What a watchman’s prophetic ministry does

This is a post about what a prophetic ministry does. Watchmen on the wall (Is 62:6) don’t only tell the news. They don’t only ring the end-is-near-repent bell. The Lord uses these ministries to complete a process in hearers’ hearts. It isn’t only a cognitive absorbing of news, but a spiritual changing of hearts.

Paul uses analogies quite often and one of his favorites is the race:

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2 Timothy 4:7).

“Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.” (1 Corinthians 9:25).

“You were running a good race. Who cut in on you and kept you from obeying the truth?” (Galatians 5:7).

The Church Age is a marathon. A marathon is a 26-mile race. Initially there is a burst at the starting gate, runners quickly jogging away in an explosion of energy. The Church started quickly, like marathoners at the gun.

Then there is the long middle part. Runners get tired. Some stumble, but they get up. Others drop out. The pace is plodding, not a lot of energy is expended. Runners look at the crowd, the birds, their shoes, becoming unfocused. They get complacent.

But then suddenly they round a bend and they see that finish line tape up ahead. Suddenly their focus zaps back to the task at hand- fully and completely. They run full throttle, the tiredness leaving their legs and adrenaline kicking in. People are on the sidelines cheering and the crowds swell with energy. There is joy in seeing it and arms start to reach out.

Prophecy is the finish line tape. The watchmen are close to the finish line  shouting and clapping and encouraging and pleading with them to keep running the race. Meanwhile, the Holy Spirit quickens their pace, opens their eyes, gives them energy. And the Lord changes hearts.

Here is what a watchman does: “Isaiah 62:6 I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence,” (Isaiah 62:6)

Here is the effect of what a watchman does: See, as you begin to think about the immediacy of prophetic fulfillments, The Holy Spirit changes your thinking. It changes your heart. Suddenly your priorities are different. You feel more urgency, have more focus on your Christian walk. Watchmen who exhort put these seeds in your mind and heart and the Holy Spirit revives you by showing you that the end of the race is near. You feel a deepening sense of burden for the lost world while at the same time a lessening of hanging on to it.

What you can do: Ask the Spirit to give you discernment, an ability to distinguish truth from error. Diligent study in the Word is the mechanism for growing discernment, because the bible is All-Truth. Once you know truth more solidly the Spirit will lead you to discerning untruth when you come across it. You will then feel stronger in standing on your foundation as the rest of the world tips crazily.

“The period of man’s day is ending, the period of God’s day is coming. But in light of the fact that we are soon to be taken to be with Christ and that will initiate the day of the Lord in which the ungodly will be destroyed and damned forever. It is time to get your priorities right. It’s time to wake up. This is no time to be slumbering and sleeping. This is a time for alertness. The same Jesus who is taken up from you, the angel said, shall so come in like manner as you’ve seen Him go. In other words, you’ve got to live in the light of the return of Jesus Christ.” It’s time to wake up.”

Photography is not a crime. Or maybe it is

Have you noticed the increase in arrests for taking pictures? I have. These incidents are everywhere in the US now, in different venues, at different times of the day, for different reasons, and among different people, by different law enforcers. One thing remains the same: private citizens are getting arrested for merely snapping a photo of law enforcement. Here are four examples, representing different venues in which the “criminal” was arrested. These four examples are progressive, in that the place of arrest goes from public to private. Nowadays it seems it doesn’t matter where you are, if you are recording or photographing law enforcement from any distance, you could be arrested.

“At a Wednesday meeting of the D.C. Taxicab Commission (DCTC), two journalists were arrested by Park Police for taking photos at the public meeting. Pete Tucker, who writes for TheFightBack.org, showed up to the meeting, held at the Park Police headquarters, to document a proposal to implement a new medallion system. During the first hour of the meeting, a taxi inspector approached Tucker and told him that he couldn’t take photographs of commission members seated at the front of the room. Tucker snapped a photo of the inspector. According to his account, two Park Police officers approached him, and one said, “You can come with me or you can get locked up.” He responded that he was merely documenting a public meeting.”

The reporter was led from the room in handcuffs.

Deemed a “security risk” for photographing nametag of rude employee
“A Miami photographer was escorted off a US Airways plane and deemed a “security risk” after she snapped a photo of an employee’s nametag at Philadelphia International Airport Friday. Sandy DeWitt said the employee, whose name was Tonialla G., was being rude to several passengers in the boarding area of the flight to Miami. So DeWitt snapped a photo of her nametag with her iPhone because she planned to complain about her in a letter to US Airways. But the photo didn’t come out because it was too dark. However, once DeWitt was settled in her seat, preparing for take-off, Tonialla G. entered the plane and confronted her. “She told me to delete the photo,” DeWitt said in an interview with Photography is Not a Crime Saturday morning. DeWitt, who already had her phone turned off in preparation for take-off, turned the phone back on to show her that it didn’t come out, but deleted the photo anyway. “I complied with her wishes but it’s not something I would normally do,” she said. “It just wasn’t usable.” But Tonialla G. wouldn’t let the issue go. She then walked into the cockpit to inform the pilot that DeWitt was a “security risk.” “

An update later said that the passenger was escorted off because she used profanity.

