NASA makes unexpected finding: this sunspot cycle may be the last one

“If we are right, this could be the last solar maximum we’ll see for a few decades,” Hill said. “That would affect everything from space exploration to Earth’s climate.”

NASA scientists made an announcement today at 1:00 regarding the fact that “Astronomers would unveil a “major result” regarding the sun’s 11-year sunspot cycle. The announcement will be made at a solar physics conference in New Mexico, according to an alert released today (June 10) by the American Astronomical Society. The discussion will begin at 1 p.m. EDT.”

That press conference occurred and Yahoo science.com and Space.com report the results this way.

“The American Astronomical Society meeting in Austin has just made a major announcement on the state of the sun. Sunspots may be on the way out and an extended solar minimum may be on the horizon. Some unusual solar readings, including fading sunspots and weakening magnetic activity near the poles, could be indications that our sun is preparing to be less active in the coming years. The results of three separate studies seem to show that even as the current sunspot cycle swells toward the solar maximum, the sun could be heading into a more-dormant period, with activity during the next 11-year sunspot cycle greatly reduced or even eliminated. The results of the new studies were announced today (June 14) at the annual meeting of the solar physics division of the American Astronomical Society, which is being held this week at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.”

“Currently, the sun is in the midst of the period designated as Cycle 24 and is ramping up toward the cycle’s period of maximum activity. However, the recent findings indicate that the activity in the next 11-year solar cycle, Cycle 25, could be greatly reduced. Cycle 25 may not happen at all. In fact, some scientists are questioning whether this drop in activity could lead to a second Maunder Minimum, which was a 70-year period from 1645 to 1715 when the sun showed virtually no sunspots. “We expected to see the start of the zonal flow for Cycle 25 by now, but we see no sign of it,” Hill said. “This cycle, number 24, may be the last for some time, he says. If the models prove accurate and the trends continue, the implications could be far-reaching.”

“Scientists know of at least three periods with little or no sunspot activity. All three appear to have been associated with cooling on Earth. However, the details remain unclear.” “If we are right, this could be the last solar maximum we’ll see for a few decades,” Hill said. “That would affect everything from space exploration to Earth’s climate.”

Personally, I am always tickled when scientists think they know how the universe works and then are shown up to have in fact known nothing close to what they think they do. I think quantum physicists are more honest about their understanding of the world than astronomers and astro-physicists. Quantum physicists at least say they don’t know. Sadly though, neither group usually acknowledge God at the root of their particular discipline of science.

In today’s case, scientists found unexpectedly that this solar sunspot cycle may be the last. The Tribulation period will show men, all men-including scientists- just who is at the root of all physical laws. Nature will not act the way it has been. There will be no wind. No wind means no sailing, no precipitation cycle, and drought. The sun, moon, and stars will be struck. (Rev 8:12). The sun will heat up and scorch men. (Rev. 16:8-10). Eventually the sun will go dark completely. (Joel 2:31). In other words, the anomalies, or the “unexpected result” in the scientists’ parlance, we are seeing now at the close of the Church Age are indicators of more anomalies to come. And come. And come. Until nothing makes sense any more.

Here is a photo to remind us all of just how powerful and awesome God is, and how puny we are. And despite this puniness, He holds us in the palm of His hand, a cherished child.

UK: three-year-olds being taught to pole dance

A year ago, I wrote “Sexualizing the young: the ‘Single Ladies’ little girls dancing controversy“. In that blog entry I’d shown that a certain dance number held in Los Angeles for little tots at a competition had sparked a controversy. The tots wore sexy lingerie and were dancing in choreographed moves that were sexual in nature. At that time I’d said, “He discusses the importance of marriage and having godly offspring in Malachi 2:13-14. To desecrate a little one by perverting them through sex for a dancing award is definitely not Godly. The main issue is the morality slide. Every time a benchmark line is crossed, non-believers say that there can be no absolute morality, but that the downward slide will certainly stop before it gets too bad. Right? Wrong. Man’s craven and fallen state means that he is led by satan and satan lives to destroy. His perverted depth knows no bottom. We will slide further and further down until…”

And now we have another example of how this fallen culture sexualizes their children. This time the offending region is in the United Kingdom, and it is about a pole dancing school for young girls, some as young as three years old. The UK Daily Mail reports:

“To the tiny students at this dance studio, the moves are totally innocent. In fact, they are being instructed in the sleazy art of pole dancing. And their age? As young as three. Child protection groups yesterday labelled these images from the classes ‘deeply disturbing’. Parents pay £5 an hour for their daughters to learn pole dancing at the Little Spinners classes. Instructor Carly Wilford insists it helps youngsters keep fit and boosts their self-esteem. But charity Kidscape warned it was another indication of the growing sexualisation of children, which has prompted Government-backed proposals to protect their innocence. Up to eight girls attend the weekly classes at the Make Me Fabulous dance studio in Northampton. The revelation comes a week after it emerged that a beauty parlour is offering make-overs and facials for children as young as one.”

“Trendy Monkeys in Brentwood, Essex, caters only for the under-13s. It offers to transform children with face masks, new hairstyles and lipgloss. The pole dancing lessons take place in a room decorated with pink feather boas and sparkling mirrors. They are advertised on a website which also promotes adult lessons, features pictures of lingerie-clad women and describes pole dances as ‘sexy, relaxing and invigorating’. The children, aged three to seven, learn moves including holding their legs in a V-shape while sliding down the pole.” More at link.

