Guess what is, (or should be), the world’s largest mission field right now?

Trueblood, a Quaker, said that in the opening paragraphs of his book fifty years ago. A little more than a generation. We understand how much more true it is today that we have a world full of mild and uncommitted theists. But worse than a world full of mild and uncommitted theists, is the Christian church full of mild and uncommitted theists. Trueblood went on:

“In any case, when the Church is looking for a mission field it need not look beyond the nearest campus.”

When looking at the prophesies it’s always more interesting to look outward, to see the Muslims and the lost and the atheists and the other nations. But there are prophesies that are foretold about us, the Church.

Matthew 7:22-23 says, “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’

Many. If your church is filled with 300 people today, how many do you suppose would be granted entry into the Kingdom? Jesus said MANY will not be. So out of 300, how many is many? 10? 100? 150? 200?

Elton Trueblood again. “When the Church is looking for a mission field it need not look beyond the nearest campus” Why? Because many have halted between the service of God and the service of sin. As Elijah said-

“And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long will ye waver between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him.” 1 Kings 18:21.

Now is the time for decision. That gap between the two opinions is widening. People will not be able to straddle it any more, and that time is drawing close. You must decide, and if you think you have already decided, re-examine yourself. Soon there will be a showdown similar to the one that occurred between a God  and the false prophets of Baal on Mt Carmel. Soon the false notion that we can  serve two masters will be exposed, then removed. 

This is a call to re-examine our response to the Holy Word. Paul urged us to “Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves,” 2 Cor 13:5. The particular reason why Paul calls on them to examine themselves was, “that there was occasion to fear that many of them had been deceived. Such had been the irregularities and disorders in the church at Corinth; so ignorant had many of them shown themselves of the nature of the Christian religion, that it was important, in the highest degree, for them to institute a strict and impartial examination to ascertain whether they had not been altogether deceived. This examination, however, is never unimportant or useless for Christians; and an exhortation to do it is always in place.” (Barnes Notes). It is never more important than now. In any and all churches, I pray that the many will hear “well done good and faithful servant” and not “Depart from me, I never knew you.”

Serve sin or serve God, time to choose. How long will you waver between two opinions? How long will you push forward in church activity but never actually coming to know the builder of that church, Jesus? How long will you study prophecy as it applies to everyone else but not yourself? By the looks of things in the world, we won’t have long at all.

Fukushima update, and exhortation to listen to the Spirit

This is a well-founded and interesting update on Fukushima nuclear plant situation by Arnie Gundersen, Nuclear Physicist, of Faire Winds Associates. Gundersen is an energy adviser with 39-years of nuclear power engineering experience and a former nuclear industry senior vice president. Immediately upon listening to his update, you discern he is knowledgeable. The information is delivered in a way laymen can understand. Please view this 7-minute video to absorb the import of the information, then we’ll take a look at Revelation 6 and 8.

I had planned to post a hilarious essay on Peter and Rhoda in the situation that occurred after the angel delivered Peter from jail, as a lighter fare, and I’ll still do that later today. But the times are dark, that is a fact, but we who are in the Light will never fear the dark! The purpose of this post is not only to deliver information to you that the mainstream does not cover, but that hopefully the information transforms us into prayer warriors for the lost, sick, and dying; and diligent seekers of His word. Are we falling to our knees in appeals to the Holy Spirit?  The Lord put us here for a time such as this, let us not close our eyes nor wander away from being all that he intended us to be. It is precisely because things are so dark that we need to be the Light! Exhibit peace, pray for the Japanese, and stand on His word, always.

As was stated in the video, they had never anticipated that the fuel pool would burn as it seems to be doing in Fukushima. A previous study done by Brookhaven found that IF a fuel pool were to burn, that there would be as a consequence 137,000 fatalities from lung cancer. Let that sink in for a moment.

On March 11 when the Japan earthquake and tsunami happened, and the nuclear plant was destroyed, I wrote on Twitter: “FOUR Japanese reactors now lost ability to cool. Major emergency in Fukishima prefecture. Wondering Rev 6:7 plague maybe radiation poisoning.” Little did I know then that the radiation would still be outpouring perhaps dooming large segments of the population. It’s a legitimate speculation. Revelation 6 depicts several methods of prophesied death, one of which is worldwide plague. A quarter of the world dies. Things get even more specific in the Third Trumpet Judgment. Revelation 8:10-11 says:

“The third angel sounded, and a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of waters. The name of the star is called Wormwood; and a third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter.”

Most people have taken this to mean literally a star, asteroid or meteor, a solid heavenly body. But if you see the same word’s use in other verses it becomes obvious that it probably a is a metaphor to be taken figuratively.

The word in Greek is aster, and this same word is used in Matthew to describe the star that led the Wise men to he babe in the manger, it is used in Revelation 22:16 where Jesus compares Himself to the Bright and Morning Star, and in 1 Corinthians 15:41 where Paul is explaining that the saints in heaven will differ from one another in glory and splendor as the stars and sun and moon differ from one another in brightness.

