Nukes are suddenly back in the news, plus, mystery radiation

Remember the 1950s and 1960s frenzy about nuclear weapons? We had ‘duck and cover’ drills at school. There was a ‘Fallout Shelter” triangle poster on every school and sturdy building. Civil defense authorities and notifications were common in pamphlet, television and radio. Movies and films reflected the common dread that one day, a nuke would fall and WWIII would begin.

Then in the 80s everything changed when Reagan came in and confronted the worst evils of communism through harsh rhetoric and backed it with military buildup. The Berlin Wall came down and the Soviet Union collapsed in the 1990s. And that was the end of hearing about nuclear weapons for two decades.

The triangle fallout shelter placards faded. The pamphlets from Civil Defense organizations drifted away like leaves. First responders were into training and preparation of ‘sexier’ catastrophes like Ebola and pandemics and exotic chemical weapons.

When I was an editor and reporter of a weekly newspaper in Maine a few years ago, I interviewed the manager of the last Maine nuke bunker and wrote a story about it. The bunker seemed like an anachronism, cute even. Buried in the side of a hill in Windham, it housed, and may still house, the Cumberland County emergency operations center. The concrete underground center was built in 1960 during the the Cold War.

The Lewiston Maine daily did a story in 2005 titled,

“The Cold War is over and fears it engendered about nuclear war have diminished. But the state still maintains an underground shelter in Cumberland County – just in case. Maine Emergency Management Agency Director Art Cleaves said the bunker near the state prison compound in Windham is covered by 12 feet of dirt and is well-maintained with an active communications center that would be used by state authorities in the event of a major calamity. Cumberland County’s Emergency Management Agency and dispatch center work from that site daily. The site “is a holdover from the 50s,” said Cleaves, noting that modern emergency planning is geared more toward terrorism than a nuclear attack.”

Well, everything old is new again. Or should I say, everything old is nuke again. Nuclear weapons and nuke attacks and mystery radiation are in the news and on the consciousness of citizens coast to American coast.

Mystery radiation has been drifting over many European countries like unwanted acid rain. They are calling it “radioactive dust”. No one knows where it is coming from and Fukushima Nuclear Plant is not the source. IAEA official: “We are a little concerned”. IAEA press release on the situation is here.

Riddle of the radiation sweeping across Europe: UN nuclear agency mystified by soaring levels
“Very low levels of radioactive iodine-131 have been detected throughout Europe, but the particles are not believed to pose a public health risk, the U.N.nuclear agency said on Friday. NASA have released images of 2,400 stars, known as the Tarantula Nebula, that are producing intense radiation and powerful winds, believed to be the cause for the detection in the atmosphere.”

Huh? Unknown radiation continuing to be released in Europe?? And it is from the Tarantula Nebula??? Erm, OK.

Another article later in the week from Stockholm News reported that there was Radioactive dust over Sweden. The IAEA officials are quoted in that article as saying, “We are a little concerned, because there must be a source somewhere.” Germany, Sweden, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Denmark. Reuters: reported on the issue, as did MSNBC. The AP titled their article “Abnormal radiation in Hungary, no risk seen.” Boy, if that isn’t an oxymoron…

Here’s something just weird about nukes in the news…. I can’t figure it out. CNews is a conglomeration of Canadian newspapers that include the Sun papers: the Calgary Sun, the Edmonton Sun, the Ottawa Sun, and so on. They have a neat feature of presenting one news item in graphic form only. It could be a map or a graph or a cartoon-like flow chart. The feature’s tagline is “In 5 minutes: news & events, visually.” It seeks to present information in a visual form with no other explanation, the picture being the explanation. So this week, out of nowhere, the Sun papers published this:

What really happens when a nuclear bomb hits?

