Blasphemy is on everyone’s lips

It seems that everywhere these past days I read a news story which now affords Muhammad a respect and title he had not been given before. We see more and more often in the newspapers and in media the Muslim man named Muhammad called ‘The Prophet Muhammad’ and not simply Muhammad. They even use a capital P. Entertainment Weekly referred to Muhammad this way. National Public Radio referred to Muhammad this way. The NY Times referred to Muhammad this way. And many others. Obama referred to Muhammad that way just today at the UN. (But ‘Jesus Christ’ was all our Savior got for a title from Obama, not Messiah Jesus or Savior Jesus or even Prophet Jesus. Only ‘Jesus Christ’).

Nowadays when Muhammad is referred to in print or video news items, increasingly he is accorded that elevated status and title.

I believe this is significant. (Jude 1:18; 2 Peter 3:3). It signals a shift away from Christ and toward Islam, which is really a prophesied shift away from the true religion toward a coming false one. At the end of the end, there will be a one world religion, and that religion will be worship of the antichrist (really, satan-worship). (Revelation 13:3-4). Worldwide hatred of anything having to do with Jesus will be the order of the day. (Revelation 13:7-8).

Also significant, is the global push for about instituting some kind of restriction of speech about Islam and specifically Muhammad. On Friday, September 21st I’d posted a news blurb about the Muslim call for a global blasphemy law. I’d mentioned that the Muslim nations had successively made that call at each session of the UN but it never had gotten anywhere. The motion had always died. But it has revived with a bang.

If you think for a moment how ridiculous this is and how obviously it betrays Muslim intention to dominate the world. How can a religion pass a law? How would they enforce it? Can a person mot a Muslim even blaspheme a person or object in which they do not believe? Sharia is their goal. Sharia is the moral code and religious law of Islam, governing every aspect of a Muslim’s life & is based on the Koran).

Here is one news blurb about the global blasphemy law from today-

“As the U.N. General Assembly convenes this week in New York, several leaders of mostly Muslim nations are suggesting that the world body consider sanctions on blasphemy, amid widespread protests against an amateur movie that denigrates Islam’s Prophet Muhammad. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said he will focus at least part of his remarks on the film when he addresses the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday.”

It’s one thing for people of another religion to lobby for certain rights to the UN, which has no sovereignty over the United States (for now) but it is quite another for citizens OF the United States INSIDE the United states to lobby for the same.

“The leadership of the Islamic Society of Greater Kansas City have launched an online petition campaign for President Obama to back a bill to limit the free speech of American citizens they deem offensive.”

Back at the UN, “Blasphemy campaign threatens to derail UN“
“The demand for limits on anti-Islamic expression is coming from leading Islamic groups such as the Organisation for Islamic Co-operation, and leaders as diverse as the Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Egyptian President, Mohammed Mursi, and the Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.”

Hmmm. Interesting leaders it is coming from…Iran-Turkey will form an alliance to attack Israel in the Gog-Magog war of Ezekiel 37-38, and Egypt will participate in the Psalm 83 war against Israel. (I believe the Hagrites referred to in Psalm 83 are Egyptians. Hagar was Egyptian and she got an Egyptian wife for her son Ishmael from Egypt (Gen 21:21).

With all this blasphemy talk on everyone’s lips, I could not help but remember the prophecies in Revelation 12 and Daniel 7 & 11. In Revelation 13 the antichrist is given a great mouth to boast blasphemies against God. In Revelation 13:5-6 blasphemy is written three times. In Revelation 13:1 he is also called a blasphemer. Daniel 11:36 prophesies that he will say unheard-of things against the God of gods! Thessalonians 2:4 says he will oppose God and exalt himself and proclaim himself to be God! Blasphemy defines this coming Man of Sin! Blasphemy saturates every moment of the Tribulation!

How is all this significant? I’m not sure of the big picture yet. I feel that this global blasphemy push and the elevated name in print are something though. In one sense, it is significant because it shows how global the ummah really is. Ummah is an Arabic word for nation or community, and of course it means nation or community of Muslims. They truly see themselves as a global community of peoples, not just a local coalition of peoples. That is what Ummah means. Why else would Muslims in Sydney march against a movie made by a US resident and shown in Egypt?

As a matter of fact two days ago the Prime Minister of Pakistan called for the Ummah to unite.

Responding to the uprising against the Youtube video about Muhammad (“Innocence of Muslims) the PM said, “Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf said the Muslim Ummah needs to stand united and seek a permanent solution to ban hate speech that sows seeds of discord.”

