Why Christians should stop sharing hoaxes, acid scarring attacks in India, tornado in Milan

I thought this was well stated:

4 Reasons Christians Need to Quit Sharing Hoaxes
“I’ve seen a trend that’s both interesting and troubling: If I find a hoax in my news feed, chances are it will have been shared by an evangelical Christian. I know that sounds like a terrible thing to say, but it’s true. In fact, it’s so typical and intriguing, that I’ve been keeping track of the phenomenon for quite a while.”

Why should we be holy? Sunny Shell explains in this essay, The Way of Holiness
“Just as the honor of being assigned as an ambassador of an earthly country should not be taken lightly, so we also, who are in Christ, should not take our high calling as children of the Most High God lightly. An earthly ambassador is chosen to live in a foreign land to represent their country, while maintaining every attribute and character of their homeland. An ambassador does not lose or forget who he/she is merely because they live in another country for a time, rather, they honorably and proudly represent their country and their people.”

Tensions rise at Jerusalem’s Temple Mount–

‘The Israeli Government Has Surrendered the Temple Mount’
“In an “unprecedented” move, police on Wednesday informed Jewish groups that the Temple Mount will be closed to all non-Muslims until at least the end of Ramadan, on 11th August. The announcement has provoked renewed anger over anti-Jewish discrimination on the Temple Mount, and sparked calls by activists for a mass-protest on 7th August, at the start of the Hebrew month of Elul.”

There are three to four acid attacks against women a week in India??

‘Rejection doesn’t mean you scar a woman’s face’
“India’s top court has ruled authorities should regulate the sale of acid, which is often used in attacks on women. But that’s not enough, says Suneet Shukla, a campaigner with Stop Acid Attacks. Society needs to change. Customers are now required to present a photo ID when buying acid; retailers have to register the customer and write down name and address, India’s Supreme Court recently ruled. Acid burns the victim’s skin and leads to horrible injuries. There are no official statistics about acid attacks, as they are not documented as distinctive crimes. According to the Stop Acid Attacks campaign, about three to four cases are reported every week in India.”

A massive tornado occurred in Milan, Italy the other day
We will begin with the following disclaimer: You should not stand behind a window in your office and film a tornado. Yes, a guy in Milan, Italy, did that yesterday, and, yes, the video is amazing, but safety first. Twelve people were injured in the storm. Which made us wonder: how often does Italy see these kind of tornados? It is natural, in our modern, weird-weather times, to wonder if the storm in Italy is abnormal, extreme weather for which we can thank our decades of greenhouse gas production. And, as always, the answer is: It’s hard to tell.”

There are occasional tornados in Italy as the article goes on to report, but over water. Tornados need wide-open spaces to generate energy and go forward. Therefore a tornado in Milan would indeed be unusual, as the one in Venice Italy was a last summer.

The Milan tornado footage is incredible. It picks up in a big way after 40 seconds.

The Washington Post link has a few other videos in different angles on this same tornado from other locations in the city where it hit.

Those Israel peace talks…Obama spoke with both parties today
“United States President Barack Obama spoke to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday, several days after peace talks between the sides officially restarted. The White House said Obama made separate calls to both men in an effort to keep up the momentum. The PA-based WAFA news agency reported that Obama urged Abbas to make use of the current momentum to reach a deal with Israel and stressed his support of the efforts that led to launching the peace process. An Abbas aide told WAFA he hoped a deal could be reached in six to nine months. Abbas reportedly stressed his commitment to a two-state solution and the need to reach a solution in the nearest time possible.”

Iran: Armageddon at hand, prepare for war; plus other interesting links

Some interesting links for you.

False Conversions: The Suicide of the Church, A Conference Message by Mark Dever. Mark Dever diagnoses the problem of false conversions in the church and prescribes biblical solutions in his message from Together for the Gospel 2012.This link leads to an audio message.

Reaction is growing to John MacArthur’s upcoming Strange Fire conference. The conference’s purpose is stated as follows:

“The Lord calls His people to honor Him, to treat Him as holy. Leviticus 10 pictures the consequences of not doing so—of offering to Him strange fire. For the last hundred years, the charismatic movement has been offering a strange fire of sorts to the third Person of the Godhead—the Holy Spirit. And evangelical churches have chosen to be silent or indifferent on the matter. This hasn’t served the church or the Spirit of the church with honor. So what should be our response? Strange Fire is a conference that will set forth what the Bible really says about the Holy Spirit, and how that squares with the charismatic movement. We’re going to address in a biblical, straightforward manner what many today see as a peripheral issue. On the contrary, your view of the Holy Spirit influences your relationship with God, your personal holiness, and your commitment to the church and evangelism.”