The graphic explores in picture form radiation maps, fallout symptoms, burn wounds, and the like. Why this? Why now? Because nuclear bombings are back on the table. With that comes radiation. And two radiation incidents occurred this week. One is kind of hard to figure out, which is the mystery radiation in Europe mentioned above, and the other which has an explanation is below. But the hard to figure out part on that one is whether the officials are telling the truth that the local citizenry is safe from effects from the leaked plutonium…

At least 17 INL employees exposed to radiation
“IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Officials with the Idaho National Laboratory say at least 17 workers were exposed to low-level radiation from plutonium.The employees were working inside the facility’s decommissioned Zero Power Physics Reactor Tuesday afternoon when a container holding plutonium was opened, exposing them to radiation.”

In 1979, Iran declared war on the US and on Israel. They have been single-mindedly aiming toward completion of their goal ever since. Their goal? Wipe out the Great Satan (US) and the little satan (Israel). Iran gathered enough money and trained enough scientists so that they have been for at least ten years in actuality edging ever closer to making a nuclear bomb so they could accomplish the promised obliteration. The reality of Iran’s goal didn’t ever seem to penetrate US consciousness and we did not consider them a threat. Israel always did, but we did not listen. Things got serious a couple of years ago, (late 2008-2009) when Iran seemed to have made some astounding breakthroughs toward their goal of developing a bomb. This snippet from 2009 explains one of the breakthroughs:, which was to make a trigger for the bomb.

At that time, Israel wanted to make a foray into Iran to strike their nuclear facilities. To do this, Israel has to fly over Jordan and then the width of Iraq before even getting to the border of Iran. When Israel said they wanted to strike, the US was against the strike, preferring to exhaust diplomatic and economic options first. Israel was insistent. Then-former US security adviser to President Carter, Zbigniew Brzezinski said that the US should use their stationed troops in Iraq to militarily prevent Israel from flying over. In fact, the Bush Administration toward the end of President Bush’s second term in 2008 actually refused the Israelis permission to fly over Iraq.

Iran has only made more progress toward their goal of producing a weapon of mass (Jewish) destruction. Israel is fed-up. The talk all this week has been of nuclear war, nuclear weapons, nuclear strikes, Israel striking Iran, and oh, by the way, with the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq by the end of this year, which is only 7 weeks away, it leaves the area wide open for Israel to fly over Iraq to strike Iran. A huge military vacuum that would allow Israel free range to fly into Iran. And that timeline seems consistent with what the Israelis are planning to do, at least according to this headline:

Israel may launch strike on Iran as soon as next month to prevent development of nuclear weapons
Senior Foreign Office figure: ‘We’re expecting something as early as Christmas, or very early in the new year.
“Israel will launch military action to prevent Iran developing a nuclear weapon as soon as Christmas, intelligence chiefs have warned. … Sources say the understanding at the top of the British Government is that Israel will attempt to strike against the nuclear sites ‘sooner rather than later’ – with logistical support from the U.S. … In recent weeks, Ministry of Defence sources confirmed that contingency plans have been drawn up in the event that the UK decided to support military action.”

Why is Israel so hot to take care of business? This week an IAEA report unequivocally remarked that Iran is this close to a bomb.

This week Israel test-launched a Jericho ICBM capable of delivering a nuclear weapon as far away as Iran. Folks, there is going to be war (Matthew 24:6, Revelation 6:3-4). It is becoming increasingly obvious that the wars will be nuclear. Because the Tribulation will be a time of complete apostasy, lawlessness, and evil, there will be nothing to stop men from pressing the button. The Holy Spirit will cease His ministry of restraint and it will be an evil free-for-all among men. Some of those men hold the nuclear codes in their hands and the top officials will think, “Why not?” and press ‘launch.’

Israel refuses to tell US its Iran intentions
“Israel has refused to reassure President Barack Obama that it would warn him in advance of any pre-emptive strike on Iran’s nuclear capabilities, raising fears that it may be planning a go-it-alone attack as early as next summer.”

Now there are two ways to react to the fact that the end of days is nearly here. You can search out that bunker in Maine and pound on the door when the bombs fly, hoping there are enough canned goods inside to feed you through the nuclear winter, or you can take refuge in Jesus.