He noted the ‘blasphemy’ also. The word blasphemy is on everyone’s lips today but it was on Jesus’s 2000 years ago. The Tribulation will be characterized by true blasphemy, against the one true God.

Christian blasphemy is defined at CARM as “speaking evil of God or denying Him some good which we should attribute to Him.  It could also be understood to be acting in any impious, mocking or contemptuous way toward any member of the Trinity.1 The word blasphemy comes from the Greek word, blasphemia, meaning “curse” or “vilifying.” 2 Blasphemy arises out of pride (Psalm 73:9,11), hatred (Psalm 74:18), injustice (Isaiah 52:5), etc.  Christ was often mistakenly accused of blasphemy by Jewish leaders (John 10:30-33).”

Muslim blasphemy is defined as “Blasphemy in Islam is any irreverent behavior toward holy personages, religious artifacts, customs, and beliefs that Muslims revere. The Quran and the hadith do not speak about blasphemy. Jurists created the offence, and they made it part of Sharia. Where Sharia pertains, the penalties for blasphemy can include fines, imprisonment, flogging, amputation, hanging, or beheading. Muslim clerics may call for the punishment of an alleged blasphemer by issuing a fatwā.”

One thing all this blasphemy talk is doing is heightening the lost people’s sensitivity for holy and unholy speech. We are beyond politically correct or incorrect speech. Now the global conversation is all about holy or unholy speech. The blasphemy talk also frames debates in religious terms.

Here is what the bible says about the coming blasphemy, the real blasphemy!

“And the dragon stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on his horns, and on each head a blasphemous name.” (Revelation 13:1)

“And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was full of blasphemous names, and it had seven heads and ten horns.” (Revelation 17:3)

“But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.” (Colossians 3:8)

I think the blasphemy talk emerging worldwide is important. We are heading toward a dark time when blasphemy against a non-existent god via a pedophile false prophet will likely protected speech but blasphemy against a Sinless and Holy God will be ripe on everyone’s lips. And watch for how people from this day forward refer to Muhammad, either verbally in news stories or in print. It’s no longer Muhammad but The Prophet Muhammad. The wicked are addicted to blasphemy:

“Remember this, that the enemy hath reproached, O LORD, and that the foolish people have blasphemed thy name.” (Psalm 74:1)

May the Holy God of Israel and He who is the Light of the World come soon!

Obama’s message to Israel- I’m not listening

Obama finds the world too noisy. Like a defiant child with fingers in his ears, he goes LA LA LA to Israel as Israel says ‘the world will change when Iran gets the bomb…’

Tonight on the news magazine program 60 Minutes, Obama said

“When it comes to our national security decisions — any pressure that I feel is simply to do what’s right for the American people. And I am going to block out — any noise that’s out there,” Obama says, according to AFP.

Isn’t that special. Our strongest ally in the most hostile part of the world is…noise. But will that classy and professional “I’m not listening” approach work when Iran bombs US?

Iranian general threatens pre-emptive strike against Israel, attacks on US bases
“In circumstances in which [the Israelis] have prepared everything for an attack, it is possible that we will make a pre-emptive attack,” he said, according to a translation posted on the website of the Egyptian daily, Al-Ahram.  He added that Iran would also attack US bases in the region, saying that the ensuing military engagement would “turn into World War III.”

Pray to God that we can bear four more months of Obama or four more years- whatever God’s plan is. Pray for our troops on bases in harm’s way. Pray for the world, especially if Iran gets the bomb. And I think they will. Pray for the rapture!

This is actually the second satellite provider to dump CNN. HOT satellite dropped CNN in Israel a year ago.

A Texas judge says civil war may come if Obama is re-elected

I read something interesting last night. Politico, the liberal news & opinion website has by now picked upon it. I want to look at this from first a secular, factual basis and then a prophetic basis. Politico’s story starts like this:

“A Texas judge said this week that a “civil war” could possibly erupt in the U.S. if President Barack Obama is reelected. “One of the things is he’s going to try to give the sovereignty of the United States away to the United Nations. What do you think the public is going to do when that happens? We are talking civil unrest, civil disobedience, possibly, possibly civil war, OK?” Lubbock County Judge Tom Head said Tuesday on FOX 34.”

Of course, the liberals will make this sound outlandish, far-fetched, and assert that the judge is a crackpot, if they haven’t done that already. But the Judge is right. I wrote about what he was alluding to four years ago on my other blog. I’m thrilled people are talking about this openly now.