There are other uses for the word star in the bible, halal, kokab, phósphoros, planḗtēs etc.But it is this word aster that can be used both literally and figuratively.

Further, if Wormwood is actually a solid heavenly body, take note that it falls on a third of the rivers and a third of the springs. Would an asteroid be able to split up and fall on only and exactly the springs and rivers and on nothing else? God can do anything, so of course it is possible, but tied in with the figurative use of the word aster above I think it an unlikely interpretation.

As a side note, compare the reverse situation in Exodus 15:22-25:
“So Moses brought Israel from the Red Sea; then they went out into the Wilderness of Shur. And they went three days in the wilderness and found no water. Now when they came to Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore the name of it was called Marah. And the people complained against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?” So he cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a tree. When he cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet.”

It is not out of the realm of possibility that the poison infecting the rivers and springs (which come from underground) could be radiation contamination. The information Gundersen delivers about the unknown leak under the trenches spreading unrestricted into the ocean is sobering. If it is leaking into the ocean then it’s likely it is also leaking under the ground to the groundwater table. This article explains the dangers of this happening, since Fukushima sits so close to the water table.

It is a speculation but with all that we now know that is going on in the air and under the sea at Fukushima, and the fact that the Japanese officials have now officially abandoned attempts to stop it, and will entomb it in concrete instead, tells us that the time prophesied of devastation from ecology destruction could be near to beginning.

We need to pray. The Japanese officials have put the Japanese people in deadly danger, and many are knowingly or unknowingly infected. Also, we can donate to the Red Cross. Donations have already surpassed 120M, praise to the generous souls who give sacrificially! Do you feel a burden to go there? To join the missionaries, or to start a missionary trip though your church? It is not outside the realm of possibility that some few reading this already feel that burden. Jesus said “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations…” For others, you may be feeling a conviction to do something that I haven’t described but was uniquely delivered at the prompting of the Holy Spirit. There is a lot we can do and we should get busy doing it. Our first priority is a close walk with Jesus so that we will ‘have an ear to hear’ when He calls!

Don’t be destroyed for lack of knowledge

Wilfred J. Hahn usually writes about economic and financial matters. His bio states that he “is a global economist/strategist. Formerly a top-ranked global analyst, research director for a major Wall Street investment bank, and head of Canada country’s largest global investment operation, his writings focus on the endtime roles of money, economics and globalization.”

This week he published an interesting essay regarding Wikileaks and how the world’s reaction to the leaks, to the company, and to its founder, Julian Assange, is similar to the prophesied world reaction toward witnessing Christians during the Tribulation and to the Antichrist’s financial schemes. It is really interesting, but even more interesting, to me, was his interpretation of the famous Daniel prophecy. Hahn writes:

“But you, Daniel, close up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge” (Daniel 12:4). A popular interpretation of this verse is that not only will knowledge (i.e. information and data) increase in the world, but also travel. While this may not be a harmful interpretation, for a number of reasons, it is not likely that this text refers to such phenomena at all.”

“As it was, Daniel’s prophecies are concerned with the Jewish people and their future. Just as Hosea 4:6 (“My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge”) is expressly spoken to the Jews, so likely is Daniel’s prophecy of an increase of knowledge. The word knowledge here does not refer to technical and scientific information, but rather to the knowing of God’s plan and His laws. The prophets had often castigated the Hebrews for their lack of knowledge. “Israel’s watchmen are blind, they all lack knowledge” said Isaiah (56:10).”

“Hosea confirms that the knowledge lacked refers to the ignorance of God and His Laws. “Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children” (Hosea 4:6). In Biblical terms, the word “knowledge” is more aptly defined as the “act of knowing.” In this sense, it is not knowledge that increases, but rather the knowing of it. For this and other reasons, we are safer to interpret this passage as referring to an increase in understanding of historical prophecy and Scripture, not an increase of information.”

“During the last days, the Jewish people will again come to an increasing understanding of their destiny and purpose. Finally, at the end of the Great Tribulation, a remnant will receive a full understanding. “Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding. In those days, when your numbers have increased greatly in the land, declares the LORD […]” (Jeremiah 3:15-16). The full content and revelation of the Bible will be “leaked” … in other words, rediscovered and revealed in the light of truth.”

Thoughts to Ponder

“Sadly, all of us living in the super-charged media and commercialized culture of our time, struggle in attaining the type of devotion that Scripture upholds. Apostle Paul was already worried about this type of assault upon the minds of Christians 2000 years ago. But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:3). Yes, Paul may not have understood the “somehow.” But today, we do recognize the devices and means that are being employed to lead our minds astray from the Bible.”

“The Bible has the first and last word on knowledge. “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world” (Psalm 19:1-4). Here, we clearly see that knowledge is the foundational information that matters for an eternity.”

I was never satisfied with traditional interpretations of the Daniel verse, ‘going to and fro and knowledge shall increase.’ I used them, spoke of them, but was never 100% on them. However the link Hahn makes to how God uses the world knowledge in the bible and Hosea’s prophecy of the people are destroyed for lack of knowledge makes total sense. Kudos to him for allowing the Holy Spirit to lead him to the conclusion, and kudos for publishing it to allow us to make our own decisions about it, too.

