in the American Midwest last winter, the earth cracking in Michigan, the sinkhole in Guatemala, the list goes on. Pray for the lost and stay strong, Christian!

Great News! Gideons reach 192nd country with bibles

There’s a scripture in Matthew 24 that states:

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Mt 24:14)

Matthew 24 is entirely aimed at the Jews and it is entirely aimed at the Time of the Tribulation. While we are bound to fulfill Jesus’ command of the Great Commission (Mt 28:16-20), the end coming is not contingent on man’s efforts to share the Gospel. God does that. First He sends 144,000 supernaturally sealed Jews to evangelize (Rev 14:1-3), then He sends the Two Witnesses to preach in Jerusalem and all the world sees and hears them (Rev 11:1-14), and finally,

And I saw another angel flying through the sky, carrying the eternal Good News to proclaim to the people who belong to this world—to every nation, tribe, language, and people. (Rev 14:6 NLT) THIS is the fulfillment of Matthew 24:14.

That said, I was thinking about the famine of the Word as I wrote the essay yesterday on Amos’ prophecy (here). There will be a famine of hearing the word of the Lord. (Amos 8:11)  After the rapture, there will be bibles around, but no one to explain the Good News, because all the real preachers will be gone as well as the believing Christians. But even worse, are there places that don’t have a real and trustworthy bible? Is there a nook or cranny of the world that is missing access to the printed Word? And there is the answer:

NO!

Praise Him! The Gideons have reached every nation with a bible. (Or almost all nations, depending on which nation-count you accept). There are variously counted 192, or 194 or 195 nations in the world. There are 192 nations in the UN. The Gideons International has just delivered bibles to the 192nd nation!

Gideon Country Number 192
“With thanks and praise to God we are excited to announce Gideon country number 192—the Republic of Kiribati (pronounced “KEER-ah-bhass”). The ministry was organized in Kiribati on September 1, 2010, with 7 new Gideons and 5 new members of the Auxiliary. Kiribati is a nation of 33 islands, scattered over an expanse of ocean equivalent to the size of the continental US. Tarawa is the capital, and is located roughly halfway between Hawaii and Australia. Twenty-one of the 33 islands are inhabited. You might recognize the names “Christmas Island” (the largest coral atoll in the world), or “The Gilbert Islands,” which was the country’s name prior to attaining independence in 1979. Some of you might also know that during WWII, some of the islands were seized by Japan, and the island of Tarawa was the site of a major battle. Today, the country is free and self-governing with an economy based largely on tourism and marine agriculture. In fact, Kiribati is home to the South Pacific’s largest marine reserve. Kiribati is the newest addition to Region 7. The population of the country is about 112,000—of which 36% are Protestant. Per capita GDP is about $1,500, and the potential for Scripture distribution in this country is estimated to be 6,000 copies annually. Please keep the people of Kiribati, and especially our new Gideon camp, in your prayers. Please pray for open doors and open hearts as God’s Word is distributed and the news of Jesus Christ is shared.”

There is almost nothing as important as owning or having access to the printed word of God. For those needing salvation, it could be an important stepping stone on the path to the cross. For new believers who need to grow into meat and away from milk (1 Cor 3:1-3) the bible is that meat, and also their armor. For mature believers, a bible is the balm and encouragement we need during rough times. That there are people such as the Gideons dispersing bibles and being available to answer questions is a praise and a wonderful encouragement to me. That they have reached their 192 country is a huge praise to Him!

We can pray for the Gideons as they continue their ministry where, on average, more than two copies of God’s Word are distributed per second; and over one million Bibles and New Testaments are distributed every 4.5 days. Soon and very soon, the promised famine of hearing the Word of God will be upon the world, but at least there will be His Word available to read. And that could be the difference in eternal destiny for some.

Foreclosure fraud update, Bank of America ceases foreclosures in all 50 states

On Saturday I wrote about the issue of the massive foreclosure fraud imminently cascading upon us and all its implications to the economy, here. At that time, foreclosures in 23 states had been halted by some of the biggest banks and lending institutions, such as Citi and Wells Fargo. Tonight, the Associated Press is reporting that Bank of America is halting foreclosures IN ALL 50 STATES! Indefinitely. “Bank of America could not say how many homes would be affected. Nationwide, it had 420,000 properties in some stage of foreclosure through the first half of the year, according to Irvine, Calif.-based RealtyTrac.”

