Language that hides or softens sin is lies

By Elizabeth Prata

The declaration of the fact we are sinners is rare these days. I’ve become saddened that so many people refuse to see that they are indeed wretched sinners, in need of a savior. The mere mention of the fact that we sin is enough these days to engender a harsh reaction, even profanity and blasphemy. I’m not kidding, the reactions are loud and brash.

People say that rather than see ourselves as at the core evil, we are created in the image of God and insinuate that then, of course, we are intrinsically good and worthy. They say things like ‘we’ve gone off course’, or ‘missed the mark’, or just ‘need a mid-course correction.’

NOOOOOOOO! It is a pure satanic twist, perpetuating the oldest and most basic satanic lie: changing the plain language of “sin”.

If we are intrinsically good and worthy, we do not believe we need a savior, which suits satan just fine. Satan’s first lie is that man is intrinsically good. We are not. Satan says if we are left to ourselves, we will do things that are moral, just and upright, (like heal the planet and refrain from wars and enact social justice and behave equitably.

Don’t you think that if we could collectively do that which is just and moral we would have already? Satan’s lie about just how good we are is refuted in Romans 5:12 “Wherefore by one man sin entered the world and death by sin, so then death is passed upon all men for all have sinned.”

Once the notion of sin is pushed away, and made to seem like just little stumbles, we can feel safe in taking the safe path toward a SELF-correction. That path is NOT safe, it is the worst of dangers and snares! “The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, That one may avoid the snares of death.” (Proverbs 14:7).

So do we believe the sins of the world can be cured by intrinsically good and worthy people working together to stop the ‘mistakes’ of oil drilling and excessive carbon emissions and social injustice? Has it worked, yet? This is another satanic lie, that we can control our own destiny.

Satan says man “is the captain of my own fate.” The LORD is the captain of our fate. The Scripture says, “A man can do nothing except it be given him from heaven.” (John 3:27) and “We can make our plans, but the final outcome is in God’s hands.” (Proverbs 16:1)

Even words previously commonly understood like racism, misogyny, equity, justice have been perverted to mean things they are not.

“They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator–who is forever praised. Amen.” (Romans 1:25). Earth-worship is not new, but calling oil drilling or climate change a sin or that we can manage ‘climate change’ by dwelling in a hotter house are vain acts.

It is the end time. “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. (1 Timothy 4:1).

In these days of doctrines of demons, we read a great many things that are couched slyly as satan would say, with insinuating concepts of God as outdated, of personal sin as too harsh to accept against our innate goodness, of men who can collectively make a list and change the world through strength and actions of their own control of destiny.

Watch for statements like those, of conversations that accept these lies. We must be strong and call these statements what they are, not mistakes, or wrong thinking, but lies. We do not need correction of national mistakes, but forgiveness of personal sin. Why be so clear and pointed? Jesus calls them lies. Jesus calls them antichrists. “For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.” (2 John 1:7). “Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour.”

Call language that hides or softens sin what it is: lies

“Americans need national repentance and atonement.”

That was the headline of an editorial written by Rabbi Michael Lerner. He is editor of Tikkun http://www.tikkun.org, and chair of the Network of Spiritual Progressives (an interfaith organization, open to atheists as well). I got positively excited! It was published in Counter Currents, an alternative webjournal culling news and analysis on the fight against economic globalisation and other issues. A spiritual person, writing about needing atonement! How wonderful!

That was why I was excited to see a published column about national repentance and atonement. With beating heart, I began reading.

“Now that the Iraq war is supposedly winding down, America needs a period of reflection, repentance and atonement before rushing into more of the same mistakes we’ve been making globally and domestically.”

Oh. It’s about Iraq. The Rabbi continues, “So I’d like to invite my non-Jewish neighbors and friends and allies in the struggle to heal and transform America to join with Jews…”

‘Heal America’? How about healing the soul? A healing that only Jesus can accomplish? Nope, the Rabbi continues: “…taking collective responsibility for our larger world.” Unfortunately, the rabbi’s stance of taking collective responsibility for our larger world means that the rabbi is less interested in the front and center fact of individual sin, and would rather submerge that concept into a diluted context of national sin. Removing the immediacy of sin from the actions of the individual person to one that’s further afield (like a ‘nation’) makes it feel less convicting, that is for sure.

