De-baptism all the rage, complete with hair dryer

U.S. Atheists Reportedly Using Hair Dryers to ‘De-Baptize’
“American atheists lined up to be “de-baptized” in a ritual using a hair dryer, according to a report Friday on U.S. late-night news program “Nightline.” Leading atheist Edwin Kagin blasted his fellow non-believers with the hair dryer to symbolically dry up the holy water sprinkled on their heads in days past. The styling tool was emblazoned with a label reading “Reason and Truth.” Kagin believes parents are wrong to baptize their children before they are able to make their own choices, even slamming some religious education as “child abuse.” He said the blast of hot air was a way for adults to undo what their parents had done.”

Well, this is just so rife with opportunities to share the truth and also to clear up some misconceptions. First, I agree with Mr Kagin that parents are wrong to baptize their children when they are too young to decide for themselves. Infant baptism, sprinkling, is a corruption of the ordinance of baptism. Baptism is what a person does after they have come to believe in Jesus as the Sacrifice for their sins, and after they have repented of their sins and asked Jesus to forgive them. Believing on Jesus is a free choice for all, but no one who is an infant can consciously and purposefully make that choice.

Baptism is an outward expression of the changed life in a person, a change that begins immediately after believing. That’s because the Holy Spirit is sent as a deposit of the guarantee of the eternal life to come, and the person is then sealed. From that moment on, no one can snatch them from God’s hand, they are His forever.

Infant sprinkling is more of a dedication, an outward expression of the parents to demonstrate their intent to live Godly lives for their children and to raise them in the faith. It has no direct bearing on the child as far as salvation goes. You are only saved when you are born again, (John 3:3).

Further, before we all get our backs up, some religious education IS child abuse. No one can say that what happened in Jonestown Guyana, the feeding of cyanide to children in a mass suicide, wasn’t child abuse. There are other cults that also force children into emotional, sexual, or psychological servitude. Islam comes to mind here, here, here, and so on. That last link was a report on Muslim child suicide bombers. Adults inculcate their children into hate, strap an explosive flak jacket on a 9-year-old, and blow him up, and American atheists are worried about some water sprinkled on them 20 years ago? I would hope that mature Americans would have a greater perspective on the world’s real problems.

Left, de-baptism ceremony in 2008.

This report from July 18, 2010 asks, “What if you were baptized when you were an infant and decided to leave the faith later? According to the laws of many Christian religions, your baptism can never be reversed. That doesn’t sit well with many who have left Christianity.” Here’s a newsflash: most people who are baptised were never saved to begin with, including every baby that was ever baptised. If you aren’t saved, you can’t get UN-saved. Why? There is no such thing as an ex-Christian.

This gentleman who runs a blog called “Goosing The Antithesis”, attended a “Freethought Convention: in 2008, and got de-baptised there. He wrote:

“I predict that my “de-baptism” (walking under a hair-dryer) will have precisely the same effect as my actual baptism.”

I predict he is absolutely right. See, the problem is what he wrote here, “I have debated the issue of god-belief for a long time but honestly it was mostly an intellectual exercise for me. … The best proof of that is that no one really believes in God. How could you? It’s impossible to even conceptualize the idea of God, and you can’t believe in what you can’t conceptualize.” He’s right. But you don’t come to faith by understanding God, he is beyond understanding. The mistake many make is denying God because they can’t understand Him.

But do we believe in aerodynamics even though we don’t understand it? That the lumbering, heavier than air jet, will lift off prior to the end of the runway? Yes. Gravity? Yes. Space-time, fourth dimensions? Yes. We can’t conceptualize hyperdimensions but we still believe in them. Therefore this attitude of ‘God is unknowable therefore he doesn’t exist” is backward and tragic.

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1) And besides, His attributes do exist and can be conceptualized, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” (Rom 1:20)

You cannot intellectualize God. But you can conceptualize sin. Sin is what keeps us from heaven and is exactly the thing that we need to recognize before coming to a saving relationship with Jesus and subsequent baptism. Sin is something that we see, hear, feel, smell, and touch. It is present, evident, and real. It not only can be conceptualized, it is personal and is the biggest problem in a person’s life. Until and unless a person recognizes his own sin as a rebellion against a Holy God, no amount of water will save them, and no amount of hair drying will either.