Here is the context. There are two programs you need to be familiar with which dovetail into the statement the Judge made. One is the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals, and the other is US legislation titled Global Poverty Act. First, the global picture, the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDG), from Wiki–

“The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are eight international development goals that all 193 United Nations member states and at least 23 international organizations have agreed to achieve by the year 2015. The goals are:”

–eradicating extreme poverty and hunger,
–achieving universal primary education,
–promoting gender equality and empowering women
–reducing child mortality rates,
–improving maternal health,
–combating HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases,
–ensuring environmental sustainability, and
–developing a global partnership for development.

Sound nice? Well…kind yes and kinda not. “Debate has surrounded adoption of the MDGs, focusing on lack of analysis and justification behind the chosen objectives, the difficulty or lack of measurements for some of the goals, and uneven progress towards reaching the goals, among other criticisms.”

The dastardly part comes in how the United States is aiding these Millennium Development Goals. I want you to remember that the UN is not a friend to the US and is openly hostile to Israel. It is a global organization under satan’s control.

The US legislation titled the Global Poverty Act is a dear piece of legislation to Obama, and is ideologically ground zero to his plans because the bill he proposed is specifically geared to supporting the UN Millennium Development Goals. He is totally on board with the MDG. What is the crime in that, you ask? Read on, and it is not only a crime but in my opinion, a HIGH CRIME. Here is the American Thinker’s summary of the US Global Poverty Act bill:

“On December 7, 2007, Obama introduced the Senate version of the Global Poverty Act of 2007 (S.2433). On February 13, the bill cleared the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, on which Obama and 6 (Biden, Dodd, Feingold, Hagel, Lugar, Menendez) of the bill’s 9 co-sponsors serve. The House version of the bill (H.R.1302) passed by a unanimous voice vote last September 25 [2007].

“Here’s an abstract of the proposed legislation”:

“To require the President to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the United States foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the [U.N.] Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day.”

“If enacted, how much of a financial commitment would that represent to taxpayers?”

“One estimate is 0.7% of gross national product, or an additional $845 billion over 13 years in addition to existing foreign aid expenditures. So far, this proposal is barely on the MSM radar, but we’re likely hear more about it as a full Senate vote approaches.”

“Obama said of his bill, “With billions of people living on just dollars a day around the world, global poverty remains one of the greatest challenges and tragedies the international community faces,” said Senator Obama. “It must be a priority of American foreign policy to commit to eliminating extreme poverty and ensuring every child has food, shelter, and clean drinking water. As we strive to rebuild America’s standing in the world, this important bill will demonstrate our promise and commitment to those in the developing world. Our commitment to the global economy must extend beyond trade agreements that are more about increasing corporate profits than about helping workers and small farmers everywhere.”

The American Thinker editorialized at this point in their article, saying to the above, “In other words, other nations will like us better if we give them our money. And, our trade agreements should not be about business profit, but benevolent social action.”

Sound like Obama? I thought so. It is taxation without representation. So why is it a high crime to give 0.7% of GNP to an outside entity who will call the shots with our money? I believe it is a high crime because it cedes US sovereignty to an entity outside the US. It subsumes the US interests to a so-called higher authority without the US people voting to do so. Sovereignty is the quality of having supreme, independent authority over a geographic area, such as a territory. For centuries past, the idea that a state could be sovereign was always connected to its ability to guarantee the best interests of its own citizens. [sovereignty definition from Wikipedia]. Giving a portion of the US interests to the UN to control and then worse, be allowed to raise a tax on us without our say-so, is therefore the high crime of treason due to deliberate loss of US sovereignty. This assessment is my opinion.

The bill died in Senate committee and was never passed, but I wanted to bring it up because it is essential that you understand where Obama’s heart is and where his heart always has been. It is NOT to reduce poverty. The bill, if it had passed, would have ceded sovereignty to the United Nations. DO NOT let concept that pass unnoticed!

On May 31, 2008, I’d written on The Quiet Life,
“The Global Poverty Act” would require the U.S. to initially direct .7 percent of the GNP of the United States into the United Nations coffers for distribution as they see fit, for food to third world nations. Under earlier agreements this would evolve into a national tax on the U.S. with the UN attempting to levy this on all first world nations. The U.N. would have the power to increase this rate of taxation. The U.S. would be required to surrender some of its sovereignty over foreign aid by putting it under UN control. The bill would force the U.S. to sign onto the U.N.’s Millennium Declaration, which would commit us not only to “banning small arms and light weapons” but many other collective acts. In other words, the very act of voluntary charity would then be under the control of government ownership.”