And then the horrible zinger comes: “Rather than see ourselves as at the core evil, the Jewish tradition sees us as created in the image of God and hence intrinsically good and worthy-and it is with this understanding that Americans can then feel safe to explore where we’ve gone off course, missed the mark, and hence need a mid-course correction.”

NOOOOOOOO! It is a pure satanic twist, perpetuating the oldest and most basic satanic lie: changing the fact of our craven sin nature to one of intrinsic goodness and worthiness. If we are intrinsically good and worthy, we do not believe we need a savior, which suits satan just fine. Satan’s first lie is that man is intrinsically good. We are not. Satan says if we are left to ourselves, we will do things that are moral, just and upright, (like heal the planet and refrain from wars, as the rabbi states.) Don’t you think that if we could collectively do that which is just and moral we would have already? Satan’s lie about just how good we are is refuted in Romans 5:12 “Wherefore by one man sin entered the world and death by sin, so then death is passed upon all men for all have sinned.”

The essay states that once the notion of sin is pushed from us to the realms of national stumbles, we can feel safe in taking the safe path toward a correction. That path is NOT safe, it is the worst of dangers and snares! “The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, That one may avoid the snares of death.” (Proverbs 14:7).

The rabbi then proposes a course of action, “It won’t take long to help each of us to construct a list of the areas that we need to address in our repentance. We could start with the easy ones: our inability to stop deep ocean drilling for oil and gas even after the Gulf oil disaster; our inability to limit carbon emissions even though the scientific evidence is clear that rising emissions are above the level consistent with continuing human life (and possibly all life) on earth; our inability to acknowledge the pain we’ve inflicted on the Iraqi people by our invasion,…” So the author believes the sins of the world can be cured by intrinsically good and worthy people working together to stop the ‘mistakes’ of oil drilling and excessive carbon emissions. This is another satanic lie, that we can control our own destiny. Certainly, making lists is not going to save us. Satan says man “is the captain of my own fate.” The LORD is the captain of our fate. The Scripture says, “A man can do nothing except it be given him from heaven.” (John 3:27) and “We can make our plans, but the final outcome is in God’s hands.” (Proverbs 16:1)

The worst is yet to come. There is included in the essay a prayer template in which we are to among other things, ask for atonement “For the sin of not doing enough to challenge racist, sexist, and homophobic institutions and practices…” I ask, just whom do we ask for atonement of these communal ‘sins’? He writes,  “For these sins we ask the people of this planet and the Earth itself to forgive us.”

This essay dismisses the fact of individual sin, proposes safety on the path away from God, and ultimately removes God entirely from the conversation of Whom to ask for forgiveness. “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator–who is forever praised. Amen.” (Romans 1:25). Earth-worship is not new, but calling oil drilling a sin we need to ask each other for forgiveness of, is.

Now, the rabbi knows God, but “although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.” (Romans 1:23-24)

I don’t mean to pick on the Rabbi personally. He is likely a very nice man. He cares about the problems of the world. But he is in a position as editor and contributor to influence a great many people. In his widely circulated journals he has a responsibility to rightfully handle the word of Truth. As a Jew, he may not acknowledge the words in the New Testament but the Pharisees themselves said in Luke 5, when Jesus forgave the sins of the paralytic, “The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, “Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” Asking the ‘earth’ and ‘other men’ to forgive our sins is blasphemy, which the rabbi should well know.

It is the end time. “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. (1 Timothy 4:1). In the photo above, the author urges us to collectively lift up the earth as an object of worship, as a created thing we must exalt. In this illustration below, we are told what we must do:

In these days of doctrines of demons, we read a great many things that are couched slyly as satan would say, with insinuating concepts of God as outdated, of personal sin as too harsh to accept against our innate goodness, of men who can collectively make a list and change the world through strength and actions of their own control of destiny. Watch for articles like those, of conversations that accept these lies.