Do these people actually think that a hair dryer would reverse the promises of eternal life made by God upon submission to Him in baptism? Really? They must be out of their free thinking minds if they think one iota of an act they perform could or would neutralize anything God has done. But that’s exactly why they go for de-baptism, because to them, baptism is an act of man, it’s man telling God what to do with their gift to Him of being baptized. Instead, to a saved Christian, it is a sacred ordinance and a demonstration of obedient submission to a sovereign and powerful God. But to atheists, baptism centers around themselves, therefore de-baptism centers around themselves. Therefore both acts are null.

The tragedy is that their actions will have a devastating effect on their lives, and I am talking about their lives for all eternity. Life doesn’t end at death. Rejecting God in this outward fashion only pushes these misguided and deceived people further into the lying arms of satan. Satan loves to get people to believe that God does not exist. He loves to tell people that baptism is not anything important. He loves to let people think that when you die, your life ends. It doesn’t. God is real, and He loves each and every person on the earth and every person whoever lived. If you are not with God, you are against him, meaning, with satan. There is no middle ground. Every person going under the hair dryer is actually deluded by the greatest liar that ever lived. Fortunately, since the hair dryer is only a hair dryer, there is always a chance for every person to come out from under the lying influence of satan and walk in the Light with Jesus. As long as you draw breath there is a chance for you to be saved. Stop conceptualizing, and start believing! And if or when they get saved and become born again, the baptism pool will be filled for them, and joy at their submission to Jesus will be sung from one end of heaven to another.

Guy photographs end of the rainbow

The UK Mirror published this one earlier in July, and made me laugh with delight:

There have been a lot of rainbows lately at the Arctic Circle. Spaceweather.com reports today, “For the past couple of months, sky watchers above the Arctic Circle say they’ve had trouble seeing the Northern Lights. What’s the problem? Apparently, rainbows are getting in the way:

“This bright and beautiful rainbow appeared last night around 00:15 am,” says photographer Therese van Nieuwenhoven of Laukvik, Norway. “It was caused by the midnight sun shining into a rain shower.” Normally, midnight is the time for the aurora borealis, but with the Arctic summer sun on one side of the sky and rainbows on the other, Northern Lights don’t stand a chance. This is how it will be until the sun sets in August.”

Beautiful, aren’t they!? The rainbow is a covenant and a promise from God to His people. In Genesis 9, God said to Noah after the Flood,

“God said, “This is the sign of the covenant which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all successive generations; I set My bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a sign of a covenant between Me and the earth. “It shall come about, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow will be seen in the cloud, and I will remember My covenant, which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and never again shall the water become a flood to destroy all flesh.” (Genesis 9:12-15)

When you see beautiful things like these rainbows and other natural delights, remember that God created all the world and He will renew it for His people after the Tribulation. It will be beautiful beyond imagining. Also remember that His promises are true and perfect. He will return for us, that promise is also sure … He is sitting inside a rainbow right now: “And He who was sitting was like a jasper stone and a sardius in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, like an emerald in appearance.” (Rev 4:3)

“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.” (Romans 1:20) His wonders to behold!

We are NOT the ones we have been waiting for…

Christians are waiting for the return of Jesus. The unsaved are waiting for … themselves?

You might remember a famous line in one of Obama’s thousands of speeches. This one was from February of 2008 in Chicago during the 2008 Presidential campaign.

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person…or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”

Kind of takes on new meaning now doesn’t it? But did you know that the famous line he delivered was really a Hopi proverb?

This is the last few lines from a Hopi Prophecy and Message from ‘The Elders Oraibi Arizona Hopi Nation‘:
The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves!
Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary.
All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.
We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.

Obama ripped the line off. So two years on, now that the waiting is over, are we all we’re cracked up to be? Was the wait worth it? No? Lol. Well, these New Age folks are still waiting. They are hoping that the arrival of themselves will occur at the Conscious Convergence beginning today:

“We are, like the Hopi have said, the ones we have been waiting for! We are it.”
Or this person:
It is time to wake up to the realization that something outside of ourselves is not going to take care of or make something happen. We are the ones.”