In this parable on prayer found in Luke 18:8, Jesus is speaking. “Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart, saying, “In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect man. “There was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, ‘Give me legal protection from my opponent.’ “For a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, ‘Even though I do not fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection, otherwise by continually coming she will wear me out.’” And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge said; now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? “I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?”

We could just the same wonder if Jesus won’t ask, ‘However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find innocence on the earth?” “‘

I DO cry out. I cry out loud and long when I see our innocents abused and neglected and forgotten and worse, sexualized to conform to a craven culture. When I read stories like this I DO lose heart. But then I take solace in His promise. “He will bring about justice for them quickly.” The parable is explained this way, “surely be true to his promises; but the danger is that his elect – his afflicted people – will be discouraged; will not persevere in prayer; will not continue to have confidence in him; and will, under heavy trials, sink into despondency. The sole meaning of this phrase, therefore, is, that “there is more danger that his people would grow weary, than that God would be found unfaithful and fail to avenge his elect.” For this cause Christ spoke the parable, and by the “design” of the parable this passage is to be interpreted.” [Barnes Notes]

Pray, ye faithful. Never cease praying. Prayer is the lifeline that keeps us from despondency. The rapture is an event that is not prophesied to have a date, if it comes the next moment God would not have set aside His true promise therefore to come. The more of us who pray the likelier it will be He will arrive ‘quickly’.

I despair for our little ones, but then I re-draw myself into a soldier posture and I pray to Him whose promises are true. I trust His justice and I trust His soon coming. It is nearly unbearable now, Lord, but your timing is perfect. I know you will take your children, the adults you know are your children and the little ones who are the children of children, and you will sweep us up into your eternal arms where love and peace reigns forever. Not one more child will be abused. Not one more child will be unloved. Not one more child will be traded for sex. I am looking forward to that day, O Lord, and I cry out to you in faith, SOON COME!”

A new false doctrine: the Hermeneutics of Humility

There is a false doctrine going around that is having an impact. It is called the Hermeneutics of Humility. It goes like this: “I’m fallible, and I’ve been wrong before in my interpretations of the bible, and gee, look at how many other people are wrong in their interpretations, and I’m just too humble to say that I think I know the bible. So I won’t say I do.”

People who have fallen deeper into the false doctrine of Hermeneutical Humility say “There are things I won’t contend for. I certainly won’t fight over biblical non-essentials.”

And people who have fallen the furthermost say “I just want unity. We should be united over the Gospel, not divided.”

John MacArthur defined Hermeneutics of Humility this way:
“We live in a time when certainty and conviction about what is true is not tolerated. The politically correct attitude is one of uncertainty with nothing absolute. There’s a new hermeneutics, a new science of interpretation called the Hermeneutics of Humility, and this is serious to the people who espoused this and their Hermeneutics of Humility say, “I’m too humble to think that I could ever know what the Bible really means and so I can only offer my opinion and I certainly can’t say that this is in fact the truth.” They pat themselves on the back congratulating themselves for such intellectual openness.”

Senior Pastor Daniel Henderson put it this way:
“One of the great dangers of this movement is what they call a ‘hermeneutic of humility.’ ‘Hermeneutic’ is the science of interpreting scripture, and, of course, the idea of humility. And the basic idea is, ‘Let’s not be too clear, too dogmatic, too strong about what we believe. I mean, how do we know we’re really right, you know?’ And in a sense, it’s giving into the conflict of society, giving in to the pressure of the culture to say, ‘Well, you know, absolute truth, we’re not sure, so let’s just be really humble about the way we communicate it.’

David B. Hewitt said it this way: “The “hermeneutics of humility” appear to be the fact that people try to put forward the idea that we cannot really know with certitude what the Bible is saying, and to insist we can is proud and arrogant.”

The Hermeneutics of Humility makes me crazy. I get upset when I read bloggers who espouse it, because it dismisses the work of the Holy Spirit. It makes clear to unbelievers that the faith that was delivered to the Saints once for all (Jude 1:3) is unknowable. It shows evidence of satan’s success in getting us to doubt ourselves. And that was the very first scheme he perpetrated, and it appears to be one of the last. Let’s look at the things I’ve just said closely. This is going to be broken up into several parts. This is a serious, serious matter! Please listen with receiving, graceful heart, bathed in prayer, and with open ears.

Hermeneutics of Humility dismisses the work of the Holy Spirit. James said, “Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.” (James 1:2-6).

In verse 3 here James says faith will be tested but it yields a perfect result, the word for perfect is a root from which we get telescope. The illustration here is with a old pirate’s telescope, unfolding (extending out) one stage at a time to function at vision that is at full-strength. In verse 4 he says that ‘if you lack anything’ (for that endurance so that you may be perfected) and the word lack here means lacking as in left behind in a race. If you are being left behind in wisdom and need perfecting for those results, then ASK. Those who do not ask dismiss the work of the Holy Spirit. Those who do ask but doubt, also disrespect His work.

You notice those who say that are too humble to claim they know for sure what this or that doctrine of the bible means, have been like surf of the sea. They used to believe in post-tribulation rapture, now they believe in pre-tribulation rapture but then again they are not so sure. They used to follow this pastor but then came across a website that said something different and now they are not so sure. They are tossed like the surf and they end up being double minded. Many people who espouse this false humility have already been tossed so much like the surf that they just want to find a beach and give up. Being double minded IS tiring. They were tossed to begin with because they were not rooted in the Spirit, not allowing HIM to lead the way. The Spirit doesn’t toss you. He lends peace to your mind. If you are tossed like the surf then please take a look at whether you are relying on the Spirit to unfold your understanding, or not. There is peace in the certitude that the Holy Spirit gives us in understanding the faith and that is how we know it was Him that gave it to us in the first place.