“Rochester activist Emily Good says she had no idea she would set off a firestorm when she stood on her lawn videotaping a police traffic stop on May12. She never expected to be arrested, handcuffed for nearly an hour, or taken to jail in her pajamas, either. “It was outrageous and I still kind of don’t believe it. This is still a little bit of numbing shock, this entire situation.” A video of that night’s events in front of Good’s house on Aldine Street shows Good not obeying Rochester police Officer Mario Masic’s commands to go inside her home. “I felt like that was an unreasonable order, and I stood in my yard and I said: ‘This is my yard,’ and I tried to understand what he wanted because I felt like going inside my house was unreasonable, and it just escalated very quickly.”

So she stood in her own yard, videotaping the police who were dealing with a traffic stop at a neighbor’s house. They told her to go inside, and arrested her when she didn’t and kept recording.

“Massachusetts state police arrested a 65-year-old woman who was standing on her property photographing the damage after a car had come crashing through her yard and into her driveway late Sunday night. Judith Davis-Scott, the West Elm Street homeowner in whose backyard the car crashed, said she was handcuffed and arrested at her house after police took away her Nikon camera as she was taking pictures of the damage to her backyard. “I told them this is my property and I have a right to take pictures on my property,” said Davis-Scott, an optician. Her husband, Michael Scott, a disabled veteran, sat on his back porch on Monday, and shook his head when speaking of the night before and of his wife’s arrest. “This is ridiculous,” Scott said, his eyes filling with tears. “You try to live a decent life and this is what you get. It’s upsetting.”

“Judith Davis-Scott, the West Elm Street homeowner in whose backyard the car crashed, said she was handcuffed and arrested at her house after police took away her Nikon camera as she was taking pictures of the damage to her backyard. Davis-Scott was charged with interfering with police and disorderly conduct. She said she spent the night in a jail cell at the Brockton Police Department and was released on $40 bail. Monday morning, she showed media crews bruises on her arms that she said resulted after a state police officer grabbed her and handcuffed her. “I told them this is my property and I have a right to take pictures on my property,” said Davis-Scott, an optician. She said the state police officer “grabbed me and dragged me up the stairs and he pushed me into the house.”

In the first incident, media representatives attending a public meeting were arrested for taking pictures. In the second incident, Airline employees used their authority to detain a passenger deemed a “security risk.” The risk was never defined. In the third and fourth incidents, the events occurred on private property. The Massachusetts homeowner was on her own property taking video of an incident next door, and in the last one, the homeowner was on her OWN property taking pictures of something that happened on her OWN property.

We see that the authorities in each case varied from Government Airline officials, Park Police, State Police, and Local police. I chose these four because they are emblematic of the different places where people are increasingly denied a right to scrutinize public servants engaged in their business; meetings, security areas, and police stops. In each of the four, the kind of public servant varies. It cannot be said that it is always a belligerent citizen, or always a certain kind of law enforcement official, or always in one certain city. These happened in NY, Mass., Philly, and DC.

The fact is, as things become more authoritarian, there is less tolerance for scrutiny. There is less need to accede to citizen vigilance and more desire to shut them out. As the wheels of civil law become eroded there is more ease in abusing the power that has been delivered to it.

This fact should not surprise us. It is written in 2 Timothy 3:2-4 that in the last days, “People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.” Do not suppose that the “unloving” and “brutal” applies only to private citizens. It applies to all people. Those in power in a world where the Holy Spirit no longer restrains will be more than ever compelled to allow their carnal brutality to unleash. If they have some power and a gun, then all the more dangerous.

In Matthew 24:12 we are warned that “Love will grow cold.” If you look up the Greek word for “cold” it means: “spiritual energy blighted or chilled by a malign or poisonous wind.” It give me chills just to read that, never mind live it!

Prior to the Flood, we were warned that there is a set time period for His longsuffering and then when the time is up, the Spirit will be removed and judgment rendered. (Gen 6:3- “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever” Greek translation of strive: administer, govern). When the Holy Spirit Restrainer is removed then the perilous times shall indeed begin. Without restraint, the conditions will shortly revert to what they were in the Days of Noah, as Jesus said in Matthew 24:37. What were those days like? “Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” (Genesis 6:5) EVERY intent was ONLY evil, CONTINUALLY. That is 100% saturation, folks!

Crime rates are up. Jails are opened to let out the ‘milder’ criminals because we cannot afford to keep them. Yet retired housewives are arrested while their disabled Military veteran husbands sit on the porch and cry for a country we no longer recognize.

Satan is such a copycat!