Well they are wrong. Something (someONE, rather) is going to make something happen. And that something is judgment, punishment for refusing Him, His Word, His Son, His truth that He is supreme. Christians who are waiting for Him will receive a crown. Unbelievers who are waiting for themselves to arrive will discover that eternity of waiting is a very long time. It is written:

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5)
“Converge” away, but you do so in unconsciousness of what you are doing and allowing into our mind! And at risk of our soul, forever. Turn from the self to look upon the Holy One who forgives, Who is patient! Who loves with a depth that no man can understand! He is Holy and Just, and for the saved, He is Mercy and Grace! As long as you are alive and drawing breath you can still accept that Jesus is the One you have been waiting for!

Another sinkhole: apartment complex’s garage in NJ collapses

The spate of sinkholes around the world continues pace. I reported on the one in Tampa, and previously, China, TN, and Canada, among others. As I said in the previous article about sinkholes, there is nothing more disconcerting than the very ground under your feel giving way. It is the one thing you’re supposed to be able to trust in, the ground, right? And maybe gravity as well, though we discover this week that gravity isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. The birth pangs that characterize the end time are God-induced events designed to grab our attention, and to convict us to repent, which means turn away from our sinful ways and turn TO Him. It also means understanding that Jesus is all you need to trust. Trust Him and Him alone. The ground may collapse under you, but He is the solid rock upon which you stand, all others will fall into sinking sand. You will not.

This morning, an apartment building’s garage in New Jersey collapsed, “The canopy over the front entrance, the driveway and even trees disappeared into what Baldo describes as a massive sinkhole. Chopper video captured some serious damage in the area.”

In this article about it, a witness said, “Usually you can see the roof when you walk down the block, now there’s nothing,” Pascual said, of the front of the structure. “There were firetrucks, ambulances, fire chiefs, helicopters, pretty much every Hackensack official you could name- they were there.” Reports from the scene shows the front metal and glass canopy that covered the driveway and entrance collapsed and pulled away from the 18-story structure, according to MyFoxNY.com

Washington DC, God calling. It’s for you

If you have a friend who loves you dearly and frequently calls you, do you let them talk and stay silent the whole time? No, of course not, you reply. How rude it would be to ignore the caller!

Well, God is calling, and it’s for us. He spoke again in sending an earthquake to Washington DC this morning. It was the largest-ever recorded quake in that location, and in my mind, it is no coincidence that it occurred there, and at this time.

The US has been pressuring Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to give away land in Jerusalem and to allow a two-state solution, which involves dividing God’s city. God said not to do this, not to give away any part of the Beautiful Land, and He will judge those who do it. (Joel 3:2)

So it’s not enough to say, ‘well, there was an earthquake and that is God speaking.’ How does one reply? HOW do we repent?

Let’s say that there is someone in Washington DC who is listening to God, reading this, or other Christian pieces that call for immediate repentance. Perhaps that person wants to embark a proper course of action, respond appropriately. What should they do?

For that answer we turn to the bible. Jonah preached to the people in the city of Nineveh, saying that God had had enough and within 40 days the city would be overthrown. Now hang on, you might say, that was in the days when Prophets received Word directly from God, we don’t have that advantage now. Oh, yes we do. Jesus is the last prophet and He speaks to us in His book, the bible, and He speaks by the strength of the Holy Spirit through obedient Christians responding to who understand the Word and repeat His messages.

The first thing was that the people of Nineveh took immediate and demonstrable action. “Then the people of Nineveh believed in God; and they called a fast and put on sackcloth from the greatest to the least of them.” (Jonah 3:5). First they believed, then they fasted, which means denying yourself something that is necessary for you to live, because “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'” (Matthew 4:4) and third, they put on sackcloth.

If you want to make a response today to the DC quake, sackcloth is admittedly hard to find though a burlap sack will do. What it actually means is to humble yourself in dress. That’s what today’s version of putting on sackcloth is. Dress without regard to personal adornment, or in ways that draw attention to yourself, but dress in ways that draw attention away from yourself and are an expression of faith in God and not faith in worldly things.

Next, the king took action. “When the word reached the king of Nineveh, he arose from his throne, laid aside his robe from him, covered himself with sackcloth and sat on the ashes.” (Jonah 3:6) He also humbled himself. He laid aside the things which marked him as exalted, and went low in humility before a mighty God. Power-brokers, today’s version in making a response in this conversation with God would be to leave aside the power tie. Forgo the Armani suit. Put down the Rolex watch, the makeup, and the heels. Humble yourselves in dress, and lay aside the kingly things that make you think it’s an equally shared conversation.