Here is a great analysis and explanation of what foreclosuregate means:
http://www.webofdebt.com/articles/foreclosuregate.php

In Tampa Bay Online’s article, “Why Bank of America stopped foreclosures and how it could impact you and others,”  they wrote, “Distressed properties, many of which are in foreclosure, make up about a third of all home sales. If those deals do not happen, the market could suffer its own freeze. Housing prices could fall even further. Distressed properties, many of which are in foreclosure, make up about a third of all home sales. If those deals do not happen, the market could suffer its own freeze. Housing prices could fall even further.”

Even worse, I had posted from Zero Hedge’s analysis on Saturday that a title company had ordered to stop selling title insurance. They had written, “Apparently alarmed about such a possibility, one of the major title insurance companies, Old Republic National Title, has sent a bulletin to agents saying that “until further notice” it would not insure title to properties foreclosed upon by GMAC Mortgage, the country’s fourth-largest home lender and one of the two big lenders at the center of the current controversy… this merely means that as the foreclosure pipeline gets clogged beyond repair, and as mortgage losses accumulate at an exponentially growing pace, stocks of financial companies will likely surge…”

Now, Stewart Title Company has ordered their agents to cease selling title to JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America, OneWest Bank or Ally Financial’s GMAC Mortgage unit.

How housing slowdowns impacts the economy was analyzed in Hispanic News a few months ago:  “Because housing is such an important engine of the economy, lower prices could dim the recovery. When home values fall and people have less equity, they tend to cut back on spending. And as prices decline, potential homebuyers stay on the sidelines, slowing sales even more.”

The LORD was clear to Ezekiel on the sinful man and included in the list of sins, usury, exploitation of the poor through excessive loans, and bad-faith acts in banking. What happens to the sinner? “The soul who sins is the one who will die.” (Ez 18:3). He told Ezekiel, “Suppose a certain man is righteous and does what is just and right. He does not feast in the mountains before Israel’s idols or worship them. He does not commit adultery or have intercourse with a woman during her menstrual period. He is a merciful creditor, not keeping the items given as security by poor debtors. He does not rob the poor but instead gives food to the hungry and provides clothes for the needy. He grants loans without interest, stays away from injustice, is honest and fair when judging others, and faithfully obeys my decrees and regulations. Anyone who does these things is just and will surely live, says the Sovereign Lord.” (Ez 18:5-9 NLT) [emphasis mine]

Alternatively, the LORD decreed sinful the following:
“But suppose that man has a son who grows up to be a robber or murderer and refuses to do what is right. And that son does all the evil things his father would never do—he worships idols on the mountains, commits adultery, oppresses the poor and helpless, steals from debtors by refusing to let them redeem their security, worships idols, commits detestable sins, and lends money at excessive interest. Should such a sinful person live? No! He must die and must take full blame.” (Ez 18:10-13, NLT) [emphasis mine]

The economy is crumbling and it is happening faster as the months go on. We are a nation that is perfectly described as full of the former sinful man, who shall surely die. A frozen and gasping economy in America is only one severe sign that the end is imminent. Pray hard, folks, and pray for the poor, homeless and oppressed. He soon comes!

A famine not of bread, but of the Word

I witness on Twitter a lot. I also contact other Christians and we encourage each other and share verses, or just say “hi.” Tonight I responded to another friend’s enthusiasm for the website http://www.biblegateway.com. She said “it rocks. Seriously.” I agree. It is comprehensive and the search function is efficient. I replied to that effect, and also shared my even more favorite website, http://www.bible.cc. That site has commentaries, a Strong’s Concordance, and the translations in Greek and Hebrew. I use bible.cc every day, multiple times.

After our tweets subsided, I got to thinking about how blessed we are in America, to be able to access the Word like that at any moment.  Further, at the touch of a few keys we can access the greatest biblical minds of the current and past days and read their commentaries, or even instantly translate the bible into any language. I can click a button and any verse or chapter can be translated into Creole, or Danish or Bulgarian or Arabic or… anyway, the list goes on. How wonderful to access the Word like this!

Bible Gateway is only one of many such sites we can access here in America and people in other countries can too. I understand that there are places in the world where such unrestricted access to the word is not possible, but overall, the climate as it is now is that bibles are available, even those that have to be smuggled in to Jesus-unfriendly countries or places. Even better, there are mature Christians around and preachers around who understand and can explain it.

