The Satanic Supernatural: a study

Jesus said that the days prior to His coming will be like the Days of Noe (Noah)

“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. “For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. “For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be.” (Matthew 24:36-39)

This passage refers to the Second Coming, not the rapture. In the days immediately prior to the flood, the Nephilim were rampant in the world and had reduced man to a slavering lustful, evil fools who only thought evil continually. (“The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually…. But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.” Gen 6:4-5,8). Jesus likened the days prior to the Second Coming to the days of Noah.

We are in evil days even now, though the Tribulation has not begun. Imagine the days getting so much worse! No, thank you. Today, Man is lustful with the eyes and the heart and with his body, thinking only evil continually. That is because, as John wrote, “We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.” (1 John 5:19)

“…they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools…. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator….” (Romans 1:18-25) [emphasis mine]

The more things change, the more they stay the same: Hosea said in 10:13- “You have plowed wickedness, you have reaped injustice, You have eaten the fruit of lies Because you have trusted in your way, in your numerous warriors,”. This world trusts in its own way and therefore is at risk of being demonically oppressed. The demons can do nothing in a Christian, except plague Him from afar, but of those who are not saved, demons  run rampant. And most of the world, the world we are told they rule, is not saved. So what do we expect?

As the world hurtles closer to the Time of Jacob’s Trouble and judgment is unleashed on it, the supernatural activity is increasing. If you doubt that demons exist or are so heavily active, see the amount of demonic activity through a list of scriptures from OT to NT, here. The amount of demon-busting the Apostles did in the aftermath of the Spirit’s indwelling of them is amazing, and imagine how much more so the demonic activity was in the Days of Noe. Now imagine how much there is to comeas we again approach days like Noah’s…

There are all kinds of spirits. There is a spirit of fortune telling…”Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit by which she predicted the future. She earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune-telling.” (Acts 16:16)

There are evil spirits: “Now the Spirit of the LORD had departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD tormented him.” (1SA 16:14)

There are enticing spirits: “‘By what means?’ the LORD asked. “‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,’ he said. “‘You will succeed in enticing him,’ said the LORD. ‘Go and do it.’ (1 Kings 22:22), and apparently some spirits such as this one can be more than one kind of spirit.

There are lying spirits: “So now the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of all these prophets of yours. The LORD has decreed disaster for you.” (1 Kings 22:23)

There are impure spirits: “On that day, I will banish the names of the idols from the land, and they will be remembered no more,” declares the LORD Almighty. “I will remove both the prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land.” (Zech 13:2)

There are disease spirits: “News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon- possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them. (Matthew 4:24)

There are spirits that can speak, and who know the things of God and who know God: “What do you want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?” (Mt 8:29); “Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, “You are the Son of God!” But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Christ.” (Luke 16:41).

There are demons that cannot speak: “Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute. When the demon left, the man who had been mute spoke, and the crowd was amazed.” (Luke 11:14)

The spirits have a hierarchy, make plans, and have intent: ” Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.” (Mt 24:45)

There are spirits who posses people in holy places, masquerading as holy worshipers: “Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an evil spirit cried out, “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are–the Holy One of God!” (Mark 1:23)

There are strong demons: “For he had often been chained hand and foot, but he tore the chains apart and broke the irons on his feet. No one was strong enough to subdue him.” (Mark 5:4)

A body can hold one spirit, or it can hold many spirits: “Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” “My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many.” (Mark 5:9); “When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons.” (Mark 16:9)

Finally, demons have intelligence and can teach: “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.” (1Timothy 4:1)

With all that and more shown to us about the rulers of the air, and the principalities in high places, people who fool with the dark side are taking a grave and likely eternal risk. Demons are smart, capable, powerful, and not only are upon this world already but will invade this world in greater number as in the days of Noah/Time of Jacob’s Trouble nears. And it is my opinion that it has begun:

The article below is from the UK Sun and it is perfectly serious. Mysterious sounds have been appearing on cell phones, the result of calls from nowhere. This activity has spiked exponentially in the last 4 years:

Rush Limbaugh noticed that recent  photographs of Obama increasingly appear to reveal the demon in him. I agree that Obama’s facial expressions look non-human:

A lot of people will go, ‘aw, that’s just Rush…’ but consider that Mr Limbaugh is this nation’s most successful, longest running, most successful and influential radio commentator. He is an opinion leader from coast to coast. It’s not fringe news when a powerful personality, and in my opinion, a brilliant one at that, who is unafraid to tout unpopular political opinions for the last two decades, comments on the demonic looking facial expressions of  President of the United States.

UFO sightings seem to be the flavor of the month at the moment and that doesn’t restrict itself to the United States of America but expands this norm to the entirety of the world. Many sightings have been reported of late in the United States but an equally high number of reports of UFO sightings have come through from the eastern superpower of China. There were already quite a few reports in the recent days, and it was recently followed up by another reported were UFO were sighted in Kunming which is located in the province of Yunnan.  The recent report was collected from the online version of the People’s Daily. The sightings were made just about a week ago on the 14th of October. The man who photographed the alleged unidentified flying objects is called Dong Rong. Dong Rong himself is a resident of Kunming itself.

The above articles delving into the satanic supernatural are appearing with more regularity these days. Remember the Village in Barbados suffering a demonic attack? The Denver woman who said a vampire attack caused her to crash her car? The Chinese airport that shut down due to lingering UFO traffic? These and other news articles from recent times were reported straightforwardly in viable and credible news outlets with all due diligence. They are all of the satanic supernatural.

Be warned! The Days of Noe are almost here, but the time of Jesus, the Ancient of Days from the beginning to the end is more powerful than any demon. He rebukes them with a word. He drives them out while they shriek and shudder. He is Alpha and Omega and under His wings we are saved from the demonic territory that is earth. Praise Him forever.

It’s come to this…Vatican says to Israel, stop using the bible as a basis

I am at a loss to decide whether the Muslim religion represents the false religious system of Revelation, or Roman Catholicism as expressed by the Vatican. I am not at a loss as to how or why the Vatican has gotten to the state of disbelieving the bible. Satan. Time will tell as to who or what amalgam of religious ideas or organizations form the basis for the False Prophet’s launch (Revelation 13:11-15; 16:13 and 19:20), but meanwhile, this just out in Israel’s Yedioth News simply astounds me:

Vatican body asks UN to ‘end Israeli occupation’
“Israel cannot use the Biblical concept of a promised land or a chosen people to justify new “settlements” in Jerusalem or territorial claims, a Vatican synod on the Middle East said on Saturday. … “We have meditated on the situation of the holy city of Jerusalem. We are anxious about the unilateral initiatives that threaten its composition and risk to change its demographic balance,” the message said. Recourse to theological and biblical positions which use the Word of God to wrongly justify injustices is not acceptable,” the document said.” [emphasis mine] Worse, they state: “We Christians cannot speak about the promised land for the Jewish people. There is no longer a chosen people. All men and women of all countries have become the chosen people.”