Obtaining wisdom and certitude does not mean that you’re done in studying that particular doctrine. Think of the telescope again. It extends. I explored the rapture doctrine and after a while of prayer, study, and discernment He showed me unalterably that it will occur before the Tribulation. But that doesn’t mean I concluded my studies in that doctrine. There was much more to learn about the rapture, but my faith in His deliverance of wisdom to me never wavered after that. The unfolding telescope is always advancing the eye toward clearer vision. We will only know for sure when we are glorified and perfected in all ways, and even then we will still be plumbing the depths of an infinite God. But DO advance. Unfold your certainty so that you may endure and your faith will endure at the time of testing.

I have much, MUCH more to say about this and will continue with another blog entry after church. I’ll take a look at where satan’s hand in this false doctrine is, talk about biblical discernment, and the difference between humility in certitude, and conceit in knowing.

The Nephilim and the Fallen Angels, part 2

I wrote Part One of the Nephilim and laid the scriptural groundwork for the fact that before the Flood, fallen angels took women, all that they chose, and mated with them. (Genesis 6:1-2). The result was a hybrid race called The Nephilim, or Mighty Men of Old, of Men of Renown. There have been two ‘irruptions’ (opposite of eruption. Irruption is bursting in, rather than exploding out.) One irruption was before the flood, when Genesis 6 speaks of it, and the other was after the flood, which Genesis 6 also confirms. In addition, the race of giants were spoken by their tribal names (Anakim, Raphaim, Emim) throughout the Old Testament until David was sent to stamp out the last of these tribes. Finally there seemed to be relief from the ungodly mating of angels and human women. No weird races have been spotted since then.

But in the Olivet Discourse, Jesus spoke of the Days of Noah, warning that the same conditions plaguing the earth then would be repeated at the end of days. One of those conditions was the infestation of Fallen Angels taking women and producing ungodly progeny as just mentioned. Then, the thoughts of men were of only evil continually (Gen 6:5) and the implication as that it was due to the Nephilim. Noah was found to be perfect in his generations, or bloodlines, untainted by the hybridization of the plan of the fallen angels.

The unusual amount of Unidentified Flying Objects in my opinion are fallen angels, hovering at the edge of our dimension, waiting for the day when the Holy Spirit will be removed from the earth (an act that also preceded judgment as in Gen 6:3) to have their way with sin upon the world. I also believe the current  fascination with vampires in all levels of the culture is also due to the Fallen Angels. I wrote about that, here. Last, I mentioned that the myths from pagan religions also spoke of celestial beings, gods, that came down and mated with women in a variety of ways, in some cases transfiguring themselves into animals, other men, or even showers of coins in order to seduce the women. In some cases, the ‘gods’ simply enchanted them. In most cases, the myths spoke of the women falling into a drugged state, whether through the enchantments of the gods or because of wine drunk at festivals or orgies that they had attended. Remember the enchantment and the transfiguration.

Let’s examine some of the New Testament scriptures that may allude to the infestation of fallen angels mating with women in the end of the end time and certainly the Tribulation.

Paul told us in no uncertain terms that false apostles will roam the earth from his day to the end of days. We should not be surprised at this, “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.” (2 Corinthians 11:14).

It is good to look at the original Greek words. Most of the English translations say satan “masquerades” or “disguises” himself into an angel of Light. King James uses “transforms.” The Greek word is “metaschématizó” and it means “change the outward appearance of something, to transfigure.” Satan AND his fallen angels can change their outward appearance to something else as it suits them. It is important to note that the word as it is used, ‘transfigure’ is a different one that used for when Jesus transfigured on Mount Tabor, (Mt 17:1-2). That word is metamorphoó, meaning to change from the inside out. Satan cannot change his spots as a leopard can’t change his spots. (Jer 13:23). But he can change enough on the outside to fool the unwary.

Those unwary are prophesied to be silly women. (2 Tim 3:1-6). Let’s unpack the following verses a bit.

Gen 6:5, Titian, “Profane Love (Vanity)” I wonder who that man is, creeping in, & whom the mirror is turned towards?

In those days: “men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5, KJV)

Men will have a form of godliness, a “morphósis” or an outward appearance only. Of these kind, they creep into houses, and lead silly captive women away who are laden with diverse lusts.” Strange. These men who have an outward appearance of godliness, men who are mentioned in the middle of a passage where every unsavory kind of behavior is described, these men appear godly and will worm their way into homes where silly women are ensnared and captivated. Duped and enchanted, these women are drenched in lust, and will respond to these men and be “aichmalótizó-” captivated and ensnared. Hmmm.

Then the verse continues immediately by mentioning Jannes and Jambres withstanding Moses. These were the two magicians who were Pharaoh’s sorcerers. Of all the men who rebelled against God in the bible, these two are mentioned here in connection with carrying lustful women away. Not Saul, not Achan, not Herod or Esau or Cain. The two divinely inspired examples purposely written here are two sorcerers who have an appearance of godliness and take women by enchantment. It is reminiscent of the fallen angels who took women, all that they chose, and mated with them.