“When God saw their deeds, that they turned from their wicked way, then God relented concerning the calamity which He had declared He would bring upon them. And He did not do it.” (Jonah 3:10)

Next, acknowledge that God is God, and do it publicly. The King of Nineveh didn’t go to an interior room and privately disrobe and humble himself. He did it publicly. Mark 10:33 says “But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.”

Most important is prayer. Acts 8:22 says “Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart.” And we are given direction in Leviticus 26:40 also: “‘But if they will confess their sins and the sins of their fathers—their treachery against me and their hostility toward me,which made me hostile toward them so that I sent them into the land of their enemies—then when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they pay for their sin, I will remember my covenant with Jacob and my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land.” Pray publicly, too. Gather in groups, and pray sincerely and humbly. After the earthquake that devastated Haiti, the Haitians repented publicly and they prayed.

Be broken about your sins, and the sins of the US, and the sins of the world! Be broken-hearted about such rebellion against God. Do not think for a moment that US pressure on Israel to concede land and criticism for building condos inside her own borders, pressure for her to minimize her defenses does not reach the eye of God! He said in Zechariah 2:8, “For this is what the LORD Almighty says: “After he has honored me and has sent me against the nations that have plundered you–for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye” and we know that the apple of the eye is the pupil. If you touch the pupil of a person’s eye, they are going to take action! It’s a personal and hurtful jab.

When the Barbadans endured a series of demonic attacks in their village, they prayed. They understood that in allowing themselves to become lax in their relationship with God, it had allowed demons to step in. “[R]esidents and members of the church walking through the small district singing and praying for almost three hours. … We pray and ask God for deliverance. God sends warnings and then the destruction. This is a wake-up call” said a pastor in the attacked village. So they confessed, they repented, and they prayed.

When God speaks, take immediate and demonstrable action. These actions should first include repentance for sins, humility in dress, denial of self through fasting, prayers offered in sincerity, and appeals to God. THAT’S how to respond to the DC quake.

“Therefore I retract, And I repent in dust and ashes.” (Job 42:6) It is the only proper response.

D.C. rattled by area’s largest recorded earthquake

“There will be earthquakes in diverse places” Luke 21:11

D.C. rattled by area’s largest recorded earthquake

“WASHINGTON — The largest earthquake ever recorded within 30 miles of Washington, D.C., rattled the capital early Friday, waking many residents but causing no reported damage. The quake hit at 5:04 a.m. ET with a magnitude of 3.6, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It was centered near Rockville, Md., the USGS National Earthquake Information Center said. NBC News reported that the quake was felt in the D.C.-area, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Amy Vaughn, a spokesperson for USGS, told WRC-TV that the quake was the largest recorded within 50 kilometers (31 miles) of Washington since a database was created in 1974. The previous record within that time period was a 2.6 magnitude temblor in 1990. “So this is pretty significant for your area,” Vaughn told WRC-TV.”

“Gloria Jackson, a police communications supervisor for the Montgomery County Police Department, said the department has received numerous calls about the earthquake, but that no injuries or significant property damage had been reported as of 5:35 a.m. ET. NBC News correspondent Jim Miklaszewski said he felt the quake for about 10 seconds at his Maryland home, which is located about 25 miles north of the capital.
“It started as a low audible rumble that built to a crescendo and shook the house and rattled the windows,” he added. NBC News colleague Tom Costello told TODAY that the quake reminded him of a “massive freight train” passing by.”

‘Holy cow!’ “Thousands of messages were posted to social networking website Twitter following the quake, with many people expressing surprise but not reporting any adverse effects. One Twitter user, @stevebuttry, wrote: “Quake didn’t disturb any of the tiny items in @mimijohnson’s shadow box, which can fall if you slam the door. Not that I ever do that.” Another, @olli85olli, wrote: “Holy cow … earthquake! 3.7 on the Richter scale. Nothing in comparison to others, but this is new for us in Maryland/VA.” Citing the USGS, NBC News reported that there had never been an earthquake centered within the District of Columbia itself.”

If the voters can’t wake them up, maybe an earthquake will. I hope they take the message to heart that greed, corruption, Godlessness, and craven personal ambition at the expense of a nation is not God’s best. In Luke 21:11 Jesus said there would be earthquakes in diverse places as a signal and a warning of the end time. Are we listening? Earthquakes are a signature of God and part of the vocabulary He uses to speak with His people. He uses earthquakes to warn, punish, and show His power. More on that here.