The document is an endorsement of the so-called “Two-State solution“, dividing Israel to carve out a Palestinian State in attempts to appease the Arabs. “The Holy City of Jerusalem will be able to acquire its proper status, which respects its particular character, its holiness and the religious patrimony of the three religions: Jewish, Christian and Muslim. We hope that the two-state-solution might become a reality and not a dream only.”

It cannot be said that the Vatican is even nominally Christian anymore. The Holy Bible tells us that apostasy shall abound in the latter days.

2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

1 Timothy 4:1-3 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

Our President: The Demon

Rush Limbaugh, noted conservative, made a comment yesterday about our Liberal president. His comment has everyone up in arms. Now, this is nothing new. Rush is always saying something about the Democrats and the people are always up in arms about what he says.

However, I happen to completely agree with what Rush said, and moreover, I said it six months ago. It is a bold and unusual opinion, but nonetheless….Here is what Rush said: Obama looks demonic in recent photos.

“These pictures, they look demonic. And I don’t say this lightly,” Limbaugh said as he opened his program. “There are a couple pictures, and the eyes, I’m not saying anything here, but just look,” he remarked about the president who has been campaigning for the re-election of fellow Democrats. An American president has never had facial expressions like this,” Limbaugh said. “At least we’ve never seen photos of an American president with facial expressions like this.”

I agree that those are curious expressions, particularly from one who knows he will be photographed and has perfected the politician’s art of the pasted-on smile.

Others instantly began making fun of Rush’s observation. Andrew Sullivan used this headline: Obama Is Now Satan. Going with the flow, Rush pushed the envelope, goading the Dems with this headline: Helpless Liberals Watch as Obama Switches from Messiah to Demon

I do think it is interesting that the world saw Obama as a type of savior only two years ago and now see him as a kind of demon. The nomenclature is unusual, never having been assigned this solidly to a politician, but nevertheless is appropriate to these end of days. The spiritual battle is almost visible now. Dems are deserting him in droves, and Conservatives are lining up at the polls prepared to vote the bums all out. How hard and how fast they fall.

But this story is more than political. We haven’t seen anything like the heights Obama brought his faithful to in the modern era, if ever. And we have never seen as fast a fall like this either. From the beginning, Obama’s candidacy brought out those who insisted that he was the antichrist. The reaction of the world certainly seemed to indicate a supernatural response. Remember all those women fainting at his mere presence? The thrill running up Chris Matthews’ leg? Millions clamoring to obtain a ticket to one of his speeches? At the lack of substance in the speech but the judgment that they were soaring and above all others for all time? Who could come out of nowhere, evoke a response like Obama did and make the world fall in love with him? The antichrist is predicted to engage the world in exactly the same way.

Though the Bible clearly says that the antichrist will not be revealed until the Tribulation, many saw the dots connecting and began wondering aloud. Believers have spiritual insight, knowing first that in the end of days deceivers will come (1 Tim 4:1), and we also know we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places, (Ephesians 6:12), then we know it is not out of the realm of possibility that Obama may be supernaturally connected with satan.

How could he be, you ask, being flesh and blood? Well, two ways. The angels do incarnate and walk on the earth as humans. There is nothing in the bible saying that the fallen angels don’t also do that. As a matter of fact, there is a huge possibility that they do, since one-third of a multitude of the angels fell with satan, and since Hebrews 13:2 says that we entertain angels unawares. The bible records some angels staying on the earth overnight, for lengths of time, and eating with humans and appearing as men.

Another possibility is that he is a nephilim, one of the hybrids of fallen angel-human species that Genesis 6 describes as being an evil scourge upon the pre-flood world. Jesus said that the time before the end would be like the Days of Noah, when the events of Gen 6 were occurring.

I wrote about the Obama Evil Eye in June of last year, noting that he had a strange facial expression and unusually fierce laser-eyes at times. At that time I made the supernatural connection.

Drudge put this up this morning. Maybe he is half kidding. I am not. It IS an evil eye. Since Obama came on the scene so suddenly in 2007, many think, or are at least asking, “Is Obama the antichrist?” My opinion is that he is not, but that he IS a type, or a precursor, to the real deal who will soon be upon us. It is my opinion that he is a nephilim, as described in Genesis 6:4 and whom the bible tells us are on the earth after the flood. Read up on the nephilim, and if you are a bible believer you will see that it is clear that they are real and among us. My firm opinion is that Obama is one, or a fallen angel directly, and not a hybrid nephilim, but in any case, demonic. I believe he was sent by satan to prepare the way for the Antichrist’s rise and to do satan’s work meanwhile. Maybe I will do a blog entry someday on why I think this. Suffice to say, at the very least, one should wonder about his meteoric ascension in American politics, and the paths that he is taking us down since inauguration. And then there’s that eye…Here is Drudge’s take on it-

And now we have Rush musing aloud on the possibility of a demonic connection as well.

Well, that was then. It is more obvious now. Like a snake shedding its skin, we are seeing more of the real Obama. I think it is crystal clear that the facial expressions Rush is seeing (and many others) are not of human origin. I know that many will mock this stance, but that is my opinion and I have held it since 2007, and I still stick to it. Obama is a demon, sent by satan, and the world fell for him. The world will fall even harder for the antichrist soon to come, unless you are saved by grace and blood f Jesus Christ. The scales will fall from your eyes and you will not be deceived.The only safety in these dangerous spiritual times is JESUS.

Earthquake swarm in … Arkansas?

Nothing much happens in Guy Arkansas, pop. 549. That is, until last Monday, when the ground began shaking under the residents’ feet. The town, just 50 miles north of Little Rock, has been enduring an earthquake swarm and the dozens of constant earthquakes have been more than unsettling to the people who live there. “People don’t like the ground to move under their feet,” he said. “And I don’t blame them,” said Gary Ausbrooks of the Arkansas Geological Survey.