The verse goes further in verse 13, saying “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse __ deceiving and being deceived”. Note the difference between ‘evil men’ and ‘seducers’. Other translations say imposters. Why the distinction between the two? Is not an evil man a seducer and vice versa? And imposter? Well, not when he is an enchanter, as the Greek word for seducer shows. The Greek word seducer/imposter  means, “This person uses their verbal spells and incantations to give the (false) impression they can do miracles, a wailer, enchanter, a sorcerer, a swindler.” Like Jannes and Jambres, enchanters doing false miracles. The verse above says that satan “masquerades” as an angel of light, which is an imposter, and we are also told that he can perform false miracles to fool people.

I am just posing some thoughts on these words in the verses and their deeper meaning within the context. When you really begin looking at the language, and learning the original meanings of the Greek words, it begins to perk me up to the possibilities this is what Jesus and Paul were alluding to about perilous times and the Days of Noah.

Here is my summary of the verses from Jesus and Paul: in the last days, seducers, magicians, enchanters and imposters will come, masquerading as godly, that have light but are dark, that pretend godliness but are the opposite, captivate and then lead away lustful women just as they did in the Days of Noah when every inclination was evil.

I didn’t realize this was getting long, so next time in Part 3, I’ll go into the mighty men who are prophesied to be behind the economy in the Tribulation, also vampirism and drug-induced states where silly women fall captive to these men- i.,e. the vampire’s erotic gaze.

Sun Unleashes ‘Spectacular’& Powerful Eruption
“The sun unleashed a massive solar storm today (June 7) in a dazzling eruption that kicked up a vast cloud of magnetic plasma that appeared to rain back down over half of the sun’s entire surface, NASA scientists say. The solar storm hit its peak at about 2:41 a.m. EDT (0641 GMT), but the actual flare extended over a three-hour period, said C. Alex Young, a solar astrophysicist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center who runs a website called The Sun Today, in a video describing the event.”

“The sun produced a quite spectacular prominence eruption that had a solar flare and high-energy particles associated with it, but I’ve just never seen material released like this before,” Young said. “It looks like somebody just kicked a giant clod of dirt into the air and then it fell back down.” [Video: See the sun’s June 7 solar flare and eruption] … An alert by the NOAA-operated Space Weather Prediction Center stated that the solar flare could create a strong geomagnetic storm on Wednesday (June 9) from the event’s coronal mass ejection (CME), an explosion of charged particles triggered by the flare. … “It’s nothing we really have to worry about,” Young said in his video. “It’s just really, really beautiful.” … It is somewhat unique because at many places in the eruption there seems to be even cooler material —at temperatures less than 80,000 Kelvin,” SDO scientists explained.” That last reference was in relation to the fact that the flare wasn’t even the temperature it should be. It was clocked at 80,000 Kelvin (143,540 degrees Fahrenheit ) when ejections of this kind are usually 900,000F at the corona to tens of millions of degrees F in an ejection. And he understatingly calls this “somewhat unique”?? Fear God, man, fear God!

In the UK Daily Mail, they report “Hotting up: Sun wakes up from sleep for busiest sunspot cycle in years and threatens to disrupt Earth communications and power“
“Of the flare, scientists say, “This one was rather dramatic,’ said Bill Murtagh, programme co-ordinator at the NWS’s Space Weather Prediction Centre, describing the M-2 (medium-sized) solar flare that peaked at 1:41 am Eastern time in the United States, or 0541 GMT on Monday. ‘We saw the initial flare occurring and it wasn’t that big but then the eruption associated with it — we got energy particle radiation flowing in and we got a big coronal mass ejection,’ he said. ‘You can see all the materials blasting up from the sun so it is quite fantastic to look at.’ ‘Generally it is not going to cause any big problems, it will just have to be managed,’ he said.”

I’ve been watching the sun over the last few years, slowly becoming familiar with space weather and all its associated terms and meanings. The sun is an amazing solar object and the delicate balance we enjoy with is as earthlings is even more astounding. If you look at Creation Day 4, God put the sun and the moon and the stars in their positions for definite purposes, and those purposes were designed to directly benefit us. The sun is not just an object to admire or an object for scientists to study, the sun has a purpose for us.

“Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night.” (Genesis 1:14-16). The first purpose was to create day and night. The night allows us rest. Nightly rest maintains our biorhythms. If you know how fearfully and wonderfully we are made, you know that the engine that is the human body is a wonder. For one example, if you were to take all the DNA in our bodies that is contained in each of our trillions of cells, and connect it together, and stretch it out, it would reach the moon and back 500,000 times. That’s right. And that is just one miracle that is our body. We need sleep, and because the earth rotates around the sun, we can rest in the cool dark night. The sun provides relief from the searing heat, depending on where you live. The US and France are both enduring a heat wave now and we know how much excessive heat interrupts the body, the daily routines on earth, and electrical power. Night allows certain animals to hunt and that maintains the balance of the ecosystem. It refreshes with dew that collects overnight. Those are just a few of the signs that the sun gives us through night and day.

“Jesus replied, “There are twelve hours of daylight every day. During the day people can walk safely. They can see because they have the light of this world. It is when he walks by night that he stumbles, for he has no light.” (John 11:9-10)

The moon, which reflects the sun, serves as a marker for a 24 hour day for those cultures who use the moon to set lengths of days, like the Israelites do. The sun and moon and stars offer aid to navigation, serving as signs in the day and the night that until recently with the advent of GPS, allowed sailors and travelers of every culture to find their way.

