Libya’s Moammar Gadhafi is dead- Updated

Update at bottom.

Gadhafi was a tyrannical and despotic dictator who oppressed his people in Libya for 42 years. After Fidel Castro who resigned in 2008, Qaddafi was the world’s longest ruling leader. And now he is dead. Does this have anything to do with bible prophecy? Yes.

Libya is one of the nations mentioned specifically as a major player in end time prophecy. A coalition of nations will attack Israel in the last days. It includes Iran, Russia, Turkey, Armenia, Sudan, Ethiopia, and Libya along with some in “the isles”. This listing of the nations who attack Israel is found in Ezekiel 38:1-6. What happens is, Israel is unsuspecting, living with confidence in a “land of unwalled villages” (Ez 38:11) when they are sudd. The attack is going well for the coalition and very badly for Israel. Israel is on the brink of losing, God saves them, and God says that everyone will know that it was Him who saved them. (Ex 39:6-7).

It is Libya along with the other nations along the northern tier of north Africa that joins with Russia and Iran and Turkey etc to attack Israel. It is believed that this battle takes place at the very end of the last days and at the very beginning of the Tribulation. This is because, as mentioned above, Israel returns to covenant with God through this battle, having seen Him save them. “From that day forward the house of Israel will know that I am the LORD their God.” (Ez 39:22).

“‘I will make known my holy name among my people Israel. I will no longer let my holy name be profaned, and the nations will know that I the LORD am the Holy One in Israel. It is coming! It will surely take place, declares the Sovereign LORD. This is the day I have spoken of.” (Ez 39:7-8). So if Israel is back in covenant with God it means the last 7 years of the Old Testament times that have been suspended all this time will resume. The church will be gone. And it is thought to be at the very beginning of the tribulation because the verse in Ez 39:9 says they will use the fuel from the downed planes and tanks and military things for 7 years. So there has to be 7 years remaining for them to use it.

Any time there is major news about any of the Gog-Magog nations listed in Ezekiel 38-39, and also the Psalm 83 list of nations, I take notice. World events in and among the nations listed as end time or tribulation nations which are the ones that propel prophecy further along are in the news headlines almost daily now. The LORD soon comes. Are you ready? I hope so. Do not put off your repentance, asking Him to forgive your sin. I hope to see you at the Marriage supper of the Lamb in heaven.

————–UPDATE————-

Christian writer Joel C. Rosenberg write this about Gaddafi today:

“Reuters is now confirming that Muammar Gaddafi is dead. Libya’s Prime Minister has also confirmed the news. The tyrant of Tripoli — a man whose hands were soaked with blood, a man who called himself the “King of kings” — has been brought to justice. Now, in death, he knows the truth: that Jesus Christ is the King of kings and Lord of lords. As an evangelical Christian, I will pray for his family and colleagues, that the Lord would comfort and console them and that they would repent of their sins and receive Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.”

“Now there are new concerns: Will Libyan people — so badly oppressed for so many years — truly be set free, or enslaved by leaders as bad or worse than Gaddafi? Where is Libya headed next? Will the rebels ally themselves with the West, or with the Radical jihadists of Iran, Sudan and al Qaeda? The mullahs in Tehran have been seizing the initiative and moving strategically in recent months to exploit the chaos in Libya and build an alliance with the rebels. They are eager to build an anti-American, anti-Israeli coalition throughout the Middle East and North Africa to lay the groundwork for an Islamic caliphate. What’s more, the mullahs in Tehran believe the fall of leaders in Libya, Tunisia and Egypt are prophetic signs that the Twelfth Imam’s arrival is soon, as explained in the Iranian documentary film, “The Coming Is Upon Us,” released earlier this year.”

10,000 barrels of yellowcake uranium found in Libya, shocking observers (UPDATED)

UPDATE: Also this news from ABC tonight:
Nightmare in Libya: Thousands of Surface-to-Air Missiles Unaccounted For
“The White House announced today it planned to expand a program to secure and destroy Libya’s huge stockpile of dangerous surface-to-air missiles, following an ABC News report that large numbers of them continue to be stolen from unguarded military warehouses.” [emphasis mine]

Sigh. The civil war in Libya has spawned a free-for-all plundering of stockpiled military weapons of mass destruction, it seems.

Libya is a Gog Magog nation, a nation that Ezekiel 38:5 prophesies will attack Israel in the last days. This means it is aggressive, and it has the means to join a coalition that includes Turkey which has the second largest army in NATO, and Russia, America’s traditional counter-superpower.

While all eyes have been in Iran’s nuclear program, Syria’s chemical program, and Israel’s diplomatic program, 10,000 barrels of uranium yellowcake was discovered in Sahba, Libya- unguarded. Iran is reportedly very interested in what is happening in the area, which was unsecured until two days ago. Many barrels are open. If this material, which is worth a fortune on the black market, fell into the wrong hands it would be devastating.