The Charismatics do not like this. Dr Michael Brown wrote two articles published in Charisma Magazine responding to the conference’s purpose, here, and calling MacArthur out.

Proclaiming the Gospel has a great blog essay titled-

Christians are Exhorted to Judge
“Many Christians are unaware of their responsibility to judge and test all things. Paul exhorted: “I pray that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ” (Phil. 1:9-10). Christians need to take judgment seriously in this life because of the great responsibility that awaits us in the future.”

Iran: Armageddon at hand, prepare for war
“Iran is again asserting that Armageddon is at hand and that the Islamic regime’s followers, indeed all of Islam, must prepare for a monumental change in the world. Officials of the Islamic regime last month held their annual conference on the Mahdism Doctrine to prepare for the coming of the last Islamic messiah, the Shiites’ 12th Imam, Mahdi. … Ali Larijani, the speaker of Iran’s parliament, said at the conference that, “I hope (Iran’s) Islamic Revolution is that of the righteous government before the coming,” according to Fars News Agency, the regime’s media outlet run by the Revolutionary Guards. “Righteous government” is a key to Mahdi’s return, the Shiites believe.”

Mideast peace talks to begin this week. But why did Israel approve release of 104 terrorists?
“But why are they beginning with the Israelis agreeing to release 104 convicted Palestinian terrorists? Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas refused to agree to the talks unless Israel made a big concession. Abbas pressed hard for the release of convicted terrorists as one of those concessions. But why? Do you convince your interlocutors — or the rest of the world — that you really want peace by insisting on the release of Arabs who have murdered Israelis? Hardly. That said, it’s bad enough that Abbas insisted on such a thing, but why exactly did the Israeli government say yes?”

After four years, the Israel-Palestinian peace talks resume. How does this fit in prophecy?

Here is some news just out-

Kerry: Direct Israeli-Palestinian peace talks to resume next week in Washington
“U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry announced Friday in a press conference in Amman that direct Israeli-Palestinian talks are due to begin next week in Washington. The announcement comes after Kerry had traveled to the region six times within four months and spent countless hours in talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. “We have reached an agreement that establishes a basis for resuming direct final status negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis,” he told reporters in Jordan. “The agreement is still in the process of being formalized.”

According to Wikipedia, there are numerous issues to resolve before a lasting peace can be reached, including the following:

  • Borders and division of the land;
  • Strong emotions relating to the conflict on both sides;
  • Palestinian concerns over Israeli settlements in the West Bank;
  • Status of Jerusalem;
  • Israeli security concerns over terrorism, safe borders, incitements, violence;
  • Right of return of Palestinian refugees living in the Palestinian diaspora.

Prophetically we know several things. Overall, we know that there will be no lasting peace until Messiah comes. (Isaiah 2:3-5).

  • The world will be against Israel in the final days. (Zechariah 12:2-3)
  • The LORD will allow the nations to invade and (mostly) defeat Israel (Zechariah 14:2, Rev 11:2)
  • They have divided His land, angering the LORD (Joel 3:2)
  • He will save a remnant, all Israel will be saved (Romans 11:25-26)
  • While they are saying peace and safety sudden destruction will come upon them (1 Thessalonians 5:3)

Here is the biggie:

A covenant will be confirmed. A pact. A treaty.

“And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week, and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.” (Daniel 9:27)

Othe translations say-

“And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week” (KJV)
“He will make a firm covenant with many for one week” (Holman Standard)
“He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.'” (NIV)

This indicates that some kind of treaty or pact is already in existence and will be confirmed among the many, rather than a new one being created or formulated at the time.

This covenant satisfies Israel. We know this because firstly, they participate in its confirming, and secondly, they are allowed to begin sacrificing at the temple again. All seems well for three and a half years, until the antichrist reveals himself by stepping into the temple. He declares himself God and commands all worship must focus on him. Until then, we do not know who the antichrist is, although he does participate in the original confirming of the covenant three and a half years earlier. (2 Thessalonians 3:6).