“Earthquake swarms are events where a local area experiences sequences of many striking in a relatively short period of time. The length of time used to define the swarm itself varies, but the points out that an event may be on the order of days, weeks, or months. They are differentiated from earthquakes succeeded by a series of by the observation that no single earthquake in the sequence is obviously the main shock. Earthquake swarms are one of the events typically preceding eruptions of volcanoes.” (Source)

It reminds me of the story of the only volcano to be born in the modern era. Paricutin, the Hill of Fire volcano was born in a Mexican farmer’s field as he was plowing corn, and in just a few short days the volcano had grown to many hundreds of feet and was constantly spewing lava. The whole town was soon covered with ash and lava, and the locals were relocated.

In this case, the swarm is reminding people of the nearby New Madrid Fault. “The New Madrid fault system was responsible for the 1811–1812 New Madrid earthquakes and may have the potential to produce large earthquakes in the future. At New Madrid, trees were knocked down and riverbanks collapsed. This event shook windows and furniture in Washington, D.C., rang bells in Richmond, Virginia, sloshed well water and shook houses in Charleston, South Carolina, and knocked plaster off of houses in Columbia, South Carolina. In Jefferson, Indiana, furniture moved and in Lebanon, Ohio, residents fled their homes. Observers in Herculaneum, Missouri, called it “severe” and claimed it had a duration of 10–12 minutes.” Earthquakes that occur there potentially threaten parts of seven U.S. states: Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Mississippi. The map below shows Damage-range comparison between a moderate New Madrid zone earthquake (1895, magnitude 6.8), and a similar Los Angeles event (1994, magnitude 6.7). And the 1811-12 quake shook Memphis at a level NINE.

Here are a few of the news clips about this swarm. Some of the clips were published a few days ago, so the news by now (Friday evening, 15th Oct) will be superseded by new numbers. There are a few statements I’d like to focus on below, for the end time context.

48 earthquakes rock Faulkner County
Faulkner County residents had a shaky start to their Monday morning as a 4.0-magnitude earthquake rattled throughout the county. The quake, which occurred at 8:33 a.m. and was centered two miles southeast of Guy, was just one of 48 earthquakes reported since Wednesday afternoon.  According to Shelia Maxwell with the Faulkner County Office of Emergency Management, the U.S. Geological Survey is looking into the recent earthquake activity in the area. “We’re having them (earthquakes) in places we’ve never had them before,” Maxwell said. “The USGS is looking into why we’re having them and why there have been so many.”

3 days ago, “Activity centered near Guy“
Coker says, “This is my home. And I feel like my home has been invaded. And not only that, but I feel that since we are taking advantage of mother Earth, she’s beginning to fight back. And I really don’t think we’ll like the consequences.”

Earthquake swarm rattled Guy Arkansas residents
“A string of small earthquakes has rattled people in Guy. The most recent hit Thursday, a 3.5 according to the Arkansas Geological Survey. But it started Monday with a 4.0 and the shaking hasn’t stopped since. “It’s unsettling. People don’t like the ground to move under their feet,” said Scott Ausbrooks, a geohazard supervisor with the state survey.”

The first news clip above quoted the Emergency Management Agency and USGS as saying that they had not had such activity in their area like this before. HMMM.

The woman whose property many of the  quakes are centered under says that ‘Mother Nature’ is “fighting back.” She is noticing something we are all noticing, that ‘natural disasters’ and like-events are increasing, and also that we are in a fight. She’s right, but it’s not Mother Nature that is doing the fighting. And that is the crux of the end time problem: a Godless society.

Last, the man quoted in the third clip said that it is unsettling. It certainly must be unsettling. Constant earthquakes are unsettling, the very ground under your feet that seems so solid…isn’t.

Jesus said that there will be earthquakes in diverse places in Matthew 24:7 as a sign of the end of the age. He was speaking about the Tribulation and answering a question from three of His closest disciples as to the signs of the end of days. Jesus’ response pointed to the Tribulation, which we will not be around to endure, since we are not appointed to wrath. (1 Thess 5:9; Rev 6:16)

However He said that the end of days will be like birth pangs (Mt 24:8) and that means the events start slow and build up. I call the events we are seeing now precursors to the judgments the world will experience during the tribulation (the 7 years set aside to judge an unbelieving world). I always take note of statements by credible officials such as  “We’re having them (earthquakes) in places we’ve never had them before,” and “The USGS is looking into why we’re having them and why there have been so many.” Which simply means the officials have never seen this kind of activity previously and they don’t know why it’s happening now.

We know why it is happening now. Jesus is coming soon. Nations that mock Him, turn away from His laws, and wallow in sin get judged. He said He would warn us, and He said then He would judge us. He sent an angel to Daniel to explain what was coming, and their conversation is recorded in Daniel 9: and in verse 24 the angel explains the length of time for the judgment, the reasons for it and what will happen: “Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy.”

Believers should be looking up pretty well constantly nowadays. You can almost hear the indrawn breath of the Trumpet blower

Foreclosure fraud on massive scale. Will this be the straw that broke the economy’s back?

The topic of banking and finance is important for two reasons. The world is inextricably tied together in terms of banking finance, economics, and trade. What happens to one Fortune 500 company in America will reverberate to China to Iceland to Chile. And secondly, the means by which the antichrist cements his hold on the world will be through the economy, a mark he forces on each person’s hand or forehead that illustrates the person’s allegiance and worship of the antichrist (indwelled by satan Rev 13:3-4), without which no one may buy nor sell (Rev 13:16-17). The economy is crumbling and it is happening faster as the months drag on.

The Dollar trading at 5-month low, and gold and silver are at all-time highs. Not only do Banks keep failing, no end in sight; but  Florida and Washington Hit By Banking Failures – 10% Of All Banks At Risk Of Failure. Goodness! What next? Well…this: massive foreclosure fraud is uncovered and half the states in the nation are ordered to halt foreclosures as of NOW.