Yellowcake is used in the preparation of uranium fuel for nuclear reactors, for which it is smelted into purified UO2 for use in fuel rods for pressurized heavy-water reactors and other systems that use natural unenriched uranium. (source)

AL Jazeera English has the story, which opens with a few sentences and continues on video. The prophecy in Revelation 6:4 that peace will be taken from the earth is getting easier and easier to see nearing.

Turkey-Israel relationship deteriorating

Anyone who reads the bible knows the end from the beginning. In many cases we don’t know how the LORD will perform a certain thing that is prophesied to come to pass, but we know it will, because He said it will. In other cases, we do know how, we know who, and we even have a general time frame when.

For example, we know that Israel and Turkey will wind up enemies. In Ezekiel 38-39 it is prophesied that Turkey will be an aggressor against Israel, along with Russia, Armenia, Iran, Libya, Sudan and others. (Ez 38:3-6). They attack Israel. It is a surprise attack, at a moment when Israel thinks she can let down her guard. (Ez 38:11). Therefore it is especially devastating, and Israel almost loses the battle. But the LORD intervenes personally and Israel is saved. The world knows it is the LORD’s power that defeated Israel’s enemies, and not anything else. (Ez 38:22-23; Ez 39:6)

So over the last decade as Turkey had moved to a more democratic and less Muslim form of government and civic outlook, and seemed to be gravitating to the West in their persistent requests to become part of the EU, people who study prophecy knew that it would not last. We just did not know when the relationship would dissipate into a downward spiral of mistrust and hatred. It seems that that time is now.

Just before the Labor Day weekend, Turkey recalled its Ambassador from Turkey and began to engage in a diplomatic cold war. Arutz Sheva reports:

Turkey Declares Diplomatic Cold War on Israel
“Turkey has unofficially declared a diplomatic cold war, recalling its ambassador and threatening to charge Israel in the International Court. Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Davutoglu announced on Friday that Ankara was not only recalling its ambassador but also “will reduce its level of diplomatic representation in Israel to that of second secretary, a lower rank than consul. … Turkey is suspending all military agreements with Israel…”

The split has begun. Even more dramatic, was two days later when Turkey shockingly harassed incoming Israelis at the airport. Yedioth News reports,

Israelis held in Istanbul airport
About 40 Israeli passengers on board a Turkish Airlines flight from Tel Aviv to Istanbul were held for several hours by local police on Monday after their passports had been taken away from them. The passengers said that the Turkish police officers were disrespectful, claiming that such an incident was unprecedented. “I think that the police officers didn’t even know what they were looking for,” one of the passengers told Ynet. “They apparently got an order to detain us, one by one. Everyone was in shock; we didn’t know what they were going to do to us. Obviously this was done intentionally in order to create an unpleasant feeling.”

In addition to personally harassing Israelis, the Turkish government decided to harass Israel militarily, also.

Turkey navy to escort aid ships to Palestinians in Gaza
Turkish officials tell Hurriyet Daily News that Turkish navy will strengthen presence in eastern Mediterranean Sea to stop Israeli ‘bullying’.

In an even more provoking mood, Turkey is planning to visit Egypt, but to also visit the Gaza Strip. This is one step too far, as Israel is concerned.

‘Erdogan visit to Gaza would hurt Turkey-US ties’
“A senior Israeli official on Sunday warned that it would be a diplomatic mistake for Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit the Gaza Strip as reports in the Turkish and Arab media suggested he was considering doing. The Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported on Sunday that Erdogan will pay a two-day visit to Egypt beginning September 12 and may subsequently cross the border into the Gaza Strip. … Turkish Deputy Premier Bulent Arinc stated that the visit was expected to produce important decisions reflecting the strength of relations between Turkey and Egypt.”

And today, the Washington Post wonders, “Turkey and Israel: Can they repair the relationship?

They sum up, “With Erdogan in charge, a return to the good old days is highly unlikely. But Turkey, for now at least, needs to perform a balancing act — remaining on good terms with the United States, feeding its domestic audience a steady diet of anti-Zionist rhetoric and not entirely jettisoning the relationship with the Jewish state. With Syria’s Bashar al-Assad under siege and the rest of the Middle East convulsed in turmoil, Turkey may find it unwise to sulk for too long. Who knows which of Ankara’s allies will survive? Perhaps cooler heads and a desire to keep at least one foot firmly planted in the West will temper the Turks’ response.”

Hope springs eternal, doesn’t it? I hope that the people in these nations will find peace, I pray that they do. But any lull or temporary softening of the harsh stances will be short lived, because we know the end from the beginning.

Egypt suffers dreadful losses during the Tribulation, and a final defeat as a nation by Israel. (Isaiah 19:16-17). However, the LORD blesses Egypt at the beginning of the Millennium, along with Israel and Assyria. Egypt turns to the LORD en masse. They still must endure a 40 year desolation, (Ezekiel 29:8-16) they are welcomed back to the LORD after that.