Remember the kid on the playground that used to bug you (or your brother/sister) by copying everything you said? Even when you said “Stop copying me!” they’d giggle and say “Stop copying me!” which at that point would usually devolve into a fistfight.

We know satan is a counterfeiter. We know he never had an original idea, except the one where he says he will exalt himself above God. (Isaiah 14:13-14). It may help to see through scripture exactly the difference in language where God IS and satan copies.

In Daniel 2:21a God changes times and seasons. Just like that. “He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them.”

The antichrist will SEEK to change times and seasons. (Dan 7:25). In other translations it says he will think to change them, or he will try to change them. “He will speak against the Most High and oppress his saints and try to change the set times and the laws. The saints will be handed over to him for a time, times and half a time.” You notice here that Jesus HAS complete authority, and He DOES the act. The antichrist/satan is given some authority, he TRIES to do the act.

Jesus IS resurrected in Matthew 28:6, “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.”

Antichrist SEEMS to be resurrected- Rev 13:3, “I saw one of his heads as if it had been slain, and his fatal wound was healed. And the whole earth was amazed and followed after the beast;”

Jesus DOES miracles. Mark 1:21-28: “Then they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and taught. And they were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out,  saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!” But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!”  And when the unclean spirit had convulsed him and cried out with a loud voice, he came out of him. Then they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? What new doctrine is this? For with authority He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.” And immediately His fame spread throughout all the region around Galilee.”

Antichrist/satan seem to do miracles 2 Thess 2:9, “The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders,” such as this one in Revelation 13:13-14a: “He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast…” so the only miracles he does are those he has been granted power to do and  in limited scope, at that, ‘within the sight of the beast.’

God gives the breath of life, Genesis 2:7- “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”

The antichrist/satan are only granted power to seem to give breath of life and only to an image, not a person, at that: “He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.” (Rev 13:15)

Satan is of the vine of the earth (Rev. 14:19) but Jesus is the true vine from heaven. (John 15:1-2).

In summary, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.” (Romans 1:20). God’s power is eternal, it has been seen to be so from the beginning. His eternal power is inside you. “You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4).

Satan is false. He only copies. Anything copied is not real. Make sure you remember where the real power comes from, Jesus. Tap into His power through prayer and bible study, witness and a straight walk. Repent often, love much, and grow strong as fruit of the True Vine. The harvest is coming.

Stunning rare earth deposits found off Japan, crumbling China’s monopoly

A stunning discovery has been made. Reuters reported this week that “Vast deposits of rare earth minerals, crucial in making high-tech electronics products, have been found on the floor of the Pacific Ocean and can be readily extracted, Japanese scientists said on Monday.”

I’m continually stunned at the rolling-out of the unexpected in these end of days. Just as political supremacy has been indicated in one country or another, it suddenly falls. Just as Russia eyed oil supremacy, Israel has become the world’s potentially richest nation in natural gas, oil shale, and oil in the last 18 months, going from an importer to a self-sufficient exporter. Israel is on the cusp of an energy revolution, causing jealousy in Russia. And now this: rare earths, tumbling China from its supreme position to a mere paltry contender.

Let me explain what has been going on in rare earths since the mid 1990s.

China’s rise in economic power allowed that nation to corner the market in rare earth metals. They literally have a monopoly. By now, the US relies almost completely on a supply of these obscure but critical minerals from China and this fact spooked us big time. This was by China’s design: they deliberately set out to corner the market on rare earth minerals. What happens when rare-earths become scarce? The Chinese have spent the last 25 years amassing them and then in the mid 2000’s they turned the spigot down, causing scarcity.

What are rare earth metals? Most people define them as including the following 17 metals: Cerium Dysprosium Erbium Europium Gadolinium Holmium Lanthanum Lutetium Neodymium Praseodymium Promethium Samarium Scandium Terbium Thulium Ytterbium Yttrium. These rare earth metals are in just about everything that makes current civilization function.

 “Here’s why you should care about them: By the 21st century, rare earths had become essential to global commerce. Take a look around you. There are probably plenty of things that depend on them. Rare earths are used in permanent magnets, which are integral to modern electronics and green technologies. They’re in iPhones, earbuds, cell phones and hard drives. Their use is not exactly new: they were in cathode tube televisions, although they are now in flat screens too. They’re in electric automobile windows, MRI machines, and compact fluorescent bulbs. A Toyota Prius contains at least two pounds of them. Each advanced wind turbine has roughly 660 pounds of the soft silvery metal neodymium. They are also used in guided missiles and other weapons systems. As recently as the 1990s, the world had a geographically diversified supply of rare earth minerals. China produced a lot, but the United States, Brazil, India and Russia also had active mines. However, as getting rich became increasingly glorious, the Chinese smelled an opportunity. In 1992, paramount leader Deng Xiaoping reportedly pronounced China to be the Saudi Arabia of rare earths, reflecting the geologic fact that his country is unusually rich in them. Deng also noted that, given their importance, rare earths are wildly cheap. China began to close the spigot on its supply — adding tariffs and slowly tightening export quotas. As the world became increasingly dependent on rare earths, China had quietly cornered the market and created a shortage. Some analysts believe that 2010 will be the first year when global demand exceeds supply.” And China was sitting on that mountain, gloating.