Ed note: Breaking, Citi and Wells Fargo are in on it too! And also, today title companies were ordered to cease insuring foreclosed homes, fearing exposure. The situation worsens…

I rarely re-post entire blog entries from others, but the folks at Zero Hedge and Global Research did such a great job of condensing issue that I feel that their synopsis gets the point across. I feel in my bones this foreclosure fraud uncovered represents the next level of pain to an unbelieving world. In Oct 2008 we experienced the first sustained and visible level of painful warning, with the economic crash of the banking system. Now it appears the foundation is further crumbling, as massive foreclosure fraud is uncovered and large banks halt foreclosures across the country in uncomprehending numbers. This may not only grind the banking system to a halt but also will no doubt fuel the anger most Americans are feeling and expressing either appropriately (thru the Tea Party and civic activism) or inappropriately (through violence and robberies). Is it possible for the populace to get any angrier? Yes, this may well be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Rep Grayson’s video is clear and devastating. I recommend watching the 7 minute video. You will be hearing a LOT more about this issue in the coming weeks, and his video you receive the grounding for understanding that will be necessary to perceive the impact of this issue in a biblical point of view in the end times. “On a widespread and probably pervasive basis they (banks) did not take the steps necessary to own the note…  which means that in 45 out of 50 states they lack the legal right to foreclose. Every trust now has questionable legal standing for foreclosures in the overwhelming majority of states…services are basically guessing that they have the right to foreclose…
“Obviously the banks do not want to grapple with the consequences of trillions of dollars of securitized mortgages having no legal standing…”

If this isn’t the last straw, it surely would be the nearly last straw. What else could be coming upon this old sinful world before we are raptured??? I cannot even comprehend. The LORD is amazing. And I fear Him in an awestruck way…

Shock Therapy for Wall Street: JPMorgan Suspends 56,000 Foreclosures; 
GMAC and BOA Many More

The hits are coming fast and furiously. It appears major Wall Street mortgage lenders could again be in serious trouble – and looking again for handouts.

On September 20th, Ally Financial Inc., which owns GMAC Mortgage, the nation’s 4th largest lender, halted evictions and the resale of repossessed homes in 23 states. This was after a document processor for the company admitted that he had signed off on 10,000 pieces of foreclosure paperwork a month without reading them. The 23 states were all those where foreclosures must be approved by a court, including New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida and Illinois.

On September 24th, Representatives Alan Grayson (D-FL), Barney Frank (D- MA) and Corrine Brown (D-FL) directed a letter to Fannie Mae questioning its use of “foreclosure mills,” which were described as “law firms representing lenders that specialize in speeding up the foreclose process, often without regard to process, substance or legal propriety.” The letter followed a report by the Florida attorney general’s office in August that it was investigating three law firms that had allegedly fabricated documents in thousands of cases to obtain final judgments of foreclosure.

On September 24, California attorney general Jerry Brown asked GMAC to halt foreclosures in his state until the lender could prove it was complying with a law that prohibits lenders from taking steps to foreclose a home before making an effort to work with the borrower. California is a non-judicial foreclosure state, meaning foreclosures do not require the prior approval of a court.

On September 28, JPMorgan Chase said it was halting 56,000 foreclosures because some of its employees might have improperly prepared the necessary documents. All of the suspensions were in the 23 states where foreclosures require court approval.

On September 29, the Washington Post reported that a top federal bank regulator had directed seven of the nation’s largest lenders to review their foreclosure processes, after learning about widespread mishandling of homeowner evictions. Besides JPMorgan Chase, they included Bank of America, Citibank, HSBC, PNC Bank, U.S. Bank and Wells Fargo. The Washington Post noted:

“The paperwork problems range from potentially forged documents to bank employees who never read borrowers’ files before signing off on an eviction. . . .”While we don’t expect our review to find that consumers were harmed, we will take appropriate action if we find any impact,” JP Morgan spokesman Tom Kelly said.”

No harm perhaps except the illegal taking of thousands of homes without due process . . . .

On September 30, Rep. Alan Grayson posted a devastating seven-minute video, in which he gave four real-world examples of such travesties of justice, including a man who was foreclosed on when he didn’t have a mortgage and paid cash for the home; a home that had two foreclosure suits against it because both servicers claimed ownership of the title; and a couple foreclosed on over a contested $75 late fee.

Grayson blamed the massive foreclosure problems largely on the electronic shortcut called MERS. “The banks simply digitized mortgage titles into a privatized system, called the Mortgage Electronic Registry System (or MERS),” he said. “And it did the transfers by trading Excel spreadsheets among the banks and trusts, rather than endorsing the notes as required by their own contracts, by state real estate law and by IRS rules.” He stated that 60 million properties are recorded in the name of MERS — 60% of the mortgages in the USA, and 97% of the loans made between 2005 and 2008.

On October 1, Bank of America announced that it was delaying foreclosures in 23 states.

The same day, Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal took the radical step of putting a halt to all foreclosures from all banks in his state.

A Box Even Houdini Couldn’t Escape?

All of this is a major headache for the banks, but according to the New York Times, “The companies say they are reviewing their procedures to take care of any violations.” They seem to think they can correct the problem by redoing some paperwork. But if the holdings in recent court decisions are upheld, it will not be just a question of hiring extra staff to clean up some files. For all those mortgages filed in the name of MERS, say these courts, the chain of title has been irretrievably broken. Humpty Dumpty has had a great fall and cannot be put back together again.

MERS is simply an electronic data base. On its website and in assorted court pleadings, it declares that it owns nothing. It was set up that way intentionally so that it would be “bankruptcy-remote,” something required by the credit rating agencies in order to turn the mortgages passing through it into highly rated securities that could be sold to investors. MERS not only has no assets; it has no employees. The thousands of people enlisted to sign affidavits on its behalf are merely conduits. The arrangement satisfied the ratings agencies, but it has not satisfied the courts. Increasingly, judges are holding that if MERS owns nothing, it cannot foreclose, and it cannot convey title by assignment so that the trustee for the investors can foreclose. MERS breaks the chain of title so that no one has standing to foreclose. The homes are effectively owned free and clear.

That does not mean the homeowners don’t owe money to someone. They do. But the claim for relief is not in “law” (by virtue of an enforceable contract or rule) but in “equity” (a remedy provided just because it is fair), and MERS is not the proper plaintiff. Every MERS case involves a securitization, which means the real parties in interest are a group of investors somewhere; and before the homeowners can be made to pay, the investors have to come forward and prove not only that they are the parties owed the money, but the actual sums they are owed. In some cases they might already have been paid; for example, by insurers on credit default swaps held by the investment pool. The investors are entitled to recover in equity only so much as they are actually out of pocket, not the full amount of the original promissory notes, since they were not parties to those notes and there is no way to re-establish the chain of title.

What About the Non-judicial Foreclosure States?