Turkey does not fare as well. At the Gog-Magog battle, “I will execute judgment on him with plague and bloodshed. I will pour out torrential rain, hailstones, fire, and brimstone on him, as well as his troops and the many peoples who are with him.”

The above articles all happened within the last few days. The relationship between Turkey and Israel is devolving fast. Hopefully the rapture is right behind.

Men of destiny, men of prophecy

The Gog Magog battle looms before us. This is the battle that Ezekiel prophesied in Ez 38-39. If you read Ezekiel 36-48, it is largely chronological. Book 36 begins with the New Covenant, (Ez 36:26-28). Then it skips ahead 1900 years where in the next two chapters he describes a horrendous battle of an evil alliance attacking Israel. It is such a surprise to Israel that they are caught off guard and almost succumb. At the last moment, God steps in–

“And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.” (Ezekiel 38:22-23).

Just in case we’re not sure that all will know that it is the LORD winning the battle, He repeats His promise in verse Ez 39:6-7- “And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD. So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.”

And again in Ez 39:21-22- “And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them. So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward.”

The rest of Ezekiel 39 is consumed with graphic descriptions of the carnage and the cleanup. The burials will take 7 months to complete, and the fuel from downed war materiel take 7 years to burn. That is one of the major reasons scholars think the Gog-Magog battle occurs at the outset of the Tribulation, or just prior, because the Tribulation period is 7 years. There has to be seven years left in which to burn the fuel. Also, the LORD makes Himself known to the Israelites and they renew their covenant with Him. They begin clamoring for their Temple, which we know is built at some point because 3 1/2 years later the antichrist stands in the Temple and calls himself God and stops the Jews’ sacrifices.

Ezekiel goes on in books 40-48 with glorious descriptions of the Millennium Kingdom.

In this battle, Persia (Iran) is one of the lead attackers, along with Russia. America is not listed in prophecy, but the US was raised up in might and we have used that might to cause a tipping of the balance in the Muslim world through ten years of invasions. These invasions are leading to the final set-up of the players and the circumstances that will be in place when the Gog-Magog battle begins.

That said, I found it interesting that recently a top aide of Russia’s President Putin said that he thinks Putin was sent by God at this moment in time to fulfill a pre-ordained prophetic destiny. Secondly, in March of this year, an inside documentary was made by the closest associates of Iran’s Ayatollah but smuggled out from the East. The documentary revealed that both the Ayatollah of Iran and President Ahmadinejad personally feel that they are specific players in the prophetic destiny of Iran. And finally, it has long been known that President George Bush felt strongly that his invasion of Iraq was an order from God that would directly lead to impacts on Israel. In a sense, they are all correct. Read the quotes:

PUTIN
“Prime Minister Vladimir Putin was sent to Russia by God to help his country during one of its most turbulent times, the Kremlin’s chief political strategist said on Friday in rare public remarks. “I honestly believe that Putin is a person who was sent to Russia by fate and by the Lord at a difficult time for Russia,” Vladislav Surkov, a staunch Putin supporter and one of Russia’s most powerful men, was quoted by Interfax news agency as telling state-run Chechen TV. “(Putin was) preordained by fate to preserve our peoples,” said Surkov, who is also the Kremlin’s first deputy chief of staff.”

AHMADINEJAD
“The purpose of the film is to make the case that Iran is prophetically destined to lead the war against Islam’s enemies, which is as a prelude to the appearance of the Hidden Imam, also called the Mahdi, who brings the final victory for Islam and reigns over the whole world. It uses current events to argue that “the final chapter has begun” and the Mahdi’s arrival is imminent. Most disturbingly, it teaches that Khamenei, Ahmadinejad and Nasrallah are the individuals prophesied to make this happen. President Ahmadinejad is an End Times character named Shoeib-Ebne Saleh, the film states. He is appointed as the commander-in-chief by Seyed Khorasani (Ayatollah Khamenei). The speaker in the film says that this individual will “move” 72 months [6 years] prior to the arrival of the Mahdi and will lead the recapturing of Jerusalem on “the threshold of the Coming.”

In Muslim end time theology, the Mahdi is strikingly similar to the Christian antichrist. So it makes sense that Iran’s leaders feel not only prophetically destined but the timing is also nearly a mirror match for the timing of the Gog-Magog battle.

BUSH
“George Bush has claimed he was on a mission from God when he launched the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq, according to a senior Palestinian politician in an interview to be broadcast by the BBC later this month. Bush revealed the extent of his religious fervour when he met a Palestinian delegation during the Israeli-Palestinian summit at the Egpytian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, four months after the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003. One of the delegates, Nabil Shaath, who was Palestinian foreign minister at the time, said: “President Bush said to all of us: ‘I am driven with a mission from God’. God would tell me, ‘George go and fight these terrorists in Afghanistan’. And I did. And then God would tell me ‘George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq’. And I did.” Mr Bush went on: “And now, again, I feel God’s words coming to me, ‘Go get the Palestinians their state and get the Israelis their security, and get peace in the Middle East’. And, by God, I’m gonna do it.”