Now they gloat no more.

The Reuters article about the new rare earths discoveries continues: “The deposits have a heavy concentration of rare earths. Just 0.4 square mile of deposits will be able to provide one-fifth of the current global annual consumption,” said Yasuhiro Kato, an associate professor of earth science at the University of Tokyo. [WOW!!!] The discovery was made by a team led by Kato and including researchers from the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology. They found the minerals in sea mud extracted from depths of 11,500-20,000 ft below the ocean surface at 78 locations. One-third of the sites yielded rich contents of rare earths and the metal yttrium, Kato said in a telephone interview. The deposits are in international waters in an area stretching east and west of Hawaii, as well as east of Tahiti in French Polynesia, he said. He estimated rare earths contained in the deposits amounted to 80 to 100 billion metric tons, compared to global reserves currently confirmed by the U.S. Geological Survey of just 110 million tonnes that have been found mainly in China…”

So suddenly China is out of luck, as this Japanese Business Magazine reports. The “Solution to the rare earth problem could come from the sea” “Huge quantities of rare earth elements exist on the Pacific Ocean floor, researchers say, a development that could end China’s virtual monopoly on the metals but may exacerbate legal wrangling on the high seas. In an encouraging sign for makers of high-tech products that require rare earths from the dwindling supply, the deposits appear to be in seabed conditions that will make it easy to collect and refine them, according to team, which included researchers from the University of Tokyo.”

Everything is increasingly unpredictable. Weather is going crazy. Political ups and downs are surprising. As fast as French Presidential contender Dominique Strauss-Kahn faced sexual assault charges in New York and seemed to lost his bid against Sarkozy, now he is up again. As deliberately as Russia has crafted solidity through pipelines and deals in the oil market within Russia, and in the Baltics and Asia Minor, that supremacy was toppled within 18 months as vast deposits and oil fields were discovered in Israel. Now China’s monopoly in rare earths was lost in one day as rare earth deposits were found near Japan, and easy to reach, too.

In the Tribulation, geo-political shifts and rises and falls of fortunes occur even more quickly and dramatically than they are occurring today. We know that Russia, Iran, Turkey, Armenia, and others attack Israel for “plunder and a spoil”. (Ezekiel 38:13). That great amount of riches they seek could be the treasures Israel has recently discovered under their sand and sea. The ‘Kings of the East‘ collectively march against Israel, and though the Kings are not named, logic deduces that they could be be a united Japan, China, and Korea… and let us not forget India is also east of the Euphrates.

The point is, that nothing is solid except heaven. As we get closer to the Tribulation that solidity will continue to wither. The earth that seems to strong, will crack asunder (Isaiah 24:19). The riches and supremacy one nation has, fall down in one day. (Rev 18:10). The Lord sets up Kings and he takes them down. (Daniel 2:21).

Sorry, China. It seems that Japan won this round. You won’t have long to wait, though, something else is sure to come along in these fast-changing times to change the fortunes of one over the next. As Mark Twain said, “If you don’t like the weather in New England, wait a few minutes,” and in these end of days we can safely modify that saying to: “If you don’t like the world situation, wait a few minutes.”

How long, O Lord?

I had someone ask me recently about the duration of all this. My friend intimated that I’ve been talking about this stuff for almost three years now, when’s it gonna GET here? Sooo, could I be wrong in translating the news of the world in terms of an imminent prophetic event? Am I wrong? Am I promoting an imminence that is false? Let’s take a look at that notion, biblically.

Generally, time has no meaning. Our life is “but a vapor that appears for a little while then vanishes away.” (James 4:14).  I ask, what’s 3 years in the face of eternity future? In the face of 6000 years past? In front of a God to whom a day is a thousand years and a thousand years is as a day? (2 Peter 3:8). He has the full measure of the timing He wants. He waits until the grapes of wrath are fully ripe, even a little overripe, (Rev 15:16). He waits until the entire measure of the iniquity is filled (Gen 15:16). He waits until the full number of Gentiles are come in. (Romans 11:25).

Now, more specifically, in 1948 Israel was born, and that was a huge end times sign. It was a direct Hand of God moment. And by most interpretations the generation who sees that will not pass away before seeing all these things come to pass.(Mt 24:34). No one who is alert and studious can fail to notice the signs. Over these last 3 years the US has fallen from prominence, half the work force is on food stamps, crime is up nationally 41%, homelessness and bankruptcies are a tidal wave upon the banks, which are failing at an exponential number since 2007. Even John MacArthur said this week that America’s judgment must truly be imminent.