The LORD said that the sun will also be a sign for seasons. Because the earth rotates around the sun over the course of a year, we have different seasons. Only very recently have we as a planetary population become non-agrarian. For most of the 6000 years humans have been on earth, we have planted by the sun and by the seasons. The very first curse God gave Adam at the Fall was that the ground would be cursed, and planting and harvesting would be hard. (Genesis 3:17-19).

So the sun has been our friend for days and years and seasons. It gives light and it gives rest from light. It sets the day and the seasons according to God’s decree (Daniel 2:21). However, in the Tribulation period of judgment, the sun will not be our friend. It will become our enemy. The LORD put the sun and the moon and the stars in place to help us and in the Judgment period, they will not be of help. In Revelation 8:12 a third of the sun was struck with darkness. By Rev 16:8-9 the angel pours out a bowl and scorching heat sears all who are unlucky enough to wander outside. In Revelation 16:10 the sun goes out completely and there is darkness. The Lord sets the sun and the Lord strikes the sun. Worse, the antichrist messes with the times and the seasons. (Daniel 7:25). How can he do that, you wonder? Well, we didn’t always have a Leap Year. The seasons have been changed several times before by adjusting the length of a month or even a week. The sun and moon and stars will fail us, and interfere with those on planet earth in a big way. Perhaps we are seeing His power now as the precursors increase in advance of the Tribulation. You notice the language the scientists used in the two articles about the most recent Coronal Mass Ejection. “astonishing”, “Somewhat unique”, ‘never before seen’, “fantastic”, “dramatic”… And the last line about having to manage the results of the CME is really pitiful. The sun is acting up and its behavior is becoming more astonishing each month. At some point, its ejections will NOT be “manageable.” The interruptions to earth’s people in terms of failed electronics, failed grids, failed navigation systems, failed satellites and communications will be completely unmanageable. If God judged Adam for his sin by cursing the ground he walked on, toiled in, and labored to grow sustenance, are we any different? People should expect labor, pain, toil, inconvenience, and curse in this upcoming judgment period related to the sun. It was set there at His pleasure and He takes it away at His pleasure.

I am glad that during that period, I will be standing in His light! Citizens of New Jerusalem have no need of the sun because as Isaiah prophesied in chapter 60:20 — “Your sun will no longer set, Nor will your moon wane; For you will have the LORD for an everlasting light, And the days of your mourning will be over.” Any person who recognizes their sins are preventing them from having a relationship with Him who set the objects in the heavens and asks Jesus forgiveness of those, will be in His Light forever, too. Do it soon, the “spectacular and powerful eruptions” of the sun are warnings that only increase in power and menace, showing us the time is short.

Weather channel data on record-smashing tornado season

The Weather Channel and weather.com’s Tornado Expert Dr. Greg Forbes says the 2011 tornado numbers are a mind-boggling 106% above average. And the year is not over yet. “It took until December in 2010 to have as many tornadoes as we’ve already had this year,” says Dr. Forbes. Needless to say, by virtue of an inconceivable April, we’re on a record pace. While we’ve had tornadoes in every month this year, the extreme tornado outbreaks began in April and continued through May. Dr. Forbes keeps a meticulous list of every tornado report throughout the year. He’s crunched the numbers to compare 2011 to every other year in the past decade:

“Only 8 years in history have had more tornadoes for a full year than we’ve already had this year, the most being 1819 in 2004,” Dr. Forbes points out. “We’ve had almost twice as many tornadoes thus far this year as happened to date in that record year (2004)! As to what to expect in the rest of the year, Dr. Forbes points out the year is only halfway done.”

As many always say, in vainly attempting to show that all is well, weather always has happened and always will happen, they are half right. Weather has always happened, but we see from the data on earthquakes, volcanoes, and tornadoes that MUCH MORE weather is happening than ever before. Notice the data shows that while number of tornadoes overall this year is up 106%, tornadoes for April are up +367%. In another blog entry I’d shown that weather men with a straight face said that it seemed like there were more tornadoes because there were more people experiencing and reporting them. I don’t think a plus 367 percent increase over average is commensurate with a proportional rise in population since last year. That’s my kind way of saying, get real. It was a lame excuse then and it is a lame excuse now in the face of data from a credible source. It’s God, people. The end times are here.

E coli source eludes scientists, new strain continues to kill

The story of the week has to be the e coli epidemic that began in Germany. I noticed news out of Germany over a week ago that reported people being hospitalized in an e coli scare. According to FamilyDoctor.org, e coli bacteria “cause severe cramps and diarrhea. E. coli is a leading cause of bloody diarrhea. The symptoms are worse in children and older people, and especially in people who have another illness.” The Organic Trade Association says, “E. coli (Escherichia coli) are bacteria that normally live in the intestines of animals, including humans. In fact, the presence of E. coli and other kinds of bacteria within our intestines is necessary to help the human body develop properly and to remain healthy. There are approximately 100 strains of E. coli, most of which are beneficial.” It typically occurs when meat is undercooked or raw vegetables containing the bacteria are consumed that have not been washed well and typically it can be handled with an antibiotic and goes away in a few days.

This e coli strain is different. It kills. Fast.

In Germany, as people who came down with it failed in health, they were quickly hospitalized. Then more were hospitalized. Then they started dying. They died quickly, with kidney failure. The doctors started to get scared and a panic was born.