He is the best option. He is peace forever, He is safety forever. Safety from sin and evil. He is forgiving, loving, inviting. He seeks you, even now, asking you to answer the call of eternity in your heart (Ecc 3:11). There is a reason the world is suddenly consumed with nuclear weapons, nuclear fallout, nuclear leakage from unknown sources. It is poison, and poisonous times are here and nearly overtaking the world. Come with us in the rapture. Things will only get worse from here on out, never returning to normal. But things are MORE than normal in heaven, and will be so forever.

Weird weather in OK puzzles climatologists

Want weird weather? Come to Oklahoma!
OKLAHOMA CITY – After one of the strangest local weather days in memory, an Oklahoma woman with a sense of humor asked on Twitter earlier this week:

“Wanna experience the apocalypse before it happens? Visit Oklahoma!” She posted that on Monday night shortly after a 4.7-magnitude aftershock earthquake shook the state. The temblor occurred not long after six tornadoes ripped through southwest Oklahoma, which was preceded by flash-flooding in an area that’s been plagued by a historic drought.

“Seriously, WHAT’S GOING ON?” someone else tweeted that night. The answers vary. Global warning? Coincidence? Bad luck? Bad timing? End of time? There’s agreement on only one thing: It’s been weird all year. “Even for Oklahoma, this is crazy,” said Rick Smith, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Norman. “Since January, we’ve been setting records. People are just kind of amazed and shocked.”

State records set this year have ranged from the lowest temperature (31 degrees below zero in Nowata in northeast Oklahoma) to snowfall in a 24-hour period (27 inches, also in Nowata) to the largest hail stone (a spiky, six-inch piece recovered in Gotebo, in southwest Oklahoma).

This year also produced the state’s highest-ever-recorded surface wind speed (151 miles per hour near El Reno, outside of Oklahoma City) and biggest known earthquake (5.6 magnitude, breaking the 1956 record). On Wednesday, Governor Mary Fallin declared a state of emergency for 20 counties because of earthquakes, tornadoes and severe storms.

TOUGH YEAR

“It’s been a tough year for Oklahoma when it comes to weather and natural disasters, but we’re doing everything we can to help,” Fallin said in a statement announcing the declaration. The state’s record-breaking earthquake got everyone’s attention. In the past week, counting both foreshock and aftershock earthquakes that sandwiched the state record-breaking rumbler, 32 earthquakes have been recorded in central Oklahoma. In Meeker, population 968, east of Oklahoma City, the town administrator was describing the damage and wondering aloud if his town, founded in 1903, could survive a California-style “big one.” “I’m beginning to think God’s a little mad at us,” Jim Howard said.

Howard was joking, but questions of the Almighty are coming into play in Oklahoma, where Christian beliefs underpin much of the culture. An Oklahoma City TV station interviewed a preacher who proclaimed, “I think it’s pointing up to the end of time.” That belief is not shared by all, even fervent believers. Nancy Dailey, a school teacher in Oklahoma City whose father was a Baptist preacher, dismisses doomsday talk from the pulpit, saying it just scares people. Still, she said she overheard two co-workers sharing end-of-the-world talk in the teacher’s lounge. “After all these natural disasters we’ve been having, at some point all you have left is humor to try and cope with it,” said Gary McManus, associate climatologist for the state.

There is at least one benefit to the state’s weather. Norman, home to the National Weather Festival, has become a magnet for meteorology students from around the country. The University of Oklahoma there built a five-story, $69 million National Weather Center six years ago, and installed the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) as its largest tenant. This week, NOAA said it will send the university $75 million in federal funds for weather radar research to improve severe storm forecasts and increase understanding of extreme weather. Smith, the National Weather Service meteorologist, calls OU a “top-of-the-list” institution for people serious about weather. “For going to school in a natural laboratory, you can’t beat it.” McManus agreed: “You don’t want to go to L.A. and study endless sunny skies.”