Conscious Convergence set for July 17-18 will call forth beings and realities they do not expect

Are you ready to converge? Become one with the universe? Co-create? No? Well, you, too, can be a god! On July 17! Try it!

On July 17-18 a world-wide event will take place among all those who adhere to the philosophy that we humans are participants in the creation of our reality. It is called the Conscious Convergence, and it’s organized by a former toxicologist, Dr. Carl Calleman. In a Youtube interview, Calleman said the event will unite those who get together to “manifest united consciousness” in which, they will be “climbing to a higher level of consciousness” and then they can “ask the Divine, ‘what am I do to to help this transition to unity consciousness, to help manifest the Divine plan?” or, “what does it take for me to be a co-creator of the Unity Consciousness?”

It is the height of arrogance to say that mere humans can ‘help’ the Divine manifest anything. The inverse of that is that the Divine is insufficient to execute any plan the ‘Divine’ has, so it seeks our help. And if it’s insufficient to carry out its plan, then it’s not Divine. That much is obvious. Of course, it begs the question, who IS the ‘Divine’?  That one is never quite answered.

But millions are enthusiastically preparing to join in and begin co-creating. What they intend to create is unclear also. Quoting from the Conscious Convergence page on Facebook:

“The Conscious Convergence is global event, which paves the way for the ninth and last wave of consciousness in the Mayan calendar system. It’s called unity consciousness. It’s also the end of dualistic consciousness where we are separated into East and West, male and female, black and white, spirit and matter and so on. In reality, we are all ONE with no need for separation.” So we all become muddy-colored hermaphrodites. No? What did I miss?

One adherent explained it this way: :
“The Mayan Calendar and its end date are not about an apocalyptic end of the world scenario. It is not about an event or a series of events that are just going to drop down from the sky upon us suddenly. It requires our active co-creation with it. The Mayan Calendar depicts a non-linear evolution of consciousness tracking from the Big Bang nearly 16 billion years ago to the potential completion of that fully evolved consciousness–interconnected unity conscious–at the completion of the Calendar.” Their long count calendar ends at December 21, 2012, but that is not the end of time, only of the long count. Another one begins after Dec 2012, according to the Mayans. In this explanation, it’s not called “Divine” but “Source Wisdom.” The Calendar can be thought of as a 9-tier pyramid with each ascending level of the pyramid going higher and being proportionately more condensed. That’s why Dr. Dalleman says this is the 9th wave. Since the human species is the only species that can be conscious fully of our own consciousness, we are the potential co-creators to align with the cosmic forces!” What cosmic forces these are, exactly, are never explained.

The Conscious Convergence web site opens with the following statement of intention:
Shared Intention Agreement

“I, as a sovereign being, join together with All That Is to call forth the presence of balance and unity within me and in our world. I am the conscious presence of harmony and reconciliation and I am grateful for the wholeness I bring forth in this and every moment. And so it is.” Sounds familiar. The Wiccans say “so mote it be.”

There it is in a nutshell. Sovereign. It all boils down to the one lie, for in the beginning the serpent said, ‘you can be like God.’  (Gen 3:5). And that lie has been going strong ever since, that we are sovereign beings. In believing that we could be sovereign beings, it means we are answerable to no one. This is a philosophy which appeals greatly to the sinful nature we all have. Some never recognize their true nature, to their eternal doom. But it is the most lasting devilish doctrine and the most effective. We are gods.

The bible is replete with warnings not to accept falsity in teaching, preaching, or the Word.

Beware false teachers
“As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies rather than God’s work—which is by faith.” (1 Timothy 1:3-4)

Beware false doctrines
“But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.” (2 Peter 2:1-3)

Do not be deceived
“Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.” (Matthew 24:4-5)

And yet, they ARE deceived! They follow hollow teachings which tickle the ears. “For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.” (2 Tim 4:3). And why wouldn’t ‘being your own god’ tickle your ears? Why wouldn’t thinking yourself a co-creator of the universe tickle your fancy? These doctrines elevate the self, whereas in a Christian’s world, the self is craven, dirty, and should be denied.