The LORD sets up kings and he takes down kings. (Dan 2:21). He uses all men for His purposes, whether they are saved or not. He uses people for His global purpose, and He uses people individually to prepare us. God uses negative circumstances for His outcomes. He doesn’t need to make a positive circumstance every time. There are many examples of this in the bible. God has been actively working in the lives of all people on the planet to prepare for the culmination of His promises to Israel and the end of the age. I believe we can see it in hindsight over the last ten years with the rise of Russia, Iran, and the invasions of the US into the Middle east. What do you think?

Note: Terry James has a good essay this week about one of the other major Gog-Magog players, and their drawing-in toward prophetic destiny: Turkey.

Africa: Worst drought in 60 years: 12 million fight for survival

A massive drought which has swept across Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia is causing severe famine. Twelve million people are fighting for survival at this moment, and countless wildlife and cattle are dying as the land is increasingly unable to sustain them. The linked article mentions mother nature within the first few sentences, but we know that prophecy tells us that famine will be a hallmark of the last days. (Mt 24:7). Famine is one of God’s four sore judgments. (Ezekiel 14:21). The place where the worst of the drought is occurring is the Horn of Africa, which is here:

In prophecy, the Gog Magog war is generally considered to occur at the outset of the Tribulation, or even the catalyst for the Tribulation. The prophesied nations that participate are Russia, Iran, and the nations along the northern tier of Africa, including the ones depicted at the Horn of Africa: Sudan, Ethiopia (Cush, Put, Libya, Ez 38-29). Interestingly as well, Sudan today split into a northern Sudan and a Southern Sudan. There are now 193 nations in the world. Bloomberg wrote, “After almost 50 years of rebellion against the Muslim north, independent South Sudan will assume control of about 75 percent of Sudan’s daily production of 490,000 barrels of oil, pumped mainly by China National Petroleum Corp…” Are there any takers on just which part of Sudan will take part in the Gog-Magog battle? Muslim north, or free south? (See map below)

Things are moving fast. The nations prophesied as players in the last days are increasingly in the news. One can almost see the chess pieces moved into place as the events long-prophesied begin to start their engines. I had started to write about the effects of drought and famine but I cropped the information I just spent 3 hours writing to write this instead. I’ll probably re-write it into a different essay later. I thought it was very interesting about the famine in Africa, and Sudan splitting in the face of the imminence of the Gog-Magog battle (Ezekiel 38-39.

If you go to the headline link be aware that there are disturbing images..saddening and emotionally trying. Please pray for our brothers and sisters who are missionaries in these places, and pray for the lost there, that though their bodies may be failing from famine, that their souls will find eternal refreshment at the Fount of Life.

Posted in end time, gog magog, ottomans, prophecy, revelation

The Ottomans are back. Are they Revelation’s 7th kingdom?

There is a difficult prophetic passage in Revelation, some say the most difficult. Revelation 17:9-11 says-

“Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time. The beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to perdition.” (Revelation 17:9-11)

Oh, boy, where do you start? OK, in the first phrase, it says ‘here is wisdom.’ To me, that means that the interpretation won’t be easy or obvious. It will take deeper study, but that it will be revealed to the one who seeks wisdom. James 1:5 makes that promise.

Next, “Mountains”. In biblical symbolism, mountains represent kingdoms or strong, powerful governments. When it says THE mountain, like in Isaiah 2:2-4, it means Jesus’ government. “It shall come to pass in the last days that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains.”

“The seven” past kingdoms (empires) are generally accepted to be Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Greece, Media-Persia and Rome past and/or Rome to come, or perhaps someone else. “The eighth” seems to be the antichrist which is part of the seventh.

Remember that in Daniel’s interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar’s statue of the kingdoms (Dan 2:31-35), it was gold at the head, silver at the chest and arms, bronze torso and thighs, legs of iron and feet of a mixture of clay and iron. A side note, you notice two things of the statue’s metals: as they progress from head to toe, the metals become less expensive. Gold is the most precious metal, iron the least. Clay is worth nothing at all. But they also become stronger. Gold is the softest metal but iron is strongest.

The legs of iron are generally thought to be the split Roman empire. The Romans split their empire in 330AD when they allowed Constantinople to become a sister capital, and the kingdom was split east and west. (The feet of iron and clay are thought to the coming Tribulation kingdom.) So let’s look at Constantinople.