Eternity is set in our hearts

I follow David Burge (Iowahawk) on Twitter or on his blog and he is hilarious. He perfectly captures the crazy nut of today’s news in witty soundbites on Twitter and in lengthy explosions of irony on his blog. Here are a few snippets:

“Occupy Oakland dispels rumors of violence by attacking news crew filming murder scene.”
“I don’t want Occupy closed down. I want it forced to keep going.”
“We don’t need to have a bigger voice in Washington. We need Washington to have a smaller voice in us.”

The political news is crazy and bound to get crazier as the Presidential campaign heats up. The weather is nuts, the economy is depressed, the poor are getting poorer and the earthquakes just keep on coming. None of the above really matters. It is important to us now, but in the larger scheme of things, it is a gnat on the tail of an elephant, puny compared to the things that really matter. It doesn’t matter and it won’t matter because in the face of all that, we have this:

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11

Wow.

‘He has made everything beautiful in its time’. Babies, like babies. If you ever gazed on a sleeping baby you have seen beauty in its time. ‘He has set eternity in our hearts’, and if you are saved by grace and faith in Jesus, then you will experience eternity with Him, in joy. If you have not accepted Jesus as your savior then respond to that eternity in your heart, you know you’re yearning, asking, seeking. ‘No one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end’. No, I can’t, and that is the beauty of it, the eternity of it. A mysterious, omnipotent God who is unfathomable yet places Himself in our hearts and makes everything beautiful. I am glad I know Him.

Rest on the Sabbath, knowing that you will enter His rest soon and forever!

Hello all you wonderful Brothers and Sisters out there. Are the weeks getting longer, or is it just me? LOL, By the time Friday comes, I’m just pooped! If course, I’m thrilled to have been working in a job I love, so no complaints there. Weekends are an opportunity to rest and reflect on the week. I like to think back and go over the times where I may have stumbled and use the weekend for bible reading on the subject I stumbled on. I like to look back and praise the Holy Spirit for when I see where He helped me overcome something. I pray, study and think on Him and His word. Sundays are days for worship and fellowship, praising Him. In short, weekends are not only respite from the busy week but a clearing of space and time to reflect on the relationship I have with Him.

The bible does not speak much of the concept of rest, except that when it does speak of rest, it is always in the future. There are few people resting in the bible, lol. Even in Genesis 49:15 where Jacob said “When he saw that a resting place was good, And that the land was pleasant, He bowed his shoulder to bear burdens, And became a slave at forced labor” it means that they saw that the place was permanent and restful so they worked hard to prepare it for the day in the future when they could rest.

Hebrews 4 discusses rest. In that verse, the LORD is called the Rest. Heaven is the place of rest. (Also Psalms 5:11 and Heb 3:11).

Of course, the most important mention of rest was in Genesis 2:3 where God Himself rested on the 7th day. “Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.”

I like to be busy for the Lord and to use every minute I can to do His will and further His kingdom. But at times we have to stop. Continual work for the sake of work is not good. Though God was not tired, He stopped and rested on the 7th day to show US we need it. In addition, He didn’t just stop and rest, He blessed the day, AND He made it holy.

God made the sabbath a day of rest so rest must be important. He blessed the day, which means we should honor the sabbath and Him who established it in ancient days. He made it holy, putting His holy hands around the day as a hedge to set it apart as a day to honor Him, specifically.

Many other more worthy and academic people have preached on the importance of sabbath rest, so I’ll just say that as busy as I am and I like to be, setting aside a time when I can simply meditate on Him, praise Him, sing to Him, and rejoice in Him is a blessing indeed.

On this earth, we are called to work, to fight, to persevere, to wrestle, to run. There is no rest for us, the weary. At least, NOT YET. Picture the sabbath rests of those few precious hours as a drop of water on the tongue of Lazarus in hell, soothing for but a moment, but when we enter the Rest, and lay down our burdens in heaven, the full flowing water will slake our thirst forever and we may then rest. Imagine how refreshing it will be!