Whenever I hear words like “collective” and “global” I think ‘socialism.’ And do you know from when I hear these ideas the most lately? From Barack Obama. Back in 2008, saying Obama is a socialist got you soundly crushed on debate boards and anywhere else you “dared” to say it. But people with two eyes and a love for America spotted the buzz words right away, and just a little digging unearthed the Global Poverty Act. A bit more digging linked the Global Poverty Act to the Millennium Development Goals. It was all there for any person to research.

A few months before Obama was elected I wrote about it again,

On Oct 22, 2008 on The Quiet Life, I wrote about this Global Poverty Act, saying,
“A report from Cliff Kincaid at Accuracy in Media published a critique asserting that while the Obama-sponsored Global Poverty Act sounds nice, the adoption would “result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States” and would make levels “of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations.” It dedicates 0.7 percent of the U.S. gross national product to foreign aid, which over 13 years he said would amount to $845 billion “over and above what the U.S. already spends.” The UN could raise that tax on the US at will, and spend it at will, with no say from the US, which is taxation without representation. It’s also forced charity.”

I was outraged that Obama would propose ceding sovereignty to a global, non-governmental organization. I thought that any sensible person would not vote for him. But he was elected, much to my shame. Author, philosopher, and frequent defender of capitalism and of promoter of free speech, Edward Cline, was outraged, too. He wrote,

“I rarely write commentary from anger, preferring a properly objective, pseudo-dispassionate approach to a subject deserving my attention. But news of the details, nature and scope of pending legislation in the U.S. Senate has caused me to make an exception to that rule.”

I feel your pain, Mr Cline. Continuing:

RE Obama’s 2007 legislation the Global Poverty Act, Cline said, “Americans will be delivered into a state of indentured servitude as laborers for the UN. Perhaps “indentured servitude” is too kind a term, for as horrendous a condition as it is, there is usually a time limit to such servitude. Slavery would be the more accurate term in this instance, for what Congress is considering is servitude by Americans in perpetuity, in exchange for nothing but the privilege of laboring to “save” the world without thanks or reward, of filling the alleged needs of others, of performing unlimited “community service” for the offense of merely existing.”

H.R. 1302 passed the House by voice vote, but was killed in committee in the senate.

You might be breathing a sigh of relief, because Obama’s 2007 bill has not passed and never will, apparently. Do not breathe a sigh of relief. The bill is merely an external representation of the hatred Obama has for this great nation, for capitalism, for the future of its people, and for life and liberty itself.

Texas Judge Tom Head nailed it. He knows full well what is ahead for America. Anyone saying what the Judge said in 2008 at the height of Obama’s Hope N Change stupidity would likely have been run out of town on a rail, but today, today we see how far we have fallen. After all, “You didn’t build that.”

Judge Head said, if Obama is re-elected, “Now what happens? What happens? Now I’m not talking just talking riots here and there. I’m talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms, get rid of the dictator. OK, what do you think he is going to do when that happens? He is going to call in the U.N. troops, personnel carriers, tanks and weapons,” Head added.

The American Thinker said of Obama’s Global Poverty Bill, “He says, “It’s not too late to claim the American dream,” and they cheer wildly, and some even cry. Don’t they know that the American dream isn’t a wish granted by a politician, or an entitlement from the government? Do they need a political seer to tell them what to hope for, and dream of, because they are unable to find it for themselves?”

Yes. Yes they do need someone to tell them. And the bible tells us they will find it in the antichrist.

Why are they are unable to find hope for themselves? They can’t find it because it only comes with Jesus. Only Jesus is hope. (1 Tim 1:1; Titus 2:13). Yet those without Jesus and thus are without hope keep hoping the next politician will offer that elusive hope to them and then really come through with it. In the end, one politician WILL come through, the antichrist. But in the end he will only bring hope’s first cousin, disappointment, and then he will bring death for the unsaved, where there will be no hope forever.

You might be thinking, after this long slog through legislative bills and global programs, old news and Texas Judges, that I am exaggerating. I am not. Look to the bible to see our future. A one world government will exist, led by one man, supported by one false prophet, and will initially offer that elusive hope to the world. The whole world will go after the beast, even the Jews. (Rev 13:13; Rev 18:23). For a global infrastructure to be in force, the world has to have been prepared to accept it. Obama is part of that preparation.

The judge is right. There will be civil war. Jesus said the time of the end will be characterized by war (Matthew 24:6; Revelation 6:4). Nation will rise against nation, but people will rise against people, even internally inside a nation. (Mt 24:7). The world will be in such disarray that when the antichrist proposes whatever solutions he proposes, the people will clamor for them. Global rule will come- it is prophesied.