It is this moment which Jesus spoke of in Matthew 24:15-17, “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel–let the reader understand-Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: …”

Any time many nations are involved in forming a treaty or pact with Israel, it is time to heighten attention to the prophetic words of His prophets. It is time to pray for Israel even more fervently. It is time to pray for the pagans and Gentiles who live in that region with vigor. It is time to pray for the Christians witnessing to Messiah in the Land that they would be the Light so many will be saved and thus escape the horrors to soon come. It is time to strengthen our own faith and straighten our own walk, so that we may be ready for the trumpet call to stand unashamed before Him in glory.

Seeing the scaffolding having been erected for the Tribulation we know that soon the rapture call will occur, because the Bride will be called home before the judgments begin. So look to the Middle East with the political doings, and look up. Is our Redemption drawing nigh? I believe so, every day brings us closer. With the resumption of peace talks, the inching forward just took a giant leap.

Ariel Sharon showing significant signs of brain activity

‘Significant brain activity’ in comatose Ariel Sharon
“Comatose for seven years, Israel’s iconic former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is showing “significant brain activity.” The 84-year-old suffered a devastating stroke January 4, 2006, and a brain hemorrhage. He was presumed to be in a vegetative state. But on Monday, a team of surprised neuroscientists and doctors said Sharon’s brain appeared to respond when they showed him pictures of his family and had him listen to his son’s voice. Doctors also used tactile stimuli to measure Sharon’s reaction. Does this mean the man Israelis once dubbed the “Lion of God” could wake? Doctors urge caution.”

I remind us that four years ago I reported his doctors said Sharon may soon wake up. He didn’t.

The End Time: Is Ariel Sharon waking up?
October 22, 2009
Close to four years after suffering a massive hemorrhagic stroke, Dov Weisglass, who served as bureau chief to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, told Israel Radio’s Reshet Bet on Thursday that the former prime minister’s medical team indicates he may emerge from his coma, soon.” “Not really explaining his words, Weisglass exhibited a measure of optimism, seemingly confident the former war hero, prime minister and architect of the Disengagement Plan will awaken from his coma. He did not address earlier reports that Sharon sustained profound neurological compromise as a result of massive cranial bleeding from the stroke(s).” (Yechiel Spira – YWN Israel)

Ariel Sharon was Prime Minister of Israel, 2001-06. Sharon was a commander in the Israeli Army from its inception in 1948. As a paratrooper and then officer he participated prominently in the 1948 War of Independence, becoming platoon commander of the Alexandroni Brigade and taking part in many battles, including Operation Ben Nun Alef. He was an instrumental figure in the creation of Unit 101, the Retribution operations, the 1956 Suez War, the Six-Day War of 1967, the War of Attrition and the Yom-Kippur War of 1973. As Minister of Defense, he directed the 1982 Lebanon War. During his military career, he was considered the greatest field commander in Israel’s history, and one of the country’s greatest ever military strategists. The Israeli public nicknamed him “The King of Israel” and “The Lion of God”.

So you can see that Sharon is (was) an influential figure. He looms large in Israel’s history, even having been comatose for nearly 8 years.

Suddenly, after years of dormancy, the talk is abruptly of a two-state solution again. Of a Palestinian state. Of peace talks. Here is one news article about it:

Netanyahu would agree to interim Palestinian state, ex-minister claims
“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is willing to agree to the creation of a Palestinian state in provisional borders, even before his conditions for a final-status agreement are met, former minister and veteran peace activist Yossi Beilin said. “I don’t think that Netanyahu, who is far from being a warmonger — he’s a very cautious person — [is ready to commit to] a permanent solution. Not because he doesn’t want it — all of us want it — but because he’s not ready to pay the price,” Beilin said Monday night. “But to speak about a provisional border with the Palestinians, this is something that I heard from him that we would be ready to do it.”

[Outgoing Secretary of State] Hillary Clinton Sees Opening for Revived Mideast Peace talks
“Outgoing U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says a new coalition government in Israel could lead to resumption of talks toward a two-state peace accord with Palestinians. “I think the outcome of the election in which a significant percentage of the Israeli electorate chose to express themselves by saying ‘We need a different path than the one we have been pursuing, internally and with respect to the Middle East peace process,'” Clinton said. That could mean a resumption of stalled talks with Palestinian authorities, something that she said the Obama administration will pursue at “every possible opening.”

Just as the bonfire reaches maximum, God throws another log onto the fire…and things get hotter.

“I will gather you and blow on you with the fire of my wrath, and you shall be melted in the midst of it.” (Ezekiel 22:21)