They undestand an earthquake occurred, but how many will translate that Language of God into a action? Or how many will simply say “plates moved and the earth shook”? How many instead will say, “We need to stop pressuring Netanyahu to divide Jerusalem”, or “We need to use our  power and might for God-honoring purposes”  or “We need to set aside some of our wealth to help the less fortunate.” Few, if none. Pray that the event turns some hearts toward God and that further the hearts seek after God-honoring actions that will please Him!

End times winding down, Tribulation soon, I think!

What came first, chicken or egg? Creationists say chicken. Scientists say…

Chicken!

For many philosophers the question “What came first, the chicken or the egg?” it is the ultimate conundrum. The answer is not known, they suppose, because it is a case of circular cause and consequence. Questions like that are impossible to answer because the consequence of the phenomenon is claimed to be its root cause. The same thing exists in science and engineering in which a parameter is required to calculate that parameter itself. Can’t happen, right? Wrong.

The creation of the world was not a scientific event, it was a supernatural event. God created it out of His mind and His power and His voice. Who can quantify that? But creationists know that the chicken came first. (Gen 1:20-21). Day 5. End of discussion.

(Above, Illustration from Tacuina sanitatis, Fourteenth century)

But that was not the end of discussion for generations of scientists who deny the bible and seek man-satisfactory answers. Well, they found their answer, and the answer is…the chicken! Circular, isn’t it?

The chicken came first, scientists prove
“But now they believe they have cracked the conundrum of what came first: the chicken or the egg. British researchers say the chicken must have come first as the formation of eggs is only possible thanks to a protein found in the chicken’s ovaries. ‘It had long been suspected that the egg came first but now we have the scientific proof that shows that in fact the chicken came first,’ said Dr Colin Freeman, from Sheffield University, who worked with counterparts at Warwick University.”

It’s nice when people seek knowledge about our world through science, but God does not need scientists to prove or disprove Him. He exists and He is sovereign, even over the ‘natural laws’ that scientists say govern the world. After all, He appeared through walls, particulate matter being of no consequence to Him. He walked on water, gravity being of no consequence to him. He fermented wine, time having no consequence to Him. And the best part of all is that His believers will be the same as Him after we are raptured/resurrected. We also will be able to travel through hyper-dimensions, walk on water, appear at will here and there. In the crowning gift of the Supreme God to His people, and in a final incidence of circular cause and consequence, creationists will be the ultimate scientists, knowing the answers to all things, having the power to explore universes, and a possessing mind capable of understanding it. The real answer to what came first is not that the chicken and the egg came first, but that God came first. He is also last. He is the first and the last, the Alpha and the Omega, and He created a universe with man in it, and set us free to explore  the tiny questions of the day like chickens and eggs, as well as large ones, like “How much does He love me?” Answer: a LOT!

Things that make me go hmmm…

In the transcript of the Press Briefing with National Incident Commander Admiral Thad Allen July 13, 2010 regarding the BP efforts to contain the cap and squelch the oil flow, he said:

We just finished a seismic run through the field. About a 2.5 kilometer run basically from north to south with what we call the (inaudible) carrying very sophisticated acoustical sensors. That is intended to give us a baseline from which we can detect any anomalies after we do the well integrity test regarding anything that might happen with the sea floor or the formation moving ahead.[emphasis mine]

Yes it is always good to make sure the SEA FLOOR is stable enough to money around with putting different pressures on it, elsewhere… His statement reassuring the listeners and viewers coming on the heels of an abrupt cessation of well-capping is troublesome. To say the least. The Gainesville Sun noted, Government questions whether cap will make BP oil spill worse, and Rep Markey (D-MA) flat out said BP Stonewalling on Wellbore Integrity, Sea Floor Leaks. Yes, Rep Markey, we’re all wondering that.