Foreclosures have been suspended by JPMorgan, GMAC and BOA in 23 states, but what about the rest? The others are non-judicial foreclosure states, which means they allow foreclosure through a power of sale clause in a deed of trust without going to court. The presumption is that if the lender doesn’t have to prove his standing to sue before a judge, he can proceed. State laws in non-judicial states allow the sale of a property to satisfy a foreclosure as long as the trustee follows the regulations concerning notice. That would seem to violate Constitutional due process, but the United States Constitution has held that due process protections apply only when the government is involved in the taking of property. When a deed of trust and promissory note are executed between two private parties (homeowners and lenders), there is no automatic due process protection. The homeowners agreed to it in writing; case closed.

But here’s the catch: what if the lender signing the original documents is not the party foreclosing on the property? Then it becomes a question of fact whether the foreclosing party has authority to proceed, and that makes it a judicial issue – a question of fact for the courts. If the foreclosing party can show a clear chain of title – an assignment or progression of assignments from the original lender to himself – he is home free. But courts have increasingly been holding that MERS breaks the chain of title. Foreclosure expert Neil Garfield argues that even in non-judicial foreclosure states, that means the investors have to go to court to prove their case. And when they do, they will run up against the brick wall of MERS. He concludes:

“There will be a head-slapping moment when title carriers, attorneys, judges and administrative agencies and clerks suddenly realize that the monster created on Wall Street has its equivalent in the public records of counties across the nation. I doubt if more than 6-7% of all the foreclosures in the past 10 years have resulted in clear title delivered to anyone. And the only corrective instrument can come from the original owner. That homeowner is sitting in the catbird seat and doesn’t know it. Millions of people who THINK they have lost their homes still own them and if anyone wants a signature from those people to clear title, they are going to be required to pay dearly, which is at it should be. Eventually the purse gets returned to the victim from whom it was snatched.”


To Subsidize or Nationalize?

Where does that leave JPMorgan, GMAC, Bank of America, and the other major lenders? Investors have massive claims against these banks, and so do homeowners. A major title insurance company has already said it will not insure title to properties foreclosed upon by GMAC until further notice. Moody’s has placed the servicer ratings of GMAC and JPMorgan Chase on review for possible downgrade, and the Treasury is asking regulators for an investigation. [emphasis mine]

Investment adviser Christopher Whalen thinks we could soon be looking at more Wall Street bankruptcies. If so, hopefully we won’t fall into the trap this time of underwriting the losses while letting the banks keep the profits. If we the people are picking up the tab, we should insist on owning the banks.

US Air Force officers claim UFO’s visited, and messed with our nukes

The other day I posted a blog entry about how the Pope’s Astronomer, Guy Consolmagno, said that he most certainly would baptize aliens, if he came across one, “no matter how many tentacles they have.” It was the Astronomer’s contention that aliens would certainly have a soul.

I made the biblical case that any off-planet life (with the exception of angels, does not exist. Read here for the bible verses that collectively show that ET’s do not exist (except for angels, both the good ones and the bad ones.)

In another recent entry, I’d posted about a second incident at a Chinese airport that was closed because radar and eyewitnesses showed that an Unidentified Flying Object was causing a disturbance and fears that it would crash into oncoming planes forced the shutdown. I’d ended that entry with, “And since satan will have power to cause lying wonders, it would be no small matter for the fallen angels (demons) to make a craft appear in the sky and startle the locals. Someday they may land and say “take me to your leader.”  If we are still on earth when that happens who would you tell them your leader is?” Remember this for an explanation in a moment….

And now on Sunday we read:

UN to appoint Earth contact for aliens
THE United Nations was set today to appoint an obscure Malaysian astrophysicist to act as Earth’s first contact for any aliens that may come visiting. Mazlan Othman, the head of the UN’s little-known Office for Outer Space Affairs (Unoosa), is to describe her potential new role next week at a scientific conference at the Royal Society’s Kavli conference centre in Buckinghamshire. She is scheduled to tell delegates that the recent discovery of hundreds of planets around other stars has made the detection of extraterrestrial life more likely than ever before – and that means the UN must be ready to coordinate humanity’s response to any “first contact”. During a talk Othman gave recently to fellow scientists, she said: “The continued search for extraterrestrial communication, by several entities, sustains the hope that some day humankind will receive signals from extraterrestrials. Professor Richard Crowther, an expert in space law and governance at the UK Space Agency and who leads British delegations to the UN on such matters, said: “Othman is absolutely the nearest thing we have to a ‘take me to your leader’ person.”

My, isn’t the UN efficient. Or maybe prescient? Today, Monday, we read that a group of ex-US Air Force  officers are meeting to urge the US Government to come clean about…UFO’s. Their assertion is that they know we have been visited by aliens and the aliens even caused a temporary malfunction in our nuclear facilities. Here’s the story from Military Times:

“WASHINGTON – Armed with declassified documents and vivid details, a group of former Air Force officers gathered Monday to go public with an assertion they have kept mostly under wraps for decades: that UFOs visited the bases they were stationed at and caused nuclear weapon system to temporarily malfunction. The group, convened by UFO researcher Robert Hastings, came to the National Press Club in Washington to discuss their individual experiences and to urge a government that tried to ignore and silence them when they came forward years ago to finally come clean. Hastings said he believes that visitors from outer space are fixating on nuclear weapons because they want to send a message: Disarm before the world destroys itself.”

Where do you think this sudden interest in aliens and UFO’s is coming from? Why do you think there is a serious spate of visible UFO’s seen by authoritative people? Why do you think the UFO/alien issue is no longer relegated to the realm of the crackpot?

It is my theory that satan will attempt to use the UFO issue to explain where all the people went in the rapture. Alternately, he may try to prepare a fallen world for belief in the antichrist when he comes with “all power and lying signs and wonders.” (2 Thess 2:9) In any case, it’s plausible to assume that satan and his masquerading servants of righteousness (2 Cor 11:14-15) will present themselves after the rapture as higher-level beings ready and more than willing to intervene on our behalf, since we messed things up so badly thus far. What I do know is, the UFO phenomenon has been gaining mainstream attention since 2007 as the sightings have become more prevalent, more bold, and harder to ignore.

What will definitely be hard to ignore is the disappearance of millions of Christians. This event is known as the rapture and it is specifically described in the bible in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 –

“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.”