The permanent rest will be as a flowing fountain of peace, thoroughly drenching every cell of ours and relaxing us to a degree none can even imagine. No more fighting! No more persevering! No more wrestling! No more running! Our rest will be Jesus Himself!

Hold on but a bit longer. Enjoy your Sabbath day knowing it is a drop of a foretaste of what is to come. And it will come, and SOON!

Discernment lesson: the curse of popularity, Beth Moore, and Billy Graham

Did you know that the Lord curses religious popularity? He does. It is in Luke 6, where Jesus pronounces blessings and woes upon various groups of people. One of them that He pronounces woe upon are popular people and He urges the audience to remember the false prophets of old. Jesus says, “Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.” (Luke 6:26). Woe is the strongest possible curse. In the Greek, it is a grief or a cursed denunciation upon a person. Coming from the King of the Universe, the curse of popularity bears paying attention to.

Now, on earth, people seek popularity. There is nothing wrong with being a popular person in your job or in your class or in your family. It means you’re likable. But used in a religious context, if you are a popular teacher or pastor, watch out!

Barnes Notes explains of the verse: “When all men shall speak well of you – When they shall praise or applaud you. The people of the world will not praise or applaud “my” doctrine; they are “opposed” to it, and therefore, if they speak well of “you” and of “your teachings,” it is proof that you do not teach the true doctrine.”

Still not convinced? Jesus said in John 15:19 “If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.”

Matthew Henry commentary explains of the Luke popularity verse: “Woe unto you; that is, it would be a bad sign that you were not faithful to your trust, and to the souls of men, if you preached so as that nobody would be disgusted; for your business is to tell people of their faults, and, if you do that as you ought, you will get that ill will which never speaks well.”

Popularity is no guarantee of truth. In one of the Beth Moore exposés I had written, I noted in the comments section, “As to the wide acceptance of teachers, and authors, and others by the majority of mainstream Christianity today, well the first red flag to me is when the world begins to embrace a popular Christian. This is in opposition to what Jesus teaches in John 15:18-19. I’m always skeptical of wildly popular Christian personalities. Being wildly popular these days is almost a sign that falsity exists. People do not stand for sound doctrine, period. “The time will come when they [the people in the church] will not endure [tolerate] sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths” (2 Timothy 4:3-4). If there is a wildly popular, lucrative book, DVD, and speaking tour, sellout crowds, AND it is based on strict truth and nothing but the truth, show it to me and then knock me over with a feather.”

Pastor-teacher John MacArthur explains of the Luke verse, “And then the fourth is the curse of popularity. In verse 26, “Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for in the same way their fathers used to treat the false prophets.” And Scripture is pretty clear what happens to false prophets, and those who join with them and affirm them. Oh, you want everybody to speak well of you, huh? You…you’ve designed a religion that causes people to speak well of you. That’s a sign of being cursed. When everybody likes your approach to religion, you’re in serious trouble. When you can invent a kind of religion that offends nobody, that’s a serious indicator you’re not in the Kingdom.”

In late 2010, Christianity Today published a lengthy article about bible teacher Beth Moore. They opened the article saying, “Homespun, savvy, and with a relentless focus on Jesus, Beth Moore has become the most popular Bible teacher in America.”

Uh-oh. If I was the most popular bible teacher in America I’d want to get a spiritual check-up, pronto.

Let’s take a look at a reverse example of popular bible teachers, Jeremiah. Jeremiah lived a righteous life yet he was hated by all for proclaiming the Truth.

“Alas, my mother, that you gave me birth, a man with whom the whole land strives and contends! I have neither lent nor borrowed, yet everyone curses me.” (Jeremiah 15:10).

The more the Word is preached truthfully, the more it will be hated.  The more the Word is preached untruthfully, the more it will be loved. Preaching the true message does not attract believers, it convicts them. It rebukes them. It provokes them.Why? “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

That Beth Moore is SO popular is an indicator from the Lord’s own word that there is not truth being proclaimed. That’s Beth Moore, now on to Billy Graham.