Petra, Jordan, and God’s Mighty Love

Jordan and Israel’s relationship during the Tribulation is an interesting one. In researching the facts behind the Arab League for yesterday’s post, I learned that Egypt and Jordan are the only two Arab nations to have normalized relations with Israel. Jordan’s peace treaty with Israel was signed in 1994 with President Bill Clinton as mediator, between Hussein I of Jordan and Yitzhak Rabin of Israel. King Hussein, of the Hashemite dynasty, died in 1999, and his designated son King Abdullah II became King. King Hussein had guided his country through the Cold War and four decades of Arab-Israeli conflict, balancing the pressures of Arab nationalism and the allure of Western-style development against the stark reality of Jordan’s geographic location. He worked throughout his life to advance the cause of peace between Jordan and Israel (which he successfully achieved in 1994. (Wikipedia). Above, Petra, the Rose-red city. That peace will be broken, and soon.

Between 1999 and 2009 relations between Israel and Jordan have maintained the same level of respect and courtesy. However, that has to change, because Jordan is listed among the nations that attack Israel during the Psalm 83 war.

“With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you- the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites, Gebal, Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the people of Tyre. Even Assyria has to lend strength to the descendants of Lot.” (Psalm 83:5-8). Edom, Moab and Ammon are today’s Jordan. Ammon is the capital.

Yet…Jordan is one place the antichrist is not able to overcome. “He will also invade the Beautiful Land. Many countries will fall, but Edom, Moab and the leaders of Ammon will be delivered from his hand.” (Daniel 11:41)

And…Petra in Jordan is the place the Jews flee to when the antichrist begins his persecution, and it is where they remain in safety, protected by God during the Great Tribulation and led out by Him to Jerusalem at the conclusion of the Day of the LORD. (Isaiah 63:1-6). Here is an excellent, scriptural basis for the supposition that Petra/Bozrah/Sela in Jordan is the place to which the Jews flee and are sheltered, I recommend it. “Then the woman fled into the wilderness where she had a place prepared by God, so that there she would be nourished for one thousand two hundred and sixty days.” (Rev 12:6) “But the two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, so that she could fly the wilderness to her place, where she was nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.” (Rev 12:14)

So it appears that though peace has held between Israel and Jordan for over a decade, something will change to cause Jordan to pile on in the Psalm 83 war and attack Israel. However, Jordan will remain intact enough so that the antichrist will not overcome her.

Whatever that “something” is to change Jordan’s mind about Israel, it is happening now. These are but a few of the headlines from the last two months and are an indication that Jordan is becoming impatient with Israel:
King of Jordan accuses Israel of ‘underhand’ plot to thwart nuclear project.
King Abdullah accuses Israel of blocking Jordan nuclear bid
Report: Jordan queen rejects Hebrew translation of book

I thought that last one was interesting: Queen Rania of Jordan wrote a children’s book which is a bestseller, was translated into Arabic and English, proceeds of which are being used to renovate 500 Jordanian schools. However, she refuses to allow a translation into Hebrew, even though further sales will help children.

Obama and King Abdullah of Jordan are pushing Israel to accept a two-state solution, which would create a Palestinian State and divide Jerusalem. East Jerusalem would become the capital of this newly created Palestinian State. When you hear of the “two-state solution” that is what it means: dividing Jerusalem. God has something to say about that:

“I will gather all the nations And bring them down to the valley of Jehoshaphat. Then I will enter into judgment with them there On behalf of My people and My inheritance, Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; And they have divided up My land.” (Joel 3:2)

A couple of further points before I reach my conclusion: Jordan’s full name is the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Hashemites trace their ancestry from Hashim ibn Abd al-Manaf (died c. 510 AD), the great-grandfather of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. The early history of the Hashemites saw them in a continuous struggle against the Umayyads for control over who would be the caliph (successor) to Muhammad. The Umayyads were of the same tribe as the Hashemites, but a different clan. This rivalry eventually would lead to the split between the Sunni and Shia. (Wikipedia). And we see the tension between the ever-widening split beteen Sunni and Shia Muslims today.

It is interesting to note that the Kings of Jordan claim direct ancestry to Muhammad. I speculate that this may be one reason that Jordan escapes the antichrist’s domination: he may not even try, if he is a Muslim as many suspect he will be. It also may be why the “Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan” commands so much respect in the Arab world. Today Hashemites have spread in many places where Muslims have ruled, namely Uzbekistan, India, Pakistan, Turkey, and Iran. Above, the cleft in the rock to Petra, at places only 9-12 feet wide.