In all cases, knowledge of the word is essential, and in dark times like these we are veritably destroyed without it. It is like jumping into a roiling ocean from a sinking ship without a life jacket. We should be clinging to that bible for all it’s worth, because it is worth everything. As this church sign says:

If we are destroyed for lack of knowledge, and if “The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign LORD, “when I will send a famine through the land–not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD”, (Amos 8:11) then absorb all we can now and teach it to the young, the unbelieving, the faithful. Share His word liberally, frequently, and hide it in your heart. Buy extra bibles and stock them at work, the gym, school. Donate to the Gideons. When the Jews return to Covenant with God after the Gog-Magog battle and then first set of judgments is concluded (Seals) then 144,000 Jews are supernaturally sealed by God and are thus protected throughout the duration of the Tribulation. They are super-evangelists and they proclaim the Word. So do the Two Witnesses later on, and finally the angel in Rev. 14:6 proclaims the Gospel too, and every nation, people, tribe and tongue hears it.

Until then, it is up to us to share the word. Do not be destroyed for lack of knowledge! A few minutes in the morning or the evening reading the Word of God is a good thing to do. And just think, you don’t even have to go here and there to find it.

Being a slave of Christ

I heard an interesting sermon from John MacArthur this week. It got me thinking. It was about being slaves of Christ. You can read, listen to, or download this sermon here. He said that a believer’s true position in Christ has been diluted by the translators’ choice of the word servant and bond-servant for the Greek word doulos. They have consistently translated the word doulos which means slave, as servant. Doesn’t that change the flavor of service to the Lord? Being a servant indicates that we can and do serve Him at our own will and pleasure, and slave means we submit our will to an alien will and then the matter is out of our hands.

The bible is clear in its description that believers are slaves, not servants.  In every case where the word doulos is used it means slave, and the New Testament uses it 130 times. We are not servants of Christ, we’re his slaves. Even emphasizing the point in using the word minister, in 1 Corinthians 4:1 Paul said they were ministers of Christ but the Greek word is under-rower. The Roman trireme had three levels and the slaves chained to the oars at the lowest level were under-rowers.

Now, that notion is unpalatable in this “you can do anything” liberated free culture. It is anathema to the promotion of Christianity as a free-ing religion. It is certainly revolting to this generation of ego-driven self-gratification seekers in the secular world. But it is what it is.

The forehead
I am reading the bible through and I notice that a well-known phenomenon that will happen at the end of days also happened from the beginning. In the end, Revelation tells us the antichrist will place a mark on the hand or forehead of all who worship him. (Rev 13:15-17). The mark allows people to buy and sell, but its reason for being is not the economy, it is a mark of allegiance and worship of the beast. That the mark allows a person to also participate in the economy is a by-product of its placement on the person.

Jesus also sends an angel to place a mark on the forehead of His 144,000 who evangelize the world. (Rev 7:3-4).

Who brands his slaves? The master. Who puts a mark of ownership on his slaves? The master. Jesus is the ultimate Master and we are His ultimate slaves. That He puts a mark on us should not be surprising. We happily read language in the bible that says ‘we are His’. But when you look at the Greek word for ‘His’ it really means slave, and that’s when people balk. Did you know that ancient Romans marked runaway slaves on the forehead with the letters FUG (for fugitivus)? The notion of marking ownership of those who belong to Him was shown in the bible to have happened from the beginning. And here comes the use of the word forehead again.

In Exodus 28:36-38 we see the LORD instructing Aaron to order a gold plate made, “You shall also make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engraving of a signet: HOLINESS TO THE LORD. And you shall put it on a blue cord, that it may be on the turban; it shall be on the front of the turban. So it shall be on Aaron’s forehead, that Aaron may bear the iniquity of the holy things which the children of Israel hallow in all their holy gifts; and it shall always be on his forehead, that they may be accepted before the LORD.”

Deuteronomy 6:7-9 “Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” The symbols mentioned here are phylacteries, a set of small cubic leather boxes painted black, containing scrolls of parchment inscribed with verses from the Torah, with leather straps dyed black on one side, and worn by observant Jews during weekday morning prayers. They were in use by the third century BC.

In the bible, forehead is used a lot to show identification with God (or with the antichrist.) We think of forehead as the exterior part of the face above the eyes and under the hairline. But in the bible forehead was used also to indicate what was inside the head. Wayne Blank explains it well. The Bible doesn’t just use the term “forehead” to describe what is physically foremost inside the head, as not just a bodily location, but also what is consciously a heart condition, much more like the term “heart and mind” is used today.