Now even more specifically, I referenced the scripture about “peace and security” which is from 1 Thessalonians 5:3. Paul is talking about the period of judgment called The Day of the Lord, and the Second Coming. Here is the verse: “For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.” Now here is the rest of the verse:

“But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober.” Though Paul is talking about the judgment period of the Tribulation, we can back-extrapolate the principle he is explaining, to us at the threshold of that time. Understanding the signs, understanding our position as the generation placed here at Divine will to accomplish His purposes in these last days, understanding that time means nothing, how does the bible say we are supposed to live? As a child of the light, alert and sober! Here is what that means:

Barnes Notes: “But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief – The allusion here is to the manner in which a thief or robber accomplishes his purpose. He comes in the night, when people are asleep. So, says the apostle, the Lord will come to the wicked. They are like those who are asleep when the thief comes upon them. But it is not so with Christians. They are, in relation to the coming of the day of the Lord, as people are who are awake when the robber comes. They could see his approach, and could prepare for it, so that it would not take them by surprise.”

We will not be surprised. Why? We are not asleep! We see His approach. We prepare for it! We who are soulfully injured by blasphemy, evil, iniquity, sin…should and do pray for His appearing. 2 Timothy 4:8 says, “Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” Not only is it right to expect Him to appear any day, any moment, and to live for Him completely as if this moment could be our last to serve him on earth forever, but we receive a crown as a reward for eager anticipation!

First footage of Nabro Volcanic eruption

On June 12, 2011, seismologists around the world were stunned to watch an event unfold that has no precedent in modern history. A series of moderate sized earthquakes with two strong ones  occurred in a circle around the Volcano Nabro along the border of Eritrea and Ethiopia. According to the Global Volcanism Project at the Smithsonian Institute, “The 2218-m-high Nabro stratovolcano is the highest volcano in the Danakil depression of northern Ethiopia and Eritrea.” It is a stratovolcano whose last known eruption has been described as unknown, or never. On June 12, shotly after the earthquakes were reported, ti erupted.

Initially shocked by the thought, the eruption was attributed to nearby Dubbi, which, having four known eruptions would make the activity rare but not unprecedented. However, eagle eyed internet surfers soon found a satellite photo of the ash plum and pin-pointed the eruption to Nabro. This was later confirmed to be the case.

News was slow to emerge from the regions, being so unpopulated. However ti did make news that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton left the region in a hurry because the ash plum was disrupting flights. She had been speaking tot he African Union in neighboring Ethiopia. This week, Nabro erupted again. Below is some news and then the first video footage of the eruptions has finally surfaced. Irish Weather Online posted the footage, which is permeating the web quickly at this moment

“Volcanic activity has increased at the Nabro volcano in Eritrea, just four days after the stratovolcano sent an ash plume more than 15km into the air. The ash drifted westnorthwest over Sudan Thursday evening threatening to bring further disruption to air traffic in the east Africa region. Sunday night’s eruption led to some flight cancellations in neighbouring Sudan, Djibouti and Ethiopia, and saw a massive ash plume being carried as far away as Saudi Arabia, Israel, Turkmenistan, the Central African Republic and Egypt.”

Missouri river flooding and impacts on Ft. Calhoun and Cooper Nuke plants

Yesterday I wrote about Fort Calhoun nuclear power plant in Nebraska, located alongside the flooding Missouri River. At the end of the blog entry I mentioned Cooper Nuclear plant, also in danger. Today the news got a bit worse.

St. Louis Today reports that Monday Brig. Gen. John McMahon, commander of the [Army] corps’ Northwest Division, will travel to Jefferson City from Portland to field some of those concerns, Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, R-St. Elizabeth said yesterday.” What concerns, you wonder? Well, that “flooding along the Missouri River might have been prevented with better planning by the Army Corps of Engineers.”

The flooding is impacting several nuclear power plants, one of which (Cooper) came within inches of being flooded today, and is impacting several dams also. CBS St. Louis called it the “Summer of Suspense” because it won’t be over until late August. CBS wrote:

“Officials on Tuesday will increase releases from five of the river’s dams to 150,000 cubic feet of water per second __ more than twice the previous record releases. As a result, the river will rise 5 to 7 feet above flood stage in most of Nebraska and Iowa before continuing into Missouri, where it may rise 10 feet above flood stage in several places and flow over the top of at least 11 rural levees. The record releases from the dams are expected to continue into August, so the river will remain high all summer, interfering with highway and rail traffic in the region. Parts of Interstate 29 have already been closed, and Union Pacific was re-routing some trains around Omaha. Places in most danger of flooding include the small Iowa towns of Hamburg, Blencoe and Pacific Junction; the Nebraska communities of South Sioux City, Rulo and Plattsmouth; and St. Joseph in Missouri. “I think there’s a 50 percent chance it’s going to be ugly. And there’s a 50 percent chance we’re going to squeak by,” said James Gerweck, the emergency manager in southeast Nebraska’s Richardson County.”