The second curious thing before conclusion is that Petra is also known as Sela, which means rock. It is referred to in Judges 1:36; Isaiah 16:1, Is 42:11; Obad. 3 where Petra is known as the “cleft in the rock”.  Petra is also known as Bozrah, which means sheepfold. Sheepfold or sheep pen is an enclosure designed with overhangs or other protection from the elements, and is solid enough to keep the sheep in and the wild animals out. It always has one narrow gate for entry. Bozrah is the perfect sheepfold! Our Shepherd Jesus will protect His remnant during the Great Tribulation at Bozrah, the sheepfold, the Cleft in the Rock. It is there He returns at the Second Coming and becomes stained with blood of the armies attempting to wipe out the remnant, and leads them to victory at Mt. Olive.

God’s Vengeance on the Nations
Who is this who comes from Edom,
With garments of glowing colors from Bozrah,
This One who is majestic in His apparel,
Marching in the greatness of His strength?
“It is I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.”
Why is Your apparel red,
And Your garments like the one who treads in the wine press?
“I have trodden the wine trough alone,
And from the peoples there was no man with Me
I also trod them in My anger
And trampled them in My wrath;
And their lifeblood is sprinkled on My garments,
And I stained all My raiment. (Isaiah 63:1-3)

Finally, back at the beginning of this entry, I noted that one of the verses said of the Jews during the Great Tribulation that “Then the woman fled into the wilderness where she had a place prepared by God.” (Rev 12:6) In John 14:3 He promised His church that “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am”. All this time He has been preparing a place for the church believers. He also had prepared a place for His people, the Jews, to reside at Bozrah in protection and safety. He is a God who cares for His people, He prepares places for us. For US! And that is a mighty thing indeed. Hallelujah to the One True and Mighty God, who prepares for us a place!

Sinkhole in Tampa swallows car, forces evacuation of 11 families

Now this is something you don’t see every day. Or, lately, I think it IS something you see everyday. I’ve been reporting about the changes on and in the earth as evidenced by unexpected sinkholes, mine collapses, mud eruptions, explosions and cracks in the earth. Isaiah prophesies that at the last days the earth will crack up. Prior to that, the geo-landforms on top of the earth and underneath it will undergo catastrophic changes. Islands will sink. Mountains will collapse. It has been my opinion that these events as birth pangs are increasing in advance of the tribulation, making themselves more and more known, as birth pangs do. The earth as we see it will be modified.

Sinkholes are one symptom of a restless earth. This week in Tampa a sinkhole suddenly opened up, swallowing a car. The hole is 20-foot-wide, and 10-foot-deep. The hole continues to grow, say officials.

As for that famous sinkhole which had appeared in Guatemala in June, it’s still baffling geologists, not to mention City Planners. “Geologists baffled by what to do with giant Guatemala sinkhole, “Simply filling the hole won’t help, says Mr. Kasmarek, without first studying the geological makeup of the surrounding area to determine the underlying factors that caused the collapse.” This is a link to amazing photos of the Guatemala hole.

Biblically, we know that the earth veritably heaves and shifts during the Tribulation. Even during the lead-in of the end times we are told that there will be earthquakes. In SoCal, the recent earthquake has caused increased pressure, not lessened it. “Southern California faults are feeling the pressure Seismologists are increasingly concerned that the 7.2 Mexicali temblor on April 4 placed more pressure on faults around the Southland, resulting in increased quake activity over the last three months.” The Easter Sunday quake shifted the earth three feet. A mile-long crack appeared in the ground in nearby Mexico. Too many weird crustal changes are happening during the exact time Jesus said to watch for the birth pangs for us to ignore.

Spiritually, there is nothing more disconcerting than the very ground we walk on and trust giving way. If you can’t trust the ground you walk on, what can you trust? Jesus. Part of the intent of the end time is to shake us out of complacency, and show us in undeniable terms that the only thing we can and should trust is Jesus. Psalm 18:2 says “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” When the very earth gives way under our feet, Jesus is the stronghold. He is the most solid ground on which we can ever hope to stand, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. “And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.” (Matthew 7:25) Is your life founded on that rock? Is your trust on that rock? Or do you go your own way and place trust in jobs, bank accounts, parents, vehicles, retirement, physical strength, intellect? Those are important but they are gifts from Jesus, Who is the rock from which all else flows. Place your trust in Him today, even if you are spiritually at the bottom of a sinkhole. He will lift you out.

On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand!