I am comforted, being a believer. This means I believe I am a sinner. I believe my sin keeps me from being able to enter heaven, where a Holy God resides. I believe the remedy for my sins is Jesus, who lived a sinless life and died on the cross as a substitute for me in taking the penalty for my sins. I believe He rose again on the third day and lives now as Savior and King, and I submit to His will for my life. I am a believer, and I and all believers who believe these things will be caught up when Jesus sounds His Trumpet. You can be with us, to go to the place Jesus has been preparing or His own to receive us in glory.

If you believe those things too, then pray them to Jesus out loud: because the bible says “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

If you do not then you will remain behind when we all go. And you will face the worst time that ever was, Jesus said, and this means even worse than the Flood. You will risk losing your soul forever to hellish outer darkness where you will weep and gnash your teeth in remembrance of the time you had to seek Him but squandered it. The time grows short

As Russia re-awakens her old glory, America’s old glory is fading. Many people ask if America is in the bible concerning the last days. I do not think she will be. We are certainly on the decline. Here is one devastating headline:

Iran Press: Americans lost 1.5 trillion in household wealth this quarter…
American households have lost 2.3 percent or $1.5 trillion of their net worth from April to June last quarter, according to the Federal Reserve. (!!!)

The ranks of the working-age poor climbed to the highest level since the 1960s as the recession threw millions of people out of work last year, leaving one in seven Americans in poverty

CNBC/Cramer: Two US Banks fail, total for year now 127
State regulators closed two banks Friday, bringing the total number of U.S. bank failures for 2010 to 127.State regulators shuttered Haven Trust Bank of Florida … State regulators closed North County Bank of Arlington, Wash.

Last week we read that “Federal regulators have seized six banks in the Southeast, Midwest and Northeast, bringing the number of failed U.S. banks this year to 125, officials said. Three of the seizures were in Georgia, which has had 45 bank failures since 2007, the most of any state since the recession began in December 2007, The Wall Street Journal reported. Fourteen Georgia banks have failed so far this year.  The failed Georgia banks are the Bank of Ellijay, First Commerce Community Bank, and Peoples Bank. Community & Southern Bank of Carrollton, Ga., assumed deposits at the three failed banks.”

The US economy is failing, and Western nations in Europe are failing, but not everybody is failing. Many nations are experiencing growth.

Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfelt heads into Sunday’s general election on the crest of the sharpest economic recovery among Europe’s major countries.

Poverty will exist in the Tribulation, but most things will be more or less the same as they are now, except more extreme. Jesus said in Luke 17:27 that “Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man. People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.” There’s money if people are marrying and living and building and eating and drinking.

The notion that everyone will be poor is a misnomer. I wrote more about it here:  “A Great Gulf Fixed: Goodbye Middle Class! Instead, what will happen is that there will be great wealth skew, the very rich and the very poor will exist side by side. The poor will cry, the rich will buy. It is a picture painted by the following verses:

Rev 6:6, the poor cannot afford bread but the rich still buy luxuries- “And I heard something like a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not damage the oil and the wine.”

James 5:1-5, the poor cry for their pay that the rich withheld at their expense: “Behold, the pay of the laborers who mowed your fields, and which has been withheld by you, cries out against you; and the outcry of those who did the harvesting has reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.  You have lived luxuriously on the earth and led a life of wanton pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.”

Revelation 18:11-13 depicts merchants mourning the loss of Babylon, the rich had bought her luxuries in a still-robust trade even at the end of the Tribulation:

“…cargoes of gold and silver and precious stones and pearls and fine linen and purple and silk and scarlet, and every kind of citron wood and every article of ivory and every article made from very costly wood and bronze and iron and marble, and cinnamon and spice and incense and perfume and frankincense and wine and olive oil and fine flour and wheat and cattle and sheep, and cargoes of horses and chariots and slaves and human lives.” And we can imagine the extreme poverty of the slaves and human lives who existed at the whim and pleasure of the very rich.

The difference is that people will not care that the poor are hungry and starving outside their doors. The rich simply whoop it up.

But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

So the widening disparity of of certain nations’ economies should not surprise us, it will be so in the Tribulation, more correctly named, The Time of Jacob’s Trouble.

This article from California shocked and saddened me. The town in which the leaders raked in the money is one of the poorest in LA County.

Small town officials arrested over fraud in California
Eight officials from an impoverished Californian town were arrested Tuesday on charges of paying themselves vast salaries at the expense of local taxpayers, prosecutors said.  The eight, including former municipal manager of the town of Bell just south of Los Angeles, stand accused of using roughly 5.5 million dollars of public money to benefit themselves, through illicit loans.  “This was calculated greed and theft accomplished by greed and secrecy,” said District Attorney Steve Cooley, after the officials were arrested mostly without incident. But while local people went hungry, town manager Robert Rizzo paid himself 787,000 dollars last year — nearly twice as much as US President Barack Obama — even though his town only has 38,000 residents, prosecutors allege.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has become inordinately richer while in her position this year, more than any other Congressman. She is 8 million dollars richer…

According to The Hill’s analysis of financial disclosure forms filed last summer, the Speaker’s net worth rose more in 2009 than any other lawmaker’s, from $13.7 million in 2008 to $21.7 million in 2009.

Bill Simon, the head of Wal-Mart’s U.S. operations: “And you need not go further than one of our stores on midnight at the end of the month. And it’s real interesting to watch, about 11 p.m., customers start to come in and shop, fill their grocery basket with basic items, baby formula, milk, bread, eggs, and continue to shop and mill about the store until midnight, when … government electronic benefits cards get activated and then the checkout starts and occurs. And our sales for those first few hours on the first of the month are substantially and significantly higher. And if you really think about it, the only reason somebody gets out in the middle of the night and buys baby formula is that they need it, and they’ve been waiting for it. Otherwise, we are open 24 hours — come at 5 a.m., come at 7 a.m., come at 10 a.m. But if you are there at midnight, you are there for a reason”.

“What Wal-Mart calls the “paycheck cycle” has recently been “extreme,” Simon said, with lots of shoppers at the beginning of the month and fewer at the end. Wal-Mart is also seeing an “ever-increasing amount of transactions being paid for with government assistance,” he said…”

Children are going hungry, desperate parents roam Wal-Mart aisles at midnight, waiting for checks to clear so they can buy baby formula, and Nancy Pelosi somehow earned 8 million MORE this year than last. Earning money is not a problem. And even Jesus said the poor will always be with us. (Mt 26:11). It is the attitude about getting money and what you do with it that is the end time characteristic. The officials in Bell, CA stole from the public. The government in DC today is stealing from the public, at the very least by printing money with nothing to back it up, while spending more and more wantonly – causing a massive debt load on every person.