May 23:  “Potentially fatal strain of e-coli spreading in Germany“
Two victims of a potentially fatal strain of e-coli have been placed on artificial respiration machines, a Frankfurt hospital said Monday, while hospitals across Germany were reporting a surge in infections.”

Then the next day, May 24, “Three people with E.coli infection die in Germany” German authorities have appealed for calm following the deaths of three people infected with a deadly strain of the E.coli bacterium.”

That didn’t take long…appeals for calm amidst a deadly strain of disease they can’t find the source of. Food roulette. Every uncooked thing you put in your mouth could be deadly. No wonder they appealed for calm. On May 31st CNN asked “How serious is Germany’s e coli outbreak? By then, 16 people had died.

As of today, 10 countries are affected, “Scientists are working to find out more about the bug behind the serious food poisoning, which has now killed 17 people in Germany and one in Sweden. Their tests so far show that the illness looks like a new disease. More than 1,500 people in 10 countries have been hit by the E. coli bug, including seven people in the UK,” reports the BBC.

The news worsened over the last few days, revealing that kidneys failed quickly after contracting it, and that it is a new strain. Time Magazine reports simply that the “e coli vegetable scare hits Europe“. “As scientists scramble to find the source of an E. coli outbreak linked to raw vegetables that has killed 18 in Europe and sickened nearly 2,000, consumers are swearing off lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes just in case. Schools have pulled raw vegetables from menus, piles of cucumbers sit untouched on shop shelves, and farmers say they’re losing millions. “Cook it or don’t eat it,” Hamburg kidney specialist Rolf Stahl told reporters at a press conference about the epidemic on Friday.”

Germany reports 199 new cases in two days, and fear grips hospitals. “At least 18 people have died and 1,823 cases have been reported, according to the World Health Organization in Geneva. The number of reported cases is based on hospital records, and the actual number of infections may be 10 or more times higher, said Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota. The strain circulating in Germany and nine other European countries produces a toxin not usually seen in E. coli that can damage the kidneys and other organs. Germany alone has reported 520 cases of the kidney ailment” Bloomberg reports today.

Surrounding nations began issuing warnings, both cooking warnings and travel warnings. Then more people started getting sick. Farmers began dumping crops, as seen in this Reuters photo below:

The source of the outbreak could not be found. Was it cucumbers? Tomatoes? And then the real panic began. It is “an entirely new super-toxic E. coli strain,” according to BGI-Shenzhen, a DNA sequencing center in China.”

And we end up today with another superlative. I mention frequently that the weather and the world economy and finances often cause new superlatives each week or each day. “Deadliest tornado on record”, “Historic snowfall, “Epic flooding.” Reporters are running out of words to describe the ratcheting -up of events that continually surpass known and expected measurements. Now this:  “E. coli that has sickened thousands in Europe has become the deadliest outbreak of the bacteria on record as a rare strain is causing kidney failure in unprecedented numbers, U.S. health officials said.” Deadliest. On record. Wall Street Journal says “The outbreak is the deadliest in modern history to involve E. coli,”

The bible says that in the Tribulation we will have pestilences. Of that Luke 21:11 verse, John MacArthur says, [excerpted] “over the centuries civilizations have endured smallpox epidemics, viral hemorrhagic plagues, Bubonic plagues, the Black Death in “England, Ireland, Scotland, Portugal, Russia…just massacring people everywhere, whole villages, whole cities, people dying by the hundreds of thousands all across Europe. … Bubonic plagues in Iceland, Europe, Moscow. … From 1850 to 1900 there was a pandemic of Bubonic plagues in China that killed millions and millions of people. Today we’re afraid of the Czar’s virus, the bird flu, staph infection, and we realize that bacteria are morphing around some of the antibiotics that have been dealing with them in the past. And the whole world is put on notice that we’re all susceptible to all of this.”

In the past three years we had a bird flu pandemic, Gulf Oil spill poisoning fears, radiation fears, and now the e coli plague hitting Europe. Scientists have not been able as yet to find the source, and it has been weeks already since the e coli disease began in Germany in early May. Farers are incurring temendous losses. hospitals are filling. The news reports use words like “fear”, “scare”, and “superbug”.  I want you to really see how unexpected and how sudden the bible verses will come true. When the church is gone, pestilences will crop up from anywhere, anytime, all the time. We are completely vulnerable! That is the point of these warnings. We must rely on Jesus and Jesus alone. Nothing man builds will remain standing at the end. It all comes down. Nothing man learns will be proved of worth at the end. It will all become a vapor, and poof, what we thought was solid knowledge will be gone. Only Jesus matters, only Jesus counts. Man’s strengths are actually his failings. Today an earthworm plague, a suddenly erupting volcano at Mexico City, a killer e coli outbreak in Germany whose source eludes scientists, a deadly tornado in Springfield Mass… what next? I don’t know but what I do know is that there will be something and I also know that it will happen soon. Birth pangs are like that, relentless, coming faster and faster.

Are people by now feeling unbalanced, like nothing can be predicted any more? Good. That’s Jesus telling us HE is the rock. HE is the refuge. Turn to Him and you will not fear. “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” (1 John 4:18) for “He himself is our peace.” (Ephesians 2:14a)

I am still working on the main blog entry for today, after having done many errands, cleaned, and wrote on my other blog first. But this caught my attention. Ew. Gross!