If you see a bunch of people meditating really, really hard on July 17 or 18, with wrinkled brow, trying for all they are worth to ‘manifest’ some kind of ill-defined reality, know that they will be successful, if doomed. For satan is the god of this world, and attempting to “call forth” other consciousnesses is an open invitation to asking satan to creep in and control your mind and your life. (1 Peter 5:8). Would that a person be curious about the wisdom and consciousness of God! Attempt instead to connect with His majesty and glory as expressed in His creation and by the strength of the Holy Spirit! We are not sovereign beings, and we manifest nothing except what our sin nature allows: and this fallen world is proof. If we were sovereign and able to create a different reality, don’t you think we would have done it by now?

Pray for all the people on July 17-18 following after these doctrines of demons and pray for their release from the bondage satan has then under. God’s Light and Truth is so much more powerful and lasting than any crumbly bits of non-linear, co-created reality our dualistic natures can conjure!

Burning down The Shack

In July of 2008, at the height of Shack-mania, I wrote here that the best-selling book “The Shack” is a devilish deception. I wrote about it again in April of 2009 here, saying it is a book full of doctrines of demons. In November of 2009 I explained why Christians should not read The Shack, here. Are you getting the idea that I believe The Shack is not-good?

Tim Challies was one of the first to identify this book as a deception, back in January of 2008, and he wrote about it here. Another book has come along with a chapter-by-chapter rebuttal of the doctrines of demons contained in the best-selling book that has influenced millions.

Up in flames: Melting false teachings of ‘The Shack’: Professor takes torch to ‘blasphemous doctrine’ of best-seller is the subject of a promotion by World Net Daily. “Author James De Young says of The Shack, “its depiction of God as an African woman who suffered Christ’s crucifixion – and the book’s exclusion of any existence of Satan and hell – represent just some of its many dangerous deceptions.
If such deceptions, which upend biblical teachings on sin, redemption, salvation and damnation, go unchallenged, says De Young, this “feel-good novel” could prove terribly divisive and destructive to millions of Christians.” In my opinion it has already done great damage.

Here is another review of “Burning Down The Shack”, due out June 1:

New Book ‘Burning Down ‘The Shack” Exposes Great Deception Lurking in Church’s Blindside

It’s the feel-good novel about faith that millions of people love. And its warm and fuzzy depiction of God the Father is cherished by millions of Evangelical Christians who’ve embraced it as though it were gospel.

This mass adoration has helped seemingly cement William Paul Young’s The Shack to the stratosphere of numerous best-sellers list–where it’s remained for more than 100 weeks–a claim no other book can make.

Yet it is infused with counterfeit Christianity, says author James De Young in his new book, Burning Down ‘The Shack’: How the ‘Christian’ Bestseller is Deceiving Millions, and its depiction of God the Father as an African woman who bore the scars of Calvary with Jesus Christ is just one example of its many dangerous deceptions.

De Young isn’t only a New Testament Language and Literature professor at Western Seminary in Portland, Ore., he’s also a former longtime colleague of Paul Young, and was his Portland-area neighbor when Young wrote The Shack.

Burning Down ‘The Shack,’ which WND Books publishes June 1, challenges readers to consider the perilous religious beliefs of the author. While writing The Shack, Young, a victim of child molestation, had recently embraced “universal reconciliation” — a belief identified as far back as the sixth century as heresy — which emphasizes that Jesus’ loving nature renders him incapable of eternally damning people.

In “Burning Down ‘The Shack'”, De Young delivers a chapter-by-chapter evaluation of more than 15 heresies within The Shack. Chief among the errors is what Young left out. “A familiar, but deceptive maneuver is to give an aspect of a theological issue, while ignoring an equally important aspect that qualifies or limits the first one,” De Young writes to explain Young’s obvious exclusion of Satan and Hell.”

What does the bible say? 1 Timothy 4:1 – “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.” And The Shack is one of them.