Here is a link to the transcript from the 1997 interview with Robert Schuller with Billy Graham on his view of wider mercy. The Wider Mercy view is the idea that man in his depraved state can find God, do God’s will, live a righteous life to please God and then go to heaven when he dies. It is a view in which the Lord is going to include everybody in heaven, no matter if they have called on the name of Jesus to be saved or not. Billy Graham believes in the wider mercy view. I wrote about it three weeks ago, here.

It is a view he has held since at least 1997 and likely since 1960 when Graham wrote about it in his Decisions Magazine. Billy Graham believes that a person never calling on the Lord Jesus Christ and outside the body of Christ will go to heaven because he lived a good life?? That is not what the bible says.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Just in case we think, oh, that must be a fluke, Billy Graham doesn’t really believe that people of other faiths will inherit salvation? Right? Right? Well in 2005 he said the same thing on Larry King. It is by faith in Jesus alone that we are saved. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:9

Failure to speak of the wrath is to fail to alert people what they are being saved FROM:
“Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” (Romans 5:9)

It is sad that the “greatest evangelist of our time” Mr Graham believes the opposite of the Gospel, believes a different gospel, and thus it means he is false and should not be listened to. But it explains why he is so popular, beloved and famous. Here is a headline from an article from two days ago when Mr Graham turned 93: “Billy Graham, America’s most famous preacher, turns 93“. Wikipedia states, “Graham’s visibility and popularity extended into the secular world. He created his own pavilion for the 1964 New York World’s Fair. He appeared as a guest on a 1969 Woody Allen television special, where he joined the comedian in a witty exchange on theological matters. During the Cold War, Graham became the first evangelist of note to speak behind the Iron Curtain, addressing large crowds in countries throughout Eastern Europe and in the Soviet Union…”

Wow, a preacher so popular he is confidante to presidents, his fame extends into the secular world, his religious influence penetrates the communist/atheist iron curtain. Really? Not wow, but “Woe!”

It is sad to discover that a favored person whom we study under, read books by, or take courses of, is false. But they are out there, many, and more often that not, a famous person WILL be false- Luke 6:26 says so. The more popular someone is the more likely it is that they will be preaching a false Gospel. It is WOE to be universally liked!

Secular popularity of “Christian evangelicals” and teachers, should make us skeptical, yet Rev. Graham and other popular teachers such as Beth Moore are universally liked. How can this be so, when Jesus said that if they hated Him they will hate them also? In Billy Graham’s case, now we know why he is universally liked. He brings a different Gospel.

It’s crushing to know that Graham and Moore, and Osteen and Meyer, and so many other popular ones have woe unto them, when all men shall speak well of them. People who love sin hate the messenger who exposes it. If you are not hated, you are not exposing sin. In journalism they say “If you’re not drawing flak, you’re not over the target.” Are you over the target? If you are, there will be turbulence, turmoil, and plenty of shots at you. The Kingdom is coming, and it is real

Jesus is coming soon to judge sin, and to establish His Kingdom. (Daniel 2:44). It is going to last 1000 years and it is known as the Millennial Kingdom. (Isaiah 2:4, 42:1). He is also preparing a place called New Jerusalem for His church Age believers to dwell in. It will be established after the Tribulation and before eternity. It is a real kingdom, with real people, lands, and a ruler, namely Jesus and it will be on earth. (Luke 1:32-33). Jesus will have put satan in jail already for the entire duration, so there will be no devil tempting the un-glorified people re-populating the earth who live in the Kingdom. If you ever prayed The Lord’s Prayer, you have prayed for His kingdom to come:

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:9-10).

GotQuestions explains, “The purpose of the 1000-year reign is to fulfill promises God made to the world that cannot be fulfilled while Satan is free and humans have political authority. Some of these promises, called covenants, were given specifically to Israel. Others were given to Jesus, the nations of the world, and creation. All of these will be fulfilled during Jesus’ 1000-year reign.”