Now known as Istanbul, it is located in Turkey and is its largest city. Wikipedia says Istanbul has served as the capital of the Roman Empire (330–395), the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire (395–1204 and 1261–1453), the Latin Empire (1204–1261), and the Ottoman Empire (1453–1922). That’s a lot of empires! It was also chosen as a joint European Capital of Culture for 2010-2011, and as such organized cultural events with a strong European dimension. Yet…Istanbul is not European, and despite its long desire to align with the west, that desire has been thwarted.

Though Turkey was one of the first countries to become a member of the Council of Europe in 1949, a predecessor to the EU, and is now an associate member of the EU, it has been denied full membership ever since its application in 1987. It seems that the two legs of the Roman empire are still split, though it is part of the body of historically precedent empires and loosely connected to the west, is not the west.

The Turks figure into end time prophecy as the nation who aligns finally with the east. They come together with Armenia, Russia, Iran, and northern Africa and others to attack Israel. Their final status as an Israel-hater is certain. The journey from  been a tumultuous one ever since Paul’s missionary days into Asia Minor, which Turkey is still known as (also Anatolia). The question is, how does Turkey get from here to there?

Ezekiel 38:6 says that Gomer and the house of beth-Togarmah join the Gog-Magog attack. I interpret Gomer to be Turkey and beth-Togarmah as Armenia. You can research the historical/biblical names here, and here, and directly from the bible here and here. Turkey reverts to her roots in the last days, no matter the Western overlay this generation has come to see Turkey outwardly present.

Now to the original verse in Revelation. The verse says that there were/are 7 kingdoms. Some say the 7th both are Rome, and some say that the 7th could be the Ottoman Empire. Note the last part of the Revelation verse, ‘the beast is the eighth AND is of the seven’ could be satisfied by a ruler from the eastern leg of the statue that was part of Roman empire but not Rome.

The Ottomans existed as an empire for 500 years, disappearing in 1922 with the cessation of the office of Caliph (Ruler of all Muslims). Jack Kelley explores the notion of the Ottomans as 7th Revelation Kingdom, here. He said in part, “There are already some who believe the 7th Kingdom of Rev. 17:10 is the Ottoman Empire, and point out that Constantinople is also a city on seven hills. If so, its loyalty to Islam would confirm the identity of the one world End Times religion, and could also support the idea of an Islamic anti-Christ, the one some call al-Mahdi. As details of Islamic eschatology become more widely known, prophecy students are discovering a striking similarity between descriptions of al Mahdi and the anti-Christ.”

John MacArthur said in his sermon “The Grim Reality of the Last Days“, “Now somebody might say, “Well, when you think about the future and what’s going to happen in the world, don’t we have a revived Roman Empire? Doesn’t that mean the west? You remember that the image in Daniel 2 of the final world empire had two legs and the Roman Empire had the west and the east? You know, of course, if you know history that the western part of the Roman Empire basically dissolved and the east survived for a thousand years or more so that at the time of the New Testament, sixty percent of the Roman Empire was land that is now under Muslim control…at least 60 percent. The vast majority of the Roman Empire in New Testament times is today under Muslim control and Islam is moving across the west rapidly in Europe, isn’t it? When you have a picture in Ezekiel 38, you have a picture of the Antichrist, Gog and you have the listing of eight nations, that will be a coalition for the Antichrist. All eight of those are Muslim nations, all eight of them. And they ring the Mediterranean to Libya. In Revelation 17:9 to 11 it says there were six kingdoms and then a seventh and finally an eighth. What is the seventh? Well there’s been a discussion about that, it well could be the Ottoman Turk Empire which lasted five hundred years and didn’t really fall until the modern era. The Turkish Empire was the last Caliphate which ended in 1923 and they’re waiting for the restoration when the Mahdi comes.”

What I’m saying is, the bible shows us that Turkey is a powerful and influential nation in the Gog-Magog battle. We saw Turkey’s influence come to the fore last year in the Gaza Flotilla attack, and we see it now in her continuing spokesmanship for Muslims in Asia Minor.

This article from a Turkish daily newspaper titled “Turkey is shaping the Arab Spring” states flatly, “the Ottomans are back”.

That the Ottomans could be the 7th kingdom mentioned in the Revelation verse is worth pondering, as we watch Turkey’s pre-eminence in the Middle East rise again.

Israel readies land for mass burials

This is a very interesting piece of information (thanks kind reader who sent it to me!). It has prophecy written all over it. Here is the news:

State earmarks mass grave sites in case of national disaster
“Israel’s National Planning and Building Board ruled Tuesday to designate eight sites across Israel as mass burial sites in case of a nationwide disaster, such as a catastrophic earthquake. The Board’s dire premise is that such a quake will result in thousands of fatalities, regardless of its geographic epicenter. Another work premise is that in case of a nationwide mass casualty event authorities would be unable to accommodate timely burial, due to foreseen problems with identifying remains and the need to clear bodies in order to thwart the speared of disease. The eight designated sites, which span from Rosh Pinna in Israel’s north, to Beersheba in its south, can each entomb 3,000 individuals. The sites were chosen after being deemed topographically suitable.”