“Record-breaking rains and heavy snow in the basin’s western reaches have filled upstream impoundments to near capacity, forcing the corps to evacuate the waters with dam releases more than double any in history. The record volumes of water that are working their way to the confluence with the Mississippi are scheduled to last into August. Corps officials acknowledged over the weekend that they are failing to keep up despite the releases. Continuing snowmelt and rain is complicating matters and corps officials said on Friday that they are moving more water from two upstream reservoirs into the Fort Randall impoundment in South Dakota, where space had been kept open. More heavy rains are forecast in coming days, prompting Army engineers to warn on Saturday that if weather continues to deteriorate, they will lose their ability to make adjustments between dams and may need to increase releases from Fort Randall and Gavins Point dams.”

The problem is that as water is released upriver the same downriver, which are all flooded, also have to release water. On Pacifica Radio Network, Arnie Gunderson who is a nuclear consultant for Fairewinds Associates, was interviewed about the situation. He said, “sandbags and nuclear power plant really don’t belong in the same sentence and now we are seeing them put sandbags up to reinforce against the flood. … All of the dams upstream are full, they are all opening up their water and letting it cascade down to the next dam and opening up their water and letting it cascade down to the next dam and so on. They were designed for a flood not much worse than this, or else it is going to breach the walls. My concern is, what if a dam breaks? That would be the equivalent to the Fukushima tsunami.”

The CBS St. Louis map above of the river basin shows the Missouri River and also the dams from the beginning to the end. Ft. Calhoun and Cooper plants are in Nebraska, Ft. Calhoun just north of Omaha and Cooper near the southern end toward Auburn and Rock Port.

So what we have now, without things getting worse (and I hope they don’t) is a multi-state flood that is going to last multi-months. Crop land is flowing away, commerce has been interrupted and/or stopped,  railroads have been re-routed, homes destroyed, power plants taken off-line, and businesses sunk. Record upon record of water releases have already been made. We can’t afford to recover from this. If it gets worse, and the flooding IS expected to continue and the plants ARE just inches away from inundation, then things will get exponentially worse.

  • Nuclear plant inches from being totally flooded
  • Damage would be likely to cause energy prices to soar
  • Six to 12 inches of heavy rainfall over the last few weeks
  • Record floods hit 44.4 feet, topping 44.3 feet record set in 1993
  • Levees fail to stem surge of water from rain and melting snow
  • Flooding expected to continue until August
  • Residents begin burning wood to avoid it becoming flood debris
  • Meanwhile, engineers close the Bonnet Carre Spillway near New Orleans

“The National Weather Service said that the six to 12 inches of rainfall in the upper Missouri basin in the past few weeks is nearly a normal year’s worth of rain, while runoff from the mountain snowpack is 140 per cent of average levels.”

These records, crumbling all over the world in ‘natural disaster’ after ‘natural disaster’ are NOT coincidence. The wonderful thing is that we can pray. If you have a relationship with Jesus, and that is what being a Christian means, then you can pray for safety of the people there, or for the nuke plants’ safe operation, or for the rapture. Whatever you would like to pray for, you can pray. He gives you that right as His child, and He has promised to listen.

If you do not know Jesus, then you can pray to Him for forgiveness of your sins. That is all that is preventing Him from calling you one of His own. If you recognize your unrighteousness in the face of a Holy God then pray to Him for forgiveness. He will forgive you, and you will be cleansed from unrighteousness because He has already sacrificed Himself for your sins and took your punishment.

Do not delay. If you wonder why these things keep happening in the world and why things are not getting better, this is why. It is the end of time, and He is going to call His bride to Him soon. Don’t miss the biggest event in the history of the Church!

America’s light on the hill is going out part 3; Boise Idaho, China’s beachead in America

In part one of this series, I explained what hegemony is and demonstrated the decades of American hegemony and America’s influence in the world of business, finance, diplomacy, and economy. In part two I noted that American hegemony is in decline and showed the prophesies related to the rise of Asia in the last days. In this third and final part, I now show that today’s news is a strong indicator that the final days prophesies of the rise of the Orient are here.