In Ezekiel 9:4: “The LORD said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, even through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the abominations which are being committed in its midst.” A mark – literally, “Tau,” the name of the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet. The old form of the letter was that of a cross.
Summary of our true position
A slave was exclusively owned by one master. He was expected to demonstrate complete and constant obedience and availability to that master. He was subject to one alien will (because no man can be a slave to two masters) and was completely dependent on his master for everything. All discipline and reward came from that master. Are you uncomfortable with this lifestyle? Well, did you ever pray,  “not my will but thine be done”? (Luke 11:1-2; Mt 26:42). Do you love the book of John, reading it well and recommending it heartily? It says in John 5:30 “I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” There are many other examples of Jesus reiterating that His will not be done but the Father who sent Him, and as an example to His children to do the same. Yes, we are His children, we are His beloved, we are His bride, all nice, but we are also His slaves.

We use that term so casually today. Teenagers sneer, “What am I, your slave?” We say we slave away at the sale mines. We are slaves to things, like “I’m a slave to…ice cream. We slaved over a hot stove all day. But when we read of our true position in Christ, slave, we balk. “No, not me”, you think.

But we will be slaves to Him throughout all of eternity: Revelation 22:1-4: “And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.”

May His will be done.

Sunrise, sunset

With all the focus on the sun lately, it reminded me of how much we love the sun, how much we rely on it. Older civilizations worshiped the sun, even some civilizations nowadays worship it. The sun should not be an object of worship but it is an object that inspires awe. But with all that, we still take it for granted.

I’ve had the privilege of seeing the Aurora Borealis display twice. Once was a short display in Maine. I was driving home late at night after a class in Portland. I was on a long stretch of road and I could see up ahead that there was a strange red in the sky, even though it was long past sunset. I pulled over at a wide span in the breakdown lane and got out of the car. I was treated to a wonderful display of the lights, in reds and blues. It looked like a curtain waving.

On the other occasion, I was on an ice-breaking ferry in Labrador. It was in the middle of the night, but we were about to enter a port so everyone was up and awake. A French-Canadian gentleman became excited and pointed to the low horizon, gesticulating and urging his girlfriend to look. After a moment or two, the sky popped. A cracking sizzled in my ears and a gorgeous curtain of greens lit up the sky. I was wowed, awed, and amazed at the colors, but especially the sounds. It sounded like a harp was being played that had strings of electricity. The lights are ethereal, and I felt privileged to see the results of the solar flare’s effect on earth.I mean, it’s not every day you get to see ions light up.

People love the sun so much, and its appearance and disappearance each day is always a source of anticipation, relief, and joy. Sunrises and sunsets are eagerly watched and remarked on. Sunsets are cause for parties in Key West, Naples Florida and other locations where there is warmth, beaches, and coolers. For I while I lived on a yacht, sailing to the Bahamas. While I was on watch at the 3-5am stint, sailing through the dark ocean waters, there is never such relief and happiness when the the first few rays of the sun poke above the horizon. The last night watch before dawn always seemed the longest. When the sun bursts over the waves and the first light emerges it seems the same thing is happening in my heart, waves of joy illuminate it and I feel light and happy.

A little-known solar effect at sunset is the “Green Flash.” It is fairly rare. At least, it only lasts a second or two so it is hard to see and so it’s rarely caught. I caught it when I was living in Florida for the winter. At sunset, and atmospheric conditions are just right, as the sun goes beneath the horizon, a green light shoots out from under the sun’s disk to the right and to the left, and then the entire sun is gone as well as the flash. I saw it, my husband saw it, and another guy on the beach saw it. We were so excited to have seen this rare solar phenomenon. It is kind of like finding a unicorn, fabled and mythologized, but the flash actually does happen. The other folks on the beach didn’t believe us, and accused us of drinking. But we had not taken any drink of any kind. It looked like deep green emeralds shooting out.

“Green flashes come in two common forms, succinctly described by James Prescott Joule in a letter to the Manchester Literary and Philosophical Society in 1869. First, he noted that “at the moment of the departure of the sun below the horizon, the last glimpse is coloured bluish green.” This “last glimpse” flash is associated with the inferior mirage, familiar on asphalt roads on sunny days. It is best seen from a few meters above sea level…”

The recent solar storm with ejected flare has caused a bit of consternation among scientists, aware lay people, and conspiracy theorists. However, damage from a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) is no conspiracy- they happen and they will continue to happen. They will also continue to affect earth.

Space.com muses on the possibilities in an aptly headlined article: Catastrophe Looming? The Risks of Rising Solar Storm Activity”:
“The sun let loose its most powerful eruption in more than four years Monday night (Feb. 14), disrupting radio communications in China and generating concern around the world. But it could have been a lot worse, experts say. Despite its strength, Monday’s solar storm was a baby compared to several previous blasts, and it provides just a hint of what the sun is capable of. A true monster storm has the potential to wreak havoc on a global scale, knocking out communications systems, endangering satellites and astronauts and causing perhaps trillions of dollars in damages. The sun’s activity cycle is ramping up, so more storms will likely be coming our way over the next few years. The sun has grown more active over the last several months after rousing from a quiet period in its 11-year weather cycle last year.”