In the soon-coming Ezekiel battle of Gog and Magog, ““It will come to pass in that day that I will give Gog a burial place there in Israel, the valley of those who pass by east of the sea; and it will obstruct travelers, because there they will bury Gog and all his multitude. Therefore they will call it the Valley of Hamon Gog.  For seven months the house of Israel will be burying them, in order to cleanse the land. Indeed all the people of the land will be burying, and they will gain renown for it on the day that I am glorified,” says the Lord GOD. “They will set apart men regularly employed, with the help of a search party, to pass through the land and bury those bodies remaining on the ground, in order to cleanse it. At the end of seven months they will make a search. The search party will pass through the land; and when anyone sees a man’s bone, he shall set up a marker by it, till the buriers have buried it in the Valley of Hamon Gog. The name of the city will also be Hamonah. Thus they shall cleanse the land.”’ (Ezekiel 39:11-16.)

Hamon means multitudes. So literally Hamon Gog means multitudes of Gog who will be buried.

The news article does not say if one of those designates sites is near the soon to be named place of Hamon-Gog, but we know from the bible that at the end, it WILL be where Gog and 5/6ths of his army is buried!

How sad that beleaguered Israel feels the need to devise places for mass burials. how wonderful His prophecy is so precise that the names of the places are included and the methods like laying the flags are described. How unwittingly do the Israelites do all this, not knowing the burials will be for OTHERS!

Don’t get me wrong, many people of Israel will die in upcoming prophetic events. But the gateway event that brings them to the tribulation is the battle described in Ezekiel, when the Lord shows His fury at aggressors against His people, and shows His face to all nations. “Then they will know I am the LORD” He says, and that is a coming event though fraught with pain and death for many, ultimately it is the beginning of the end of bringing a rebellious humanity to justice and a repented humanity to His bosom. That is good.

Are Ahmadinejad’s days numbered? Reportedly asked to resign

An Examiner article states that Arab TV has reported that the Iran’s Supreme Leader Khameini has asked President Ahmadinejad of Iran to step down. If true, it indicates a tightening of the strife that has burst onto the surface between the two over the last two weeks. I’d reported that Ahmadinejad was sulking for 8 days, after he had asked his chief to resign and that request was immediately vetoed by the Supreme Leader. Ahmadinejad did not like being vetoed and immediately went underground, dispensing with his public duties, canceling a trip to Qom, declining to make any speeches, and being absent from the Parliament.

Ahmadinejad’s absence from parliament was promptly decried by the Ministers, and 219 of the 290 wrote a letter to Ahmadinejad asking him to return to duties and cease his work-boycott and his unwillingness to submit to the Supreme Leader. No go.

Now there are rumors that Arab TV has reported last night that the President has been asked to step aside. Normally I wait to publish something like this on my blog, except that the rumor was picked up and reported by BNO Twitter News, the most reliable and fastest news outlet on the web.

In addition, in a strange piece yesterday I’d read in The Guardian (UK), Ahmadinejad’s closest allies were accused of practicing sorcery and communicating with unknown worlds, and arrested. It was reported:
“Ahmadinejad allies charged with sorcery”
Iranian power struggle between president and supreme leader sees arrests and claims of undue influence of chief of staff
Photo: “Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his chief of staff, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, who is described as ‘the actual president of Iran’ by allies of the country’s supreme leader.”
“Close allies of Iran’s president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, have been accused of using supernatural powers to further his policies amid an increasingly bitter power struggle between him and the country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Several people said to be close to the president and his chief of staff, Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, have been arrested in recent days and charged with being “magicians” and invoking djinns (spirits).”

If Ahmadinejad resigns, you can bet that he will be replaced with someone even more fanatical. Iran (Persia in  he bible) is prophesied to be an aggressor in the very last of the last days, sparking a war that trips the world over to the Tribulation. (Ezekiel 38-39). Stay tuned. If this much is made public coming from the tightly controlled and secretive Iranian nation, then more will surface and soon either Ahmadinejad’s resignation or the refutation of his resignation will be reported also. I am staking my opinion toward the resignation. I think Ahmadinejad’s days are numbered.