However, it is an exclusive kingdom. Not all people will be allowed into it. Any person can claim citizenship, but if citizenship is rejected, they will be denied entry to this wonderful kingdom! Jesus will only allow people who have been cleansed from sin to enter, people who have repented of their sins and asked Jesus to forgive them. Refusing to repent is in fact rejecting of your citizenship into this kingdom of perfect peace and love.

He is preparing us to understand that the time is nigh. He said He would send signs of the end of the age, and those signs are getting stronger with each passing day. The hatred and rejection of Jesus is one of those signs (2 Peter 3:3-4), as well as the love of one another growing cold (2 Timothy 3:2-4) and the falling away of Christians from solid doctrine. (1 Timothy 4:1). There are many other signs.

God said He will open up end time prophecy for all to understand and interpret so we can prepare for His Second Coming. (Daniel 12:9-10). That is why you have been hearing so MUCH lately about the end times, and the rapture and it is why there are so many Christians are saying “repent, the end is nigh”. He is opening up prophecy and opening the hearts of Christians to understand prophecy because the time IS nigh. It is the Holy Spirit opening up the hidden things because it is now the time to know them.

Now, the rapture is not the Second Coming, they are two different events. The rapture happens at the beginning of the final 7 years of Tribulation, and the Second Coming happens at the very end of that final 7 years. Then Jesus sets up His kingdom to fulfill the promises He has made throughout the bible, as mentioned above.

He wants one and all to enter His kingdom and His city but He cannot allow the wicked unrepentant to come in. He even sets angels at the gates of New Jerusalem so that nothing impure will ever enter. (Rev 21:12, Rev 21:27). Please consider your lives carefully, and understand that this decision for Jesus or against Jesus (which is the same as saying you decide for your own sin or reject your own sin) is a permanent one. Jesus loves each and every single person on this earth from the beginning to now. He knows the name of each person who is living, all 7 billion of us, and He knows the names of each person who has already lived and died. He wants all of us in His kingdom, either on earth or in New Jerusalem, but if you have rejected Him then you will not be allowed to dwell in glory with Him.

Do you really have so much pride that you refuse to ever say, ‘I do wrong and  that wrong is against a Holy God’? All the wrongs done in your mind or on your tongue or by your hands are deeds that are crimes against Jesus, and He will judge those sins. However, He died on the cross and shed His blood as the atoning sacrifice for your sins and thereby has pardoned them. That is how you claim your citizenship- by accepting His blood as a covering for your sins and accepting Him as your Lord.

I hope to see you there. He is coming soon. We who have already repented are eagerly awaiting the Blessed Hope. You who have not repented are running out of time to make that decision.

We have hope, and that is enough

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. These, then, are the things you should teach.” (Titus 2:11-15a)

So we live as we should, we wait, and we do good. We are waiting for The Blessed Hope, therefore we have HOPE! Hope of a life eternal, a life transcendent above these puny worldly concerns, a life with and among the glory of God in the crystal city. Do not despair, do not be downcast, because we are rich,we have the Blessed Hope!

How thin is civilization’s veneer? Thin, as this documentary shows

The following documentary from The History Channel is riveting. It depicts the beginning of, height, and aftermath of a global pandemic in which billions are killed. The famous phrase “nine meals from anarchy” is explained. It means that, grocery stores only have three days of food in stock at any given time, and when supply chains collapse, and no more food is delivered, people quickly will resort to anarchy when they go hungry. The veneer of civilization is very thin as Hurricane Katrina showed us, and this video illustrates how easily in this globally sophisticated world we can transmit a germ that causes a pandemic, and how soon after that, civilization collapses.

The documentary’s synopsis is- “What have past acts of destruction taught us about what will happen to mankind after the apocalypse? Is it inevitable that disaster will someday strike America on an unprecedented level? How has history prepared us? History’s most dramatic events–Hiroshima, 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and others are examined and analyzed with hard data gathered from their massive aftereffects.”