Recent heavy rains and the mating season thought to be the causes of the worm deaths in the Ohio Tri-State (In other words, they don’t know)

People across the Tri-State [Ohio Indiana Kentucky] awoke to an unusual sight Thursday — thousands of earthworms lying dead on sidewalks and porches. WLWT was first alerted to the issue by Rick in West Chester. “This appears to have started sometime yesterday afternoon, as I do not remember seeing them yesterday morning,” Rick wrote. Shortly after Rick’s email, WLWT reporter Brian Hamrick began taking photos from his home in Florence, where thousands of worms coated the sidewalks of his neighborhood. After one post on FB, more than 90 people said they had seen the same thing, from Fairfield, to Mount Airy, Pleasant Ridge, Independence and Sardinia. We even got confirmation from our sister TV station in Louisville that they had a few hundred dead worms on their sidewalk. WLWT went in search of an answer as to why so many worms died all at once. Lee Townsend, an entomologist at the University of Kentucky, said there could be three reasons: the recent heavy rains, mating season or acidic soils. Townsend said the rain and mating season were the most probably culprits. During mating season, the worms climb out of the ground and can get stuck on surfaces like the sidewalk, where they are left to die.”

In another article, they report, “After one post on Facebook, more than 90 people said they had seen the same thing, from Fairfield to Mount Airy, Pleasant Ridge, Independence and Sardinia. WLWT even got confirmation from its sister TV station in Louisville that they had a few hundred dead worms on their sidewalk. WLWT went in search of an answer as to why so many worms died all at once.”

It isn’t a plague of frogs, nor a plague of lice, nor a plague of flies. (Exodus 8-9). It is a plague of worms. I didn’t change the words in the MSNBC headline. That was theirs. Entomologists are trying to explain why three states are experiencing a plague of worms that are grossing people out. Heavy rains? There are many springs and early summers where it rains hard. Mating season? Doesn’t that happen every year? From day to day, things sure are getting exciting! I wonder what tomorrow will bring.

Mysterious loud boom in Philly causes panic

I’ve been reporting on a mysterious event that is happening in various US states at various times lately. It seems that a huge boom would occur that sounded like an explosion or an earthquake, but no explosion nor earthquake had happened. In some places it was proposed that a meteor had fallen but no meteor was in sight. Physical effects of these mystery booms are felt or seen, the ground briefly shakes, pictures swing on hooks, windows rattle. But there is no physical cause to attribute to the effects that are clearly seen and heard. Just a huge “BOOM”. Another one happened in Philly last night and this one was loud. It caused panic. It was clearly seen and heard, so much so that a multitude of rescue and first responder vehicles arrived at the scene. But there was no scene.

One witness: ‘It sounded like something above you, fell down.’
A mystery ‘boom’ that ‘may not have been explosion’ caused panic in northeast Philadelphia and Lower Bucks County at approximately 9:30 PM, May 27, 2011, according to a local NBC report, with multiple fire trucks, EMS, and power companies racing to the ‘scene’. After reaching the area, no one could locate the source of an explosion. Also reported, house’s shook which led to speculation it may have been an earthquake. According to NBC 7 the USGS was unable to confirm the boom was an earthquake. Other speculation, a sonic boom which was heard in only northeast Philadelphia and Lower Bucks County.
NBC 10 Philadelphia video news report:

‘Calls and emails flooded NBC 10 News after reports of several loud bangs. This is in northeast Philadelphia and Lower Bucks County. Fire and emergency units raced to the scene but it is still not clear what has happened here.’

The local NBC reporter:

‘This is a very strange situation out here you can see behind me there are multiple crews from the fire department and the police department as well as crews from PICO and PGW. This is the area of 9th and Fairdale Rd. in Northeast Philadelphia. Here’s what we know, at about 9:30 tonight the fire department started getting multiple calls of what some people described as a possible explosion. Some people I’ve been talking to at the scene said that it actually felt like a minor earthquake. Whatever it was at this point investigators have not been able to determine what that explosion was or if it even was an explosion but people said it lasted only a few seconds.’

One witness: ‘It sounded like something above you, fell down.’ Another witness: ‘It sounded like something hit the building, like a car. It was just a shake and that’s when the cops and everything were here. And someone said a house blew up and everyone came running out and no one knows what it is.’—end of report—

As the witness said, ‘it sounded like something above you, fell down.’ Is it the voice of the LORD, warning us? Making His presence known? I don’t know but increasingly I am believing that it is. When one boom happens it is non-news, just a minor mystery upon which we shrug and go our way. When two happen in various places I go ‘oh well, that’s interesting.’ I begin to perk up at three, because in my mind, it is a pattern now. When 20 or 30 happen now THAT is something we all should pay attention to. That all 30 (or so) have no visible cause, and when the event is investigated by officials from all scientific disciplines and no cause is found, it makes for a good case that it is supernatural. The US Geological survey explicitly stated each time none were quakes. Police, gas line men, drilling experts, all say that in their sphere the boom was not man-made from their particular activity. Military bases were contacted and no hot military exercises were ongoing in that location nor were there sonic booms the sounds could be related to.

Is God calling attention to Himself? It could be. When all man-made and earthly causes have been excluded, you look up. The presence of God in the earth is real. “The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.” (Psalm 29:5). His voice breaketh the cedars, He certainly can utter a sound again as He has done in the past and make Himself known. Prophetically, the end of the end time and certainly the Tribulation are a period when He has promised to make Himself known on earth to greater and greater degrees. It is a time when science and analytical rationality fly out the window as He supersedes these man made constructs and He demonstrates His power over both. As the witness said, if I may change one word in his observations, ”it sounded like something above you, came down.”