America’s glory is fading because we fail to give glory to God

Der Spiegel, the German weekly, has an article outlining a mega-industrial park slated to be built in Boise, Idaho…by China. The Industrial park will be as large as Amsterdam and will have a special zoning attached to it. It will be a self-sustaining city, right down to its energy needs. I am not making this up. The article likens Boise as a Chinese “beachhead for America” and “establishing a foothold,” though the German article notes that the military-type idioms used by the Idaho Statesman newspaper regarding this project caused such an outcry that the newspaper online webpage took down the quotes. Here is an excerpt from the Google-translated article:

“When Americans speak of Boise, they think of potatoes, jazz and the hinterland. The provincial capital of the state of Idaho produces mostly messages of limited scope. But soon expected to make the city between Seattle and Salt Lake City big headlines. For Boise (pronounced Boisi) is facing a controversial career as China’s beachhead in America. The dimensions are enormous: around the factories in Boise is a complete technology zone planned to warehouses, wholesale centers, logistic hubs and entire neighborhoods with their own energy supply. It’s an economically self-sufficient city, an island with an area of ​​129 square kilometers. This corresponds to the size of Amsterdam. For the Chinese, it makes sense. Boise is the largest city between Seattle and Salt Lake. The plot of land upon which the industrial park will be built is just south of the Boise airport, which is only 45 minutes in air miles eastward of Seattle. The land values in Boise, however, make the 45 extra minutes of airtime extremely attractive.

On the American side, Idaho has a higher unemployment rate than the US National average of 9.1%, of 9.7%. People are broke. There is even a story in the Idaho Statesman that people are stealing newspapers to get the coupons. It is so sad that the same generation who had strength of will to oppose Russia and foment the collapse of Communism, is the one where we voluntarily gave up land for a Chinese beachhead to hasten our own downfall. Is it justice that where we once sought cheap land in hapless, economically deprived nations to make American clothing lines in sweatshops will now be done unto us? No, you say?

American constructions companies whose bosses are crying for lack of ability to feed their families will be only to happy to accept dollars from the Chinese to build an industrial park. Do you think the sub-contractors who need the orders will refuse to make the purchases? Do you think the people stealing newspapers so they can get the coupons will refuse to labor for the Chinese?

The Statesman quotes a local official on the project, saying ““I think China’s coming over here shows they are willing to collaborate on the reinvigoration of the American industrial base,” said Jeff Don, CEO of Eagle-based C3, which is acting as an Idaho representative for the Chinese company, called Sinomach for short.”

I think that the official has never heard of the Trojan Horse.

More to the point of the end times, though, in the days of the Tribulation, the Kings of the East are extremely active. They mount an army of incredible numbers.

“And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.” (Revelation 9:13-16)

Perhaps the staging area and beachhead for this future campaign is helped along by labor and cheap land in the once powerful and shining America, whose light is slowly but surely winking out.

America’s light on the hill is going out; China in prophecy – part 2

Earlier today I wrote part one of the decline of America’s hegemony, and noted potential impacts from this decline in influence in all areas; diplomatic, cultural, economic, etc. It was a prescient piece. Today we read in the Financial Times of London,

“The global order fractures as American power declines” and it is the first time a Main Stream Media outlet has likened the US definitively to ancient Rome.

“Harold Macmillan, the prime minister who watched US power rise as the British empire crumbled, used to say that Britain would play ancient Greece to America’s Rome. These days it looks as if Rome is declining too. The US finds it increasingly hard to drive forward its vision of international trade and economics over the objections of big emerging-market countries. The Visigoths and the Vandals who sacked Rome and undermined its empire, though far more cultured and sophisticated than their popular reputation, were unable to replicate the Pax Romana order it had established. European territories previously under Roman rule fractured into an unstable array of weak kingdoms and embattled city-states. Similarly, the vacuum created today by the erosion of US hegemony and the turmoil in the eurozone is resulting in stasis rather than a new direction.” …

“Emerging markets talk in general terms of increasing their power in the [international monetary] fund. Yet votes and executive board seats are already being shifted – admittedly painfully slowly – away from Europe towards middle-income countries. Many emerging markets would prefer to remove the US’s veto power over important decisions by cutting its share of the vote to below 15 per cent but no credible voting formula has been or will be devised to achieve that. China’s diplomatic efforts within the IMF in recent years have largely been negative, trying to get it to pipe down about the renminbi. Doha is dying but the emerging markets at the centre of the talks – India, China and Brazil – have not sketched a replacement.”

Remember, nature abhors a vacuum. Soon there will be a replacement. It looks to me that China would be that replacement, given the influence that the Asian nations will have in the prophetic: In other words, the barbarians are at the gate and we are now the huddles masses cowering behind fortresses which are crumbling.

China in Prophecy

“Scriptures rarely go outside the confines of the ancient Roman Empire in predicting future events. An exception to this is the statement found in Isaiah 49:12 relating to the ultimate regathering of the nation Israel, “Behold, these shall come from far: and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.” Although it is not possible to be dogmatic as to the precise reference of “the land of Sinim,” conservative scholarship has generally agreed that the most probable explanation is that this refers to the ancient land of China.”

The Magi From The East

“One of the most familiar Biblical references to the Far East is related to the visit of the Magi as they brought gifts to the Christ child. According to Matthew 2:1, 2, “Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.”