“But Earth has been walloped by monster solar storms before. One of the most powerful hit us in 1859, a blast that Rutledge estimates may have been 30 times more powerful than Monday’s event, though it’s tough to put hard numbers on such comparisons. The 1859 storm shorted out telegraph wires, causing fires in North America and Europe, and spawned spectacular auroras — the light shows visible near Earth’s poles — bright enough to read by, according to some accounts. If the 1859 storm occurred these days, it would likely have devastating impacts, since our electrical and communications infrastructures are so much more developed. A recent report by the U.S National Academy of Sciences found that such a severe storm could cause up to $2 trillion in initial damages by crippling communications on Earth and fueling chaos around the world.”

We love the sun. We take endless photos of sunrises and sunsets. We admire its strength and bemoan its winter weakness. We languish under its warmth and rejoice under its light. We are awestruck at its auroral displays and marvel at its mirages. But one day, the sun will not be there.

“I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place.” This is an event described in Revelation 6:12-14. This is a terrible event that happens early on in the Tribulation. The seal judgments are the first set of 7 among 21 judgments. The 7 Trumpet Judgments and then finally the 7 Bowl Judgments come after the Seal Judgments. Imagine, the sun not giving its light! Imagine the terror, the clockwork rising and setting as we have always known them, GONE. Just darkness covering the land. It will happen, but…

YOU can be in the light, the Light of Jesus and the glory of heaven. If you feel sincerely bad about your sins, then ask Jesus to forgive them. He will do it. He died on the cross so that He would be the sacrifice, satisfying God’s justice for sin. You can live forever under His eternal pardon, or you can see for yourself what it really means to be in the dark.

I’ve written twice since late last night about the X-class solar flare that was ejected from the sun and hurled toward earth. The sun’s solar cycle is getting more active and expected to peak in 2013. With the recent activity, astronomers predicted that some kind of flare was likely to occur. Scientists were surprised when the flare eventually turned out to be an X-class, though.

Indeed, four C-class flares were ejected, and later, an M-class flare. C-class flares are small, and M-class are medium. X-class flares are big, and when they are directed toward the earth, they can cause damage. According to Spaceweather.com, “A solar flare is an explosion on the Sun that happens when energy stored in twisted magnetic fields (usually above sunspots) is suddenly released. Flares produce a burst of radiation across the electromagnetic spectrum, from radio waves to x-rays and gamma-rays.”

“Flares send a burst of X-rays and charged particles — mostly protons — out from the Sun’s surface into space. Occasionally one is pointed in the right direction so that it affects the Earth. They are classified according to how powerful they are, as A, B, C, M or X, with X being the most powerful.”

Solar flares and the end time…there is a link. In this article from the Salem Oregon news, “Magnetic Polar Shifts Causing Massive Global Superstorms,” continuing, “NASA has been warning about it…scientific papers have been written about it…geologists have seen its traces in rock strata and ice core samples…Now “it” is here: an unstoppable magnetic pole shift that has sped up and is causing life-threatening havoc with the world’s weather.” I’ve written before about the magnetic pole shift occurring, and we also know and understand that the magnetosphere which protects us from the sun’s harmful rays and flares is twisting, shrinking, and has a huge hole in it. NASA reported in 2009 that there is a giant breach in the earth’s magnetosphere. “It is ten times larger than anything previously thought to exist. Solar wind can flow in through the opening to “load up” the magnetosphere for powerful geomagnetic storms. But the breach itself is not the biggest surprise. Researchers are even more amazed at the strange and unexpected way it forms, overturning long-held ideas of space physics.”

“The Earth’s magnetosphere was discovered in 1958 by Explorer 1, which was the first U.S. artificial satellite launched to orbit earth. The Earth’s magnetosphere is shaped based on the extent of Earth’s internal magnetic field, the solar wind plasma, and the inter-planetary magnetic field. The magnetosphere prevents most particles from the sun, carried in the solar wind, from impacting earth. The Earth has the strongest Magnetosphere of all the rocky planets.” This is how the magnetosphere usually looks. At the left is the sun, at the right, in the center of the solar streams, is the earth.

Most importantly, the magnetosphere is protecting Earth from much harmful radiation from the solar wind ejected by the Sun. The magnetosphere is a very important source of protection, repelling the solar wind out and around the earth in loops formed by the magnetic field of the earth. The photo above shows the magnetosphere is its normal shape. The picture below shows the magnetosphere in its current shape: twisted in a way I’ve never seen before.

The magnetosphere protects us, and without it we would fry. Ultraviolet rays from the sun, if they were to drift upon us, would burn us terribly. Being fully exposed to a solar flare would range from harmful to deathly. Just such a thing may have happened in Louisiana. In a KATC-TV spot news report, “Around two-dozen high school students come home, in the middle of winter with what looks like… Get this— a sunburn. Now, parents and teachers want to know how this happened. It’s a mystery in the community of Hathaway and it has people burning to know the answers. “We don’t know what caused it,” parent, Donald Demary said. “We just kept trying to find answers,” Hathaway High Principal Mona Miller said. On Wednesday, about two dozen Hathaway High School students came back from a field trip with what appears to be a sunburn. The mystery is, students and teachers don’t know what caused it. “We have no idea,” Principal Miller said. “It’s very bizarre.” Demary says, “it’s something we need to be very concerned about. “It looked more like a flash burn.” Miller described, “or something someone would experience inside a tanning bed.”