The Old Testament prophet Amos foretells of a time when
“Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord GOD,
“When I will send a famine on the land,
Not a famine for bread or a thirst for water,
But rather for hearing the words of the LORD.
“People will stagger from sea to sea
And from the north even to the east;
They will go to and fro to seek the word of the LORD,
But they will not find it. (Amos 8:11-12)

How terrible! Just when they need it the most, it will be gone! The rapture will occur soon, and the church will be gone, and with it, the people who embody the Word. These are the Christians, the people who understand the living waters contained in the flowing words of the bible. Immediately after the rapture, the many millions of fence-sitters will understand what had happened. These are people who have heard the Word, who perhaps have a believing spouse who disappeared, or who grew up in a Christian family but never got around to professing, they will know. They will look for the Word but they will not find it. Oh, bibles will still be immediately available, but how can they understand what they are reading, especially since the Holy Spirit will have withdrawn His indwelling ministry that in part is teacher of the Word? (2 Thess 2:6-7; John 16:13). The bible gives us a mini-picture of someone who is new to the Word and struggling to learn:

“Philip ran up and heard him [the Ethiopian eunuch] reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?” And he said, “Well, how could I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.” (Acts 8:30-31)

Praise Him that the Spirit had told Philip to go up to the Eunuch and interpret with the eunuch! There was no dearth of access to the Word in the days of Acts and no shortage of it in the time beyond. Anyone who wants to learn the Word can. And so it has been throughout the church age. All one needs to do is find a preacher, go to a library, borrow a bible, contact the Gideons who have been passing out the Word since 1899.

That is going to change abruptly. Amos foretells of that time when people will “go to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, But they will not find it.” Now, some interpret the Amos passages as limited to Israel only, with there being a famine of the Word through the prophets, and surely this was so. Malachi was the last prophet and it was over 400 years before the next one – John the Baptist- came along. Others interpret the verses as being the last days and there being a famine of access to the Word because the rapture had taken place and the Church, the body of believers who witness and interpret to unbelievers- is gone.

The phrase The LORD uses through Amos, “staggering to and fro” is reminiscent of another prophet’s phrase of the last days:

“But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, [even] to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” (Dan 12:4). This we know for sure means the time of the end. Many will go to and fro. Why? Perhaps they are looking for the Word! And knowledge of the Word shall increase throughout the Tribulation. Eventually, the 144,000 Jewish evangelists are sealed for their ministry. The Two Witnesses appear and proclaim and exhort. Then an angel flies around the world spreading the gospel. But initially after the rapture, there will be a famine. People will run about, looking for answers, looking for comfort, looking for truth. They will not find it. The next verse describes what will happen:

“In that day the lovely young women and strong young men will faint because of thirst.” (Amos 8:13) They are thirsty because the Word is the living water. Jesus told us this fact in the scene with the woman at the well: “but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4:14)

Drink up while you can!

Earth cracked in MI, no one knows why

Earth crack a mystery
One day the land was flat and filled with trees shooting straight into the air. Twenty-four hours later there’s a 600-foot-long crack, 4-feet deep twisting its way through the woods – and those vertical trees are now pointed 30 degrees left and right where the earth has mounded 15 feet high. No, it’s not a disaster movie; it’s what happened Monday at the home of Eileen Heider on Bay de Noc Road in Birch Creek. Heider was sitting in her recliner watching TV at about 8:30 that morning. “The chair shook for a few seconds and I thought the spring in the chair went,” she said. … The next day Heider’s friend, Doug Salewski, found a hole in the ground and a 200-yard crevasse a short ways away which wasn’t there before. Heider went to investigate and said the crack was three-feet wide and about five-feet deep in spots.

Doug Salewsky and Eileen Heider look at a 200-yard long crack in the earth Tuesday on Birch Creek Road in Menominee County. The crack is 2 to 3 feet wide in some places. The trees in back are tipping about 30 degrees and the earth around the crack has rose about 5 feet with other little fissures spreading out from center.
EagleHerald/Rick Gebhard

The article I posted above coincides with something I’ve been reporting for a while: the earth is cracking up. I reported on it here, and followed up here. During the Tribulation, many earth-changes happen through ‘natural’ disasters, so by the end the earth looks nothing like itself. And that is good, because at the end of the Tribulation, the LORD remakes (renews) the earth.