From what quarter will it come? The vehicle for global rule could emanate from the Vatican. The Vatican is the seat of the pope, who is an absolute monarch on earth, who rules with impunity until he dies or resigns, and governs the world’s largest non-governmental agency, having a tight organizational infrastructure in every nation on every continent.

The global rule could come from the United Nations, another large, non-governmental entity with tentacles in each nation on earth. Wiki explains, “The United Nations Charter gives the United Nations Security Council the power and responsibility to take collective action to maintain international peace and security. For this reason, the international community sometimes looks to the U.N. Security Council to authorize peacekeeping operations.”

1 Thessalonians 5:3 says, “While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.”

Did you catch that? The UN Security Council’s charge is to maintain “peace and security.”

And don’t forget NATO’s army. The groundwork for global rule could come from the generals among that large, international army.

The vehicle on which the antichrist rides to global dictatorship could come from a heretofore unknown or unsuspected quarter. But it will come. And Obama will be leading the charge, I guarantee it. Listen to that Texas Judge, listen to those who are saying the time is near. Listen to the Holy Spirit prompting you toward repentance. THEN you will really have hope, because you will have Jesus! His hope is sure. If you don’t repent, all you’ll be stuck with is Obama, and where is his hope and change now?

What’s up with that? 20 people faint at Obama speech

More than 20 people faint at Obama rally
“The pool report on President Obama’s trip to Roanoke, Virginia says that more than 20 people fainted during the president’s speech this evening. “TV viewers may have heard POTUS pointed out a couple of faintings during the rally in downtown Roanoke,” writes the pool report. “In fact, fire officials say more than 20 people fell out during the course of the speech. There were waves of exclamation as one person after another swooned.” Paramedics treated 21 people on the scene and took one to the hospital, according to the Roanoke fire department. It was warm out and the crowd of 3,000-plus was packed tightly into the 4-block area, the deputy fire marshal said by way of explanation. Volunteers passed around cups of water but some people didn’t take them, he said.”

One after another fainted? ‘By way of explanation’ is what gets me. They try to explain, but they can’t. It is a phenomenon. I wonder why people faint when Obama looks at them? I have my theories. I am sure you have yours. In any case, I can’t wait for the rapture…

Egyptian President Mursi speaks in Tahrir Square

Mr Mursi will be sworn in tomorrow, Saturday, June 30, 2012. In advance of the event he made a speech today from Tahrir Square.

Well attended would be an understatement.

Obama made a speech in Berlin in 2008.

It was also well-attended. Today, Mursi has become the new Obama.

The world looks to a savior…when they already have one.

Obama’s Messiah complex continues: he’s now the National Groom

Obama didn’t call himself Messiah, but he certainly didn’t make any attempt to dispel the notion. The name was attributed to him many times, as here, “A messiah won’t be landing at the Heliopolis airport Thursday. Nonetheless, the expectations raised by Obama’s brief visit to Cairo are almost messianic.”

Or here, “Obama, a junior senator, the son of a white mother and a Kenyan father, has been happy to run as a black man and, more important, as America’s new messiah.”

He was depicted as such in paintings, here, for example.

He was photographed as such, here, for example.

Lately a spate of unusual and frankly, weird, statements have emerged that surpass the language, visual depictions and opinions of Obama as Messiah. News bloggers and editorialists can’t figure out how or why this new language is now entering the pantheon of Obama-descriptors. But I can. Any Christian would spot it a mile away.

Why not? Isn’t the Messiah also known as the GROOM? (Isaiah 54:5,6; Jeremiah 3:14;31:32; Hosea 2:19-20; Revelation 21:2). And we aren’t all going to have a marriage supper? It is a perfectly logical (blasphemous) continuation of the prophetic/biblical language Obama likes to employ.

What is the big deal about Obama’s change of opinion on gay marriage?

This week Obama came out and said openly that he now supports gay marriage. This caused a political earthquake in America and around the world. Some rushed in with money to support him so any potential second term may gain them political advantage of turning their deviancy into law. Some said his stance shows “moral leadership.”

The pressure ramped up on other world leaders, who immediately were pressed into stating, or re-stating their views. At once, the wolves circled the Australia Prime Minister, who had to ‘defend’ her views against gay marriage. The UK was pressed to follow Obama’s ‘lead.’

In all cases though, we know that his open stance set a global precedent. And not just for gay marriage, but also for gay adoption and ultimately for redefinition of the foundational rock of our culture: families united under God.