“It has been commonly held from the times of the early church fathers that these strange visitors came from the area east of the Euphrates and probably from ancient Persia. The Persian origin of the Magi was suggested by such men as Clement of Alexandria, Diodorus of Tarsus, Chrysostom, and Cyril of Alexandria. Somehow the Messianic hope had been transmitted in some form even to this distant land. The star appearing over Bethlehem prompted their journey and inquiry concerning the birth of the King of the Jews. The fact that they wanted to worship Him and recognized Him as the King of the Jews reveals that the basic facts concerning the Old Testament were more widely known than is commonly realized. As in the case of the reference to the land of Sinim, the story in the New Testament gives added support to the conclusion that the Bible includes the Orient in its world-wide view.”

Daniel’s Prophecy Of A Military Invasion From The Far East

“In Daniel’s prophecy of “the time of the end” beginning in Daniel 11:35, a king is pictured in the Mediterranean area who engages in a military conflict with the king of the south, the king of the north, and a military force from the east. … In the prophecy it is stated in Daniel 11:44, “But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.” Although the information given is meager, in the light of the context it appears that these tidings concern a military invasion from the Orient.”

The Great Army From The Orient

Two important passages in Revelation, namely, 9:13-21 and 16:12-16 contribute to the conclusion that one of the large armies employed in the final world conflict will be a military force of great power which comes from the Orient.

The Euphrates River

“Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates and dried up its water to prepare the way for the kings from the east.” (Rev 16:12) “The fact that the rise of Asia has occurred in our twentieth century with so many rapid and unexpected developments is another evidence that the world is moving toward its final climax and the end of the times of the Gentiles. In Asia, as in other parts of the world, the stage is being set for the final drama in which the kings of the east will have their important part.”

In the next part of my series, we will look at today’s news which supports the notion that America, the world’s only superpower for decades, is in decline as the prophetic nations of the Orient are rising up.

NASA makes unexpected finding: this sunspot cycle may be the last one

“If we are right, this could be the last solar maximum we’ll see for a few decades,” Hill said. “That would affect everything from space exploration to Earth’s climate.”

NASA scientists made an announcement today at 1:00 regarding the fact that “Astronomers would unveil a “major result” regarding the sun’s 11-year sunspot cycle. The announcement will be made at a solar physics conference in New Mexico, according to an alert released today (June 10) by the American Astronomical Society. The discussion will begin at 1 p.m. EDT.”

That press conference occurred and Yahoo science.com and Space.com report the results this way.

“The American Astronomical Society meeting in Austin has just made a major announcement on the state of the sun. Sunspots may be on the way out and an extended solar minimum may be on the horizon. Some unusual solar readings, including fading sunspots and weakening magnetic activity near the poles, could be indications that our sun is preparing to be less active in the coming years. The results of three separate studies seem to show that even as the current sunspot cycle swells toward the solar maximum, the sun could be heading into a more-dormant period, with activity during the next 11-year sunspot cycle greatly reduced or even eliminated. The results of the new studies were announced today (June 14) at the annual meeting of the solar physics division of the American Astronomical Society, which is being held this week at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.”

“Currently, the sun is in the midst of the period designated as Cycle 24 and is ramping up toward the cycle’s period of maximum activity. However, the recent findings indicate that the activity in the next 11-year solar cycle, Cycle 25, could be greatly reduced. Cycle 25 may not happen at all. In fact, some scientists are questioning whether this drop in activity could lead to a second Maunder Minimum, which was a 70-year period from 1645 to 1715 when the sun showed virtually no sunspots. “We expected to see the start of the zonal flow for Cycle 25 by now, but we see no sign of it,” Hill said. “This cycle, number 24, may be the last for some time, he says. If the models prove accurate and the trends continue, the implications could be far-reaching.”

“Scientists know of at least three periods with little or no sunspot activity. All three appear to have been associated with cooling on Earth. However, the details remain unclear.” “If we are right, this could be the last solar maximum we’ll see for a few decades,” Hill said. “That would affect everything from space exploration to Earth’s climate.”

Personally, I am always tickled when scientists think they know how the universe works and then are shown up to have in fact known nothing close to what they think they do. I think quantum physicists are more honest about their understanding of the world than astronomers and astro-physicists. Quantum physicists at least say they don’t know. Sadly though, neither group usually acknowledge God at the root of their particular discipline of science.

In today’s case, scientists found unexpectedly that this solar sunspot cycle may be the last. The Tribulation period will show men, all men-including scientists- just who is at the root of all physical laws. Nature will not act the way it has been. There will be no wind. No wind means no sailing, no precipitation cycle, and drought. The sun, moon, and stars will be struck. (Rev 8:12). The sun will heat up and scorch men. (Rev. 16:8-10). Eventually the sun will go dark completely. (Joel 2:31). In other words, the anomalies, or the “unexpected result” in the scientists’ parlance, we are seeing now at the close of the Church Age are indicators of more anomalies to come. And come. And come. Until nothing makes sense any more.

Here is a photo to remind us all of just how powerful and awesome God is, and how puny we are. And despite this puniness, He holds us in the palm of His hand, a cherished child.