During the flood that is described in Genesis 6, mountains were raised up and valleys were made deeper to hold the enormous quantities of water generated in the Great Flood. Earth’s land masses have been pushed apart to make the current continents and islands. The earth as it looks now is not how it looked in the beginning, and it is not how it will look after it is returned to its original condition. In the latter part of the Tribulation God uses the massive natural disasters to not only judge the inhabitants of the earth, but to begin the transformation process in returning the earth to its pre-flood condition. In one example:

And there was a great earthquake, such as there had not been since man came to be upon the earth, so great an earthquake was it, and so mighty. The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. … And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. (Rev 16:18b-19a, 20)

Rev 21:1 speaks of a new heavens and a new earth, as does 2 Peter 3:13. Prior to that moment, there is another promise, in Isaiah 24:

“See, the Lord is going to lay waste the earth
and devastate it;
he will ruin its face
and scatter its inhabitants” (Is 24:1)
It has been my contention that the mysterious cracks appearing int he earth here and there (Mexico, Guatemala, China, and now Michigan) are part of this devastation promise.
“The earth is broken up,
the earth is split asunder,
the earth is thoroughly shaken.
The earth reels like a drunkard,
it sways like a hut in the wind;” (Is 24:19-20)
[emphasis mine]

Pressed for time: searching for immortality in all the wrong places

Since the beginning of time (well, since after the Fall) man has looked for ways to either not die, or to remain remembered after death. Immortality is tantamount to people with the ego and the means to attempt it, and boy, have they always attempted it.

People have sought to get themselves photographed, painted into portraits and hung over the mantel at the manse, to become famous celebrities, win medals, do heroics in war, and in modern times, to engage in cryogenetics, to send our likeness and information into space, to preserve DNA, and now we have another scheme in the endless search for immortality:

You can have your ashes pressed into a vinyl record. Yes, you heard right. It is called Pressed for Time by the folks from Andvinyly in the UK. Live ‘life beyond the groove’, they say. The company offers a package for ‘people, parts of people, and pets.’

Parts of people, people!

There are ever more clever ways to desecrate a dead body. It’s not enough to tattoo, disfigure, mutilate, or cosmetically change our bodies while we are alive. We are now trivializing the temple of the Lord, the creation He formed with His hands post-death, to make a song record with our own ashes inside it.

Here is the ultimate irony. We are ALREADY immortal. All of our bodies will die (except the unique generation that is raptured alive to immortality in the blink of an eye). But it is the destination that differs. We all either go to heaven, or we go to hell.

As for the desecration of our bodies after death, the cavalier attitude about who we are (children of the Most High God) we are told that we would be Godless:

“Godlessness in the Last Days”
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

The body that we are given is “sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable.” (1 Cor 15:42. Paul describes the resurrection body. This applies to both the saved and the unsaved, though each will be given their imperishable bodies at separate times. We cannot conceive of what our immortal bodies will be like, because it is like the seed that is sown, looking nothing like the resulting tree.

“When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else. But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body. All flesh is not the same: Men have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another. There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another. The sun has one kind of splendor, the moon another and the stars another; and star differs from star in splendor.” (1 Cor 15:37-41)

The fruitless search for life inside of a vinyl record, or in a cryogenic lab, or anywhere else besides Jesus, is fruitless because at that day we shall all be raised. The unsaved will be like the Burning Bush, on fire but not consumed. Their atoms will be reassembled from the LP record and the grave and the rest of the places they had scattered, into an immortal body. But the music playing will not be pleasant and beautiful. It will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Matthew 8:11-12)

But you don’t have to weep, you can be filled with joy and join Him when He calls us, raised imperishable, at the last trump. Repent now, and your notions of being pressed into an LP will fade as quickly as the the joy in Him will rise!

Beware extra-biblical revelation!

The end of the end time is here. Technically, the end time is the time between Jesus’ ascension and the moment He calls us to Him in the air in the rapture. It is when the full number of the Gentiles comes in and concludes the Church Age. (Romans 11:25; Acts 15:14-17). But now is the end of the end time, the time when God said,

“It will come about after this, That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams,Your young men will see visions. “Even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.”(Joel 2:28-29)

Many people today claim the ability to prophesy, mistaking the intent of the verse. All revelations are concluded. Jesus was the last prophet and in the latter days God spoke through Him, (Hebrews 1:1-2). Prophets of old were to reveal truth from God. That is what the OT prophets did. Jesus revealed truth to us in His personal ministry on earth; and then He, God and the Holy Spirit revealed all truth to us through the bible. There are no new revelations. The end of the Book of Revelation states,

“I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book.” (Rev 22:18). We are warned not to take away anything from this book, either. (Rev 22:19). Though the correct interpretation of those verses is not to add or take away the prophesies in the Book of Revelation, the concept holds and extends to the rest of the bible, do not add anything to the bible, nor take anything away.