A hole in the magnetosphere or strong sun shining through a weakened section of it would cause the burning. Not saying it did, but it could.

The pole shift, X-class solar flare, and the students getting flash-burned made me think of the breakdown of the celestial cycles prophesied to happen in Revelation and in Matthew 24:29. The sun goes dark, the moon goes dark, stars fall from the sky, the moon turns red, the skies roll back as a scroll, burning mountains crash into the oceans (asteroids?) it will all happen. And there is something else that will happen: “The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire. They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him.” (Revelation 16:8-9). Like the students in Louisiana, in the Revelation judgment, if you go outside for a few moments you’ll get burned. The Revelation judgment is NOT happening now, but as I said, the things happening this week with the sun and the flares and the magnetosphere made me think of the Revelation judgment. The magnetosphere could disappear and that may be how the judgment comes to pass. In any case, extreme weather and abnormal solar activity is the new normal.

But you do not have to worry about extremes or fluctuations in any cycle. Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, and He is constant. He is the same today, yesterday and forever! You can be with Him to experience a constant level of joy and peace that you never knew on earth, X-class flares notwithstanding. Ask me how. Go on, I dare you to ask.

Customs official: Weapon of mass destruction found in US

“A port official has admitted that a ‘weapon of mass effect’ has been found by ‘partner agencies’ in the U.S., raising major questions over a possible government cover-up. The disturbing revelation came in an interview with San Diego’s assistant port director screened by a television channel in the city. The Customs and Border Protection Department tried to dampen speculation over his remarks, but doubts remained over whether he had inadvertently revealed a dirty bomb plot to attack the U.S. mainland. Concern over a secret WMD bust came after U.S. cables made public by the Wikileaks whistleblower website revealed terror groups were plotting a ‘nuclear 911.’ “

Partial transcription of the interview:
‘So, specifically, you’re looking for the dirty bomb? You’re looking for the nuclear device?’ asked Mr Blacher.
‘Correct. Weapons of mass effect,’ said Mr Hallor.
‘You ever found one?’ asked Mr Blacher.
‘Not at this location,’ Mr Hallor said.
‘But they have found them?’ asked Mr Blacher.
‘Yes,’ said Mr Hallor.

“Earlier, Mr Hallor told Mr Blacher: ‘Potentially every city in America is a target. Given the waterways and the access to the Navy fleet here, I’d say, absolutely, San Diego is a target.” Read more at the link…

It doesn’t take a genius to know that the world is a very, very dangerous place. Wars are asymmetrical now, and could be launched by anyone, anywhere, at any time, and in some cases, we’d never know what hit us. The book by William Forstchen in “One Second After” an apocalyptic book illustrating the effects of an electro-magnetic pulse over the US, is true-to life scenario where things go to pieces very quickly, but the enemy was never known.

Speaking of waterways and an unknown enemy perpetrator, in Joel C. Rosenberg‘s book “Dead Heat“, waterways were used to launch a shoulder-held scud missiles simultaneously from 4 strategic cities, Seattle (technological center), LA (entertainment center), Potomac (political Center) and NYC (financial center). Container ships anchored on rivers giving access to these cities, or anchored immediately offshore, allowed through the proximity for a terrorist crew to simply unclasp a tarp that had covered a disassembled missile on deck, assemble it within seconds, launch it, up anchor, and steam out while the crew repaints the ship’s name en route.

It is an entirely plausible and scary scenario. It is so plausible, that it has leapt from the pages of political fiction to near possibility, according to the Customs officer. It makes TSA patting down 5-year-olds look like the ridiculous government intrusion that it is, while waterways and borders go unprotected.

As far as the end time goes, if you are thinking that “it couldn’t happen in America”, think again. Revelation 6:3-4 depicts the first devastating judgments, and second in line is war. “When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword.” Peace will be taken from the earth. That means ALL the earth, including America. No section, place, plot, or nook will escape the effects of the second seal. War will be the order of the day.

We see it setting up, now, even before the Tribulation. Look at a map of the eastern Mid-East and northern Africa. The unrest has spread from Lebanon, to Egypt, to Saudi Arabia, to Bahrain, Algeria, Yemen, and now Italy. The “A” marks a tiny island owned by Italy, called Lampedusa, where the Tunisians are fleeing. More on that news, below. Click on the map to enlarge it.

Yemen: Hundreds of anti-government protesters marched toward a presidential palace in Yemen on Sunday, calling for regime change in the Middle Eastern country. Some of them chanted, “First Mubarak, now Ali,” referring to Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh and Hosni Mubarak, who recently resigned as president of Egypt after nearly 30 years in power. Security forces put up a barbed wire barricade and blocked the protesters’ path about two miles from the palace. At that point, the situation intensified as protesters turned away and attempted to reach the palace through side streets.”