It is all the more vivid because though the documentary begins with the statement: “This film is a theoretical account of a worst case scenario for global disaster.” However, the worst case scenario for global disaster is all too real and the account is a good example of what is going to happen in the future, if you are not raptured. Revelation’s Seal Judgments unleash death on a massive scale and within months, billions die. A fourth of the earth, in fact. Then more after that. (Rev 9:15) One of the Judgments is plague, (Rev 6:8), a global pandemic, exactly like the one shown in the documentary. However, unlike the pandemic in the documentary, the remaining population in the real world Tribulation will also be dealing with wars, violence, and anarchy on a scale never seen before, no, nor shall ever be again. (Matthew 24:21).

Please watch the video with this in mind and turn to Jesus to avoid all the hell on earth that is coming your way. Reconcile with Him, He put eternity in your heart, after all, (Ecc 3:11) so you know you want to…

If you begin watching you won’t be able to stop, they’re that realistic.

Large quake in Oklahoma (Updated)

Update from CNN regarding damage, at bottom.

While geologists have been monitoring the quake swarm in Arkansas, which has renewed lately, a surprise series of quakes shook up Oklahoma overnight. First, Arkansas:

“The Arkansas Geological Survey says it is stepping up its monitoring of seismic activity in central Arkansas after dozens of small earthquakes in the region. Six minor quakes were recorded Friday near Quitman, the latest of more than 50 temblors in October. The Friday tremors began with a 2.0-magnitude quake around 7:45 a.m. and peaked with a 2.5 quake later in the morning.The shaking follows more than 1,000 earthquakes centered between Guy and Greenbrier from September 2010 to July of this year.”

The result of the research into the issue was to stop fracking. Fracking involves injecting pressurized liquid into the ground and geologists thought that was likely contributing to the shaking. Guess what? It wasn’t. The article continues:

“The quakes between Guy and Greenbrier tailed off significantly in August, but more quakes began occurring in October closer to Quitman. It sits about 10 miles northeast of Guy.That distance is potentially concerning, warned Scott Ausbrooks, geohazards supervisor for the Arkansas Geological Survey. The Quitman quakes are occurring along the same line as the Guy-Greenbrier ones, but there’s a miles-long gap between Guy and Quitman in which no quakes have been recorded. … So why is the shaking continuing if the drilling has stopped?”

But surprising residents in a large swathe of the Midwest last night a series of quakes occurred in Oklahoma, shaking up the state.

Quakes shake up state
NORMAN — Oklahoma was rocked by a series of earthquakes this weekend, with quakes being reported both early Saturday morning and late Saturday evening. The earthquakes knocked pictures off walls and woke people and pets as they shook an area that stretched into Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Texas. The U.S. Geological Survey said on its website Saturday that at 10:53 p.m., a 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck approximately 21 miles northeast of Shawnee in Pottawatomie County, approximately 44 miles northeast of Oklahoma City. “We all felt it down here, and right after we felt it we were inundated with 911 calls,” Norman Police Lt. Lance Arnold said immediately following the earthquake Saturday evening. “So far, we’ve not had any structural damage or injuries reported, just people calling to verify what they felt was an earthquake. We took hundreds of calls in a matter of minutes.” Earlier in the day, a 4.7 magnitude earthquake struck at 2:12 a.m., with an epicenter about six miles north of Prague in Lincoln County. That’s about 50 miles east of Oklahoma City. A 3.4 magnitude aftershock was reported at 2:27 a.m. from the same location, as well as a 2.7 magnitude aftershock at 2:44 a.m.” article continues at link.

USGS officials in this article simply state of the Oklahoma quakes that while they are not on a plate boundary and some quakes do occur in OK, “We’re unsure what that origin is,” McCarthy said.”

“Crews in central Oklahoma were out early Sunday morning assessing for damage from the largest quake to hit the state since record-keeping began. … [T]he quake caused at least three sections of U.S. Route 62 to buckle, said Aaron Bennett of the Lincoln County 911 and emergency management. … “They’re reporting that all the houses look like they’ve been ransacked,” Bennett said of the assessment crews.”