What Joel was speaking of in the end days of prophetic utterances, is that the Spirit would reveal deeper understandings to believers designated to exhort, explain, and above all, be consistent with what is written in the bible.

Apologetics Index defines extra-biblical revelation as:

–Information or content outside the Bible. Thus, any form of knowledge or experience which gives us information concerning God, His Work or His Will, which is not directly quoted in scripture…
–Teachings, concepts and practices claimed to be supported by or taught in the Bible, but which are based on incorrect interpretation. In hermeneutics, the study of the methodological principles of interpretation, this is known as “eisogesis” super-imposing a meaning onto the text), as opposed to “exegesis” (drawing the meaning out of the text).

I’ve heard people say that they have heard of people who are directly spoken to by Jesus (possible) and that He said to do this or that – which is not in the bible. Uh-oh. If they say they have received prophetic word from the Spirit or Jesus or God that is not consistent with what is already written, they are FALSE. Do not believe what these false prophets say if it cannot be found in the bible and/or is not consistent with what God has already said. He does not contradict Himself. He concluded His revelations to us. The prophesies of which we are not to despise (1 Thess 5:20) are the ones already in the bible and are being exhorted by the strength of the Spirit through Godly men and women who explain them to those who are unfamiliar or do not understand. They are to urge believers to apply the prophesies to daily life, or to illustrate how short the time is so that we may be diligent, and encouraged. The prophesies are not new utterances. People who say they have an inside track and are receiving new utterances are false prophets. I can’t be more plain in warning you.

Test all things. If someone comes, saying “I heard a Word from Jesus and He said …” then be a Berean (Acts 17:11). This is the verse which commended the believers at Berea not to take the Word at face value, but says the believers “received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”

If someone comes and says “I heard a word from the Lord and it is not in the bible but He specially prepared me to receive it and then reveal it” you know instantly that that person is a false prophet, one we were warned about (Mt 24:11, Mt 24:24, 2 Peter 2:1). Even if the person says something that later comes true, do not believe that person. (Mark 13:6; 21-22)

The bible is God’s standard. If you want to violate His standard and accept utterances from men who are false prophets giving extra-biblical revelation that tickle your ears, that is your choice. But it is the wrong one.

I am not only proud to cling to the cross…

I am more proud that there IS a cross to cling to!

As you wind up this work week, you may be tired. You may be exhausted. You may be battling illness, dealing with rebellious children, aghast over low finances, or stressed from caring for elderly parents. You may be battling many things, or worrying about many things. You may just be tired.

I cling, CLING for all I am worth, to His cross, the emblem of His suffering and shame. It was suffering and shame He took for me, a wretched sinner I am. That cross is so despised by the world, but has a wondrous attraction for me; because it SAVED ME. And now that I am saved, it REFRESHES me. I am tired, I am worried, I am stressed. But I will not be for long. I will listen to a good hymn, I will pray, and I will dip into His word and find love and wisdom. I can read His promises to me. I know they are promises made specifically to me because I know He had me in mind while He hung on the cross, dying and bleeding. He had YOU in mind, too. His book is written for all people who believe, and that means you and me.

You may be spiritually sensitive and crying over the blasphemy in the world. Jesus’ name is trampled through the mud every minute, sneered at, and rejected from north to south, east to west. You may be sad over the lost people everywhere, who are believing they are working their way to heaven, or simply not thinking about heaven at all, not perceiving what awaits them. Not seeing the train wreck that will become their lives very soon in the Tribulation.

That old rugged cross is standing for them, too. It is available to all who would believe. It stands, stained with divine blood, for remission of sins of all peoples, tribes, and nations. It stands as the emblem of victory, available to any person to cling to when the storms of life become too deafening. Amidst the roaring waves and thunder I hear the whisper, the promise, “He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.” (Song of Solomon 2:4)