Algeria: Unrest, protests and clashes. “Police reportedly used tear gas and batons to drive back crowds protesting over unemployment. About 30 people, most of them protesters, were hurt. In January Algeria was the first in a string of countries to see street protests, as people rallied against high food prices and unemployment. Several people were killed as unrest spread across the country. The sporadic protests have been continuing since early January.”

Bahrain: “Following Algeria over the weekend, the latest country to see an escalation in rioting following the revolutions of Tunisia and Egypt, is the tiny island of Bahrain, situated just off the coast of Saudi Arabia, which just happens to be home to the US Navy’s 5th fleet. From the Washington Post: “Bahrain’s security forces fired tear gas and rubber bullets Monday at thousands of anti-government protesters heeding calls to unite in a major rally and bring the Arab reform wave to the Gulf for the first time.” We are currently searching to bring readers a live feed, but don’t hold your breath. As noted above, this country is situated just off Saudi, and the last thing the oil exporting country needs to show is how volatile the region has suddenly become despite attempts by various emirates in the region to purchase the loyalty of their citizens.

Italy: “Due to political and economical instability in Tunisia, thousands of Tunisian migrants are fleeing to Lampedusa, a tiny Italian island located 70 miles from Tunisian ports. In less than a week’s time, between 4,000 and 5,000 migrants have arrived on Italian shores, almost doubling the population of Lampedusa. The situation is so urgent that Italy had to declare the state of emergency and called the EU for assistance.”

Italy: Thousands of Italians took to the streets in some 200 cities across the country Sunday in protest of Prime Minister’s Silvio Berlusconi’s alleged behavior toward women. The largest gathering was in Rome, where organizers said 100,000 people gathered, under the slogan, “If not now, when?” In Milan, organizers estimated that 60,000 people gathered. Protests also took place outside Italy, including marches in Tokyo and Geneva. Sunday’s demonstrations were the biggest anti-Berlusconi rallies since the most recent sex scandal broke in January, when Milan prosecutors said they were investigating whether the prime minister abused his power by helping an underaged woman, who he had allegedly paid for sex, get out of jail on a theft charge..”

Where will the unrest end? After Jesus comes and sets up His Millennium Kingdom on earth. From here on out, there is only more violence, revolution, and war. Lord, come soon!

Crazy weather updated- Australia gets snow- in summer!

Yesterday I posted a blurb about the scientists’ note that 2010 was a seriously wacky weather year. It was noted, “This was the year the Earth struck back. Earthquakes, heat waves, floods, volcanoes, super typhoons, blizzards, landslides and droughts killed at least a quarter million people in 2010 – the deadliest year in more than a generation.” Well, on the heels of that article, I see today that Australia received snow. In summer. It’s summer in Oz, and the height of the wildflower season.

Wintry weather brings snow to Australia in midsummer
Australia normally experiences temperatures of 86F (30C) at this time of year, but the chances of a rare white Christmas have increased after plunging temperatures and snow swept across the east of the country. “It’s white, everything is white,” Michelle Lovius, the general manager of the Kosciuszko Chalet Hotel at Charlotte Pass, said. “First thing this morning everything was just very still, very peaceful and every single thing was just blanketed in a thick cover of white.” At the ski fields, children in Father Christmas hats, who would usually be sunning themselves on the grassy slopes, made snowballs and rode on sleds. Miss Lovius said such a large amount of snow was unusual for early December, normally the peak of the wild flower season in the mountainous region. “We’re hoping that it (the cold) stays in for five days and we get a white Christmas,” she said. In one part of the state temperatures dropped as low 39.2F, the coldest December morning in 54 years, according to the Weather Channel.”

As I have been saying, weather anomalies are a sometimes, mostly rare, occurrence. Spot weird weather happens across the globe from time to time. But no one can seem to explain why anomalies are occurring as a regular pattern, in many places at once, so demonstrably. Superlatives are constantly being used, “coldest in a generation”, “most snow in 50 years”, “Heaviest winds ever recorded…” Record-breaking is the norm now. Actually, what is happening is opposite of what man thought would and should be happening. To give a taste of how flawed our understanding is of the complicated workings of God-driven weather patterns, just ten years ago, it was reported in the UK Independent,

‘Snowfalls Are Now Just a Thing of the Past’
“Britain’s winter ends tomorrow with further indications of a striking environmental change: snow is starting to disappear from our lives. Sledges, snowmen, snowballs and the excitement of waking to find that the stuff has settled outside are all a rapidly diminishing part of Britain’s culture, as warmer winters – which scientists are attributing to global climate change – produce not only fewer white Christmases, but fewer white Januaries and Februaries.”

OOPS! This winter, the UK has experienced tremendous winter chaos as the heaviest snowfalls ever and the coldest temperatures ever cause everything from simple travel woes, to accidents, lost revenue, chaos, and even deaths.