Into the tempest: would you cut away the lifeboat?

I was reading Acts 27 this morning and the sea faring language was a wonderful refresher of days when I lived on a sailboat. I’m sorry for posting much of the chapter, but here is today’s text for discussion:

The Voyage to Rome Begins
1 And when it was decided that we should sail to Italy, they delivered Paul and some other prisoners to one named Julius, a centurion of the Augustan Regiment. 2 So, entering a ship of Adramyttium, we put to sea, meaning to sail along the coasts of Asia. Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, was with us. 3 And the next day we landed at Sidon. And Julius treated Paul kindly and gave him liberty to go to his friends and receive care. 4 When we had put to sea from there, we sailed under the shelter of Cyprus, because the winds were contrary. 5 And when we had sailed over the sea which is off Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia. 6 There the centurion found an Alexandrian ship sailing to Italy, and he put us on board. 7 When we had sailed slowly many days, and arrived with difficulty off Cnidus, the wind not permitting us to proceed, we sailed under the shelter of Crete off Salmone. 8 Passing it with difficulty, we came to a place called Fair Havens, near the city of Lasea.

Paul’s Warning Ignored
9 Now when much time had been spent, and sailing was now dangerous because the Fast was already over, Paul advised them, 10 saying, “Men, I perceive that this voyage will end with disaster and much loss, not only of the cargo and ship, but also our lives.” 11 Nevertheless the centurion was more persuaded by the helmsman and the owner of the ship than by the things spoken by Paul. 12 And because the harbor was not suitable to winter in, the majority advised to set sail from there also, if by any means they could reach Phoenix, a harbor of Crete opening toward the southwest and northwest, and winter there.

13 When the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their desire, putting out to sea, they sailed close by Crete. 14 But not long after, a tempestuous head wind arose, called Euroclydon. 15 So when the ship was caught, and could not head into the wind, we let her drive. 16 And running under the shelter of an island called Clauda, we secured the skiff with difficulty. 17 When they had taken it on board, they used cables to undergird the ship; and fearing lest they should run aground on the Syrtis Sands , they struck sail and so were driven. 18 And because we were exceedingly tempest-tossed, the next day they lightened the ship. 19 On the third day we threw the ship’s tackle overboard with our own hands. 20 Now when neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small tempest beat on us , all hope that we would be saved was finally given up. 21 But after long abstinence from food, then Paul stood in the midst of them and said, “Men, you should have listened to me, and not have sailed from Crete and incurred this disaster and loss. 22 And now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. 23 For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, 24 saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.’ 25 Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me. 26 However, we must run aground on a certain island.”

27 Now when the fourteenth night had come, as we were driven up and down in the Adriatic Sea, about midnight the sailors sensed that they were drawing near some land. 28 And they took soundings and found it to be twenty fathoms; and when they had gone a little farther, they took soundings again and found it to be fifteen fathoms. 29 Then, fearing lest we should run aground on the rocks, they dropped four anchors from the stern, and prayed for day to come. 30 And as the sailors were seeking to escape from the ship, when they had let down the skiff into the sea, under pretense of putting out anchors from the prow, 31 Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, “Unless these men stay in the ship, you cannot be saved.” 32 Then the soldiers cut away the ropes of the skiff and let it fall off.”

A lee shore is when the wind is coming across your boat and driving it into the rocky shore. You run aground and the waves then pound your boat to pieces. A lee shore is a scary position to be in. It is hard enough for sailboats these days but back then square rigged sails couldn’t point into the wind even as much as triangular sails. In either case, with no engine all you could do is thrown out an anchor or two for drag, and try and tack away from the shore (making progress by long zig zags) by pointing into the wind as much as possible.

Now think about these sailors. It’s been TWO WEEKS! They haven’t eaten properly, then they ate nothing at all. You can’t cook when the seas are that rough. You can’t sleep, and all hands are needed to keep changing the sails for tacking. This is strength-sapping to the extreme and you are exhausted to begin with. You are literally battling the wind and waves, which, remember is late fall now so it is cold. [“After the Fast” is Yom Kippur, in Oct.] It is LOUD. A tempest isn’t quiet. The rigging squeals, the masts creak, the boat pounds into the waves, the spray hisses, the cargo shifts. The seas roar. Captain yells, and the men moan. It is loud. They threw off cargo, they threw off rigging, which meant spare sails, ropes, and other items needed for sailing the boat. They even tied the ship together with ropes! (“undergird the ship”) When all seemed lost, they got ready to let down the lifeboat.

These men were tired, cold, hungry, scared, and knew they were about to die. They had thrown off everything they could, and if they’d had Jonah on board, they’d likely have thrown him off too. When you are in that condition for as long as you are, it is survival mode. Your whole world narrows to getting through the next minute, coming up intact from the last wave. A lifeboat becomes your only vision, your only hope. Your only chance…and Paul told them to let it go.

Imagine the drama of that moment. The only thing between life and death in their view was that lifeboat. And yet…they listened to Paul and they cut it away.

Would you cut it away? Have you cut away all backups, lifeboats, safety nets? Are you making Jesus your only hope, your only life? He promised them life, and He promised you life eternal. His promises are good. If you are in the tempest, remember that Jesus is the lifeboat! And He will never leave your or forsake you.