There’s a rift between Iran’s President Ahmadinejad and the Ayatollah; rumors swirl that Ahmadinejad will be out soon

Some significant news is occurring in Iran that’s not getting a lot of play in Western reporting media. Iran’s President is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The Supreme Leader is Ayatollah Khamenei. Here is how one Iranian blogger described the role of the President:

‘Seyyed Ahmad Alam al-Hoda, the Imam of Friday Prayers in Mashhad, said, “All the officials, ministers, Majles deputies, judiciary chief, and the president who want to serve the nation must obey the orders of the Supreme Leader. If they do not do so, their position has no legitimacy, even if people have elected them.” He continued, “When people elect the president, their votes are just a bunch of zeroes. What gives meaning to the zeroes is the Supreme Leader’s certification of the vote. Assembly of Experts member Seyyed Ali Akbar Gharebaghi compared the current situation to the one involving Abolhassan Bani Sadr, the Islamic Republic’s first president, who was impeached in June 1981 after he clashed with Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. “The most efficient model of governance is one with the Supreme Leader,” said Gharebaghi. “Bani Sadr thought that because he had 12 million votes, he could oppose the Imam [Khomeini]. His problem was that he did not understand what it meant to oppose the Imam. He thought that the people voted for him, but did not know that without the Supreme Leader he had no legitimacy.”

So the news is, there appears to be a problem between the Supreme Leader and their hand-picked puppet, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Iran’s president and supreme leader in rift over minister’s reinstatement
MPs call for Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to be impeached after his refusal to back Khamenei’s judgment
“A rift is emerging between Iran’s president and its supreme leader, prompting several members of the parliament to call for the impeachment of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has not been seen in public for days. Ahmadinejad has refused to appear at the presidential palace since Friday in what is being seen as a reaction to Ayatollah Khamenei’s reinstating of a minister he initially “asked to resign”. Under pressure from Ahmadinejad the intelligence minister, Heydar Moslehi, a close ally of the supreme leader, stepped down on 17 April but was reinstated when Khamenei asked him in a letter to stay. The president has not publicly shown his support for that decision and on Wednesday he refused for the second time to chair a cabinet meeting in which Moslehi was present. Ahmadinejad also reportedly cancelled an official visit to the holy city of Qom prompting reactions among conservatives that “the president was sulking”. On Tuesday, Parliament News, a website run by Iranian MPs reported that “the plan to impeach Ahmadinejad has begun” in the parliament, with 12 MPs asking for him to be summoned before them.”

Is Ahmadinejad fighting for his political life?

‘Absent’ Ahmadinejad to address nation next week: media
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has not appeared in public for more than a week, is to make a televised address to the nation within days, local media reported Thursday, citing an official. “Ahmadinejad will speak to the nation next week, and his comments are going to please the friends of the revolution and despair the enemies of the regime,” several newspapers reported the vice-president in charge of parliamentary affairs, Mohammad Reza Mir-Tajedini, as saying.

Wow. Trouble in paradise? I guess so.

In relation to prophecy, Iranian politics always bears watching because Iran is forecast to be a terrible aggressor in the last days. The major event tripping the world into tribulation is Iran’s attack against Israel, joined by allies Turkey, Russia, Libya, Northern Africa, Armenia, and others. Iran attacks Israel in a surprise that almost devastates Israel and it looks like it will be destroyed it forever. It would be destroyed except that at the last second God Himself supernaturally saves the nation. (Ezekiel 38-39.) The world sees clearly that God saved Israel and Israel realizes this too. “I will rain down on him, on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, flooding rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. Thus I will magnify Myself and sanctify Myself, and I will be known in the eyes of many nations. Then they shall know that I am the LORD.”’ (Ez 38:22b-23) Israel returns to covenant with God at that time. (Ez 39:7) Once she returns to Covenant, it means the warnings are over and the Tribulation has begun (Daniel 9:24-27). The church will be gone, ending the Church Age and re-starting Daniel’s prophetic clock for the last 7 years to conclude the long-paused Age of Law.

Mahmoud Ahmadinajad’s belligerence toward Israel is unparalleled. However, if he is not performing to expectations in some way, then the Supreme Leaders will have no issue with removing him and installing another puppet. In fact, some reports dribbling in claim that impeachment has already begun, as the UK Guardian article above reports.

Any time an unbalanced and megalomaniacal nation in the middle of the geographic region that is undergoing revolutions and overthrows, and is prophesied to be a catalyst for the worst wars the world has ever seen, you pay attention when they are reported to be having internal leadership problems! Grand Ayatollah Khomenei, the founder of the Islamic Republic, is quoted as saying that he had three goals for Iran: 1. Overthrowing the Shah; 2. Establishing an Islamic State; 3. Creating the situation for the return of the last Imam. The third goal’s situation for the last Imam’s return includes a world with no Israel.

It is very interesting indeed that Ahmadinejad has not been seen and that there are rumors of a new President appearing imminently. As with so many of the entrenched leaders in the Middle East this year, it seems that Ahmadinejad is not immune from a fall from power. But the question is, if Ahmadinejad is out, will the next President be even worse for Israel?

Reaction to Netanyahu’s speech today: Ben, that horse has left the barn

Prime Minister Netanyahu gave a major speech today, titled, “The Things That Must Follow Present MidEast Turmoil.” In the speech, Netanyahu outlined three things the world must do to quell the Middle East violence and right the runaway train toward peace. I’ll give a summary and offer my reasoning why pursuing these three is akin to spitting in the wind.