These economic times are not simply tough times that will turn around. It will not get better. It will only get worse…unless you are saved by grace of Jesus and will disappear in the blink of an eye, in the rapture! The income gap between the richest and poorest Americans grew last year to its widest amount on record as young adults and children in particular struggled to stay afloat in the recession.  The top-earning 20 percent of Americans — those making more than $100,000 each year — received 49.4 percent of all income generated in the U.S., compared with the 3.4 percent earned by those below the poverty line, according to newly released census figures. That ratio of 14.5-to-1 was an increase from 13.6 in 2008 and nearly double a low of 7.69 in 1968.

Giant fireball crashes in Colombia, confirmed a meteorite

The Colombian newspaper posted an update. “Colombian meteorite sparks confusion“

“Colombian authorities confirmed that a “giant fire ball” that fell from the sky in the central Santander department was a meteorite. The Colombian media has been buzzing with eye witness accounts of the fireball, which fell out of the sky and caused a massive explosion at 3:15PM local time Sunday. Bucaramanga Mayor Fernando Vargas confirmed the phenomenon was a meteorite that left a crater 100 meters in diameter where it crashed into the earth in the San Joaquin municipality in Santander. Colombian air force helicopters were commissioned to fly over the vicinity to try to locate the source of the explosion. The director of the University of Nariño’s Astronomic Observatory, Alberto Quijano, told RCN Radio Sunday that he believed the object was a meteorite. This is a link to today’s Colombian TV news in English (no guarantee how long the story stays up). “Today we report on a meteorite crashing in Columbia. Thousands saw it, no one has found it yet. The fireball was seen in the skies around three in the afternoon.” It continues with video.

These events are part of the birth pangs. The Lord said in Luke 21:25 that “There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.” This is a statement for the Tribulation but we see the beginnings of the signs tat will continue in frequency and intensity (like birth labor pangs) right through to the Tribulation when these signs will be such frequent occurrences that “men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” (Luke 21:26) That shaking up is starting now. It will intensify. After the rapture when the Tribulation begins it will be extremely intense! Are you ready to submit to the Lord for your salvation? He is Hope Eternal!

Ayatollah Durrani’s call for Obama to be Caliph has enormous end time implications in Christianity AND Islam

Yesterday I published a piece that was pretty curious. Out of the blue, an Ayatollah from Pakistan called for Barack Hussein Obama, our President, to be installed as Caliph, leader of Muslims. Further, he called for Obama to lead Muslim Eid holiday prayers from Ground Zero on Sept. 11. The Ayatollah had called the Pakistani newspaper “The Nation” and made this claim, and it was published in both their print version and online. I thought the call for Obama to become caliph was odd, and anything odd these days bears intense research, because as we draw so close to the end, nothing is to be taken for granted. Thus, I began really looking at the language in the Pakistani news article. This is what I found, thanks to the Holy Spirit’s guidance in research.

First, a republishing of the short, odd article:

Minister wants Obama to become Ameer-ul-Momineen
ISLAMABAD – In a development that could be duly termed as one and only of its kind, an incumbent Government’s Minister has urged US President Barrack Obama to offer Eid prayers at Ground Zero Mosque and become “Ameer-ul-Momineen” of Muslim Ummah [the collective Muslim world]. Minister of State for Industries and former member Pakistan Ideological Council Ayatullah Durrani called TheNation on Wednesday to register his demand made to President Obama. “The coming Eid would expectedly be observed on 9/11, this a golden opportunity for President Obama to offer Eid prayers at Ground Zero and become Amir-ul-Momineen or Caliph of Muslims. In this way, all the problems of Muslim World would be solved,” he thought. Durrani argued that Muslim World was in “dire need” of a Caliph and the distinguished slot of Caliphate would earn President Obama the exemplary titles of what he termed, “Mullah Barrack Hussain Obama” or “Allama Obama.” “The time is approaching fast. Barrack Hussain Obama must act now. This is a golden opportunity, Muslims badly need it,” he added, saying that the elevation of President Obama to Muslim’s Caliphate would be the “key to success.” This news was published in print paper.

The term caliph came into use as a title of the civil and religious head of the Muslim state. But because the Muslim state is so fractured, having one head as Caliph became untenable and fell out of use by 1924.

Let’s take a close look at two of the sentences. First, Durrani said: “all the problems of Muslim World would be solved.”

I can’t speak for the Pakistani Ayatollah on exactly how this may solve the Muslim world’s problems, but I do know that the Muslim world is not a united world. Sunni and Shia diverge greatly, and once the office of Caliph was abandoned in 1924, the division became seemingly permanent. “Disagreement over the status and legitimate line of caliphs lies at the root of the division between Shiite and Sunni Muslims. The caliphate has throughout history been an important symbolic focus of unity for Muslims, and since its abolition several pan-Islamic congresses have attempted to establish a rightful caliph. (Cambridge Encyclopedia).

Instituting the office of Caliph with an acceptable candidate would indeed go a long way to solving the Muslim world’s problems. 

In Shia end time doctrines, the final Mahdi (12th Mahdi, and they have already had 11) will be a world leader, emerging out of the chaos and violence to institute a one world religion and economic system. The world will worship this Mahdi, (Muslim Messiah)in advance of the coming of Jesus prior to Jesus instituting HIS kingdom. Sound familiar? The final Mahdi is central to their doctrines, CENTRAL. The entire focus of much of Islam (with exception of certain Sunni sects) focuses on this final Imam.

With that in mind, on the Jihadica blog, a conversation took place in 2008 that bears on today’s conversation about Obama as Caliph. The title of the entry is “Mahdi Will Appear After Return and Death of Caliph” and the excerpt is “Discussion of the appearance of the Mahdi, a messianic figure who will appear to restore justice to the world, is not a hot topic on Sunni Jihadi forums (in contrast with Shia miliants, who talk about it a lot). So a post today on Eklaas by al-Fata al-Jurani caught my eye. In it, he argues that the Mahdi will not appear until a caliph once again rules Muslims. After the caliph dies, the black banners will be unfurled and the Mahdi will appear. So if the caliphate were to be declared and acknowledged, would hitherto non-messianic Jihadi groups like al-Qaeda become messianic?”