Now we know that Obama’s change in stance, or “evolution” as he calls it, is simply a crafty accession to a political timing. I mean, everyone could see this coming, and Southern Baptist Preacher and president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary Al Mohler said essentially we all knew where Obama stood from the beginning and it was only a matter of time until he came out for gay marriage unequivocally.

So on that last basis, people are saying, since we all knew this was coming, what’s the big deal?

Well, it IS a big deal. Franklin Graham said of Obama’s shift toward public and government support of gay marriage:

““President Obama has, in my view, shaken his fist at the same God who created and defined marriage. It grieves me that our president would now affirm same-sex marriage, though I believe it grieves God even more,” Graham said in a statement. “This is a sad day for America. May God help us,” he said.

Here is why Obama’s change from a likely stance toward acceptance of gay marriage to an affirmed stance of homosexual unions codified under the force of law is a big deal: it’s public sin.

Graham is right when he says America has shaken her fist at God. God does not tolerate flaunted sin. He is grieved over all sin, of course, national and individual, but to openly defy God’s law regarding marriage and the family, affirming sin at the national level, takes it up a notch. God had even made a provision for a distinction between unintentional sin and defiant sin in Old Testament Law and he set rules for atonement for each:

“But if just one person sins unintentionally, he must bring a year-old female goat for a sin offering. The priest is to make atonement before the Lord for the one who erred by sinning unintentionally, and when atonement has been made for him, he will be forgiven. One and the same law applies to everyone who sins unintentionally, whether he is a native-born Israelite or an alien. But anyone who sins defiantly, whether native-born or alien, blasphemes the Lord, and that person must be cut off from his people. Because he has despised the Lord’s word and broken his commands, that person must surely be cut off; his guilt remains on him.” (Numbers 15:27-31).

And no one can say that homosexual unions under government establishment and approval is an unintentional sin. Look at this verse from 2 Peter 2:6-10–

“If he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)— if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment. This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful natured and despise authority.”

The authority spoken of here is God’s authority, lordship authority and the celestial hierarchies.

So no one can say they were unaware that homosexuality is a sin. We were given an actual example of what is going to happen to the ungodly, and were then told that this will happen again to the ungodly because they had not heeded that example. In the case of Sodom and Gomorrah (and Admah and Zeboiim as per Deuteronomy 29:23) an entire region was destroyed due to public and flagrant sin. In the case of the US, remember that Obama is an elected representative of  the majority of 311 million people and a representative speaks for the majority of the people. So this week Obama publicly and intentionally flouted God’s law for the sanctity of marriage the way He has ordained in the bible.

So you can see that it is not just a matter of one guy changing his mind about how he feels about homosexual marriage. It is a matter of a man who was elected to lead the most blessed nation on earth (after Israel) who represents and speaks for the majority of them, a king of the world, who is supposed to righteously govern according to God’s standards but instead publicly flaunts God’s ordinances. He has shaken his fist at God.

We consistently kill millions of unborn babies despite being told not to pass our children through the fire and sacrifice them. (Leviticus 18:21). We affirm deviancy. We allow ‘no-fault’ divorce. We make empty professions of faith and practice idolatry. When the gay-promoters lash out at the bible believers they call us “intolerant.” They will soon discover how INTOLERANT God Himself is toward sin. Nineveh was smote for wickedness. Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim was smote for homosexuality and wickedness. Israel was punished for empty religion and flouting or abandoning God’s laws. God judged the world because “the wickedness of man was great in the earth” (Genesis 6:5a). America is no different than any other nation or the world.

But let’s bring our attention to a part of the verse that is a promise. The first part of the verse spoke about condemnation. The second part is a promise. Here is 2 Peter 2:6-9a:

He KNOWS how grieved we are to hear these things. He KNOWS how trapped we feel, we who did not elect him and who do not hold to these deviant standards. He KNOWS we are distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men. He KNOWS. He rescues the godly. He rescues.

Did he not rescue Noah, that righteous man, perfect in his generations? Did He not rescue Lot? Does He not promise to rescue us from the coming wrath? (1 Thessalonians 1:10). We are not appointed to wrath. (1 Thessalonians 5:9).

So? What is God waiting for? 2 Peter 3:7-9 has the answer–

“But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

God waited for 400 years to judge the Canaanites. He waited until the fourth generation of the Amorites, until their iniquity was full. (Gen 15:16).

However at a certain point a nation does cross the line. Has America crossed it? As Franklin Graham said, Marriage “was defined not by man, but by God Himself. … This is a sad day for America. May God help us.”