Eventually, the weather will be completely upended from anything man has known. The last days of the end days, which are now, God is warning us through weather, among other methods. The Scriptures are far from silent on the source of weather disasters, including drought, earthquakes, famines, floods, hailstones, storms, thunder, tornadoes, wind storms, etc. Weather disasters such as the ones mentioned in the article “2010’s world gone wild: Quakes, floods, blizzards” can originate from satan at the permission of God, or they can originate with God. However, God is always fully in control of all that happens on the earth, and if the weather is crazy this winter, well, just turn to Psalm 78:47 and read “He destroyed …their sycamore trees with frost…”  or Job 37:6 “For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth…” How anyone can say that man is knowledgeable of weather patterns with within one decade we went from “there will be no more snow” to “Forecasters warned the worst was still to come over the next 24 hours as the heaviest December snowfall for 30 years tightened its grip on the nation once more.” (source)

Unusual and inexplicable weather will only get worse. After the rapture when millions of Christians are removed from the earth, the Time of Jacob’s Trouble will begin for the rebellious Jews and unbelieving world. The Seal Judgments are the very first set of judgments, and by the time the sixth seal is opened, no weather will be normal. Even the hardest-hearted will acknowledge that God is in control of it all. It is prophesied:

“I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood; and the stars of the sky fell to the earth, as a fig tree casts its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind. The sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb;  for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”(Rev 6:12-17)

Beloved, if you are unsaved and reading this and are prepared to mock His words, be assured that you will be one of those hiding in caves crying out to God, understanding that His day has arrived, and because of the burden of your sin, you cannot stand. The prophecy says every slave and every free man and since the bible is literally true, then that means every, and thus, it means YOU.

You do not have to wait until that day, however. In His mercy He warns us and those warnings are happening now. The crazy weather and unusual things happening in the world are part of His plan to shake us from the complacency of sin. You can acknowledge your sins, and ask Him to forgive the wrongs you have committed against Him and He WILL forgive you. It’s that, or nursing your pride in a cave when the world goes dark and the earth shakes open. Your call.

New life form found, on earth

Discovery of “Arsenic-bug” Expands Definition of Life
NASA-supported researchers have discovered the first known microorganism on Earth able to thrive and reproduce using the toxic chemical arsenic. The microorganism, which lives in California’s Mono Lake, substitutes arsenic for phosphorus in the backbone of its DNA and other cellular components. “The definition of life has just expanded,” said Ed Weiler, NASA’s associate administrator for the Science Mission Directorate at the agency’s Headquarters in Washington. “As we pursue our efforts to seek signs of life in the solar system, we have to think more broadly, more diversely and consider life as we do not know it.” This finding of an alternative biochemistry makeup will alter biology textbooks and expand the scope of the search for life beyond Earth. The research is published in this week’s edition of Science Express.”

How will this discovery impact science? How will it interplay with evolution? Will it destroy the false concept of evolution because the phylogenetic tree has no branch for this life form? Or will it buttress it, there now being a life form that emerged from a chemical soup as the evolutionists insist man did?

Alternately, being a bacteria, is it the emergence of a one of the pestilences that are unleashed to kill a quarter of the earth in Revelation 6:8? Curiouser and curiouser. The Lord’s work is so far above our ways!

National Inflation Association says a loaf of bread could soon cost $20 USD (or one denarius)

A loaf of wheat bread may soon cost $23 due to skyrocketing food price inflation
Within a decade, a loaf of wheat bread may cost $23 in a grocery store in the United States, and a 32-oz package of sugar might run $62. A 64-oz container of Minute Maid Orange Juice, meanwhile, could set you back $45.71. This is all according to a new report released Friday by the National Inflation Association which warns consumers about the coming wave of food price inflation that’s about to strike the western world. NIA also projects that by the end of this decade, a plain white men’s cotton t-shirt at Wal-Mart will cost $55.57.”

“The report highlights how despite cotton rising by 54%, corn rising by 29%, soybeans rising by 22%, orange juice rising by 17%, and sugar rising by 51% during the months of September and October alone, these huge commodity price increases have yet to make their way into America’s grocery stores because corporations have been reluctant to pass these price increases along to the consumer. In today’s dismal economy, no retailer wants to be the first to dramatically raise food prices. However, NIA [National Inflation Association]  expects all retailers to soon substantially raise food prices at the same time, which will ensure that this Holiday shopping season will be the worst in recorded American history.”

“By the end of the decade”…that is only 9 years away! Actually, I believe that the food inflation will come much sooner than that. Revelation 6 shows us how dire the famine conditions will be by the time the Third Seal is opened –

“And I heard something like a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, ‘A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not damage the oil and the wine. (Revelation 6:6)

A quart of wheat is about a liter, or about 4 cups dry measure.

A denarius was a day’s wage.  John 12:5 shows us a relative value-  “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.” The Greek translation of this verse is that the words ‘year’s wages’ is ‘triakosiōn denarion’, or three hundred denarii. If three hundred denarii are a year’s wages, one denarius would be a day’s wages, roughly.

The website Archaeology.com, by the  Archaeological Institute of America states of the denarius: “VALUE- One day’s wage for an unskilled laborer or common soldier, about $20 in today’s terms.”