Netanyahu said: “what is required is a Marshall Plan by the concerned international powers, and also the public sector, to assist in the concrete development of these two economies. “If you remember, the Marshall Plan was the large-scale economic program of the United States for rebuilding and creating a stronger economic foundation for the countries of Europe. Netanyahu wants to apply that kind of large-scale economic plan to the Middle east nations.

I believe this approach ultimately will fail because it has been obvious for years that the powerhouse in the region, Iran, has deliberately abandoned the economic route and thus abandoned the west, in favor of a philosophical strengthening among like-allies: thru Islam. If you google ‘Iran’, “Ahmadinejad” and “strengthen” you will find hundreds of headlines like these over the last three years:

  • Iran, Afghanistan vow to strengthen ties
  • Venezuela and Iran Strengthen Ties
  • Iran, Africa vow to strengthen ties
  • Syria and Iran strengthen ties with car and cement plants
  • Russia, Iran strengthen gas ties
  • Offshore Kenya-Iran to Strengthen Ties
  • Iran and Turkey determined to strengthen ties Iran,
  • Comoros to strengthen ties with Iran.

Those are just a few of the headlines. Ahmadinejad’s ‘strengthening ties’ tour has been going on over the last three and a half years. He has been busy. While we have been watching Obama and Europe has been watching the euro, Iran has reached out to the world.

In the news piece above about Sudan, it states, “The message came as part of the joint consultations between Khartoum and Tehran on global and regional issues of common concern…Hashemi highlighted the importance for the two countries to pay attention to external plots targeting their common interests”. Those common interests are religious, not economic. After all, what can Sudan offer Iran? Comoros?? Ahmadinejad visited Comoros. It is stated: “Mahmoud Ahmadinejad met Comorian counterpart Ahmad Abdullah Sambi and asserted Tehran is ready to increase ties with African countries and particularly Islamic ones in all fields and on the basis of justice.”

You’ve seen that phrase “external plot” come up in the news the last two weeks: “Bahrain Monarch Says ‘Foreign Plot’ Failed”. The Sudanese President’s statement about external plots was from Dec 2010, and the Bahraini King’s statement about external plots was from this week. Muslims around the global ‘belt’ are tightening ties, drawing together as inexorably as iron shavings to a magnet. And it has happened before our very eyes! Ahmadinejad has done a good job of fomenting perspective that when the nations see us they see us through enemy eyes, and when they see each other they see like-minded allies suffering from external plots. They are internal, we are external.

Netanyahu’s strategy of Economic enticements from the west will fail because 1) the Middle east nations are moving forward toward coalescing around Islam, and 2) they have enough money. Witness this next surprising headline:

Headline from today: China, Iran, Turkey emerge as scientific giants
A report from the UK’s Royal Society has found that a diverse range of countries, including Brazil, India and Iran, are rivalling the traditional science superpowers of the United States, Western Europe and Japan.

Other headline from this week: “Released on Monday, the report states that Iran has had the fastest rate of increase in scientific publication in the world and its scientific output rose 18-fold between 1996 and 2008, from 736 published papers to 13,238.” The West likes to perpetrate Iran as a backward, fumbling nation needing our help. Sure, the people are poor, but the nation isn’t.

Does the West know HOW FAR the new world order has gone? Old paradigms like economic ties/sanctions no longer apply. Why? They don’t need us.

Secondly, Netanyahu said “could be done more effectively by still stronger sanctions, and especially those measures that prevent the worst outcome of all – a turbulent, unstable Middle East, an Iran that exports revolutions and subversion, seeking to form militant Islamic regimes in all these countries, or in as many as they can. … the second thing that has to be done is to put maximum pressure on the main engine that drives Islamic militancy in this region, and that is pressure on Iran, and above all, to prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons.”

Fail. Firstly, sanctions have done no good over the last 8 years. Secondly, Iran has hurtled ahead in cementing ties in Muslim nations and Latin America, cutting out the West, thereby rendering itself nearly immune to external pressure (“plots”). Third, Iran’s covert plan of Middle East destabilization is practically no longer covert. And they are succeeding. Iran is leaping ahead in science, and that means likely that successful invention of nuclear weaponry is at the door. That horse has left the barn, and Netanyahu opines that closing the door will fix it.

Netanyahu’s third proposed solution is to pursue peace, first by strengthening existing peace treaties with Jordan and Egypt, and secondly by advancing peace with the Palestinians.

I believe that no matter how fervently we all want peace, pray for peace, hope for peace, peace will not come until and unless the Psalm 83 battle occurs. The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over and expect a different outcome. Pursuing peace through peaceful means has always failed. Israel’s strength, demonstrated in a successful military campaign, will cause a false peace to permeate the region, but be the final push to coalesce what Ahmadinejad has been working toward all along: a military campaign of retaliation. Gog-Magog.