Stuck with Pharaoh, we long for Solomon

I notice a pattern in the news stories about American politics. At the risk of being too America-centric with respect to applying prophetic indicators, let me say for the record that though the news excerpts below are about the American President, this by no stretch means that these indicators are absent from other global rulers.

Indeed, we have seen what fury the people participating in the Arab Spring/Days Of Rage wrought on Libya’s Qaddafi, Egypt’s Mubarak, and other rulers in Africa and the Middle East. We saw how nervous the kings of Bahrain and Jordan became during that revolutionary time. The Bahraini king even gave a large sum of money to each family in his kingdom to calm them down and to buy time. We see the population’s discontent with the (sexual) excesses of Italy’s Berlusconi, and that France’s Sarkozy, while apparently not as excessive or oppressive, will possibly lose his runoff election this weekend due to the faltering economy.

That said, I have noticed, as you no doubt have noticed, the US leadership veering drunkenly toward excess of spending, of regulation, and of uncaring attitude toward the people. You have heard, no doubt, of the unfortunate plethora of stories where bureaucrats close down lemonade stands, rip up front yard gardens, stop garage sales. Yet those in power like Michele Obama take 17 vacations in three years and seems to have forgotten the concept of public service. But they sure do remember how to have date night. Rep. Pelosi co-opts military airplanes for trips back home. Obama parties like it’s no tomorrow.

The bible has much to say about leaders who fail to honor God and help the people. The bible is replete with events, warnings, and punishments of kings and rulers who oppress the people they are supposed to govern wisely.

Verses like this one in Leviticus 19:13 are echoed throughout the pages of the Scriptures: “You shall not oppress your neighbor or rob him. The wages of a hired servant shall not remain with you all night until the morning.”

But the leaders, kings, and rulers of today continue to seemingly prosper, while pressing their thumb of power ever deeper into our lives and ripping out what valuables they can to continue to support their lavish and wanton spending. Though it is bad now, this kind of power abuse will be rampant in the Tribulation because the restraining influence of the Holy Spirit will cease His restraint of sin, and it will blossom like mold on a gushy banana. (Revelation 18:3- “For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth have become rich through the abundance of her luxury.”)

James 5:4 says “Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, are crying out against you, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.” Revelation 6 shows the poor working all day for a loaf of bread but in Revelation 18 the ultra rich continued their trade in ivory, spices, furniture, even the souls of men throughout the Tribulation.

The gap between the rich and poor continues to grow even now, the rulers increasingly deaf to the cries to stop spending, and the love of many even in the faith waxes cold for the brother. (Matthew 24:12). Our governments are increasingly interested in the peons like us rather than solving the problems we elected them to solve. They regulate us to death and scurry off to enjoy a sexcapade or a luxurious vacation and have forgotten how to govern righteously. We are plagued with Pharaohs and enduring a famine of Solomons.

“A leader who is a great oppressor lacks understanding, But he who hates unjust gain will prolong his days.” (Proverbs 28:16).

Take this example of unhealthy governmental interest in a person’s private life:

“It’s the sort of story you expect to come from a third world superstitious kleptopcracy – yet it happened here on American soil, in North Carolina, thanks to good old fashioned state-level bureaucracy. Reason Magazine brings us the bizarre and senseless story of a Steve Cooksey, a former diabetic who put himself on the popular “Paleo” diet and decided to tell the world about his experiences, only to have the North Carolina Board of Dietetics and Nutrition (yes, that exists) come down on him: This past January the state diatetics and nutrition board decided Cooksey’s blog — Diabetes-Warrior.net — violated state law. The nutritional advice Cooksey provides on the site amounts to “practicing nutrition,” the board’s director says, and in North Carolina that’s something you need a license to do. Unless Cooksey completely rewrites his 3-year-old blog, he could be sued by the licensing board. If he loses the lawsuit and refuses to take down the blog, he could face up to 120 days in jail. The board’s director says Cooksey has a First Amendment right to blog about his diet, but he can’t encourage others to adopt it unless the state has certified him as a dietitian or nutritionist.”

Government is protecting us from our opinions. How thoughtful. Or this terrible example:

“Try this thought experiment: You decide to donate money to Mitt Romney. You want change in the Oval Office, so you engage in your democratic right to send a check. Several days later, President Barack Obama, the most powerful man on the planet, singles you out by name. His campaign brands you a Romney donor, shames you for “betting against America,” and accuses you of having a “less-than-reputable” record. The message from the man who controls the Justice Department (which can indict you), the SEC (which can fine you), and the IRS (which can audit you), is clear: You made a mistake donating that money. Are you worried?”