Are you starting to get the import of this little-reported, curious call for Obama to be a Caliph?

In a second curious sentence from the article, I thought that the Ayatollah’s specificity in delivering the titles for Obama in this yet-to-be-named Caliphate were odd. But they are not odd, in fact, these titles have great meaning for Muslims.

From the article: “Durrani, a former member of the Pakistan Ideological Council, contended that the Muslim world is in “dire need” of a Caliph and occupying this distinguished slot would provide Obama “exemplary titles” like “Mullah Barack Hussain Obama” or “Allama Obama”.

Mullah is generally used to refer to a Muslim man, educated in Islamic theology and sacred law. The title, given to some Islamic clergy, is derived from the Arabic word mawlà , meaning “vicar”, “master” and “guardian”. In large parts of the Muslim world, particularly Iran, Bosnia, Afghanistan, Turkey, Central Asia and the Indian subcontinent, it is the name commonly given to local Islamic clerics or mosque leaders.”

Allamah also spelled Allameh and Allama, is an honorary title carried by only the very highest scholars of Islamic thought, jurisprudence, and philosophy. It is used as an honorific in Sunni Islam as well as in Twelver Shia Islam. The caliphate has throughout history been an important symbolic focus of unity for Muslims, and since its abolition several pan-Islamic congresses have attempted to establish a rightful caliph.

Obama is seen as a uniter, a bridge from the past to the future, a scholar, and a person of diverse origins, able to understand all peoples. From what I have read of Obama’s life, he seems to be able to fulfill the titles the Pakistani Ayatollah has readily prepared for him. Qualifications aside, that Obama has been deemed acceptable by a respected former member of the Muslim Ideological Council is tremendously significant theologically.

We know that the False Prophet paves the way for the Antichrist to be worshiped, and the vehicle for that worship is the Mark. (Rev 13:11-17). Is the call by Ayatollah Durrani for Obama to become Caliph really the first call from satan to his false prophet?

The Tragedy of Atheism

“Beulah! Peel me a grape!” Who could forget Mae West’s famous quip in her second film, “I’m No Angel”? Her ribald lines, superficially innocuous, were delivered in a lazy, mocking elocution that had audiences either loving her bawdiness or up in arms over propriety. The line itself was hilarious because of the visual of Mae telling her black maid to peel the tiny fruit, an effort that was ridiculous but perfect in highlighting her character’s gross self-centeredness.

“Bring me evidence, Beulah! And while you’re at it, peel me a grape!”

‘God! Peel me a grape!’ Is the same attitude atheists exhibit today. Their mental laziness, mocking tone, and orders to bring them some evidence of God and then they’ll think about it, only serve to highlight their gross self-centeredness in which they proudly luxuriate.

Imagine if you had a loving husband, your groom, who daily gave you beautiful gifts. Who served you, ministered to you when you were sick. Who told you that could trust completely and said he never would leave you. Where his loving effects on others around him were obvious. And one day, He came up to you and said, “I love you!” and you answered, “PROVE IT! BRING ME EVIDENCE!”

First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. (2 Peter 3:3)

Worse, what if your 14-year-old son responded that way? If, there he was, in his well-appointed American bedroom, stuffed with laptop, digital camera, games, comfy bed, with his bank account passbook noting his growing college fund, and the key to the deposit box containing his inheritance. And you walked in one day, bringing him his supper that he wanted to eat in his room, and you lay it down and said, “Honey, I love you!” What if he answered, “PROVE IT! BRING ME EVIDENCE!”

I would think there would be punishments all around. I’d think he would receive a stern talking-to, and a grounding from his fun activities. And yet, our Lord, who has all power, does not respond this way. He patiently accepts mocking, self-centeredness, and constant demands for evidence that He has already provided (in His love and mercy). He has given us the world and we demand more.

Jesus, Lord of the Universe, Who has the worlds as a footstool for His feet, as your loving groom served us. He healed, ministered, told us in a thousand ways that He loves us and wants to be with us forever. He even dispensed with His own glory, and poured Himself into the form of a man, and washed feet, served food, and died for us whom He loves. Jesus still loves His children, all of them. And when you relate this eternal fact to unbelievers, they scream, “PROVE IT! PRODUCE SOME EVIDENCE!”

This selfish attitude should not surprise us. We are told by Paul in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 that “People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.” This is an age of unrestrained revelry and self-indulgence. Humility, diligent searching, and submission are anathema to culture today. 

The tragedy of atheism is the hopelessness of the self. People who refuse to believe put their entire stock into their own strength, brain, abilities, and they say that any day now, the world will be better because of their own strength, brain, and abilities. It never will be, because we are sinners. But the proud refuse to accept their own sin as the stain that it is and humble themselves to Him who heals, loves, and saves.

The tragedy is that a whole class of people deliberately shrink their world to the provable and seen. Their world is of the brain, but not the mind. It is of the natural and not the supernatural, of the drearily provable and not the awe-inspiring mysterious. Their world is littered with decaying peeled grapes, while the believer’s world is endless, eternal, and perfect. The tragedy is in thinking that peeled grapeskins is all there is to life, when they could have so much more. Even in Apostle Paul’s day this attitude of ‘serve me’ was prevalent: “Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles.” (1 Corinthians 22-23)

Is this you? “Bring me evidence! But let me finish indulging in my debaucheries first…”

The tragedy is in the non-believer passively lying on a reclining Roman couch, demanding evidence when the bible says “Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always. (Psalm 105:4). This is an active command, not a passively receptive one. He even told us how to do it:

“My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.” (Proverbs 2:1-5). Again, this verse is full of active verbs, not passive tenses indicating a lolling receptivity.

Atheist, get off your lazy duff and seek His face! He is right in front of you!

How do we accept Jesus? Admit your sin. Yes, we all do wrong things, and we should be sorry for those. Apologize to Jesus and ask Him to be your Savior (saving you from eternal separation from Him) and also your Lord, (humbling yourself and admitting you need Him to lead you in life). Immediately you begin to understand how low you really are in your sin, and how permanently you deserve to be low forever compared to His holiness and glory. However, immediately begins His gifts. Far from your worst fears realized, that this is a permanent abasement, (as it should be) instead in His mercy He will lift you up! He will give you good work! A plan for your life that spiritually you intuit as better than the one you created for yourself! Talents and abilities to accomplish this work! A guarantee of your place in heaven and an inheritance of eternal life! It is within your reach, non-believer. But first, you have to get off the couch.