“Richard Nixon’s “enemies list” appalled the country for the simple reason that presidents hold a unique trust. Unlike senators or congressmen, presidents alone represent all Americans. Their powers—to jail, to fine, to bankrupt—are also so vast as to require restraint. Any president who targets a private citizen for his politics is de facto engaged in government intimidation and threats. This is why presidents since Nixon have carefully avoided the practice. Save Mr. Obama, who acknowledges no rules. This past week, one of his campaign websites posted an item entitled “Behind the curtain: A brief history of Romney’s donors.” In the post, the Obama campaign named and shamed eight private citizens who had donated to his opponent. Describing the givers as all having “less-than-reputable records,” the post went on to make the extraordinary accusations that “quite a few” have also been “on the wrong side of the law” and profiting at “the expense of so many Americans.”

Rather than knowing that they exist to lead, to govern, to inspire, to serve, the President and other rulers today oppress, indict, and steal. Nice, Obama. Nice. Yet is his own house in order? No.

Secret Service scandal: ‘Party’s over, boys'”
The Secret Service scandal involving prostitutes in Colombia has brought new orders about personal behavior – no more carousing. On some trips, agents will even have chaperones.”

Now think about this for a second. The Secret Service men who are trained to devote their life to the highest official in the land, who define self-sacrifice by committing to hurl themselves in front of a bullet, have to be chaperoned like two year olds in a candy store so they won’t hurl themselves in front of a prostitute? Whatever happened to self-possession?

“For a prostitute is a deep pit; an adulteress is a narrow well.” Proverbs 23:27
“For lack of guidance a nation falls, but many advisers make victory sure.” Proverbs 11:14
“Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross.” Proverbs 26:23

Blue-collar voter resentment building over Obama vacations?
“Blue collar Democratic voters, stuck taking depressing “staycations” because they can’t afford gas and hotels, are resentful of the first family’s 17 lavish vacations around the world and don’t want their tax dollars paying for the Obamas’ holidays, according to a new analysis of swing voters. …McLaughlin handled blue collar and Catholic voters in Pittsburgh on April 3 and Cleveland on March 20. He found that they are very depressed about the economy and feel that their tax dollars are being sucked up by both the rich and those living on government assistance.”

The bible says of kings, “But he shall not multiply horses for himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt to multiply horses, for the LORD has said to you, ‘You shall not return that way again.’ Neither shall he multiply wives for himself, lest his heart turn away; nor shall he greatly multiply silver and gold for himself.” (Deut 17:16-17).

The Deuteronomy verse expressly forbids kings to excess. Barnes Notes says “Excess is forbidden. Vast accumulation of treasure could hardly be effected without oppression; nor when effected fail to produce pride and a “trust in uncertain riches” 1 Timothy 6:17.” Kings were forbidden to use their office to heap up riches for themselves.

In the bible, there are hapless kings, apathetic kings, and kings who not only do not believe and who are sinful through and through, but who actively campaign against God. Pharaoh was such a one. Jezebel was such a one. Ahab was one too. The progression of evil kings always got worse. The next generation was worse than the one before, and so it is today. We started with Washington, Jefferson, Adams. We end up with Nixon, Clinton, Obama…

“Again I looked and saw all the oppression that was taking place under the sun: I saw the tears of the oppressed–and they have no comforter; power was on the side of their oppressors–and they have no comforter.” Ecclesiastes 4:1

So what shall become of them? Amos 5 & 6 speaks to the Day of the Lord when He deals with the unrighteous rulers who oppressed the people. They “… trample on the poor and force him to give you grain. Therefore, though you have built stone mansions, you will not live in them; though you have planted lush vineyards, you will not drink their wine.” (Amos 5:11).

“You put off the evil day and bring near a reign of terror. You lie on beds inlaid with ivory and lounge on your couches. You dine on choice lambsand fattened calves. You strum away on your harps like David and improvise on musical instruments. You drink wine by the bowlful and use the finest lotions, but you do not grieve over the ruin of Joseph. Therefore you will be among the first to go into exile; your feasting and lounging will end.” (Amos 6:3-7)

Of these Amos versesJohn MacArthur teaches, “God really indicts the rich, not because just they’re rich, but because they have become rich at the expense of the poor.”

As for us brethren, especially those in either civic or ecclesiastical positions of leadership, “So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.” (1 Thessalonians 5:6). The word sober there in Greek is nepho, “to be sober, unintoxicated” refers to having presence of mind & clear judgment, enabling someone to be self-controlled.

Apparently at the highest levels of power self-control is a thing of the past. That is what makes the Christian stand out as light and salt. (Mt 5:13-16)
